Saw a similar review from a Yelp reviewer. Had a brake issue on a Saturday. Not sure if it could keep until Monday when I could take the car to the Dealership, I checked Monro website and saw several appointments for the afternoon. Making the appointment was easy, thus the extra star. But when I went to this brake service store for some brake service they told me they could not do the work that day. That they were busy. I understand places being busy, but it would have been nice if they took all those appointments off their website so the customers knew if the appoinments were valid. read more

if anything goes wrong with their service, he immediately go into full denial mode, completely ignore the most obvious possibility that they made a mistake and blame customer I was repeatedly I dont know how this happened, but it must be your fault" type explanation of their unsatisfactory service. If you are not convinced with these unreasonable explanation and keep arguing, the manager will shout at you, shutting you down, and walk away from you. That was what happened to me. read more

6/28/2017 ------------------------------------------------ I had my car serviced here on 6/28/2017 for a minor issue & the mechanic noticed that the inner facing portion of my front tires were worn and actually had some steel threads showing. The manager invited me to inspect the tires, which I did. This was a pretty significant safety issue and the mechanic went above & beyond, in my opinion. I appreciate that very much and will definitely return as well as refer others. 5 stars!! read more

I had a problem with a tire going flat with a slow leak, Being in the extreme risk group for CV-19, I was concerned about getting it fixed without undue exposure. Our car had 2 flats and needed to be towed to Monro. Andrew was pleasant on the phone. But as soon as vehicle dropped off, he was an absolute jerk. He told us he'd contact us Monday morning to give status. Not only did he not call us but we called 4 times during the day to get progress report he refused to talk to us and provide updates. We were stuck at a hotel and needed to get back home. When we arrived he was rude to my boyfriend, snapping at him. He didn't inform us that our rims weren't coming in til 5:30pm. We had called to let him know we were on our way at 4pm and he acted as though that worked. Instead when we got there we were left sitting on the curb outside the office in the cold for 2 1/2 hours!!! I would not recommend Andrew to anyone. He has the worst customer service demeanor of anyone I have ever encountered. He left us extremely aggravated and victimized. When we left the spare tire he had given us he didn't even put in the car and we had to knock on the office door as it was closing to tell him that! What a jerk!!! read more

On 7/26/21 Monro performed a total front brake job which cost $1,317.63. Ten days later the vehicle was stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire. Who would have thought the two were related. The observant tow truck driver said the flat tire was due to the caliper not being properly secured, a direct connection to the brake job that was just done. The tow truck driver was so sure this was the case, that he sat at Monro, after towing the vehicle, waiting for the manager to show up for work. After much arguing with Andrew, the manager, I finally contacted the district manager. He ended up making the situation right, after days of no vehicle and much stress. Less than 4 months later, the brakes went on the vehicle. A different repair shop, gave an estimate for the exact same repairs that were supposedly done the first time. I contacted Andrew, who, once again, was very rude and had no customer service skills and did not want to rectify the situation. As a matter of fact, while I was talking to him, he was talking to another employee in the shop, not listening to me. I heard him say "it's not an oil change if you didn't change the filter, so you have to do it again" Anyone that had an oil change done there probably did not get a new filter. I contacted corporate to file a complaint. The district manager, after several days and a second call to corporate, left me a message. When I returned his call and left him a message, he never called me back. After days, again without the vehicle, the second repair shop charged $1,366.45 for the exact same work that was supposed to have been done in July. The company, manager and district manager have not done anything to make this right. I will never do business with this company and will make sure that I tell everyone I can about this experience. I will be filing a claim in small claims court and a complaint with the better business bureau. Do yourself a favor and don't do business with them. Regarding your generic response to my review: I did contact the manager and he had absolutely no customer service skills and was down right rude. I contacted the number several times to no avail. I was given an issue # of 386250. I'm sure you can check your records. If you really want to rectify the situation, you have my contact information in that issue number. read more

I completely lost my brake lines, literally rolled into Monro where they performed an intensive brake job. It took longer than expected and after 3 days Andrew who is the manager stated him and his team weren't leaving until it was finished on Saturday which was 3 hours after closing. If I can give them no star, I would have done that. My husband changes his oil regularly here. Last week, after he changed the oil and on the way to work, he noticed that something was dragging underneath his car. So, he went back to ask what caused this. The pinch pin is missing from the undercover, so it is hanging there and making the sound. My husband asked why it happened and didn't cover it adequately after draining the old oil. They said it has initially been like that, and they had nothing to do with it. First, my husband only changes his oil there since he got the car. Second, it did not happen until he changed oil that day. Third, they did not mention anything about the missing pinch pin from the undercover. (What uncareful and untrustworthy customer care!) So, my husband explained to them it just happened right after I changed the oil and drove to work. Monro East Lyme store is the only place he changes the oil, and other than that, his undercover has never been removed. My husband asked them to fix it, but they refused it. My husband called the headquarter of Monro to file a complaint. They asked him to wait for two to three days to get a response from them. No answer. We are so ungrateful with their customer service with trust and responsible issues. We are filing this to Better Business Bureau. read more

I purchased and had 4 new tires installed 3 weeks ago. I just had a flat (hey sometimes it happens) The problem was when I removed the lug nuts, one nut was frozen or cross threaded and the stud snapped. The manager told me they would not replace the stud at their expense as the stud is a "wear and tear item" Really! On a 2 year old car that the tires were just replaced on. I don't think so! I don't recommend them as they were unresponsive and adamant it was not their fault and that it would cost me $75 to replace the stud. You would think after spending more than $500 on tires there, they would like to foster customer satisfaction, but I guess not. DON'T GO THERE! read more

My husband was in this Niantic Location the week before an told me to bring our daughters car there the following week, as I pulled up one of the big doors to the shop area opened an they were backing out a car, I looked over and could clearly see a girl in there smoking!! I dont want my vehicles around smoke. I went home and called my husband who told me that she works there and when he was in there the week before that it smelled of smoke an he thought it was just another customer but that at the end he had seen that same girl smoking out front where there is a gas station just feet away. Im so annoyed, not even sure this is legal but dont want my cars smelling of smoke. read more

I have done business with this location for many years before they took on the Monroe franchise, and had noticed the quality, service, and professionalism going downhill. I had also noticed certain, shall we say, discrepancies, between what Monroe mechanics told me and what my dealership, where I also sometimes go for service, told me. That bothered me somewhat, but I continued to go to them for basic service while I tried to find another mechanic, until a couple of weeks ago when I broke down in New Haven due to overheating and had it towed in. I was told that it just needed fluids and had a tune-up and oil change done, as well as a top-up of the coolant. When my husband picked the car up the next day, the oil light came on - the mechanic had forgotten to refill it with oil after draining and swapping the filter. That worried me, but they assured me there would be no lasting damage from the few seconds of lack, and to be fair, I don't know that there would have been, but it highlights the negligence. The problem came two weeks later, when it overheated again under much less strenuous conditions, and this time I took it to my dealership for a second opinion. The mechanic at the dealership didn't need two seconds of it on the lift to tell us that my exhaust system had cracked and come loose from the rear catalytic converter so that the engine heat was staying in the engine compartment rather than going out the back, which likely overwhelmed the radiator and cooling systems. It is quite clear that Monroe never did a full inspection or they would have seen it and recommended repairs. Unfortunately, the damage was done. My head gasket was blown and between that and the exhaust system, the repairs were worth more than the car. They have refused to apologize or to make anything right for their negligence, not even comping the "work" they did do that day. I will never take another vehicle here for ANY reason, and neither should you. Just the lack of oil alone should have clued me in to take it straight to the dealership, that they might have missed something else, but I guess I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and as I said, my family has done business with this location a very long time. I cannot express enough my disappointment and my anger. Do not bring your vehicle here for even the most basic of repairs. read more
