    Hazelnut croissant
    Alexa S.

My life changed here. We were spending the morning in Queen Anne and decided to pop into this bakery "just to look". The smell was intoxicating. Each pastry looked so beautiful. We went with the chocolate hazelnut croissant and split it. The first bite genuinely transported me to heaven. The filling had the essence of Nutella but it tasted more luxurious. SOOO smooth and gooey in the best way. There's nothing worse than getting a filled pastry and running out of filling after a couple bites. Nope, not the case here. The filling reached every single bite, it was so incredibly delicious with the flaky, buttery croissant. Looks may be deceiving, but this was definitely not too sweet! It was utter perfection and truly a work of art to look at.

Loved this bakery when it was Le Reve. This is where I first discovered the kouign aman and that caramelized sugar with croissant texture is just perfect. Got a chance to stop by again and grab a bunch of stuff and try. The pastry texture in general is just so good. The mushroom Gruyère pastry was super tasty, a little spiced. The lemon chocolate croissant is really good. The custard inside is a little tart. We also had the croissant which was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had but still pretty solid. There's minimal seating area. Some outside and some inside.

Absolutely gorgeous pastries and one of the genuinely kindest front counter persons we've met so far. We went with one savory and three sweet pastries, each with their own texture. All delicious, however my review is a reflection of my taste only. These have generous fillings with great flavor. The raspberry in particular was fruit forward vs sugar. The almond had a very nice toasty and nutty flavor and a light subtle glaze that did not take away from the flakiness of the layers. The cherry bear claw was delicate and the warmed savory (Gruyère) item was the only one too delicious not to finish in one sitting. Cute garden seating outside and a lovely neighborhood gem. Enjoy!

I've only tried the various croissants at Moonrise Bakery, such as my favorite Twice Baked Chocolate Almond Croissant that I managed to remember to take a picture of this most recent visit before gobbling it up! Their croissants are so perfectly flaky and messy. IMO, if the flakes don't get all over the place, it is an inferior croissant... Hahaha. I'm slightly kidding, but I believe there is a lot of truth in this. It paired well with my Americano that I didn't think needed added sugar because the pastry had enough sweetness to balance the two things out. Moonrise Bakery is located in Upper Queen Anne. They opened in 2020 and are part of the Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. family. They have a great front porch and outdoor patio-- perfect for dog and people watching! :-)

Fantastic bakery. Loved their pastries and they had some great gluten free options too! Really cute outside seating too.

I stop at Moonrise often when I am in upper Queen Anne. Located in the former space of Le Reve, Moonrise carries on with delicious croissants and assorted pastries. My fav being the twice baked chocolate croissant. It's best to get there early for the best selection. Their breakfast sandwiches are provided by Harried & Hungry. Service is friendly and prompt. There is counter seating indoors, as well as an outdoor patio.

This shop is small but mighty. It doesn't have a huge selection in its small space, but it does have a good one. Everything is well made and delicious. I also like how they are confident enough to even bring in and feature a few baked goods from smaller bakers in the area. Service is friendly, kind, and helpful. Definitely worth visiting.

We started our day off for my husband's birthday by going to this bakery that popped up on Yelp as a place that I should try out. We were so a thousand percent impressed and happy that we went here to get his little birthday treats. The Ambiance of the store is just so warm and inviting. The second you open the door your nose is touched by the sweetness and delicious butter that is looming over all the tasty treats. And the array of colors that are in there due to the different pastries, chocolates, wine, and little items to buy just makes it even more fun to be in there. The service we received was exceptional. The individual behind the cash register greeted us with a huge smile and asked us if it was our first time in the bakery. We let them know yes and that it had been our first time in Seattle in a while. She gave us recommendations, confirmed our proper pronunciation of Kouign Amann, and meet as few well at home there. Now we ended up taking home four main pastries to savory to sweet. The two savory pastries were simply amazing. We got the ham style croissant and then the wild mushroom with gruyere cheese. Both were divine. I will say the wild mushroom taste came out so lovely when you've been into it in comparison to the saltiness of the gruyere cheese. For the sweet pastries again they were amazing and I will say I'm still trying to figure out the hint of something at the end after biting into the Kouign Amann. And the blood orange citruseness paired so well with the feeling that it had. I believe it was cardamom and so so good. Overall hands down, if you are in the area you need to try this bakery.

Absolutely fabulous bakery! My husband and I stopped by two days in a row during our quick visit to Seattle and got plenty of treats to share with our families! The service was quick and very friendly, and the ambiance was cozy and lively at the same (seems to be a local favorite!). We really enjoyed all the pastries we had and I wish we had one out here in the Midwest! They have some fun twists on classic pastries like lemon chocolate croissant, mushroom gruyere danish, and more!

Love the London Fog tea and the London Fog pastry! Dined outside while the weather was cool and pleasant, and definitely enjoyed the time with the drink and pastry. There was no line, and I got my items quickly. They also have a small, cute section inside for wine and souvenirs.

Great pastries at Moonrise Bakery in Queen Anne! It's a small place with outdoor seating only. They have a good selection of pastries, baked goods, and breakfast sandwiches. They also sell goods to purchase - wines, nonalcoholic drinks, condiments, other pantry items and coffee beans. I got the kouign-amann pastry which was perfectly caramelized and delicious. The pastry was beautifully laminated and flakey!

Croissant heaven. They have sweet, they have savory, they have drinks. The line was quick to get through and for a Saturday morning they had a really good selection to choose from. I wish they had a bigger space for more seating, but that just means that a lot of people love what they're making. Best. Croissants. Ever.

Wanted a sweet treat and stopped by this shop. Overall it was very cute with the little house decor thing infront and the service was very nice and they even offered to heat up our cookie which I always like. I wished they had some kind of lemonade or something bc it was mainly coffee and matcha and I wanted something refreshing which I couldn't find on their menu.

So, what went well, and what has plenty of room for improvement? SERVICE - 5/5 The staff was super friendly and just really cool! I especially appreciated that he grabbed the pain au chocolat from the back at my request. I did not want mine touching the almond croissants displayed so closely together. I wanted a pain au chocolat, not an almond pain au chocolat. Sorry! AMBIANCE - 4/5 A very busy bakery/café located at Pike Place Market, near Starbucks. I liked the wall décor and the overall cozy vibe. Finding an empty seat may be a challenge? KOUIGN-AMANN/PAIN AU CHOCOLAT/MERINGUE - 2/5 Kouign-amann - 0/5 It pained me to give a kouign-amann such a low score, especially because it is my all-time favorite pastry. But this one was so subpar that I could not even finish it. It was, frankly, a complete waste of butter, flour, sugar and labor. I once lodged a complaint with a GM and Director of F&B at a certain Ritz-Carlton because their kouign-amanns were so bad that I asked them to stop whoever was making them. Since then, there has been a huge improvement, and that is what genuine feedback should accomplish. Pastry integrity is of utmost importance, and pastry crime is hardly forgivable. Pain au Chocolat - 2/5 Doughy and deeply disappointing. I simply cannot reconcile this with the fact that Le Panier has supposedly been a beloved fixture of Seattle's food scene since 1983. MERINGUE -- 5/5 Can anyone possibly mess up a meringue?? It is extremely disappointing to visit what is supposed to be a legendary, quintessential French bakery in Seattle, only to find that the two pastries I was most looking forward to, the kouign-amann and pain au chocolat, were both such letdowns. A café/bakery cannot survive on service and ambiance alone. The pastries have to deliver too. Time to rehone the baking skills, Le Panier.

The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. Highlights: - Miso Roasted White Chocolate Cronut: My favorite item in their current rotation. The cronut was a tad soggy, but the buttery texture inside is still satisfying and the miso white chocolate filling is lusciously smooth and perfectly balanced between savory and sweet. - Blackberry Corn Mousse Cake: Blueberry mousse is the perfect fluffy texture and the corn is very subtle. The sponge cake is light and perfectly contrasts against the bottom layer of crunchies to add a bit of variety. - Blueberry Corn Croissant: Pastry also held up quite well on this one with the outside still being quite crisp. The inner cream unlike the mousse cake is very corn forward with a bit of blueberry jam to balance it out. Skip: - Black Forest Cake: Found the cake to be a bit too firm with the cream filling to be a little bland and too firm as well. Just wanted this to be better than it was. Also, it looks totally different from the photo on their website heads up. - Tomato Basil Croissant: Just found this to be off ratio wise. The only tomato is the 3 small quarters of cherry tomato at the top and a light smear of basil cream. I can see this being very good, but current form factor isn't doing it any favors.
