Monteros deserves my highest possible recommendation! My 28-year-old gas furnace stopped working; on 9/26 (Wed), I called Monteros and got an appointment for the next day at 11:00. Then I received both text and email confirmation along with the name of the technician. I also received another text before his arrival; Mr. Alex Hansen arrived on time within the specified 30-minute window. He diagnosed correctly, replaced the main mother board and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. He also advised me to insulate certain exposed wires. His service charge is 34% lower than an outrageous $725 quote I received yesterday from another company's technician who did not have the board with him (i.e. he needed to order it and come a second time had I approved the work and paid an advance deposit). When our AC sprang a bad leak, I called two HVAC places recommended by our Condo Assn. officers. Neither could send anyone before July. When I called Manero, the super nice woman said someone would be out the next day. The owner did our job b/c all his workers were on other assignments. Ours turned out to be unusual & difficult, and to require two people. The men were great -- friendly, happy to explain stuff & answer questions. They worked well past normal hours, to ensure that we had working AC for the hot night & days to come. I braced myself for a killer bill, then couldn't believe my eyes when it was presented. Even though there were super busy they squeezed me in for an appt the next day with their specialist Alex. He came at the appointed time, was knowledgable, nice, and efficient. After American Home Shield Appliance failed to find a contractor in my area......I found Monteros Heating & Air (Claudio) in my area. He rapidly made an appointment after I told him that heating system had to be shut few days ago due to a dangerous condition. Claudio came on time and after inspection pointed out the likely problem with the heating system. He proceeded to fix the problem & then retested the heating system to make sure it worked safely.. Best of all he advised to have the system checked yearly. I will make sure i use his service to do a yearly checkup on the heating system. My heater stopped working so I made an appointment with Claudio and his team for the inspection and the fix. Claudio and Alex did an amazing job fixing my heater and I was impressed with their work. Alex was very professional in the initial investigation of the problem. He listened carefully to my description of the problem and he was very thorough in his investigation. I was able to get a second appointment to fix the problem. On the next day, Claudio and Alex came back and did the work. They were not only proficient in their work but also went extra mile to deliver the best service quality in the following ways: + knowing that I have hardwood floor, Claudio and Alex brought the shoe covers and had them on during the visit to protect the floor + they specifically went outside to do the replacement to prevent the dirt from falling on my floor + after the replacement, I had some questions regarding furnace maintenance. I had a complicated issue and Monteros took care of it. My living room would have a strange odor every time I cook and turn on my kitchen exhaust. Not only did Rodney diagnose the problem correctly right away, he let me know of some major issues in my ducts that I was not aware of. He is so honest and polite. They are careful and neat. His quote was reasonable but since he finished much faster than anticipated, he said he would charge us less. He found a leak in my roof and said he could fix it. I offered to pay and when the job was done, he didn't charge us for that. I would trust them 100%. read more

I called Monteros based on the Yelp reviews. We need to move our AC unit about 10' on the rear patio. Our home is 19 years old. I also wanted to get their opinion on replacing the AC and/or heater. Claudio is the real deal as indicated in the Yelp reviews. He clearly laid out the pro's/con's of upgrading and concluded it simply wasn't worth it. In the end we agreed to only move the AC unit. We didn't notice during the day, but when it was freezing inside the house on a Friday night and we went to check the thermostat, we realized that the furnace had stopped working sometime during the day. Given that it was the week between Christmas and New Year's, and the weekend was coming up, we were concerned about finding a company to come out the next day. We contacted several companies through Yelp, but none was willing to even think about helping us out until Monday. Somehow, we stumbled upon Monteros, I sent a chat message through their website, and Claudio e-mailed me back within half an hour. He initially said he would be out of town and couldn't help me out until Monday, but then asked if we would mind if he came out that same night for the same price (no surcharge!!). Of course, we jumped at his offer, and within an hour, he had fixed the problem and we were thrilled to get heat back into the house. These guys are the real deal. Contacted 4 other heating companies after giving up trying to replace the broken thermostat with a new one we purchased on Amazon. 3 of the 4 responded and Monteros came to the rescue. Super nice person I spoke with on the phone to schedule the appointment. A text notification was sent shortly after our call to confirm the appointment...awesome! I've fixed many things around the house, (lucky wife :)) having married a guy that will attempt every fix until throwing in the towel. In my case, I did more damage than good....share that detail later. The next morning, Alex came out to look at the issue...installed a Nest I purchased the day before, upgrading the amazon purchase knowing it was the wrong purchase. After installing the Nest, it was evident that there was no power. Alex confirmed I blew a fuse to the main furnace after trying to install the new thermostat myself. He replaced the fuse, power was flowing to the Nest where he then quickly set up the manual settings to get the heat back on again. I would say he was in and out within 45m to an hour. Couldn't have been happier with the service and I would highly recommend them for all of your heating and cooling needs. For anyone attempting to replace their thermostat, be sure to turn the main power off to the furnace. Safety first! read more

I first called Monteros Heating back in December 2015, based on Yelp reviews. Claudio came, diagnosed and explained the issue and fixed it: it was a defective part. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and I felt so good about his work that I paid him with a check to save him credit card fees. Well, come January 2016, the wall heater had a problem again and Claudio again paid a visit and fixed it for free. I have to say, Claudio went above and beyond his responsibilities. We needed an AC unit put in to our rental row-house. We have moved out of SF Bay Area so I arranged everything over the phone. Claudio went to the home and assessed the job, picked up our AC unit from the warehouse, stored it in his office - and installed it when the tenants were ready for him to come in and install. Also, the installation job was beautifully completed, and our property management company staff had a nice experience working with him too. He has easygoing and knows his stuff. He was very prompt to return the call (within an hour) and suggested I first double check that the filters were not out of place. I did that and left a message that the filter looked fine- he returned the call again promptly. He came over the next morning and by then the heater was running (after many attempts again), but he cleaned the sensor, a tube and checked other things (like the PCB) to troubleshoot the issue. Since he couldn't find anything major obviously wrong, he told me that he'd keep the next morning open and if it was dead again and he would come over without another service charge. In fact, he said I could call at 7 or 7:30 am. Luckily, he had apparently fixed the problem and I didn't need to have him come back. He then proactively left a message with me two days later on New Year's Day to make sure everything was okay. That is great service in my book- I will definitely have him back for maintenance on my A/C and furnace later! read more
