Today is my Birthday. And the first thing I wanted to eat was my pancakes at Monica's Riverview in Antioch! The food is so good. My goto is the Joe's Scramble which is what I ordered today but my super treat is their Crab Benny with Hollandaise / Fries and Ranch OMG Hubby, Chris ordered the Breakfast burrito with chorizo and linguisa and he loved it! Their pancakes are super delicious .. so good that you don't need any syrup but very convenient for me that they also carry Sugarfree syrup. We come back here not just for the food but for such awesome friendly service in every visit! Today as with other visits, we had Osiris and she is so sweet and offered my hubby to get both meats when he was undecided about getting chorizo or linguisa. She even went out of her way to get a Red Velvet Cupcake for my Birthday today. It's always a treat to come here especially with the ambience and vibe you get just by sitting at the booth with a beautiful Marina view. We are a loyal customer to Monica's Riverview Antioch and will continue to support them. I use to like this place but I think the service and quality declined due to their popularity . The wait time to be seated was extremely long, the wait time to get service or even water was unreasonable and the worst part was the food came COLD. I remember thinking I should have had some snacks before arriving. I didn't appreciate my food was cold when it arrive and we didn't get water when we were seated. read more

A $40 burger?! That's right, shockingly. Their plain ole burger is $24 - wowza wt? Wanna add avocado bacon & cheese? No problem that's another $8. Add tax & tip and, well, that's a $40 1/2 lb., what looks to be very typical, hamburger. Maybe it's amazing-- can't review it bc we walked out with sticker shock, went to whiskey tango foxtrot & got the same, very good, meal for about half the price. I already scoped the menu before hand & on IG I seen they had blueberry stuffed French toast for a limited time recently. When I ordered the blueberry French toast, they didn't have it anymore. I looked at the IG post and it had only been two weeks so it'd be nice for them to advertise how long "limited" will be. That was one of the items I wanted. I was disappointed they didn't have what I came for so I tried to crab sandwich. The sandwich is on a Parmesan crusted bread, filled with warm crab, havarti cheese, and a tomato. It came with fries. For $44, it was mid. Definitely not worth $44, more like $24. Garlic fries were good. My other party said the food was good so they enjoyed it (omelette, pancakes, loaded hash browns). They told us that the table in the middle of the restaurant was the only option, and the back area was about to close when we came in, however, a couple of other groups that came after us were brought to the tables in the back area. Don't recommend coming, went in on a Friday at 3:30 and the bar is closed during the week apparently .They wanted me to stand there and wait for somebody to come make me a drink at the receptionist stand. I keep trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt but every time I go, the service sucks the food sucks. The drink sucks so don't recommend going. I'd call this a little gem for Antioch! Came here for bunch and we were seated promptly. We went shortly after they opened so it wasn't too busy yet. Love the view of the water! Went here with my nephew as I was surprised at where the restaurant sat in Antioch. It was literally on the Delta with boats zooming by what a vibe. I had what was called the going coastal omelette. It consisted of real crab meat, shrimp, jack cheese, chives and hollandaise on the side. It was a nice size portion with country potatoes as a pairing. I was not able to finish it all. i drove all the way from Napa on a Saturday to be told they close 30 min of us getting seated it was only 5:30 drove the whole hour back home and decided to go today which is Sunday I called prior to ask the times i was told 8pm by a younger women I had my fiancé call and ask if they do breakfast all day the guy santiago said yes only sundays he then ask him what time do they close again and he responded 6 so here I am on the freeway confused I asked him what was the manager name he responded Vanessa I asked him to speak w her and told him about my prior experience employee kept hanging the phone up in my face . I'm glad I didn't support this business. service is terrible and the hours are un clear yesterday they said the kitchen was under maintenance along with all the items they ran out of on the menu. Oh Boy it was jam packed so we waited for good 30-40 mins but we finally got the seating (inside) with beautiful views. Next time we went around 8 am which was great there were few people enjoying their breakfast, we got nice seating with amazing views. We ordered- Going costar omelet- Dungeness crab with grilled shrimp, jack cheese, avocado & hollandaise sauce along with country potatoes. Very fresh crab & shrimp - amazing quality of ingredients enjoyed with brown toast & homemade blueberry jam. Roberto's Special with hash brown- 2 Free Range Fresh Eggs Any Style | Homemade Carnitas | Scratch Made Chile Relleno | Tortillas| Refried Beans Our first visit order- Nonni's Polenta & Eggs- polenta, marinara, provolone cheese, Italian sausage, spinach, roasted peppers & eggs. Not to be repeated. We went to Monica's for lunch with no reservations. The wait was surprisingly very short. THAT was the last part that went well. Once at our table, we waited 10 minutes for water, 15 minutes more for a waiter to take our drink order, and another 10 for them to arrive, at which point we placed our meal order. 40 minutes later, the meal finally arrived. My wife had the crab sandwich. There was barely enough crab to cover the bun, and no Aioli spread.. VERY dry. Even worse, the bread had been toasted with grilled parmesan cheese, and was so hard my wife could not get through it. She ended up having to discard the bread and scrape off what there was of crab to eat any of it. I had the crab benedict. The eggs were over-cooked and completely hard, and there was MAYBE a teaspoon of Hollandaise on the entire dish... so again VERY dry. Like my wife's dish it was barely edible. Hard pass on this restaurant. We will go back to dining at Smith's Landing, where we have repeatedly had attentive service and really good food. read more

I came here on Sunday brunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. I'm always hesitant about coming here because there's always a wait. We were placed in the queue at noon and they told us it would be a 30-35 minute wait so we went to the bar while we waited. 2 cocktails and an Irish coffee came out to $50. I got a text that our table was ready so I asked the bartender if I could add our drink tab to our brunch and they said no so I had to close out. We sat down and ordered our food around 12:35pm. We ordered 1 Italian, 2 Mexican omelettes and a salad. The time kept ticking. 40 minutes go by and we're still waiting on our food. It took so long that our waiter moved us to a nicer area by the window. He also gave us an extra cocktail for the wait. We didn't get our food until an hour later. This is completely unacceptable. And we weren't the only ones who looked miserable. The folks who were seated ahead of us also waited at least an hour for their food. Our waiter kept apologizing for the wait but the damage was done. We left before they even bothered wishing us a happy birthday. I've given Monica's a few opportunities. It's not worth the wait or the cost. Don't come here if you're hungry. You're going to be waiting a long time. Pretty sure there are still people waiting for their food right now from yesterday. read more

The hamburger $34 lacked seasoning and flavor, while the crab sandwich, costing $44, was overwhelmed by too much Parmesan cheese. I live in downtown Antioch and remember the excitement of Monica's opening. I have since frequented them over the years -- bringing friends, family, co-workers, visitors, etc. Their menu itself has remained very consistent (mostly the breakfast and lunch menu), with dinner seeing some changes based on other factors (i.e. closing times / hours). I took two of my friends there for lunch yesterday -- I had brought them to dinner there a few months ago and they really enjoyed it, so they were wanting to check out some lunch options. ***** My hope in sharing this review is for management to see and understand that quality in the kitchen is slipping, and that the value and experience is at stake. I WANT Monica's to succeed because I have been supporting and enjoying them for years! We ordered: French Dip w/ Garlic Fries (~ $27.95) Spinach & Berry Salad w/ Grilled Chicken (~ $24.95 + $6) Big A$$ Taco Salad w/ Grilled Shrimp (~ $33.95 + $6) The first issue we noticed was that the garlic fries were literally just a mound of fries with a pinch of chopped garlic and oil placed on the top. Since I've ordered them in the past and enjoyed the garlic, parsley, and parmesan experience of the fries, I was surprised / dismayed. The fries themselves weren't even really hot. The French Dip was brought without the au jus, which we waited on for at least about 7 minutes. The meat itself was a bit dry and didn't taste very fresh. Following that, we all tried the grilled chicken on the salad -- notably dry, seemed like it was reheated in the microwave from the day before. Again, this is NOT my usual Monica's experience AT ALL. The third (and smallest issue) was that my Big A$$ taco salad, though quite big, was missing flavor. It was mostly just romaine (which I will say was crisp), but there were only a few black beans on it, and the onions in it seemed old, as if they'd been left out uncovered from a previous days prep. The salsa and guac was fresh and tasty, as it always is! I want to close with a helpful and important note: The staff/service is solid and responsive. Went for Easter lunch. Sat at 1:15. Ordered at 1:30. Table next to us ordered after us. At 2:20 we hadn't seen our server at all but the table next to us (8 people) was done eating. I flagged down another server and questioned about how much longer? She stated they are short handed and it's a holiday. My grandson then pointed out another table that arrived after us was eating. At 2:45 our food arrived. I went to servers station and got us napkins, walked to three tables and found a partial full catsup bottle and sat down. I saw our server, got up and asked for water. He brought water with no ice and never offered re-fills on soft drinks. Food all around was horrible! My husband was fuming. I am previously a very well known restaurant owner and he is currently silent partner of three. I also watched other guests getting their own napkins and looking for help. One of the best brunch spots hands down!! The service was great as well. We sat at the bar instead of waiting for a table and still got great service from our extremely attractive bartender whom was also very helpful with drink selection too. I order the "Big Ass French toast" and it did not disappoint 10/10!!! The waitress was really kind but the food was not great unfortunately. The hot coco first arrived cold and then the second cup tasted like water. The pancakes also were bland for being chocolate pancakes. The sausage also tasted off and just not what I was expecting. My husbands sandwich was also bland but we were hungry so just decided to eat it. Receipt came out to 57 for two pancakes, two sausages, and a tall sandwich + potatoes. His drink was also just iced tea and not an Arnold Palmer. Probably won't come again for breakfast. read more

I've been here several times over many Years. It's getting worse and worse. The basic burgers are now $30, and are out done by any local food chain for half the price. The server kept forgetting my requests. The bathroom sink was broken and it's one of those faucets that you have to hold down, but only a trickle comes out. Like how hard is it to call a plumber.
