The last delivery was awful. It seemed every entree was just warmed over left over from plates sent back by customers because of the lack of taste to point the degust would be torture. What happened? Was the delivery order too late? Then please don't take the order instead sending warm over slop to paying and loyal customer that now cannot really get over the lack of perspicacious knowledge of how to keep customers. We had the tempura shrimp, avocado roll, beef lo mein, and donuts. -Tempura shrimp was overlooked and breaded with a heavy, American style breeding, and not the light tempura batter we're used to. - The rice on the avocado roll was not fresh and there were more sesame seeds on the thing than we knew what to do with. - Beef lo mein portion was HUGE, even for two people. Noodles and veggies did not appear to have been seasoned at all. - Donuts were delicious because how could they not be? We stepped up and supported the (few and far between) LH restaurants last night, based on a good review in the Advocate. My point of comparison for Asian cuisine in the area is Bistro B, whch I enjoy. Moon Wok was good. A little pricey, but the portions were huge. We got a free egg roll, and although it was not on par with the mystery meat Bistro B egg roll, it was tasty. We will definately go back. I would have given this new joint 5 stars, but as my wife and 3 1./2 old were walking out, the boy said to my wife "This place smells like butt." For those of you who may know the boy, you know that (1) he actually said this based on some unique smell and (2) said this loud enough for all to hear. Ah--love the boy and Moon Wok! read more

Going to keep it short and sweet. I work in this area and I occasionally have to make a trip to the UPS Store next door, and I always thought the name "Moon Wok" was hilarious so I tried it one day. I'm not exactly an expert on Chinese food, in fact I prefer the "Americanized" version to authentic. I went to the highest rated Chinese Food place in San Francisco (in Chinatown, known for it's Chinese) and personally didn't care for it, so what do I know? But I thought Moon Wok was good, I got Combo Fried Rice and it had lots of shrimp in it, which is always a suprise. Lunch comes with a free egg roll to go and was very affordable. Gross. Hot and sour soup STUNK and tasted like death and rotten bacteria. Sweet and sour chicken was like rubber. The sweet and sour sauce was like half-melted jello and yuck. Rice was OK. Today was my first time eating from Moon Wok! I ordered out. I went into the restaurant to order. It was very nice and clean and the two ladies in the front were super sweet! The menu was easy to read and navigate! The food was super good! I've been trying to find a good Chinese food place near by and I highly recommend this one! My husband and I wanted to have some Chinese food delivered to our home this evening and we thought to try out a new place! It had great reviews! We placed the order, the lady on the phone stated it would be 30-40 mins. That's not a problem. The problem was when it it hit the hour mark, and then an hour and a half. I called and asked if perhaps the driver could not find the place and she stated that he left 40mins ago with a couple orders. We live 2miles away from the restaurant. Ok. So I hang up assuming we would hear a knock soon. I called back at the hour and a half mark and told her to cancel the order. She stated that the driver should have been there by now and that they tried to call him to not be able to reach him. My food would have been in the drivers car about an hour now and I did not want to pay for cold, soggy food. They serve HUGE portions for fairly cheap prices. I can easily make a serving here stretch for more than one meal. Their lunch specials are a huge steal too. Great prices! Lunch portions are huge! Can easily be split between 2 people. Food is always fresh and hot. Service is quick and register ladies are always helpful and knowledgeable about menu. Only thing I was disappointed about were the flat noodles. The noodles were clumped up with many layers!! Like there weren't separated just thrown in to cook. Taking a bite was like biting mush. I decided to try a new place so I called to place an order to go, I gave them my phone number and my home address. The lady that took my order said it would be about 30 to 45 minutes, she even gave me the total of the food. An hour went by and my food had not been delivered, I called the restaurant to ask if it was gonna be much longer and they told me they had no record of my order. While on the phone I could hear the staff arguing whether or not I was within their delivery area; I even heard a guy in the background say "you didn't call back!" We stumbled on this place after deciding we didn't want the usual pizza for our movie and feeling adventurous I mentioned to my boyfriend we should get Chinese food from a restaurant that had left a little advertising paper at my door. When we came in we didn't think much of the place, cutely decorated and the girl behind the cash register seemed bored beyond belief, but the food... The food was amazing! Walked in and sat ourselves in. There was no one in the restaurant but a family already eating and us couple. Nobody cared to welcome us or even asked for our drinks. The woman in the register who was sooo busy on the phone hand-signaled to me to get the menu. Really??? The other asian woman was also busy on the phone. I saw an employee who came out of the bathroom and went to the kitchen. I went to the bathroom and found out that there was no soap available. There was a sign "all employees must wash their hands before going back to work". Didn't I see one just got out? Did he really washed his hands? I ordered 2 orders of regular wings. 6 comes in one order. In my first order the last two wings were spoiled. The chicken was spoiled! I took both orders back and asked for a refund. One of the girls behind the register told me because I ate 4 of the 6 wings she couldn't give me a refund for that order! After arguing inch with her about how an inconvenience this was for me to drive back and bite spoiled chicken I asked for a manager. She said there wasn't one available. I asked to speak with someone in charge or for the managers number. She said the manager quit. Then some one of the Asian cooks came from the kitchen asked her what I wanted. He seemed to hardly speak any English. Then he told her it was "ok" to give me a refund for both orders. He said "sorry sorry" and went to the kitchen. Yelp helped me again!! Out of town and wanted Chinese but wanted to take it back to the apt after a long day.... And was soooo pleasantly surprised!! The portions were large ... Large enough for two ... Ordered the Mongolian Beef and it was fabulous!! Also ordered the Four Season ... Another great dish!!! And really did enjoy the Spring Rolls...
