I was pleasantly surprised that the low pricing was not reflected in the quality of the food. We had the pork cutlet plate + a side of curry, spicy black garlic ramen and a chashu ajitima bowl. Everything was tasty and service was so friendly and fast. What I liked most: well made miso soup, the minced pork and garlic in the curry, perfectly cooked soft boiled eggs and very resonable pricing. What could have been better: the cabbage dressing was a tad sweeter than I like and location was a little inconvenient (parking was hard to come by) We'll be back for sure!
This is one of the cheapest places to get a meal in all of San Diego- you can even get a bowl of ramen for like $13. It's a fairly small storefront- can seat maybe a dozen small tables and I've never seen more than 2 staff working at once. With that said, the girl working when I ate here last was very friendly and helpful and made sure our waters were filled. The food is good- nothing to write home about compared to all the other options here on convoy but one of the best affordable places to go.
Pros: Service was great, plenty of parking and the food is on the cheaper side in comparison to other ramen shops. The garlic soy fried chicken was pretty good! Cons: mediocre ramen, I got the black garlic ramen but it tasted diluted and lukewarm. Id describe it as the fast food of ramens (casual and perhaps lower quality)
Curry here is so good and huge portions that I came back. I had the chicken cutlet with curry. Then I ordered Gyudonjidon and teriyaki skewers to go. The prices and decent. As for ramen I highly recommend ordering ramen curry. It's not on the menu you have to tell them. I've also had their potato croquettes it's very good it's like a fried mashed potato patty. I highly recommend this for appetizers. The parking is complimentary for 120 minutes.
This review is for the curry rice only. We ordered the chicken cutlet curry rive and the portion and price was very reasonable at $13. The inside wasn't busy on a Saturday afternoon. The food came out pretty fast and had good flavor. The parking lot here is quite big and is complementary for the first two hours which is a huge plus for the Convoy area.
Monsta Ramen is my go to spot for Japanese curry! When you enter, it's open seating and there's plenty of to choose from. The staff are friendly and can answer any questions/make adjustments to your order if needed. I always get the chicken cutlet curry with added spices on the side. The chicken cutlet (chicken katsu) is crispy, moist, and fresh. The curry is seasoned well and has beef in it as well. The quality of the food and service is always consistent! They used to serve Hi-Chew at the end of your meal and I noticed recently they don't do it anymore. If possible, please bring that back :) I'm so glad I found this spot last year!
I can appreciate a good ramen bowl that is very well priced in this economy. This spot advocates for low price and good quality and that is exactly what you get. A bowl of ramen is about $13 or so and that's rare to come by nowadays. I got the black garlic ramen and it was delicious. The portion is pretty much equivalent to your average bowl of ramen. The broth was flavorful and you can definitely taste the garlic. The noodles were chewy and the chashu was mostly lean with a little bit of fat. The egg also tastes like it's been steeped in alcohol which is a plus. I wouldn't say it's the best black garlic ramen I've had but for the price I could say it's definitely worth it for what they give you. The service was also very nice. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like and water was given immediately. It's a great spot for anyone wanting a hearty and reasonably priced meal.
This cozy restaurant was what we needed on a cold evening for an affordable bowl of ramen! The server was really kind, & helped us answer questions we had about the menu. The food was priced well & comes out very quickly. * Soy Garlic Chicken Karaage - 8/10 (the chicken itself was pretty juicy. we just thought the breading was too soggy. the sauce did have a yummy soy garlic flavor) * Black Garlic Ramen - 7.5/10 (it was good for the price but the soup was very oily. the soft egg was cooked well & delicious, but we wish they didn't just give a half an egg. the chashu was tender & had a great amount of fattiness. we appreciate the addition of the corn & bamboo shoots. the noodles were just your average ramen noodle, & lacking bounciness. overall, great for the price but average for a ramen)
"Scary good prices & quality" is their tagline and Monsta Ramen lives up to it. I was poking around for good ramen places and there were a lot with $18-$20 bowls, but then when Monsta popped up, it was a revelation. $13 regular with a daily Tonkatsu ramen special of $10?? I was sold. We came to this strip mall early for dinner since we were still on East Coast time and Monsta was pretty empty, but by 6pm, it had filled up. Ordering off the QR code menu was a snap, though our very nice server would have readily taken the order. Just over the half glass frosted partition next to our table was the open kitchen where the ramen artisans were slinging their craft. Dishes are prepared fast & served hot. First, our appetizers of Gyoza (5 for $4) & Kurabata Sausages (3 for $3) hit the table and we dived in. Gyoza were crispy crunchy and the sausages had a good snap. The wife's Black Garlic Ramen came out steaming and the garlic aroma was wafting. She said the chew on the ramen noodles was perfect. The cutlet of my Pork Katsu Curry Rice was crispy panko crusted, tender on the inside and perfectly seasoned. The dish looked like a beach scene with the rice beach on an ocean of curry sauce. The curry was all the more tasty with bits of onion & minced pork added for flavor & texture. All told, the bill was $33 and with tax & tip was $42, an amazing value for some awesome food. They really lived up to their motto and no wonder customers come back again & again. Later, I was checking out their Facebook page and the way they care about preparing their food is amazing!
Honestly, the food was really mid. But if u consider the price then it's not that bad. $12 for curry ramen, $12 for pork chop curry and $12 for pork chop rice plate is hard to find in SD. There's several daily lunch specials. We tried $4 gyozas, they were deep Fried not pan fried. Service was good. The server was helpful and the food was quick.
Not only is the food here good but it's affordable. You can also find all day specials of $10 tonkatsu ramen or even lunch specials on the $10 menu. Parking here is a paid lot but the first 2 hours are free. Food came out quick. They have spices on the table if you want it spicer. We ordered: -Takoyaki ($6) - decent because it wasn't too much batter. -Soy garlic chicken karaage ($10) - two words, crunch and crispy. -Black garlic ramen ($13) - nice Al dente bouncy noodles, needed more garlic flavor. -Pork cutlet curry rice ($13) - the curry flavor was savory and sweet with a thick gravy consistency. We added more spice from the table and it came out to our liking. This little place deserves more attention. Will definitely come back again.
QUICK TAKE// Felt the black garlic ramen wasn't as standout as other black garlic ramens out there. Overall wasn't the most impressed and will not be coming back. FOOD// I came in here on a whim to try a quick ramen spot during lunch. I was tempted to try their very cheap $10 tonkatsu ramen, but instead went for the BLACK GARLIC RAMEN. I thought this one was tasty enough, but not as tasty as Nishiki ramen's. It honestly wasn't bad, but didn't blow my mind either. SERVICE// Very attentive and quick given lunch hour. VIBES// small clean space, nothing particularly standout.
Monsta Ramen is another new addition to the ever-growing list of ramen restaurants in San Diego. But unlike other places, they also serve curry! It's located in an already busy plaza so if you're planning on visiting, I'd recommend non-peak hours. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the food but it's affordable and they often do deals. Chicken Karaage: Great appetizer to start. Each piece is fried really crispy and the meat was juicy. Compared to everything else we ordered, I liked this the best and that's disappointing for the main course. Kurobata Sausage: We only got these to try because of a special deal, making each sausage only $1. It's got this bouncy texture, where each bite is crunchy but not like deep-fried crunchy. It comes semi-sliced and the sauce gets stuck in the crevices for maximum sauce-sausage ratio. Pork Cutlet Curry Rice: Comes with a generous serving of curry and rice. The pork was a little dry and the curry could've been a bit thicker and a little more flavorful. They also had chili oil available on each table and I ended up adding it to my curry for some extra heat and flavor. Not the worst but it doesn't beat my favorite Japanese curry place in San Diego. I also got to try a bit of the Tonkatsu Ramen and did not like it at all. The broth was really watery and missing that richness of a fatty broth. I also tried the Black Garlic Ramen and it was better than Tonkatsu. Although it was still missing the richness of a fatty broth, it packs a lot of flavor. If you're looking for ramen, I would recommend passing on Tonkatsu and go for the Black Garlic. read more

The food and service was amazing, and the price was amazing too! Our waitress, Hannah (hopefully I spelled that right), was super helpful and full of positive vibes! With the variety and price of the food, the wife and I were expecting this place to be a miss, but boy were we wrong. Definitely looking forward to coming here again! read more

In a day and age where a single meal often runs you over $25, Monsta Ramen is a gem. For ~$10 each, their tonkotsu ramen and curry with kurobuta sausage scratched the itch. The service was efficient--you order and pay with a QR code. Within 5 minutes of ordering, we received our food. The curry was decent --smooth, no clumps of roux, perfectly cooked rice. Yes, technically it's something that you could PROBABLY make at home but sometimes you don't want to eat a giant pot of curry leftovers for a week. The ramen is no Menya Ultra, of course, but it has all the fixings you would want--an egg, scallions, corn, wood ear, and chashu. Our only gripe is that the noodles were a little bit overcooked, but everything else-- flavor, portion, etc. was very good for the price. read more
Plenty of parking! Still new so not to busy when I came on a Saturday evening. You can order with waitress or by scanning QR code (benefits of scanning QR code-you can see daily specials but you can still order in person). Love the simple menu! I really wanted to try a spicy ramen but I'm pregnant now :) and must steer away from them because of the heartburn I now get. So I got this simple tonkotsu ramen with the egg on the side (to give to my cousin since I can't eat the yolk as not fully cooked). It was pretty tasty! Especially for the price point. The broth was clean and I loved the corn and wood ear toppings. The sliced pork was thin and very tender-which I really enjoyed. My cousin got the curry dish with the pork cutlet. I really enjoyed that as well. The curry was smooth and the pork had a nice crispiness. I'd definitely come back for a quick meal. read more

Hefty portions for a good price! This is a cheap place in Convoy to get a yummy meal that leaves you satisfied. We got the tonkatsu ramen and the sausage curry rice. They were both delicious but maybe not the most memorable that we ever had. However very good for the amount we paid. Their online menu ordering system sometimes have discounts on certain items and is cheaper if you use their QR code to order. The service is very fast. We got our food soon after we placed our orders. The space here is more casual and allows you to have a fast relaxed meal with hearty food options. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. The pork cutlet is so good. The waiters are also really nice. There is an online order option so the food comes out pretty fast. The only bad thing about this place is the parking is horrible in the area. Otherwise I really love this place, sort of has that home-cooked meal essence. read more

I feel like the large number of reviews for this place are not true reviews. We had dinner here on a whim and we will not be a returning customers. My son and I were looking for ramen and we decided to venture off from our go-to spot and we were both disappointed. We ordered the Spicy Black Garlic ramen and the Tonkotsu ramen. The spicy ramen it was excessively greasy and the pieces of pork are so thinly sliced, it's hardly any protein at all. The broth had a bitter taste to it as well. The Tonkotsu ramen was just ok. Although order your own food through a QR code, the server that brought our food and brought our check was friendly, kind, and overall very pleasant. The two stars are for her. As far as the food goes, I don't recommend it at all! read more
Good food & portion size for a great price. I have visited here twice already and had a great meal both times. The lunch special is a great deal and has several menu items at around $10. That's SUCH a great price for ramen/curry in San Diego. My husband and I ordered the black garlic ramen and potato croquette curry and paid less than we did at Taco Bell the other day for much better quality food. Ramen comes with a variety of toppings already built into the price, too. Taste-wise I also thought it was a winner. Portions are pretty big too. I needed help finishing my curry. They also gave us house spicy sauce, which I enjoyed as well mixed into the curry sauce. Restaurant is clean and the service is friendly. Can't think of anything I dislike about this place. I saw on IG they had a new $10 black garlic ramen special promotion, so my husband and I had to come back and give it a try. The broth is so flavorful and delicious! Egg is perfectly cooked. Chashu is tender moist and charred. They don't skimp on the wood ear, seaweed, and corn topping. Noodles aren't overcooked. Our server, Angelica, has consistently been so patient, friendly, and checked on us and all the other tables very frequently. I had to ask for her name (since she didn't have a name tag) to tell her she was working too hard!! read more

I was hungry during my lunch and found this new place on Yelp that just opened up. You sit down and order via QR code. The waitress was more than helpful and offered to place my order with her if I'd like. I went with the QR experience and did everything through there (ordered and paid). I was by myself and there was only one other couple in there, so it was super chill. After placing the order, it was only a short wait until my order came out. I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen with a side of Kurobata Sausage and rice. Everything was perfect. The table had its own chili powder and a hot sauce. idk if it's homemade but it was better than any table hot sauce you get anywhere else. It was kinda like sriracha but better with a tamarind feel to it. The ramen was flavorful and so was the sausage and even better with the house spicy sauce. I'm not sure why there weren't more people in here. Maybe they're still new and nobody really knows about them yet. One of the better ramen places in SD, so I would definitely come back. read more
When I think Convoy, I immediately think of easy and plentiful parking, (yeah right ). But seriously, convoy has some of the best Asian cuisine San Diego has to offer, so when my wife told me about this new ramen shop, we had to try it. We're hardcore ramen lovers, and since our last trip to Japan, the ramen bar has gone up exponentially. It's located in the same parking lot as Olleh AYCE KBBQ. The parking lot is a decent size, but parking sucks. The restaurant is mainly self serve so you order and pay by QR code. No human interaction necessary!! YAAAAY. There were roughly 10 tables with 4 seats each indoor. No outdoor seating available. Decor was ok, the store could use a bit more character Our food came out pretty quickly and our server was nice and helpful. The Tonkotsu broth was acceptable and had good flavor, the noodles were bouncy and had a good chew, but the star was the chasu. The chasu was charred and seasoned. The egg was soft boiled and had minimal flavor. The black garlic broth on the other hand was so delicious. Garlic flavor for days! Definitely my go to ramen here. They have limited promotional pricing, so each ramen bowl set us back $10. I definitely enjoyed the experience and would come back, even at full price. read more

If you're looking for a casual place to eat that's quick and affordable, this is a good place to try out. You can order via QR code, and the food comes out pretty fast. We got the black garlic ramen and the veggie miso ramen. I would say it's pretty solid for its price ($13). Some of my noodles were clumpy at the bottom though so recommend to mix it well when you get it. read more
I love this place!! Such a hidden gem ! I've always come with my doggo, so I never really ate inside. We might go one of these days. The place is so cute and customer service is excellent! They are so nice!! The food is sooo good!! I love the curry and how crispy the fried chicken!! The takoyaki is addicting! Everything is just so good that we always come here very often!! I need to try more of the menu, but the curry is just too good! The price is amazing also! Especially in this economy, you can't beat good food with that price tag!! Great prices for a quick casual dining option, especially considering how expensive other ramen places are now. This time we actually tried their rice options - gyudon and pork cutlet curry rice, and the pork sausage. They were all pretty tasty. You can order via QR code or by the server. It seems like they encourage you to order by QR code because there are specials on there (below the drinks). Despite that, our server was super friendly and helpful. The interior of the restaurant is clean but a little empty (?) - feels like a place to would grab and quick meal but not stay long. read more

A new ramen and curry shop has opened in the Convoy Village Shopping Center right next to a couple of boba tea businesses near the northwest corner of the plaza. I believe Monsta Ramen is locally owned as I don't see any other locations as part of a larger chain. The interior was bright and clean with seating for about 40 customers. A menu sheet was available when you walked in, but the staff recommended scanning the menu using the QR code at each table. That's because the online version offers special discounts that can only be purchased using the toasttab.com portal. The prices were really good as the most expensive offering was only $14. It happened to be the Beef Ramen which was one of the items I ordered. The other things I chose were the Potato Shrimp and the Kurobuta Sausage Curry Rice. I took the latter to-go for a future meal. Rice plates, rice bowls, and skewers were the other three menu categories besides the ones from which I made purchases (i.e. appetizers, ramen, curry rice). The shrimp came as four pieces with deep fried potato as an exterior. It was very crunchy and unique as I had not seen such a fried snack before. The ramen featured a house made beef soup base, beef belly, bamboo shoot, wood ear mushroom, and green onion. The broth was light which I enjoyed and was able to consume all of it at the end when I had finished the bowl contents. The rice dish featured mild brown Japanese curry in one compartment with three sausages on top of a bed of white rice in another compartment. The quality and serving sizes were solid, especially for the cost. The service was prompt and efficient. I would definitely return with a larger group to try one of the other eight ramen varieties or the pork or chicken cutlets. read more
A friend invited me to Monsta Ramen for lunch and I was impressed. The lunch special has ramen and curry at an unbeatable price. I got the spicy ramen, which was full of flavor and the serving amount was great. The service was quick and friendly. It's a sit down place but with a sort of fast food feel. I will be going back. Monsta Ramen is a newcomer to Convoy and are currently offering both lunch all-day specials. I decided to check it out during off-hours while on a break and had the restaurant all to myself. Sometimes, I feel awkward being the only diner in a restaurant but my server had such a warm and friendly personality that I didn't feel this way at all. While they do have a printed menu, their full offerings and current specials are viewable on their online menu, accessible via QR code. There are pros and cons to this type of service model, but I thought their website was very user-friendly and my server was so attentive that I believe that if I did have any issues, help from a human being wasn't far away. You have the option to either order individually or order as a group, which nicely resolves the age-old issue of splitting checks. You can also pay at your convenience. I tried to pay right after I ordered, but service was so quick that my food came before I could enter in my card information! I ordered the Monsta Lemonade and the Gurobuta Sausage Curry. Both had beautiful presentation. The Monsta Lemonade is a refreshing blue color reminiscent of a Blue Hawaiian. The Gurobuta Sausage Curry came with three scored sausages on a bed of rice plated half-and-half next to the curry with a bit of sunomono on the side. Monsta's curry differs from other places because it contains ground pork. While I find it to be a welcome but of added protein, this does mean that their curry can't be modified to be a vegetarian offering. My server gave me a bottle of their house-made spicy chili sauce to doctor up my curry. Seeing as I'm a spicy food demon, I happy added it to my dish and was pleasantly surprised to find that it is properly spicy. Overall, everything was absolutely delicious, filling, and an amazing price. While I did take advantage of their all-day special ($10 curry), their base dishes start at $12/plate. Not only is this a great price for the area, it's a great price period. I enjoyed it just as much (if not more) than my curry rice from Musashiya (starting at $14.50) and CoCo Ichibanya ($14.25 for the same dish) and I didn't feel cramped or rushed like I often do at CoCo. I'm happy to say that we gained a gem here on Convoy and I can't wait to come back to try the ramen! read more
The best and most affordable dinner on Convoy! I believe all menu items were below $20 and they have all day specials. We got the tonkotsu ramen for $10 but they have plenty of $10 options and also $4 Sapporo beer!! For such an affordable price, the quality was great. The portions were perfect and the broth was flavorful. They also have such an easy and convenient ordering system. You just order from a QR code on your phone and it gets sent to your table. Totally hassle free! The food came out so fast too (less than 10 mins). On top of all of this, the service was amazing. There was only 1 server but she was so friendly, attentive, and let us know of all of their specials before we looked at the menu. I believe I just found the next best local gem in San Diego. Will definitely be coming back with some friends! read more

Monsta Ramen is currently in its grand opening and offering various deals, such as 10$ ramen and curry plates as well as discounts on drinks and sides. It is a very fast casual restaurant that definitely provides both decent ramen and decent curry. When we visited we tried the tonkotsu ramen and the chicken katsu curry plate along with some appetizers. I love the kurubotq pork sausages!!! Next time I'd come back here just to get those. So fun and juicy. The food comes out fairly quickly and the server walks you through the menu and how to use the QR code to view and order. My ratings of the food we ordered: Tonkotsu ramen: 4/5 Chicken cutlet curry: 4/5 Potato shrimp: 3/5 Gyoza: 4/4 Kurubota pork sausage: 5/5!! read more

This place is so good. I'm shocked it wasn't busier. I got the veggie ramen, cream cheese wontons and edamame spring rolls. The veggie ramen was to die for-- so flavorful and only $10 for their lunch special. The cream cheese wontons were also amazing-- I liked how they put chopped green onion in them. The edamame spring rolls were literally just edamame beans wrapped in crispy spring roll wrapping but wow they were good. Next time I want to try the potato croquettes. The woman next to me got them and they looked so good. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. I'll be back for sure. read more

You order using your phone by scanning a QR code at your table. You can order for yourself or for everyone at the table this way. It's nice and efficient. I liked how the food came out only a few minutes after we put in our order. We were super hungry so we got two appetizers, the Potato Shrimp and the Potato Croquette. They come with a spicy mayo sauce. Both were hot and crispy, but they didn't taste amazing. Just your average fried dishes. They were also smaller than we expected. My fiancee got the Tonkotsu Ramen, and she said that it was just okay. I also tasted it and thought the same. Nothing stood out with the flavor, though it had a lot of additions in it. We definitely have other ramen places that we like more. I got the Gurobuta Sausage Curry Rice. I immediately noticed how small the sausages were. Again, it tasted okay. I would have liked it more if it came with another sausage link, more rice, and/or more picked vegetables. Due to the portions being smaller than we expected we weren't completely satisfied. For the special soft opening prices it's fine, but I would hesitate to pay the normal prices for the same meal. If you're familiar with the area, you know that parking can be tough. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but it doesn't get very crowded. We were there during dinner on a Friday night, and there were maybe only three other tables with people. The staff that come around to bring your food and check on you are friendly, but Monsta Ramen needs to do more with the flavors and portions to get a real crowd going. read more

The food was pretty good. The garlic edamame loved it. The sausage also was pretty good Liked the potato croquet. It had good flavor and crunch. I didn't tryl the ramen but they both said it was good. The reason only 2 stars is for the way you order. Bits a QR code and you place your order online and then they bring it to you. I get that places are starting to do this now and honestly I hate it. I go out to eat to interact with the servers and have an experience. If I wanted to order through an app or online I could stay home and do Uber eats or take out. Plus the QR code wasn't working for me so if I was alone I would have walked out and gone somewhere else. The service was virtually non existent since the only time you interacted with a server was when they brought you water and then the food. Other than that you never seen them except standing in a corner waiting for someone to come in or wait till food was ready to bring to the table. (they could totally be taking orders the old fashioned way) But that's just me. Not sure if others feel the same but I like to go out to eat to have human Interaction. I probably wouldn't come back here because of this. Definetly wouldn't come back if I was dining alone. read more

A new addition to the Olleh, Yun Tea House, and bbq Chicken plaza! Monsta serves up Ramen as mentioned in their name, but also has Curry, Rice Bowls and Plates! - PARKING - This plaza is always packed to the brim - usually I have to circle a few times until I see people leaving, or I opt to park on the streets or lots nearby and walk over. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - The restaurant isn't very large, but it seems like people go in and out fairly quickly. You have the option of ordering through the waiters or the QR codes on the table. You can either order on a single phone, or if you're dining with a party, you can all join in on the same order.They let us know that there are deals available and to check the bottom of the online menu to see. Once we ordered, it didn't take more than 10 minutes for our food to come out. If you choose to order with the QR code, you can also pay your tab and leave when you'd like! - FOOD - Spicy Miso Ramen ($13.00): I am a big fan of thick chewy noodles, and although the ramen here is chewy, it's not as thick as some other spots I've been to. The broth was pretty spicy and flavorful. The char siu slices were very thin though, and left me wanting more. Pork Cutlet Curry Rice ($13.00): Really generous portion for the price in my opinion! The Pork Cutlet was very crispy and had a nice flavor to it. I do wish the Curry had a bit more flavor, or if there was a choice to make it spicy that would have helped. If they also had some additional pickled veggies on the side, that would've made this even better! Potato Croquette (2pcs - $5.00): Similar to the Pork Cutlet, this was super crispy on the outside! There were also bits of veggies inside, but I do wish there was some more flavor to the filling. - OVERALL - I would actually come back for the Curry over their Ramen here - I have other Ramen spots I prefer better, but their Curry is solid! Maybe I need to try their different broths the next time I come. read more

I saw this place on Instagram and decided to check out its soft opening. This place is in a spacious plaza which is already a good sign. So excited for this new addition because the prices are unbeatable! The $10 lunch special is QR code specific so that's something to be aware of. Food came out fast and it wasn't packed when we went on a Wednesday afternoon. The broth was delicious and the curry was very flavorful! They also don't skimp on the toppings for ramen. Came here for lunch, and got seated right away. Cute and clean place. The service was good. I like that they give you an option to either place your order with the server or from your phone. The chicken curry was really tasty. The chicken was tender and flavorful. I can't wait to come back and try something else off the menu. read more
Comparing this restaurant to other ramen places - it's not bad. Sure it's not in the same level as Tajima or Hiro Nori but it's good, fast and cheap. The pork chashu is not as tender as Menya Ultra but it's very decent. Think of this as the fast food version of ramen. read more

My friends and I came in and all got the Japanese curry! We also shared a potato croquette appetizer. I thought the croquette was just ok (a pass for me). As for the curry, I wish they gave more curry sauce as I found myself being cautious/limited with the amount of curry I was eating with every bite. I also had excess white rice at the end. The curry flavor itself was not bad, I liked how it had some ground beef in it. The katsu itself was fried well but I wish it was meatier and juicier. The pickles were yummy but they give so little and charge for extra. Overall I prefer Karami and Coco for curry! read more

My favorite item was the chicken karaage. The garlic ramen had a bitter aftertaste and the creamy crab croquettes were mostly cream with a faint hint of crab. Everything else was standard and nothing stood out (takoyaki, sausage, gyoza and potato shrimp) It wasn't too crowded at 5pm on a Saturday so it's great if you want to try a new restaurant and don't want to wait in line! A solid new and very inexpensive option for comforting Japanese food in the area! They definitely know their target audience that frequents the area, so I expect them to be very packed come the start of local universities again. On the night my friends and I came, we were pleasantly surprised by the service and food from start to finish. Service was quick and attentive, with one of the servers nicely explaining to us how to order off the QR code site and the grand opening specials that were going on. The menu was varied, with different ramen, curry, rice bowls, sides and extras offered; various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were available at reasonable prices. It wasn't noisy or loud with background music, so having conversation with friends wasn't an issue. The food was decent all around. 2 of us ordered the special $10 tonkotsu ramen and $4 gyoza special, and 1 got the pork cutlet curry. It's been a heck of a long time since I've ordered ramen below $10 a bowl. The ramen was generously sized, coming with 3 flavorful fatty pork slices, a mirin-infused soft-boiled egg, and nori piece. There were lots of green onions, wood ear mushrooms and corn for toppings. The pork broth was flavorful and rich, and the perfectly chewy noodles went well with everything else in the bowl. The pork gyoza was crispy, and paired with the sweet soy sauce side was perfect to round off a filling meal. I'd definitely return in the future if I'm in the area to try everything else they have! Bonus kudos to the ordering site for allowing each person in a table to contribute to a group order, the ability to split payment by each person, and each to pay their own portion of the group tab! Came in since we saw the grand opening sign and the ramen was delicious! We got a $10 grand opening special so that was nice. For apps we got, the pickled cucumber I personally did not like, the sour flavors were off. The sausage was good but it was very tiny. Their menu items pork cutlet and curry looked interesting too, will try next time. The sesame balls had red bean and were good hot when they came out. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced, cheaper than what you can find at other restaurants. I ordered the chicken katsu curry and my sister had the chicken katsu plate, and we also had the gyoza which we both enjoyed. We came on a Friday night at 5 pm and got seated right away. Our waiter was very friendly and nice and the food came out quick. The inside was clean and modern. I like how we could order and pay online! Overall, I was impressed and would definitely come back here again to try their other dishes! read more
