Omg it is amazing and your get so much food! Decided I needed something before driving through town and the lamb on fries caught my eye. For $13.99, I got enough food for 3 individual meals. The meat was great as we're the toppings. Seriously, if you want great food, visit.

Simply MASSIVE, yummy, flavorful chicken gyros. No possible way there's a mouth out there large enough to dive in or hands large enough to pick the thing up! But definitely worth grabbing a fork and embracing the messy goodness. Service was very friendly and they were still plenty warm once we got home. Great first impression, we will definitely be back.

I noticed this new spot the last time I was in the area and decided to give it a try. I did take out and got their chicken shawarma wrap, falafel, and hummus.. and glad I did! The shawarma wrap is quite big and filled with flavorful chicken. The wrap itself also tastes homemade and fresh. For me, it's enough for two meals so definitely a deal. Personally, I had hoped to see more veggies in there but I can't say it wasn't filling. I like their unique tzatziki sauce and hot sauce that came with the wrap, it compliments nicely. The falafel was crispy and delicious, hummus was great too. I'll be back again!

    11) Lamb Gyro and Combo Lamb & Beef Salad

Food was very yummy, not too oily, and servings were generous. Wait time was short and service was very friendly & welcoming. Also felt very cozy, the ambiance was almost like eating at home. Definitely would visit again!

What a great option for Mediterranean! Big selection of dishes, we chose to do the lamb arabi, falafel and side of hummus. The arabi was filling with tasty lamb slices wrapped with veggies and feta. The fries had some seasoned salt and topped with sauce, a nice accompaniment. The hummus had good flavor and came with a side of bread. The falafel was fresh, springy and tasty. The service was kind and friendly. Will be back to try more dishes, a great local place.

Sign to the left of the cash register. According to the sign on the right, bottom left, "LAMB OVER SALAD - $12.99"

I would NOT buy food here again. I wanted to pay with Discover card, but saw no signage regarding credit cards. I asked the cashier if it was accepted, and he just said "yes". My food was $13.99, but I was charged $14.41. I asked why, and the cashier pointed to this text on the receipt - "To cover the cost of accepting credit cards, we collected a 3% credit card surcharge." Such surcharges are legal in Oregon, but very unusual at restaurants. Ethical merchants will DISCLOSE such surcharges to customers (via signage, and when answering direct questions about whether or not credit cards are accepted) BEFORE the transaction. Regarding my food... "Lamb over Salad". The meat was very tasty, and there was a lot of meat. There wasn't very much salad, and a lot of the lettuce was shredded, which made it harder for me to eat. My preference would have been for a bit less meat & a bit more salad (with bigger pieces of lettuce and tomato). Also, the salad had pickles and green olives, neither of which seem common in the Greek salads I've had. I would preferred a bit more feta cheese instead.

Delicious food and a warm generous owner. Even the grandkids liked it. We are not from there and it was a relief to find such a good place.

I ordered the lamb kebab (it was the staff's recommendation). Visually it looked fine, but the flavor was disappointing: the meat tasted bitter and overcooked, almost like it was burnt. I don't recommend getting that dish. Based on that experience, I can't recommend dining here.

What an incredible food journey today at Salam, a Lebanese gem that deserves every bit of praise…read more It all started with their flatbread--warm, soft, and almost like a delicious roti. We paired it with chicken and hummus, and wow--absolutely amazing. Then came the lamb shank, and it stole the show. Perfectly cooked, fall-off-the-bone tender, and the rice? Packed with flavor. A solid 10/10. We also tried the chicken seekh with saffron rice, which was nicely done. The ground lamb pizza wasn't my personal favorite--felt a bit too tomato-heavy--but my friends loved it, so it really depends on your palate. Now, the grand finale: Turkish coffee with a mixed dessert platter. And let me tell you--Knafa + Turkish coffee = pure heaven. I had a foodgasm. Truly one of those rare, unforgettable dessert experiences. The service was wonderful--I believe it was the owner who personally checked on us, gave thoughtful recommendations, and brought such a warm, positive vibe to the entire place. It really elevated the experience. The ambience is also on point--cozy yet vibrant, perfect for a meal with friends, family, or even a low-key date night. I'm recommending this place to everyone. It's a must-try. 100 out of 100.

We were able to try a wide variety of dishes, and every single one was exceptional. I have dietary restrictions (no onions or garlic), and the kitchen and staff were incredibly accommodating. They prepared separate versions of several dishes for me without hesitation, and I never felt like I was getting a lesser experience. It's rare to find a restaurant that can accommodate food sensitivities so thoughtfully while still delivering incredible flavor. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, and the service was impeccable. The staff was warm, attentive, and made our birthday celebration feel special without ever being overbearing. Everyone in our group left talking about how amazing the food was. We couldn't have asked for a better meal or a better overall experience. Mediterranean Exploration Company has definitely earned a spot on our list of favorite Portland restaurants, and we can't wait to come back.

We weren't too hungry and ordered 3 dishes to share - the hamachi crudo, baked feta with Blackberries, and braised Greek greens. The service was pretty fast, we received our food within 15 mins. The hamachi crudo was tasty with fresh fish that balanced well with the yummy smoked eggplant, tamarind soy, black harissa mayo, and crispy ginger. The baked feta was the heartiest dish, it came out with piping hot pitas to dip into the creamy savory/sweet feta and Blackberries. The braised Greek greens felt like the most basic dish out of the 3, collard greens cooked with a lemon/olive oil finish, which tasted as described but not exciting enough to order again. Just as the name implies, this restaurant is a nice way to try Mediterranean dishes for those who don't eat it often. Admittedly, the cuisine isn't in our top favorites, but all the dishes were executed well, true to their description, and made for some fun bites.
