According to their Menu they offer delivery within 3 miles.. I called to placed and order and in a very rude way a person who barely speaks English says that they don't provide that service. Maybe within 1 mile but not more than that. My house is 2 Mil away. So I ask them why do they offer the service in their menu and she answer we don't delivery even if you order for 100$........ Our first time at Moonstone which had previously been a buffet and just didn't "call" to me. The current incarnation was a very pleasant surprise. The décor is classy, chic, elegant, modern: excellent music track at a perfect, unobtrusive volume, tablecloths at lunch, lighting was beautiful, rest rooms were stunning. Whoever designed this place had terrific taste. The service was IMPECCABLE. There was an excellent lunch menu with a wide selection and a generous portions. Everything was fresh. People sitting a few tables away also thought this was still a buffet and had the same reaction as I: what a great surprise! And we all felt that MOONSTONE was our new favorite. Nothing special, but overpriced = 2* Renovations from the old Harvest Buffet were a plus, but while the tablecloths, wallpaper, and lighting are nice, the tables were too closely spaced for a true upscale Asian fair. 4* Drinks were fair, and a half price happy hour special is always a nice way to start an evening 2* appetizers were nothing special; scallion pancakes lacked flavor, and were worth half price at best. The chicken satay was strangely chewy and the satay sauce was a cross between sweet peanut butter and duck sauce. As for the Gyoza, I could make better ones from the supermarket frozen aisle selection. The sauce was equivalent to store bought as well. Don't even try the Soup dumplings... Those are worse than freezer aisle store bought: the soup to meat ratio is off, and the dumpling skin is thick and friable. 2* entree for consistency, amount, and cost: Black Forest sea scallop was a strange brown color, rubbery and overcooked, oversalted. The crispy beef was very crispy the first time I had it, but the sauce is overly sweet. The second time I had it, it was soggy and I almost mistook it for the chicken feet you get at dim sum (which I will never voluntarily eat). Chicken lo mein had rubbery chicken, overcooked noodles for toothless customers and a strange tasting sauce. The kung pao monk fish was overcooked, and the sauce was scant. 2* service: during my first visit, within one month of opening, I was greeted with different level waiters, white gloved and attentive. We had full glasses of water at all times, and waiters quickly arrived when I lifted my head to look for help. The service however went downhill. At my last visit with a bunch of friends, our courses all came out at different times, and yes, they missed one of my courses. I returned the appetizer when it was brought out with my entree. You could say it may have been a busy night, except aside from the party of 16 in my group, there were crickets chirping in the other three corners of the restaurant. How could you mix up and mess up bringing out soup? When half of the party goes home with doggy bags..... Draw your own conclusion. 1* dessert: when grocery store bought pudding that is packaged in small plastic cups have a better taste and consistency, there is a major problem. My mango pudding was crunchy. Yes, crunchy, as in overwhelmed with agar. It was flavorless and could probably bounce off the floor if I dropped a spoonful. The ice cream was strange, and tasted over churned, as in buttery but with ice crystals: not good. At least the plates were clean, the water was clear, and the bathrooms had running water, soap and toilet paper. I would not recommend this place to anyone who knows better when it comes to Asian food quality, taste, and price. There are plenty of good Asian eats in the neighborhood folks, and I mean authentic as well as fusion. This place is sooooo racist .... I made reservation for 8pm. I arrived at 7:35pm. The hostess had me waiting for 15 minutes, continuing to ask me how many people are in my party, when we were all present from the beginning. After finally being seated, we had to wait 20 minutes for a waiter to come over to take our drink orders. The place was not super busy at all, and there were multiple waiters and waitresses looking at us as we waited patiently for someone to take our orders. 30 minutes in there is still no drinks on the table and no one has yet to take our order. Another party comes in, was seated immediately and was receiving service with 5 minutes of being seated and their party was the same size as mine. Only difference was we were Black and they were White. We decided to wait 10 more minutes and when we still haven't had receive any type of service, we decided to leave. It wasn't until this point, when the staff sees us putting on our coats, do they want to ask for our order. Its unbelievable how such a beautifully designed place can be so discriminatory. The food is amazing here, but they're not very good to their regular seamless and in-person customers. We ordered on a busy day and they waited over an hour to call us and say they would need yet another hour to send the food over. An hour to call us just to say they would need another hour?!!!! Most places when they get backed up remove their seamless order options and they did not; if they knew they couldn't handle it, they should have waited 10 minutes the most to inform us. In addition they promised they would take the charge off my account and they kept it there and I had to dispute it through the credit card company because they refuse to change it. This was our first time at Moonstone. A friend recommended it. We love it. From the moment we got there we were greeted with hello and a smile from everyone there. We had a reservation and we were early and seated immediately. I cannot say enough about our server. She was bubbly, friendly, attentive, accommodating and very helpful with answering questions and helping us choose our meal. Her name is Bai. The food is the best Chinese food I have had in a very long time. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Not heavy or oily. The presentation is also very nice. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but well worth it for the quality. We both brought food home. The restaurant is attractive and very clean. Bathrooms are also clean. Can't wait to go back. Service is so attentive, and that starts with Tommy, the affable and ever so professional owner, and carries on right to his staff. I was excited to try this place after everyone told me they have a gluten free menu. I should have known there would be a problem after I asked if they used a separate fryer/oil for the gluten free menu items and was told no. But I ordered anyway and asked for my order to be steamed instead of fried. Before eating it I tested it with my Nima gluten tester just to be safe and unfortunately my dish came up positive for gluten. It was just vegetables and steamed tofu in a brown sauce so my guess is they may not be using gluten free sauce or soy sauce. I didn't return the dish because my party decided to eat it and said it tasted good. I did eat another dish I ordered that tested negative but I got sick anyway so there may have been something in the dish that didn't show up in the sample I tested. They should really consider bringing in a group like Gluten Intolerance Group that trains restaurants on how to safely prepare gluten free food. Until that happens I can not recommend this restaurant for celiacs. read more
