Five stars based on this morning's toasted bagels and coffee! The coffee was strong -- 3 sizes available -- and the bagels were just right. (Much better than what we paid a lot more for, elsewhere.) I had an everything bagel with a generous schmear of scallion cheese! Great! Look at all those scallions! (In Ft Myers I got a nondescript bagel with vegetable cheese. You needed a magnifying glass to see any vegetables!) Open 24 hours and conveniently located around the corner from our apartment -- next time we'll try something more than a bagel. read more

Unfortunately, Modiwa is now CLOSED permanently. The reason for the closure was not mentioned on a note posted on the front door. The exterior of the entire building is covered for either renovation or demolition. It's really ba shame because this was my go to place for quality sandwiches and paints. I was partial to the Moduwa panini (aka heaven on earth). Now I have to find another sandwich store, and I fear I won't. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. This was my first time here. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese on an everything bagel. It was $5.92. Moduwa York 84 is clean and neat Inside. I found non deli food merchandise to be overpriced when I did find a price. I looked at some huge cookies but they weren't priced. That's one of my pet peeves. Please price everything like the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk cookie that look so good! I just wasn't in the mood to ask the price. Although I saw a couple people walk by that looked like they were in charge no one spoke to me. The girl behind the front counter managed a faint smile when I spoke to her before I left. I left empty handed. I think the new benches out front are a nice touch. When I took a close look there were animal droppings on them. It would have been nice if they checked them in the morning to see if they're clean. I'm not feeling a good vibe in this place so I don't see a reason to return. I don't want the cookies bad enough. Everyone in Manhattan has their preferred deli, and Moduwa happens to be mine. I come here often due to proximity to my apartment, but I've found them to be a step above the other local delis. It's a cleaner place overall, and the sandwiches are less sloppy/greasy. Great BEC's, chicken wraps, turkey clubs, and Italian meat combo sandwiches. read more

This place is super convenient as it's right on my block. Pros: Clean Staff is friendly and they remember your orders. They have a good selection for sandwiches and breakfast offerings Depending on the time of day, their service is pretty quick Cons: They're understaffed in the mornings. Don't bother going in there before 6:30am unless you just want coffee and a muffin or something pre-made, and even then expect a wait. They only deliver from something like 8am to 5pm They require you pay cash when you ask for deliver, which is extremely inconvenient. read more

I ordered a toasted everything bagel with lox spread. They accidentally put plain cream cheese and then scraped some off and put it back in the plain cream cheese bucket and just added a little bit of lox spread. The bagel was not toasted and it was not the kind of bagel that taste good not toasted :( Should have waited in line at one of the other bagel places. read more

I was blessed to pick an apartment down the street from the perfect New York deli. Literally everything you could want from a deli. Honestly, nothing more nothing less. Their selection of candies and chips are perfect - higher quality than you'd probably expect from a corner store (Kinder and Haribo brands) but also has all the things you'd expect uk? The sandwiches are perfectly, wonderfully standard :) you get what you pay for in the best way possible I'll attach a pic of the wrap I'm eating from here rn (the California - no tomatoes, sub chipotle mayo for ranch) my roommates and I always relay on Moduwa for a Saturday morning bagel and coffee to enjoy on the cute little picnic table they have outside. I frequent Moduwa for years, always the same order: Unfortunately a server that knows my order almost always serves me wrong: I ask for a coffee : Little sugar little milk: I went to the same server today and said it was too sweet: Then she didn't add any sugar and too much milk so it was COLD! Later I asked if the manager was there and i was told to come back tomorrow: I explained the situation: I got NO APOLOGY AND THE OTHER STAFF JUST SAID GOOD BYE: How rude: I asked for the name of the manager : no answer I asked for the address and he pointed to the door sign: NOW, How am I to know the zip code and I said to him HOW DO YOU KNOW I HAVE THE TIME TOMORROW: a professional person would relay the message and ask how the manager could get in touch with me so I could air my complaint. Glad to have a good deli open up near my apartment. Sandwiches are good with boars head meat and quality bread. The paninis are awesome. Has a solid breakfast sandwich. I know they're still in the pre-grand opening phase, but you're missing some staple menu options like quesadillas, burritos and nachos. Also, I see you have a fryer but I don't see any menu options like onion rings or fries for a deluxe combo like most deli's - it would be awesome if you also had some of the other fryer classics like jalapeño poppers and mozzarella sticks. So I'm not sure what the fryer is for. Also. What would be great if you carried some standard snack items like lays chips, Chex mix, Doritos, salsa, etc. you have lots of small sized fancy stuff so you see a lot of people bounce into 7-11 after to get the rest of the stuff they need. Lastly, if you're taking feedback. Your menu isn't clear as to what sandwiches are hot or not. It looks like only the burgers and steak are hot but that's not the case. People like hot sandwiches and I've seen several people misinterpret the menu as we did the first time we went. The menu is also missing the most popular items like bacon egg and cheese, sausage egg and cheese, buffalo chicken wrap/sandwich, or any specialty overstuffed signature sandwiches to make your spot famous/popular like the "cherry bomb" or a breakfast "heart attack". read more
