Just tried Mombo's for the first time yesterday and have to say that this is the best pizza I've had in Santa Rosa and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I've been in here many times before. This was my 1st time in since the remodel. Wow! What a difference! Now, I really don't mind going to places that look like a hole in the wall & while Mombo's didn't quite fit that bill, the change after the remodel is fantastic. New countertops and tables, rearranged positions for the drink machine. The staff was just as friendly as ever. The Pizza was something I realized I'd missed terribly. I have been coming for years and decided I can't take away that 5th star just because my favorite pizza option isn't always available. LOL Stopped in again yesterday and my "mushroom cloud" was sitting next to these new things I'd never seen - their version of Stromboli. Oh the dilemma! Received the most horrible service @ Santa Rosa just now. I had points to use towards a discount on pizza and was told that I couldn't use them because I purchased with a different credit card. I told them that I had to cancel my previous credit card and was told there was nothing that could be done about it. The manager was no help at all. I always bought pizza from here thinking I could use my points and now told too bad so sorry cause you purchases with another card. Needed some TNF game day pizza and wings.....The pizza just wasn't there...usually a pie can have at least 1 of the main 3 down (crust, sauce, cheese,) but this pie was way below average on all 3. Wings were decent. I would prefer a frozen pie or maybe tacos over ordering here again. read more

I used to not like Mambo's at all. I have been living near them for 6 years. When they remodeled and changed it up a bit they really turned it around. The pizza is excellent now, the place looks awesome. Their ranch and Caesar are on point. Prices are great, and the best part of the place is it's open til 12 every night! Its like living in ny. Will always be one of my favorite pizza places in the whole county. The pesto and the ricotta are standouts here, so I combine them both for a pizza that never fails to delight. Colby adds pepperoni to his half to satisfy his meaty manly cravings. The slices are great too. If you stop by and don't see a slice you like try asking for a slice of cheese and add a couple toppings. They are happy to oblige, and you will be happy. Win win. read more

I've been a customer since Mombos opened in Santa Rosa California. I always am greeted by employee's and the ingredients are fresh and crust is always done to perfection. Please do yourself a favor and take my word for what I'm about to tell you... THIS IS REALLY BAD PIZZA MADE BY PEOPLE - KIDS, ACTUALLY - THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE PIZZA. It is definitely not East Coast (not that any of the other places around here claiming to be EC are nailing it, per se). But these guys are really slinging some low quality trash pie. The crust: just awful, leathery, undercooked, no flavor, thin but in a weird way. The sauce: what sauce? It's totally hidden by the absolute flood of grease covering this thing. Grease like you wouldn't believe. Grease that renders the middle 2/3 of the pie completely soggy and inedible. Yes, "NY style" pizza in CA generally sucks but this place gets 1 star after grading with a curve. Also, amazingly expensive, especially considering the abysmal quality of the food you get in return for your money. Don't ruin your day with this fugazy garbage! read more

Came in an hour before they close, went straight to mombo's after work. staff already cleaning when we arrived, ordered 2 meatball sub, but got told they can only make one meatball sub, so we got one chicken parm instead, the guy who's cooking our food kept looking at us like kindda pissed. I'm not exactly a NY style pizza kind of guy. I'm into Chicago style thick crust 9 pounds of cheese style. However as far as NY pies go, this place takes the cake. I mean... Pie... They take the pie. I'm giving 4 stars not 5 because I'm not a fan of thin crust. It's a small place with no service really but it is legit. I mean... legitimate. What I don't accept is an order taking considerably longer than expected. The pizza was out over 10 minutes later than it was supposed to. They sell pizza by the slice like in NYC, which is perfect because their slices are huge! They also have a student discount for SRJC students which I LOVE. There are so many reasons I can give as to why you should support this business but, I think you should just go try the pizza and you will have your own reasons. :) read more

I ordered a large pizza last night and it was so gross ): Not crispy at all, & I ordered no greasy toppings (other than cheese). The slices were ripping in halfs/thirds and falling apart. The toppings weren't attached to the pizza and went everywhere. Everyones arms got completely soaked in grease. So so much oil. Flavor was 7/10 but texture ruined it. Reheating made it worse. If you order a pesto sauce pizza it's still a marinara pizza with a bit of pesto added sporadically. They will not tell you that pesto can only be a topping not a sauce. Super disappointing as a person who can't handle the acidity of tomato sauces and had already paid for this food. Regardless nobody should be getting anything but what they asked for. Only white sauce option for pizzas was ranch, no Alfredo. I will say the ranch was amazing though if you're into the zesty kind. It's like they put blue cheese or fish paste in it. I got a few extra orders of bread bites just to enjoy the ranch. The wait was 30 for a pizza, 15 for bread bites which wasn't bad considering the place was packed. 2 stars for wait time and the ranch and minus one for not warning people that pesto pizzas still have tomato sauce even with a $7 upcharge for pesto sauce. read more

This is the definition of don't judge a book by its cover. First of all the place is hard to spot, but that's where the negatives end. I moved here from Jersey many years ago and have a found a few good pizza places, so far this one is the best! I had their Sicilian slices and it could not have been done better. "OK in a pinch" is what I'm taking from another reviewer. Their pizza is thin, not traditional thin crust, more a hand tossed thin variety. Big slices and go for about $3.75 each. This place would be best suited for a late night crowd, those hammered and in need of something oily to get inside before the trek home. The hand tossed aspect of it makes the slice a little puffy with a soft chew. By no means crispy at all. They offer many interesting pie varieties and probably look spectacular when you order a full pie to go. Walking in randomly on this weeknight, most of their pies looked as if they had been sitting some time. (But that's the gamble for the pizza maker of when to make new pies.) Photo's online look much more appetizing and with that I would consider purchasing a fresh pie to go, sometime. This time we opted for a couple pepperoni slices. I really wanted the fresh basil, mozzarella slice but it looked to tired to move. My slice was like the service, okay. Interesting detail, there is some kind of discount when you recycle a pizza box (?) Also I noticed when guy took a plate to place my slice on, the plate was a used plate with stains on it. He laid down this soiled plate, then topped it with a fresh sheet of tissue and then placed the slice. That's a cool way to be more sustainable and create less waste. Just.. it'd been nice if he mentioned it instead of watching to see my reaction to the doing. Makes me wonder if the intent is to be more conscious & green or they are trying to cut costs. read more

After not ordering from Mombos after a few years due to a move across town, thought I'd give it a try for my birthday dinner. Wow. Ordered two 12" pizzas, the combo and a mushroom, olive, pepperoni. I could not have been more disappointed. It was the crust and lack of toppings, neither was an issue in the past. I could swear the crust was a pre-made frozen crust. Identical in form, no outside rim crust, tasteless, and mealy. This was not the hand thrown crust I expect from Mombos. Toppings were sparse on the three item combo, too. Sorry, Mombos, you have some explaining to do before I risk trying you again. Way to ruin my birthday. read more

They are okay. Not the best pizza and certainly not the worst. Took about 45 minutes for a small pizza and it was just okay. I would say Mombo's is a step up from Little Caesars, Papa John's and Pizza Hut but not better than Domino's. They claim to be the best pizza in the North Bay, yeah no, far from it actually. I go into Mambos pizza about once a month. Love this place. Today not so much. First I started to order my pizza the young man walked away before I was finished. The cashier had to finish my order and the same young man grabbed the wrong piece. So the cashier came in and grabbed the pizza for me without putting gloves on or washing his hands. Normally I would assume his hands where clean but he just rang up 4 other people. After ringing up a few more people he proceeds to get my pizza out and put it in my box again without putting gloves on, or washing his hands. I don't usually complain but I feel like this isn't ok. The smallest of my complaints would be is my cheese pizza was the size of like little Caesars pizza( a bit bigger). Grrr I come in because all I need is one slice each for 3 people and I love the pizza. So I'm disappointed. read more
