Wow this place was such an amazing find in Morgan Hill. Cute little cafe with very kind, inclusive staff. What I loved most was the veggie options. I tried the tofu bowl and it was very tasty with lots of delish fresh tofu, spinach, black beans and vegan cheese. The salsa was nice and spicy. They unfortunate were our of chai when I was there but the latte was very delicious with oat milk! The person I was meeting there had a pastrami sandwich and she enjoyed it. Big portion so she brought the other half home. Will be visiting again! read more

It isn't a culinary powerhouse, but is decent and the staff is so nice it's hard to not love GVA. The prices are reasonable, so the portions are edible and not gluttonous. We got a few salads which were nothing mind-blowing, but the produce was fresh, clean, and crunchy. From what I can tell there isn't a full kitchen, so they piece things together as best they can, so items like eggs come from a microwave. The coffee is strong and bold, so even if you aren't in the mood for a quick meal, the fresh brewed coffee and espresso is worth a trip. Extra love points for the puppy outdoor area and staff that were patient and helpful while we stood there staring at the menu for a few minutes. We will be back! read more

My girls chose this place from Yelp while they were searching for a place to eat for Mother/Daughter breakfast. I'm not really a fan of breakfast so I chose the B.L. T with a White Mocha. The Bacon was crispy just how I like it and the sour dough bread was super fresh. My girls had the Nutella crepe and a Carmel frappe and nothing was leftover. I was in town to get my hair done and realized I had a yen for crepes. This place was a great find. The decor is fun and the staff was friendly and efficient. I couldn't make up my mind so I got the cinnamon and the fruit crepes and both were yummy. They have many coffee offerings but I don't drink coffee so I got yummy iced tea instead. A great discovery, I'd definitely go back if I wasn't leaving California to go back home. Check it out, I think you'll be glad you did. read more

This right here embodies the spirit of the San Jose area! Hard working, down to earth folks, who want to brighten their corner of the world. This spot has a wonderful menu, and the food items from the kitchen smell wonderful! The gelato isn't made by them, but they're supporting another small business in the area by offering store frontage. The coffee that they offer ranges from light and tons ofcaffeine, to smokey and dark. Come in and get your favorite fix. The owners have live music on the weekends, jazz music on sundays, salsa lessons/class, and a whole schedule of things do do make this a social place. read more

Adorable family-owned cafe located in the heart of downtown Morgan Hill. A nice assortment of choices from meat to vegan options. I ordered a veggie delight and Indian malabar coffee which were both delicious. Tantalizing Italian dessert options are available as well. If you have a sweet tooth you must try their gelatos! Service is superb as well. Kimberly took care of us and she was very kind attentive to our needs. Highly recommend visiting this little treasure. read more

Grinds (GVA) cafe is a welcome reprieve from the insanely high-priced hipster establishments that have flooded the valley. As another reviewer has pointed out, there's a lot going on. But, that is part of its charm. Want to breeze in & order a quick glass of good (more reasonably priced) wine before meeting your date? How about some homemade baked goods & creamy gelato? Or, as my friends and I found ourselves on a Saturday evening, how about listening to some live music and dancing (which is tucked away in an adjoining room). You can eat breakfast for dinner too, as they serve waffles, crepes, as well as sandwiches, salads and more. My friend had the Chicken Cesar salad (believe it was around $8) and she raved about it, lots of generous strips of juicy chicken (no skimping here). I can't forget to mention that the music venue side is decorated with local artists' beautiful artwork. Vinyl Replay was the band that played this evening and they were amazing! GVA is refreshingly a nice change of pace, reminds me a little of how cafes of Silicon Valley used to be: unpretentious, good food and drinks that won't break the bank, and free live entertainment. I purposefully drove an extra mile to come here and give local business some business instead of Starbucks. However, you would think a Cafe au lait it's pretty standard but the one I got was very watered-down. It was like drinking milky coffee flavored water. I couldn't even finish a third of it before I decided to just leave it. Really sad that a small business wouldn't work harder to get regular customers to avoid going out of business. But I guess I'll have to stick with Peet's and Starbucks. read more

Made a pit stop here from a road trip. Nice and friendly people working here. Lots of selections to choose. They even have non-dairy milk to accommodate our diet. Their Mayan Mocha was chocolately and savory --not too sweet. I also ordered their spinach, cheese and egg crepe (delish!) and it came w/a side of fresh strawberries. My husband ordered pulled pork sandwich and devoured it. What an awesome cafe! read more

I saw that this is the highest/most rated of the Morgan Hill coffee shops so I came here to enjoy the sun on a quiet Saturday afternoon. The shop itself is nice, it's got a lot of kitschy car memorabilia on the walls and a retro vibe, but they have a good selection of coffee, tea, gelato, and pastries. We ordered a decaf coffee, a Mayan Mocha (basically a mocha with Mexican chocolate), chocolate gelato, and a cinnamon roll. I tried the gelato and it was very good, with a deep flavor and very creamy consistency. The cinnamon roll was also good, although they forgot to bring it out to me and ended up reheating it twice, so the outside of it got a little dried out from being microwaved twice. The decaf coffee was whatever, I don't really see the point of ordering decaf coffee. The mocha was pretty good, it was a little bit too sweet for me and, as is usual with Mexican chocolate, the chocolate didn't melt fully into the drink. But it was still good. We sat outside on Monterey street under an umbrella and the servers brought our drinks out for us. It was a very pleasant day, although the number of cars with obnoxious exhausts is quite high in Morgan Hill. I would have been happy inside too, as they had fans and air conditioning. Overall the place is a better than average coffee shop, and my companion was very happy about the gelato selection. I've never been to Morgan Hill before, but if I do come back and want coffee I know where to go. read more

GVA is AMAZING!!! I fell in love with GVA last summer after having had my very first affogato. They have a great menu with so many selections. They've just added breakfast burritos to their menu and they are so super yummy! I've rented the banquet room on a few occasions. Its a perfect spot to host a part :) I haven't been to a live performance yet, but that is definitely next on my list. I LOVE GVA! It's definitely one of my new favorite spots in Morgan Hill. read more

This is a great local cafe with an impressive selection of coffee beans to rival Peets. I hadn't been here in years and stopped in for a working brunch. I got the bacon egg and Gruyere cheese crepe, and an Ethiopian coffee with an extra espresso shot. It came to about $11 including 15% tip. Very good value! The staff is friendly. The presentation is pretty good. They bring your food / coffee out to you if you eat in. I came here on a Monday around noon, and despite being behind a group of 5 in line the wait was minimal. However it does look like it gets busy on the weekends so I recommend weekdays if you have the option. The atmosphere is fun; a unique mix of diner and small town coffee shop. There is unique memorabilia around that is entertaining to look at. They have ice cream too! The coffee selection alone makes it worth stopping by. Their outdoor seating also has cushions on the chairs, a notable difference between them and most other outdoor spots around the area. I think this will become my new regular breakfast / brunch spot in the area! read more

This place is intimate so if you want to catch up with a friend this is it. They have a few sandwiches, lots of salads, gelato and pastries. There's a wide selection of coffee and tea. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. My pulled pork sandwich was decent and filling. I also ordered an Italian soda which hit the spot on a warm afternoon. The interior is filled with automobile memorabilia and the like. There's also a parking lot located not too far away. There are a few spots to sit outside as well. Also, the sign outside says GVA so you may pass it looking for a Grinds sign. read more

Came after 6 pm, on a beautiful Sunday evening... They were still open. So nice to have businesses open in town, when out for a walk in the evening ... On our way to the great little downtown "play area", The Bike Hub. This coffee shop has almond milk and other healthier snacks, then the average coffee shop. read more

Many times in the past I have asked for bbq sauce with my to go sandwich. When I got the bill the server charged me 1.50 for the side of bbq sauce again maybe a tablespoon of sauce. The server indicated that is what we charge. Really, so you want to nickel and dime a regular patron who goes there weekly!!! Unbelievable. I don't know if it was just embarrassment or what? Bottom line the food and service was definitely way off compared to the LAST time we were in the when the FOOD AND SERVICE was definitely 5 stars. Had this been my first time I probably would've gave them two stars but I felt because I have eaten here before and everything was wonderful. I would give them a break with an average review of 2.5 stars. honestly a far different experience than last time.

This cafe has significantly deteriorated since last year. The food quality has plummeted, and microwaving it has ruined both the taste and texture. The egg beaters were particularly disappointing; the taste was horrendous. The sausage egg croissant was overpriced and not worth the money. I ended up wasting $14 in the trash! From what I've personally observed, these women are working hard and giving their customers their full effort. If your restaurant is busy enough to have a constant flow of customers, it's busy enough to have enough staff! The solution shouldn't be expecting your waitresses to work harder it should be giving them the support they need. As an owner, instead of putting more pressure on employees who are already giving it their all, you need to step in, help more during the rush, or hire a host/busser. Sometimes the problem isn't that your employees aren't working hard enough it's that you're asking them to do the work of three people at once. I love supporting local businesses, and I think Pancakes and Toast has a lot going for it. The food is definitely worth coming back for, but I hope management takes a serious look at how these hard working women are being supported during peak hours.
