The menu is basic, hardly Irish. The lady bartender takes care of her regulars. Don't expect anything. She can be rude, and makes you feel unwelcome from the second you come in. This place is not for tourists. Go around the corner to Mustang Harry's. They have a full menu with a full staff. I have been to the Molly Wee many times over many years. It plain sucks now, unless you like to sit at a bar and just knock 'em down and don't care to eat. read more

Sat at the bar and waited 10 minutes to be seen. I waved and said hello a few times. It wasn't busy. The manager was gossiping with the bartenders about another employee and they could care less about a customer waiting for a drink. The fries were over fried, tasted like they were a day or two old. The waitress serving tables placed empty pints from her tables in front of patrons at the bar, instead of placing them on the side or in a tray like evey other bar. So I'm sitting here having a delayed beer, overcooked fries and 4 empty pints and two empty margarita glasses next to and in front of me. Interior is nice but the service and food I did have were quite poor. I will not return. read more

My brother and I stumbled in after an amazing Billy Joel concert. We were immediately greeted by the hostess who asked us if we were there for eatin' or drinkin'. When we said "both", she gave up her seat at the end of the bar, invited us to sit and said to get our orders in quickly since the kitchen was about to close. The bartender quickly served us a round of drinks. Within moments, we were laughing, singing and drinking with strangers who soon became friends. Food came promptly and was delicious (we had the chicken fingers and baked clams.) The Molly Wee provided a wonderful finish to an evening that was already perfect. Molly Wee Pub is the type of place that makes you feel like you are at a hometown joint, right in the heart of Manhattan. There were a couple of things that made me really happy during my hour with Molly. 1. The prices. A glass of pinot noir was $5 during happy hour. Most of the time a glass would be twice that price, easily. Bonus points for not turning my teeth purple like some cheap wines will do. 2. The ambiance. On the walls are all kinds of fun Irish memorabilia with poems that lift hearts, invite laughter, and make me gosh darn proud to be Irish (even just a little bit). 3. The accents. If they're faking it, then they're darn good at it. More likely, the bartenders are straight from the homeland. I had a delicious ham sandwich that certainly hit the spot for this Starvin Marvin. Loaded with meat and fixings, this baby was worthy of the Big Apple. My only regret here is that I'm not local, because I'd make this one a weekly snack all day long. The Wee Pub also had a very eclectic clientele, which really added something to my visit. The best corned beef I have ever had in my life. I like corn beef but I never realized I had always only had mediocre corn beef - until today. I ordered a corned beef sandwich and it came out with crispy fries. I picked up the sandwich and had a bite of the most succulent corned beef known to mankind. The bread and the cheese were fantastic too but I had to taste the corned beef alone, under nothing, just to see if my taste buds weren't lying to me.....they weren't, I didn't know corned beef like this existed. Alicia,who works here, is so nice and friendly and I told her how much I loved the corned beef. She told me they are known for their corned beef and on Thursdays their special is corned beef and potatoes! Why, do I have to leave Thursday morning?! It's not all about the corned beef though, this is the kind of restaurant/pub everyone wishes they had in their neighborhood. All of the menu items look great and I wish I lived here so I could try all of them. People living in the Chelsea area - you are lucky guys, I'm jealous. Called the manager who said , there's nothing she can do at this point because they give out cash. Well, if the manager can't do anything about bartenders stealing from customers who can? Waitstaff and bartenders are super old and cranky. I normally wouldn't make a comment about someone's age but this bar/restaurant is full of employees 50-60+ years old and they're constantly annoyed by customers. How in the heck did you decide to hire such old, cranky people and put them in a bar in Chelsea? I was standing at the bar and some old waitress yelled at me, "Excuse me! Excuse me! I'm walking by." LOL. Uh yeah, we can all see you, keep walking. It's literally a bar full of angry people trying to serve the younger NYC population. Been here multiple times, always grab a drink before or after an even at MSG. Tonight I ordered a Guinness, a Budweiser, and 2 Jameson shots. The bartender, ( the guy with hair, other bartender was bald, around 11pm..) gave me two Guinness and a Bud Light. I said I'm sorry you must've heard my order incorrectly, to which he replied, "this is what you're getting, so do you want anything else?" I said no you didn't get my order right but that's fine I'll just get this. Having bartenders that are unwilling to admit they made a mistake is intolerable especially in an establishment that has as much patronage as this one in Manhattan. I'd be lying if I said that I don't want this to get back to the bartender that treated me so poorly, hopefully justice is served because there are plenty of other people that deserve a bartending job other than that scumbag. read more

Yuck! Ever eat something and it tastes like the aroma of cat food? You can get that here for $20.95! Their chicken pot pie is truly to die for. Your tastebuds might die or attack you after one bite of the chicken. The whole thing looks gross. The only part that remained classy was the pastry puff on top. I also had a little taste of their shepherd's pie. The same as above but more of a dog food aroma. The texture was gritty and it wasn't a comfortable chew. This was also a whopping $20.95. The only positives were the tap water wasn't cloudy, the side salad was fairly yumm, and the waitstaff service was formidable. I love this pub. When I lived in Jersey, I would always stop at the Molly Wee and wait for the NJtransit train out of Penn Station. It became a tradition. I would us it as a meeting point for friends, a rallying point for meeting back up after a Saturday trip into the city, and a go to when I simply needed a drink. So we needed a quick meet up spot in midtown and decided to try Molly Wee. The space looks like a pub - long bar, tables, color scheme. We got a table right away but our servers were forgetful. My friend ordered a second pint of the same beer but somehow got something totally different. We decided to have some chicken tenders while we chatted. The tenders were delicious and crispy. The problem is that there were three moderately sized chicken tenders over some limp lettuce on a huge plate for $13. I know we were in midtown but it was a little much. Overall, not sure if I would return. We did not find the family atmosphere and friendliness that others wrote about. read more

I will tell you that I do a lot of entertaining at Madison Square Garden, my pregame locale was the Blarney Stone on 8th Avenue. I started going to the Molly Wee, reason....the soda mix at the Blarney Stone is deplorable. How can you ruin a Jack n coke? Bad soda....the drinks at the Molly Wee are Great unfortunately the food is far below par and the service is borderline terrible. The service Very cold at best and I never feel like I am welcome there. The hostess is more interested in what you are ordering for dinner rather than providing great service. I had arranged for 6 alcoholics join me at the Molly Wee prior to Billy Joel at the garden. I asked the hostess who I think is at least a partner for a table for 6, I got the is everyone here? No they will be here shortly.....sorry I have one table for you but I cannot give it to you until they are all here. Fine, can I have the table for 2? Are you ordering food? No not yet.....go to the bar Fine 2 of my guests come and she does me the favor of Seating us, thankfully my 5th and 6th come within a minute and we all sit. We were rushed, asked several times if we were ordering food, mind you at least 2 rounds of cocktails had been very ordered and yes we did order several appetizers for the table. Mind you I would have rather had frozen Friday's appetizers... Glasses and plates were yanked quickly and comments of "I need to turn the table" were clearly heard. All of the staff welcomes you with open arms and bends over backwards to treat you like royalty. Located in the heart of midtown west, you'll be transported to Ireland by the friendliness and well, accents of those that work here. With 6 TVs you can always count on your favorite game showing for you to enjoy. Oh it's not? No worries, every time I have been here, Sean, Alicia or anyone else who works here has been more than willing to turn on whichever game I ask for. 1/2 star begone, my used-to-be-favored Molly Wee :*-( After building up tons of hype about dear Molly to my last midtown cast, I persuaded them to ditch Mustang Sally's and head over to Molly Wee for the long list of drink specials, awesome portion sizes, and heavy pours. Sadly, their portion sizes have seriously diminished while the prices have stayed the same (there was a mere sprinkling of fries on my steak sandwich plate...so few that I could easily see the bottom of said plate). There were only two drink specials - which were just variations on each other - and they no longer run all night! And the drinks poured weren't as heavy handed as before. At least this time the waitress did her best to keep her attitude in check. It was still radiating. But she was actively trying to keep it at bay...so points for that. And the bartender was nice. So plus there. Meh. 2.5 rating. But methinks t'is time to return to my old water spots :-( read more

After a long bus trip up to the city, we were hungry, tired, cold and somewhat confused as to where to go to meet up with our friends. We stumbled upon this wonderful little gem and were immediately greeted by an Irishman in an Irish pub (I know that sounds fitting, but I've been to many where that is NOT the case - altho in NYC, I've found they are easy to come by). Paul was our bartenders' name. He was so cool and funny and overall an awesome man - attractive too! - so I TOTALLY recommend this place if you are ever in the area and/or just want some good conversation with great atmosphere and a super nice bartender (who's a cutie) to tend to your every drinking need. This place is great! Ended up having friends meet up there and drank a bit more before retiring for the evening. Overall, great nights and memories to be had when Molly Wee is involved!! Also, I was there on a sunday evening (after 12am) / monday morning .... can't speak for how it is on weekends so much. read more

The wings here are above the rest, good size, great bite, carrots and celery included. The blue cheese was excellent. A nice size platter that did not overwhelm you with to many wings, just the right amount. I'm going to be hitting this place on my way home from the city more often.
