Came here last week the Friday after Thanksgiving and it was super crowded. It's definitely a very ~hip~ coffee shop, with a nice interior/ambiance. I got an iced matcha latte and we got a few pastries: some sort of salted croissant-like bread for my son and a mushroom pastry (? I think?) for my husband. Originally my husband wanted the egg salad sandwich, which looked really good, but it was sold out. Matcha latte was really good--it didn't have too much milk, so the matcha flavor was more prominent. If you like matcha and don't like how the flavor gets diluted with milk/cream/sugar, I'd definitely recommend getting it here. The pastries were really good as well. They were quite expensive but honestly I can see why. Stopped by here on a Monday afternoon and it was packed. Most of the pastries are sold out by lunch time, but sometimes they'll still have day old pastries for 50% off. The drinks are interesting, but the espresso they use is more on the acidic side which I personally don't like as much. However, the other flavors were unique and something I haven't seen at other places before. The everything croissant was also good, even for being a day old. Overall a cute cafe, and I would like to come back and try some more drinks. If you're looking for a place to do work, the outside tables are usually open but it might be harder to find a spot inside. read more

Trendy cafe with more of an "upscale" ambiance compared to other local spots. Visited on a Wednesday around 10-11a, was pretty packed so couldn't find indoor seating when we arrived, but there are outdoor tables. Eventually got a seat at the bar though! Got my partner and I's order fairly quick (5-10 min) and the service was good. The drinks were good, not extraordinary. I.e. the matcha latte tasted more so of milk. But the banana bread bun OH MY- so good! You have to get it: bread was so moist, sticky topping was sweet/salty with a taste of caramel. Egg sando was good but fairly pricey. I'll do an in-depth review on this place one day, but for now, I'll give you the truncated version. It's a perfectly vibey coffee shop with consistently line out-the-door traffic. The menu is obviously committed to craft coffee, ranging from pour-over options to the espresso drink menu. I got a fast-batch drip because I hesitated on the price point for the pour-over. I'm a long time coffee enthusiast who does pay premium. But after a certain point, $9-$11+ on pour-over makes me sea-sick. In all fairness, the coffee was great. Had a chance to try Moonwake Coffee Roasters and this was a great little coffee shop. It is located in a strip mall kind of area and there is parking although when we went it was pretty full. This is a nice coffee shop serving up pastries and lots of different coffees. The ambiance is perfect to hang out with friends or do some studying. The service was also pretty fast which was nice. This is what we ordered: *Orange Cardamom Latte - this was really yummy and loved the orange flavor. The latte was wholesome and would definitely order it again! *Pistachio twice baked berry crossaint - we were lucky that we were able to snag the second of the last two of these left. I was in the area after dropping someone off at the airport and had an appointment nearby in an hour. I had heard about this place before and was reminded of it by a friend who was telling me about an interesting roast they had with "melon-infusion" which got me re-interested to try it out. Got there before the morning rush on Saturday it seems. The menu contains your usual latte and mocha options with a few unique twist with Milo Mocha which I tried out. They had a good selection of beans available with a geisha whole bean available (kind of regret not grabbing one). Fortunately, I noticed a lone bag flipped the other way and it was the interesting named Voldemort Coffee Bean that had the melon infusion I was told about. So, I grabbed a bag. I kind of wish they had this on the menu so I could try it as well (maybe it was and I missed it) . Staff was friendly and check out was pretty quick. I also grabbed an egg sando which came out slightly different than what I had expected. It was more of an potato egg salad between sandwich bread when I was expecting a "puffier" egg sando. Oh well, it was still delicious. As for the bean, I did get around to grinding a small batch to try and the melon taste is definitely noticeable but not overkill. I was waiting there for about an hour and the cafe was quite the vibe. I saw a few others reading or working on their laptops. The wifi was public and you'd probably want to connect to it as cell service for Verizon at least was pretty bad (weak 4G only). On weekends, they do limit you to an hour at most due to traffic which I did end up noticing as I was leaving. Overall, if you are in the area and want some coffee, give this place a shot. read more

Busy cafe in San Jose serving creative drinks and pastries! Recently came here at 11am on a Saturday and waited around 15 min to order. We originally wanted to try their Everything Croissant and Black Sesame Banana Bostock, but they were out, so we got their Shio Pan, Egg Sando, and Pistachio Twice Baked Berry Croissant. The shio pan was not bad, but not as crispy and buttery as I expected it to be. The egg sando was good but something very simple that I feel like I could make myself (good but not worth the $11). The croissant was great - loved the twice baked portion and Pistachio + Berry filling - I would recommend this food item over the other 2 we ordered! We also tried their drinks - I got their Marzipan Latte, which honestly, I didn't really enjoy too much. It tasted pretty sour and acidic, but maybe it's just not to my personal coffee preferences. I've tried their Matcha Latte and Pineapple Cake Latte before, which were both decent, so I would recommend those drinks! Overall ambiance is quite busy. This was my first time at this particular café. I remember a long time ago. This particular building was actually a 711 and then I wanna say it closed down during the pandemic and was quite some time. This particular place had quite a facelift with this coffee shop and when I was there on a Wednesday afternoon, I was surprised that every single seat in the whole café was taken! Everybody seemed to have laptops and or strollers as friends were playing catch-up!! I had a Matcha mule and it was delicious! Although I don't like sweetener in my Matcha, so I got it without the orange/sugar sweetener. My friend had the cardamom orange latte and that was really good as well!! I also got a mushroom tartlet and that was superb! The mushrooms weren't overly cooked and actually a little undercooked on the pastry itself so when the gentleman heated the pastry up, it was cooked to perfection!! I also love how they have an open roasting area and you can see behind a glass window with all the roasting and what is done!! Service was rather quick considering every single table was full and most people stayed for a couple hours as we did playing catch-up. Great roaster to order beans from especially if you're into light and ultra light roasts. After letting these beans rest a little over a month I finally had a chance to brew a cup. If you like a strong matcha, definitely get the extra shot bc the matcha lattes are on the creamy, milky side. It goes great with their seasonal syrups and Minor Figures oat milk. With the personal cup discount and extra shot, the matcha lattes are ~$8 for ~16oz. Not sure if it's premade matcha or whisked to order but it's one of the best matchas in the area. My husband got the Americano, which was bitter tasting but he liked his coffee that way. Initially, the blackberry and thyme latte tasted straight like an Americano with strong coffee flavor due to the bitterness. After mixing it, it blended very well. Very chique and modern looking place, serves great tasting coffee, unfortunately I had to be probably the one bad experience they gave out that day, and I didn't do anything wrong besides showing up to patron the business. I ordered a regular latte and they print out the label and place it on the empty cup then move it along the counter like a conveyor belt. 5 minutes past, my name doesn't come up, 10 minutes past, still nothing, 12 minutes past, at this point I'm seeing people virtually parking, getting in line, ordering, then getting their drinks and leaving before I get my drink. A little bit after 15 minutes, I realize my cup got shoved behind a carafe by the people working there and it was out of sight of the barista, so they never saw it and never made it. I would have not caught this had I not been sitting on their counter seating area on the left where you can watch baristas front and center making coffee, and actually leaned over to inspect what was going on. I wave one of the baristas down to let them know that they managed to let my drink slip up. You cannot expect the customers to manage whatever is behind the counter, it should be a more orderly process so you're forgetting orders. Plain and simple. They did not apologize nor offer to comp me, wasting +15 minutes of my time. Also, I laugh at anyone trying to bring their laptop to do school/work here. They've gone all in on their home roasting and farmers market coffee operation into a full-fledged roastery and café in San José's Westside at the former longstanding 7-11® (RiP?). The Good: *Baked goods from SF's Neighbor Bakehouse (https://yelp.to/tXWUFbexw3) *Shared private lot, as well as street parking. *There's a Holder's Country Inn in the same strip mall so if you want to get some good ol' American 2k+/kcal breakfast after coffee then that's a decent spot. *Still appearing at the Cupertino De Anza College Farmers' Market every Sun 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. *Great vibe and ambiance, with simple modern décor and a buzz of jazzy lo-fi vibes in the background. *All coffees are roasted in house on the premises. *The flavors of the drinks were just OK. Nothing too sweet, which is good, but the flavors were kinda muddled. I wouldn't have minded more cardamom in my Cardamom Orange Latte, as I could barely taste it. The Meh: *50¢ oat milk tax =( *If you like your coffees tepid (at best!) then this is the place for you. Admittedly, I don't like it as hot as my beloved--who loves it lava hot!--but even my tender baby mouth could easily handle this room temp brew. *The employee at the register misheard me (slip off the finger?) and ordered the wrong pastry, as I wanted the Savory Pull-apart Bread, but ended up with Pistachio Berry Croissant. For me, the true sign of a great coffee shop is how far I'm willing to go just to visit--and Moonwake easily makes the cut. It's part of my regular rotation, even though it's almost a two-hour drive. I'm always recommending it to friends and family, especially those visiting from out of state. They make some of the best pour overs I've had in the Bay Area, hands down. I've tried a few different ones, but the Lord Voldemort co-ferment is still my favorite. Swung by here this morning to check it out after a coworker had recommended it. It was my first time visiting so I didn't know what to expect. I'd been meaning to try out new cafes and I think this might be my new favorite spot. When I first arrived, I didn't ask for any drink recommendations and went with whatever I saw on the menu that caught my eye. I tried out the Milo Mocha first, which is apparently made with Nestle Milo Malt. I think I'd give it about an 8 out of 10 because it wasn't too sweet and very subtle. After finishing my drink, I went in for another and asked barista Chris for a recommendation. I wanted something sweet and he recommended the sarSPROrilla drink and I gotta say, this might be my latest addiction! It's so smooth and creamy, I love the flavors and it's got a nice aftertaste. The staff and the overall vibe here is really really nice! I kinda wish they had couches but it's cool cause it's got a nice futuristic look to it, and the space feels very open. Moonwake has a chokehold on me -- I genuinely can't stay away. Easily my favorite coffee shop at the moment! They have an ample menu that's not too fancy or complicated--aside from their seasonal specials, which are always creative and worth trying. This summer's blackberry sage latte had me completely hooked--I came back twice in one day for it. I hope it makes a comeback. Their matcha is also a standout. They use Kettl, a Brooklyn-based matcha company that I personally really enjoy. There's plenty of seating and a decent amount of parking. It does get busy on weekends since a lot of people like to hang out, so it can get pretty loud -- definitely more of a lively scene than a quiet one. But the line moves quickly, and drinks are usually ready almost as soon as you order. So I don't mind the wait. And then there's the food. The chocolate croissant, made with Valrhona chocolate--is delicious. The egg sando is another favorite, perfect if you need something savory. There's something on the menu for everybody! A cute spot to study. The interior design is really organic and makes for great Instagram photos. The drinks are delicious as well. I ordered a matcha latte and the matcha powder they use tastes like high quality. It does great fairly crowded though and some of the tables are quite small. I don't see myself coming here to study for a long amount of time or to work from home. For me, the stools, crowds, noises, and limited seating are uncomfortable. I came on a Friday morning, so maybe I will need to return on a less popular weekday and try their pastries. read more

I always love finding new cute local coffee shops to hang out or do a little bit of work. The ambiance in here is so cute and I love the aesthetics. Very open and bright with lots of plants and greenery. Parking was readily available and there were a lot of seatings and tables if you want to sit for a bit. Though, the guest wifi was as bit slow. Nothing loaded for me so I just had to use my hotspot. I liked like the menu has a little bit of everything for everyone from pour over to lattes to matcha if you're not a coffee drinker. They also have a menu outside for you to look over if you're waiting in line. I wanted to be adventurous and went for one of the signature lattes - winter marzipan latte. It was interesting and the freeze dried raspberry on top really threw me off. The sourness didn't quite go well with the latte in my opinion. I tried their seasonal chica sweet corn cold foam on their cold brew and it was delicious. I also tried their classic vanilla latte with oat and it was made with perfectly roasted coffee. Came on a Saturday morning around 9:30am and it was about a 10 min wait before we were able to order. We saw the line getting longer as time went on so recommend coming earlier. The interior is nicely decorated and has a great ambience for studying or catching up with friends. It has tables and seats inside and outside but spots fill up quickly. It's also pet friendly! I ordered the matcha latte and it was pretty good but thought the price was a bit steep compared to other places. I also ordered a mushroom tart which they heated up for me and it was delicious. I wanted to try their coffees too so I went back for another drink and ordered the winter marzipan latte. It wasn't bad but I wasn't a big fan of spices. Overall really lovely cafe! read more
