You absolutely NEVER turn away business like that. You take the order and relay to the guest that their wait time will be longer due to current volume. Server took 20 minutes to come to table after being seated. Asked for water with lemon, she then took another 10 minutes to bring the lemon because it wasn't brought with the water. We ordered steak fajitas, steak burrito, kids steak fajitas. The two fajita orders came out completely cold, not sizzling or smoking how they usually do. (Other orders were being brought out at the same time how they are supposed to come out. She had no knowledge on simple menu items when I asked for the differences in beans, I can tell she was getting frustrated. My fajitas meal personally was very cold and tortillas tasted as if they were old leftovers. Also the fajita meat was cut into chunks , not sliced and very chewy. I will not be going back. Not to mention the sides that come with the dish looked like they had been sitting on the plate all day and the portions were dramatically tiny. My husband insisted on still giving a regular tip, I don't think the meal even deserved to be paid for. Oh, and lastly, she brought back the wrong amount of change. I visited the s location for the first time, as we came we asked for a table outside but the lady told us that there was no table outside as she sat us down next to window we notice about 5 tables outside that were empty this was the beginning. They set us down and gave us menu fifteen minutes passed and no wait be had come to see what we wanted to drink or eat finally the one of the managers apparently came as brought us some chips another 15 minutes went by before we had to tell waitress that we needed some service while 3 different waitresses were having a great time chatting and being really friendly to a couple of young guys which even saw that they brought them several tequila shots and her her say is on is on us That really got me frustrated as how they treat apparently their friends and ignore the clients after we call her and asked for her please take out orders funny enough the person who set us down came by our table and asked us that if we could go to google and give them a good rating both my wife and I and that she would give each one of us a free house margarita we both said no and thank we did not want to do any survey ( we will not be bought for a simple margarita sorry ) do your job right and I would gladly leave a great review my wife order the chicken fajita while I order a burrito with out any rice inside just steak and beans inside well they brought my wife's fajitas about 15 minutes later but not my burrito only about 10 minutes later they bring my burrito and of course with rice inside whe I especially asked them not to This is the worse experience I have had at restaurant in the last 15 years their customer service literally sucks would tell everyone I know not to ever go there again Sorry but if I could I would of given this place a minus rating awful customer service and the food my wife said she has had better in other places I sent mine back and told them to take off my bill because they did not bring me what I order read more

First time here. Not sure I am coming back. Food was ok. Guacamole and salsa was good. The problem was the bill. First we were incorrectly billed for things we did not order which was resolved. Then with a group of seven people a 20% tip was added on to our bill without warning. If there were any comments on the menu no one in our group saw it. Then it's 20% of the original total if you took part in the 2 for 1 drink deal. So I was forced to over tip on something that was free. Not sure I understand that. read more

So I was the first person to review this business 8 years ago and just let me say, It has come a long way! Monarcas is currently one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants for lunch. The enchiladas are very savory, the tacos and burritos are also good and the service is decent. The outside patio dining by the water makes the meal that much more enjoyable. I find myself ordering the brisket tacos. With rice and beans with the El Diablo jalapeño margarita being a current recommendation as my favorite. Husband ordered a cheese dip for an app, it was brought before the food however no chips were brought with it. We asked for chips to eat with it and none were ever brought. That was a waste of $10. The rest was just down hill....... Asked for refills and none brought. Got 1 water the entire dinner. Husband asked for more tortillas for his steak fajitas and 20 minutes later everyone was done eating and she came back without them asking if we wanted another margarita. We said yes and asked for more tortillas. 15 minutes later got margaritas and no tortillas. With all the places to choose from we will NOT COME BACK. NOR DO I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNTIL THEY GET WAITSTAFF WHO CARES. Heck even on the way out we passed 7 workers and not even one said "have a good night". Wanted to check out this Mexican joint since it opened. Finally had dinner here last night with family. I can say that service was decent & they had exceptional decor . Wood carvings details on heavy wooden chairs and many walls paintings/tiles to have that extra Mexican touch. Wouldn't exactly return for the actual food itself. Salsa just didn't have that fresh taste. But I must say, the notches with cheese was pretty good. I ordered the Snapper filet which was dry and sort of bland in my opinion. I'm hoping they'll work on the taste of food before we try this place again. read more

Mediocre service and food, not worth the expensive price. We came here for lunch and fully regret purchasing the mixed fajitas. Seriously, find something else on the menu, the steak is like rubber, you will spend a good portion of the time chewing it. My daughter ordered the kids menu chimichanga and they brought out a full size and charged for it (I'm not the type to throw a fit over it, you prepared that much food). Nonetheless you can find better elsewhere that doesn't charge $5 for a fountain drink and actually listens when you order. read more

The worst dining experience in a long time! 1. Her drink: Zona Rosa, skinny, up, in a small martini glass. Took 4 tries to get it right. Had to go talk to the bartender directly. 2. My side shot of Heradura añejo, no salt, no lime, no ice: took 20 mintues and had salt. I had to retrieve it from the bar. 3. Me: Salmon salad: ordered rare inside. Got hard, dry, rubbery. 4. Just placed an online order for dinner yesterday. I ordered 6 entrees and two orders of large chips and salsa. They managed to get every entree order wrong except one and gave me one small bag of chips and two guacamole orders. Our bill was over $140. Very dissatisfied. Once we were ready our server was right there to take our order. We had just finished our chips when our food came to the table. My wife ordered chicken enchiladas, with white sauce. She enjoyed the retried beans and rice and the enchilada. She got a to-go box for two of the three on the plate. I ordered the taco trio with rice and black beans.
