They put more rice in the rolls than an ayce sushi spot I've dined at recently.. We sat there wondering how others were able to eat so much... We were hoping our stomachs would feel emptier as time passed since we had a platter of sushi still sitting there. Time only made us feel fuller.. but luckily someone was passing by and sneezed right in the direction of the sushi. We told the waitress...problem solved. It was less than $30pp 10 yrs ago but I'm pretty sure I spent less than that. Such a great bang for your buck - AYCE and drink for $60! The menu is very salmon forward, especially the rolls. I know some people don't like it but I like to switch up and get some galbi and beef wrapped enoki to avoid flavor fatigue. They actually have some really great specially pieces and dishes - you get 1 special app, 15 pieces of sashimi and 15 pieces of nigiri in the AYCE. I wouldn't say the service is slow - you just have to keep a regular ordering pace on the iPad they leave with you. The staff is very nice! It gets pretty packed pretty fast but it's not too loud considering the amount of people. They did a nice happy birthday for a group of dudes. This location is definitely a lot busier and they had some items that were not available at their Manhattan Valley location. However, the Manhattan Valley had more unique items for their premium items. As you can see, we definitely got our money's worth with this AYCE. We ordered a lot of food. Amazing sushi ayce. The hand rolls are my favorite. They allow 15 sashimi a person and 15pcs of the sushi individual pieces. The sashimi is sliced super thick. Everything tasted fresh. For the hot foods, I got the seafood and mushroom soup. It was my favorite soup from a buffet I've had before. I tried the emoki wrapped in beef. It was lacking flavor. I also tried the pork bun. The pork was very good but the addition of lettuce was a strange choice. The gyoza was good and very crispy. I got the mango pudding, which was my least favorite thing from the ayce. The matcha mochi ice cream was good. It came packaged in plastic. I also tried the red bean ice cream, which was standard. Overall a good ayce sushi spot. I went there for the all-you-can-eat option. The sushi was good, but the dim sum and rolls were very greasy you could actually taste the oil, which took away from the flavor. The worst part, however, was the service. It took about 15 minutes between each round of orders, which made the experience feel very slow. I would suggest ordering your next round before finishing the current one to avoid long waits. Personally, I might go there again, but probably only once a year. read more

Very full... Ate too much sushi... Kikoo offers two AYCE options, one is AYCE and one also includes AYCD. Kikoo is a pretty loud experience, with dim LED lighting and usually at least one or two large party events. Outside of this, very decent AYCE spot in Manhattan! There is a special item section of the menu, where each person can order 1 item for the duration of the meal, and same policy applies for one of their dessert sections. An AYCE and drink sushi place should theoretically be a decrepit pit or a food safety hazard waiting to happen, and this was neither. For $50 before tax and tip you can choose wine, beer, sake, or sangria and order from a very wide menu of appetizers, rolls, etc. Ordering is done through an iPad and service is quick. Most items came out within a few minutes at most. There are a couple of categories where each person can only order one item, but I didn't find this limiting at all. The sushi isn't great by any means, but it certainly stands up against the other basic placed in nyc, so you can really get your money's worth if you drink and take advantage of the special rolls. The last time I was at KIKOO was about 9 to 10 Years ago when everything was brand spanking new and the place didn't get as packed. Today on 2/15/2025 I opted to come here because we had tickets to a play and wanted to go down memory lane. Service; The service was not rude, but it wasn't accommodating either. We found a table near the door and it was so cold out. When I asked to be seated in the back, because It was freezing ,the waitress explained that the back didn't open until 8pm, and it was 7pm. Im not sure if its because I've tried so many other competitive restaurants since my last visit, but I really need to emphasize that the experience and taste here has really fallen short . (Only option is Sapporo beer and cheap wine) I don't drink, however they don't allow one person at the table to AYCD, both of you need to order the same. There aren't that many AYCE sushi spots in the city and this is one of them. I have been here since pre-COVID and is actually surprised that I have not written a review for them. My friends and I came here the day before Thanksgiving for AYCE sushi which is about $42 per person. They also have AYCE sushi and drinks which is around $55 which I think is also a great deal if you drink a good amount. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance because they can get very busy. The place itself is pretty spacious and they have a pretty big area in the back so you can definitely bring large groups of people here. The menu is very extensive and also includes desserts. They have a lot of different rolls as well as sashimi and a lot of appeitizers. Their appeitizer items also include a lot of fish items as well so it's not like you are getting full off of just fries. The quality is not bad - it's pretty standard for all AYCE sushi and the food comes out extremely fast. You also order on an ipad so you do not constantly have to look for someone to place orders. The food comes out fairly quickly once you order. Overall - a solid AYCE sushi spot and with tip and tax it came out to around $52 per person which is not bad at all for the city. An East Village staple for AYCE sushi -- we came in with a group of 15 for a friend's birthday dinner. They definitely accommodate large parties and have an ordering tablet to keep things moving. This is a quantity over quality place IMHO -- nothing was bad, per se, but it also didn't blow me away. For the price of $47.20 ($40 for AYCE, non-optional 18% gratuity) , you get a very good deal of AYCE Sushi. They also have an option for $50 AYCE ($59.00 overall) that includes unlimited drinks. The menu was very varied and the sashimi and fish dishes overall were fresh. They even have fried menus, some meat dishes and dessert included in the AYCE. There was not a single piece I ate that felt too fishy. I admit that the price may not seem cheap but for the amount of food you are getting it is definitely worth it. If you can eat more than 24 pieces of sushi, rolls, or sashimi (which is about 3 rolls or 2 nigiri sets of 12 pcs) in a single sitting, this is a good deal (assuming a maki roll cost around $16 per for 8 pieces). What more can you say about an AYCE sushi place? They have more stuff than just sushi, like some meat sides, and desserts. But obviously you come here for the sushi. It uses a tablet to order your food and has pictures too so you can easily see what you like and don't like. I got there a bit early to beat the rush. Been wanting to get AYCE sushi for a long time so was super excited to try this place out as one of the only AYCE sushi locations in Manhattan. Came a bit early for dinner on a weekend and was seated immediately which was nice. The way this place works is that they give you an iPad and you just order whatever you want and they get it to your table within 5 minutes. It's all very efficient. I would recommend coming with a bigger party so that you can try more variety of foods. Here are some of my favorite eats: - Crab Legs - Sweet crab legs full of meat, what is there not to like? - Miso Soup - This is a weird thing to like at a AYCE sushi buffet BUT I think this was the palate cleanser I needed in order to continue eating the rest of the sushi. It was nice to get something hot and silky in my system. - Salmon Kama - I was pretty shocked that they had salmon collar on the menu as it is usually a pretty expensive eat. The salmon was very tender although there was a bit more fatty parts than I would've liked. - Tamago Nigiri - This is so lame, but tamago nigiri is definitely my favorite type of nigiri with it's slightly sweet eggy taste perfectly matches the slightly sour rice. - Tuna Tartare - When I first took a bite of this thing, I was kind of shocked because I felt like the sauce went so perfectly with the tuna. However, when I ate this at the end of the meal, I felt a bit like throwing up because the tuna was cut too thick and messily. Would recommend ordering this as one of the first things. What I would not recommend ordering: - Fried Oreos - When you are full, this is the last thing that should be on your list of things to eat as it is incredibly filling. I ate 1/4 of one and I felt like I just ate pure oil. - To be honest, after awhile all the sushi flavors start to mix together and they start to taste very similarly. First let's start with the positives. Although we went during peak hours on a Saturday night (7:45pm) we got seated immediately as a party of 2. The service was good. The iPad they give you allows you to call for service/water/napkins etc - the servers responded within 30 seconds tops each time. The staff was very courteous and friendly as well. Unfortunately, that's about where the positives end. The place was poorly lit and very dim, beyond what would be considered "mood lighting." The food was also pretty awful. The salmon was legitimately slimy and obviously low quality. Every single roll we ordered fell apart the second you touched it with a chopstick and attempted to pick it up. Regardless of how busy you are, you can't rush rolling sushi to that degree. We ordered cold sake, and a 300mL bottle of import sake as well. The house sake tasted like pure isopropyl, and the "cream flavored" import just tasted like nothing. Four shots of the house sake and half of the import bottle also had my gf feeling no buzz whatsoever when she typically is a lightweight. The tables are also placed WAY too close together to maximize occupancy, to the point where to get up and use the bathroom you have to have your neighboring guest move their table over. As a final point, the noise level was absolutely deafening. It was mostly coming from a party in the back of the place that was making insane amounts of noise. I am not some kind of karen- they were legitimately all screaming and yelling nonstop. The set up is super convenient- they have both AYCE and a la carte options, only caveat being everyone at the table needs to opt for AYCE if you're going that route. Each table gets an iPad with the menu, you order whatever you want and as many plates of it as you want at d as by time off your tablet and someone brings the food to you. I loved the setup as it lets you browse through the menu and figure out what you want next. The food was tasty, the fish was fresh and the options are plentiful enough that you can definitely eat to your hearts content. We were told our only other option was to come back "after 9 PM". So I could not make a reservation, and I also could not walk in. I have never seen a restaurant do this before. I've eaten here before in a larger group, and the food is definitely quantity over quality, but still a good deal. The star of the awfulness was this one angry, mean server who bitched us out repeatedly for things that shouldn't have been an issue. It's not like they don't have these big shiny iPads that can do all that messy accounting for you....*eyeroll* This same woman made it a point to slam down our orders as often as she could. At one point, this resulted in spilling half of my carafe of sake--which, btw, was an extra expense, since we'd opted for the no drink AYCE. No apology, no offer to reimburse, nothing. Speaking of orders, they kept giving us other people's orders. I'd say about 40% of the stuff on our table was a mis-delivery. Not a huge issue when you're AYCE, but sucks to be every other party in the restaurant waiting for their order. I guess since we were the largest group there that night, they just assumed everything went to us? All these mishaps kind of mask the fact that the sushi is pretty decent for AYCE, and the ordering via iPad is a nice touch. The birthday boy loves this place and has had his birthday here for many years--but after this last dinner, I think he's going to find a new place. read more
