Not sure about reviews saying the dance floor is tiny. The dance floor is pretty much the entire bar. Drinks are fine, but weak. DJ bossa nova was a lot of fun. It was a mix of early 2000s R&B, top 40, and the occasional oldie. Crowd is a bit young and kind of fratty, but the vibes are good. read more

I don't really understand the hype. Our group waited for over an hour in line and were never let in. While waiting in line several other groups who "knew the bartender" were let in in front of us. Im newish to this area of town, and as soon as I stepped in the door I knew it was my new local watering hole! The staff is INSANELY hospitable and its shocking how awesome they are! Teri is freakin awesome! It feels like all the staff are your cool cousins at the crazy family reunion. LAs a crazy town, but when you walk in Mom's you feel some of the weight lift off your shoulders. PLUS their happy hour makes me well...happy. $5 drafts and wells till 8pm! Its Tasty Thu (or should I say Thursty Thu)?! My b'ness associate and I were not ready to call it a night yet, and we were in the Sawtelle area. The handy dandy Yelp app said Mom's Bar should do the trick! It was correct!!! Mom's is on SM Blvd, west of Bundy on the Westside. The first thing I noticed about this place is the low prices! We had a Don Julio rocks and a Stella for $12. The same drinks would have cost us $21 at Bandera where we were prior to Mom's: 4 Stars. Secondarily, the bartender was hawt, and the waitress was supah nice & friendly. It was real easy to get a drink or two. Additionally, they serve complimentary, homemade chips: 4 Stars. The only downside to Mom's was it was karaoke night on Wed when we visited (plus there was no hawt patrons). The peeps holding the mike couldn't sing worth a damn! However, if you are looking for cheap drinks, chill peeps, and parking on the street, Mom's is the right place for you. read more

I came here for the first time on a Saturday day. Place was full and had great energy. The music was very good and the crowd was dancing and having a great time. Drinks were reasonably priced and the bartenders were friendly. I lost my car remote while there and emailed/called them the next day and Ben responded back that they'll have their janitors look for it. Stopped in here by accident to pre-game last week before going to pretentious Beverly Hills restaurant for a client dinner. Mom's bar was a wonderful throwback bar with a classic set up, dim lights, and a legit dirty Martini. Bartender was friendly and chatted up with me a bit. Prices are surprisingly fair. Mom's bar is A-OK. Definitely not a favorite of mine, I felt this place was pretty average on all levels. From the rude(ish) bouncer that looked like he'd rather die than be working, to the strict dress-code and way too serious ambiance, this place inhibits fun and good times. The workers here were very serious, and I felt intimidated just trying to get in. Once in, the place seemed to be alright. The atmosphere was ok, with a seemingly crowded dance area and an average looking bar. They have a back room here with a fireplace and comfy seating, which was a fun spot to relax and enjoy drinks with friends. That was probably the only real highlight of this place. Drink prices were OK, and the people here were generally nice for the most part. Our group walked, so fortunately we didn't have to deal with parking. While I probably won't be back, I wouldn't say this was the worst experience I've ever had. Go ahead and give it a try, maybe you'll have a better time. read more

How the heck have I not written a review for this place yet?! I'm here all the time, and when I'm not believe me I wish I was. Beer is cheap and good at $5 bucks a piece and even chepaer during happy hour. There's no food, but you can bring some in from the outside if you like, especially since there's often a food truck sitting out front on weekend nights. My favorite nights are Friday and Saturday because I'm the dancing queen and their DJ is pretty much always on point. Of the many times I've been here only one night was off (the DJ played all slow dubstep all night and I cried in my beer :l ) but again that was only one night of many. It's safe to say Mom's is also the one bar I can invite all my friends to no matter their usual scene, and every one has a good time. Can't get enough. Will always come back ;P read more

This place is okay, honestly nothing special at all, I came here today and was underwhelmed. It's located in a great area on Santa Monica Blvd in the heart of West Los Angeles. Besides the decent prices for happy hour, nothing else really stood out at all. It was way too dark, which got annoying pretty quickly but i guess that's the vibe they're going for. No food is sold here either which kinda sucks, but they're a bar and focused on drinks, so can't knock them on that. Another thing that was a bit frustrating is it was game 1 of the NBA finals, and people were clearly trying to watch, they only had 2 TVs on the game, but did not have the sound of the game on, but then they turned the sound of the game on and kept music on which was weird, then they completely turned off the sound of the game. Overall, drinks were well priced and made well by the bartender, but my overall experience was mediocre at best. 4 stars because the vibes weren't bad and location is top notch. read more

If you're looking for a bar to just chill at, Mom's Bar is one such place. If you're looking for a bar to get loose, Mom's Bar is one such place. It's deceptively spacious here and the drinks are decently priced unlike dtla bars. Now what am I even supposed to write for Mom's Bar? I don't know, you go get drinks, hang out with friends, dance to the music (the DJ puts out some good stuff ranging from hip hop to oldies), get sloppily drunk with coworkers (no don't do that), or meet new people. At the very least, the bartenders here are very friendly and provide very good service. What I appreciate most about Mom's Bar is how relaxed it is with no dress code (but obviously don't go in wearing a tank top, shorts, and sandals) and get this, you can bring food inside. So you want to munch on some snacks while drinking and dancing? Go right ahead and bring that bag of chips or box of pizza hut or bowl of ramen. Parking is fairly easy too, just cross your fingers and hope for street parking. Unless you're drunk, then find a designated driver and shove the responsibility of street parking on them. read more

I usually don't give one star reviews because I pride myself on being impartial and also because of the impact they have on local businesses. It was difficult for me to leave a harsh review for a place that has been a staple of my time in LA, but it was necessary. The bar itself is objectivelyfine - it's very dive-y and has a lot of space for dancing/ sitting/whatever strikes your fancy. What's unacceptable to me is the lewd conduct of the security staff. My friend and I had been waiting in line for an open restroom stall, and as soon as one had opened up, we went in during our turn. While we were inside, men were harassing us from outside, pounding on the doors and demanding us to come out because it was labeled as a men's stall. We let them know that we had been waiting longer than them, but would finish soon. They kept pestering us by pounding on the door. At that point, one of the security guards FORCIBLY opened the door MULTIPLE TIMES when we were not done. Even after I told him we were not done, he pried the door open, exposing us to all the hecklers outside. Not only was this demeaning, but was sexually invasive. He yelled at us for entering a stall meant for men, caused a scene, and demanded us to leave. The most laughable part of this situation is that the people who were in the stall before us were women. When we mentioned this to him later, his only reaction was to take a puff from his juul and say (in the most condescending way possible), that he didn't catch them and only us. Conveniently, the women in the restroom before us were white, he was white, and I was not Also conveniently, I will never return to Mom's bar (or should I rename it, Trump's bar???) read more

First timer!!! Heard about this place a couple of times and had to check it out. Got there around 8:30pm on a Saturday because we just had finished watching some football down the street. Place has a nice ambience and it's actually pretty big as they have more space and seating in the back. Bartenders are great and the prices for drinks are reasonable. They had a DJ come around 9ish and he was playing the jams! Plays top 40, hip hop, RnB, pop, and some dance music. Was totally vibing out. Crowd starts to show up around 10:30-11:30. Watch out for the mousy librarian like bartender. She didn't pour a full shot and when we tried to contest it, she took the drink away (despite the fact that I had already paid for it) and called the bouncer to escort my partner out of the bar. It was extremely unprofessional how she escalated the situation for no reason (it was literally our second drink of the night). I was then escorted out when I began trying to take pictures of the bartender in order to write this review... They made it very clear that they didn't want me posting a negative review. Sad how somewhere that has such potential could treat customers and deal with a situation in such an unprofessional manner. read more

If you are from Chicago we all know the famous Greenbay Packers bars on Racine and Wells. Think about those and multiply by a gazillion on game days. Moms Bar will blow your mind. It's run by the most fun loving and generous people around. The only area without a tv is the bathroom and that may be coming! Ok, ok let me back up. First the drinks are cheap and they don't skimp on the booze! When Packers play it screams fun. The sound system is cranked. You can even buy a couch to watch the game on. A COUCH!!!!! If all of this don't get ya moving they also pass out shots when Packers score. Brats are FREE and pizza too! I just can't stress the heartfelt warmth from these people. They love the Packers and they love their patrons too. If you are in the LA area and Greenbay is playing please take some time and check this place out. You will leave a much happier person. Side note: They should have shirts made.....size 2XL!!!! read more

Horrible service We were able to order one drink and then were completely ignored by the 2 bartenders.. there was 4 other customers in there... some regulars walked in and said hi to tori I think her name was and she served them and left us standing there ... Edit: I heard back from Mom's. They said the the back door didn't need to be closed and apologized for that, as well as the wet bathroom floor. They understand my hesitancy about crowded bars. They want to make it right and have invited me to return. It's nice to hear back from places that want you to give them another chance, and I'm looking forward to doing that someday. I appreciate the classy response. I was really excited to check out this Packers bar for this weekend's game. Especially after reading they had a "full service patio." Picked up a fellow cheesehead mom and got there right when it was supposed to open. Guess they opened early because it was packed. Showed our vax records and made our way through the crowded bar to the back patio... where it was empty (yay!) but there were no TVs (booo). Guess you can't watch the game outside. We find spots by the back door that had a TV that was in view. We're still a little crowd shy since we've been in a two year pandemic and we have little ones at home we are still trying to keep safe. But with a door open, it feels ok enough. Cue security coming to close the door. We open it again, they close it. And repeat. "The boss likes this door closed." "Protocol says this door must be closed." But... fresh air and pandemic? Nope. Also with the door closed, it was pitch black. I go to the bathroom and my friend orders a drink while we figure out what we're going to do. In the bathroom, it is also pitch black. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to even see the toilet seat. Floor was wet (ew) so I had to hold up my purse and phone while trying to pee. Super fun. This place sure doesn't make me feel safe. When I got back to my friend, we slammed our drinks, grabbed a slice of pizza from the server (nice touch) and got outta there. Headed to a sports bar nearby that had the game on the patio, and had also separated Packers fans and Niners fans in different sections, which I thought was nice. Had lots of food and drinks. Too bad Moms wasn't really safe enough for these two moms. Maybe some other decade we'll try again, as it's clear we won't trust crowded, enclosed spaces anytime soon. The other bartender walked in about halfway through the wait. He noticed how long he'd been waiting and came over to take our order. Terrible spot. Wish I could give them -5 stars. The girl bar tender is rude and kicks out ppl for no reason, discriminates, and makes the entire atmosphere a drag. She once cut me off for reaching behind the bar when I had accidentally thought the drink was done. She rudely yelled at me and I was shocked by her approach to the situation. I asked her to speak to the manager, and she stated that she was the manager. (Which was entirely untrue) I felt extremely picked on and when I asked her why she cut me off she stated "we don't serve people like you." Which could been interpreted in many ways. They may have cheap drinks, but they also have cheap service. Not that hard to be kind and have respect for customers. Many of my coworkers have had similar experiences. read more

Ohhhh, Mom's. I don't even know where to start but this used to be my go-to dive bar since I lived nearby and the drinks were cheap. Now that I have to make an effort to actually drive and get here, the novelty has kind of worn off. Show up by 10pm on the weekends if you don't want to wait in line outside but either way, it'll probably be jam-packed when you get in. The bartenders definitely get the job done though by constantly taking new orders and making drinks quickly. (But they're usually pretty weak tbh so I opt for beer here...either way the drinks are super cheap!) My main issue is that the music is always hit or miss so sometimes it'll be a lot of fun with the crowd dancing but other times the DJ only plays like 60 seconds of each song before making an awkward transition to the next and no one is into it. That combined with the sheer amount of people they try to stuff into one room is enough to make me never want to stay too long. I've had good experiences and bad experiences here but "ratchet" is a word that comes to mind when I think of Mom's...whether or not that's a good thing is up to you. read more
