Came with a group of 9. It is pretty spacious with like 20 or so tables. They have 2 bathrooms plus 3 sinks outside (there are sinks in the bathrooms). With so many Egyptian seafood spots in the area, we had to check out this newly opened one!
Besides the Morjan Lemonade on the menu, there are drinks are in the fridge (there is no tap water, only bottled) - $2 each.
They didn't have scallops or mussels when we went. You pick the seafood in the front. They will help you with any questions or recommendations.
The complimentary pita is hot and soft. The red dip (pepper?) is spicy but delicious! The white dip (tahini?) helps cut the spicy. There is olive oil on the table as well.
For mains, we went with:
-Seafood Tajin (tomato): great flavor. Although it is listed as a seafood tajin, it was like all shrimp, no other seafood. It worked out for us, as we each got a shrimp. I liked this better than the grilled shrimp.
-Red Snapper (fried): nice lemony hint to cut the friedness. Not my favorite way to have a fish, but this was the recommended cooking method, and we wanted variety. The dip on the side is a must as it is a bit dry without it.
-Sea Bass (x2, oven): tender. The seasoning was light.
-Branzini (oven): like the sea bass, though more tender. This was my favorite seafood.
-Shrimp (S) (x18, grilled) not much seasoning, so you mostly get a grilled flavor. I added some of the red dip for flavor. Although they're "small" shrimps, they are a decent sized bite!
-Octopus (grilled): was not the most tender, but pretty good
-Calamari (x5, fried): was very crispy
For the choice or side, hot bar or salad we got:
-Morjan Mazza (counts as 2 sides - comes with small portions of 2 Salads and 2 Dips):
-Greek Salad: ingredients were fresh
-Arugala Salad: I did not try this as there wasn't much to go around
-Hummus: great chickpea flavor
-Baba Ganoush (we got another order too): great consistency and flavor
-French Fries: crispy outside and soft inside. It came with ketchup, but I dipped it in the other dips.
-Lemon Potato (x2 - we originally wanted a Garlic Potato, but they didn't have): very lemony (too much so) and tender
-Tahini & Parsley Salad (we originally wanted spicy sauteed eggplant, but they didn't have): heavy on the parsley, which I enjoyed. I suppose that's why it's considered a salad. It is still a dip consistency.
The Morjan Lemonade was mostly crushed ice.
The cost was about $37 per person (after tax and tip). It is definitely worth it for the price, as we were all full. A little disappointed that they didn't have a few things that we wanted to try. Will have to come back and see if they have it then. read more
