I came here with friends for a pre-game to the LA Haunted Hayride. It's conveniently located, and they offer a vast drinks list and a great selection of burgers. There were four of us, and we were all hungry, so we told the server as much. Unfortunately, our cries fell on deaf ears. We ordered a pretzel as an appetizer, and it didn't arrive for over 45 minutes. For some reason, the Mac and Cheese was also listed as an appetizer. That also didn't come out until the pretzel did. We ordered three burgers, a smash burger, and two Classics. My one friend ordered onions with his smash burger, but they were missing. We also ordered the thicc onion rings, which were really crispy and flavorful. We all loved the French fries! OMG, the fries were the ultimate in texture and crispiness. These are THE BEST fries. The buns on the Classic burger were not the best; they were a bit too bread-heavy and not soft and pillowy. The burger meat was very flavorful, although slightly overcooked. I ordered my burger Medium and got it well done. Not really surprised there. Mac and cheese is trying too hard. It was too cheesy with the cream cheese, and the jalapenos inside didn't do much. I didn't have hot sauce on my dish for some reason, so the flavors weren't balanced. I would avoid. The service was slow. We wanted more drinks, quicker. That infrequent check-in led us to find our server to put out an APB on our food. The menu pushed the bread pudding! We felt the need to indulge after the long slog of issues with our food. It did not disappoint! We got it with the horchata ice cream, and it disappeared fast. We addressed our issues with the manager directly, and he was the sweetest person. He was very receptive to our feedback. He stressed that he wants our business in the future. He thanked us for talking to him. Honestly, the food was good. It was made with care, featuring fresh ingredients and homemade sauces. Parking here wasn't a struggle, but it's ok for LA. There is a TEENY tiny lot, then there's 2-hour street parking. We missed happy hour and hence were able to park for free. We sat on the patio that was decorated for Halloween with lots of fun characters. I'm a little mixed about Morrison. Maybe it's my fault, maybe not. Met a friend there last night, our first time there. Their description bills them as a gastropub, which to me sets certain expectations for atmosphere and vibe as well as the food. A little refined, upscale, lively but a little muted. Now, the food was good. I had a bourbon baconator burger which was great, and they did a good job on my fries. And dessert (cheesecake, also great). And they have a pretty extensive list of drink choices, too. The downside, for me, was - very loud, very crowded, and the vibe in my estimation leaned more toward sports bar (lots of big TVs showing games) than more refined gastropub. To raucous interior made it really hard to chat with my friend we survived, but it wasn't exactly the atmosphere we were looking for. Would I eat the food there again? If I were still living locally, sure. Would I sit inside again? Probably not. They do have some outside space that, in retrospect, might have been better choices. read more

Best happy hour in the nation. Great prices, huge portions and plenty of screens to watch my Detroit Lions dominate. This place is an institution for good reason. Happy Birthday to my one true love....My dog, Josh! We were looking for a cute place to sit and hang out while giving my pup pup all of the mental stimulation for his bday lunch and The Morrison was a great place to celebrate. Arrived around 1pm and were immediately seated in the back yard area where there were already a ton of doggies hanging out with their owners and having a lovely time. The area was perfect. It was shaded with fake grass which made it comfortable for dogs and humans alike. For Drinks, we ordered a few beers (green beer and Guinness for the season!) and also made sure to get a few mules under our belt too. I really enjoyed the cocktails for sure. In all honesty, I wasn't too impressed with the food. I mean, it was typical bar food, but probably could have used a bit more flavor, but not a super complaint. We also ordered off the happy hour menu; we got the sliders, wings, mac and cheese and potato skins. My favorite was the churro dessert. Perfectly sweet treat for the end of the meal. Now, Josh the dog....he loved his food! The best part of this place is there is a doggy menu so we got him the ground beef and rice bowl. THE PORTION WAS HUGE, but my dog definitely didn't complain. We ended up here on a random Saturday night, when Paul G's friend texted him to tell him that the Lakers/Celtics game was really good. So we decided to find a nearby bar to watch, and I'm glad we stumbled upon this place! I have been to the Burbank location a few times. This feels like an upgraded version, darker and cozier with nice booths and a spacious bar with lots of screens, and really attentive service. I really dig how seriously they take holidays; there were so many green lights and St. Patrick's Day knick-knacks that I didn't know that much St. Patrick's Day decor existed in the world! The menu seemed to have a different beer selection than the Burbank cousin, too. I ordered a few of my favorite Allegash Curieux. I told our server that the second beer tasted a little off, and without any hassle, she poured me a new one and told me that they had been telling the staff to use less sanitizer because of the lingering taste. I was appreciative that she handled it right away and knew what the issue was (sanitizing as opposed to being unsanitized!) For food, we shared the Cheesy Fries with Bacon Jam to snack on. Our server recommended the thousand island on the side, and everything ended up being served on the side. It tasted like a delicious, elevated In-N-Out animal fries with bacon, and the bacon jam was to die for. The only negative was their weird parking lot... it's one-way in with a narrow driveway and difficult to turn around and go back out if there aren't any spaces. I ended up parking across the street near the residential area. Both the inside and outside were decorated for the Christmas season, it felt so inviting and cozy. The fact that their daily happy hour is 12-6pm was a pleasant surprise! They have so many great food and drink deals on their HH menu. I ordered a cocktail, the grinch, it was fantastic. For munchies we ordered the chicken nachos, jumbo onion rings, and a classic burger. The portions were all huge and tasty. My favorite thing though was dessert which they are known for and I see why! If I were to choose my top 5 restaurants in Los Angeles, Morrison's would be among them. At this time of year and throughout the next months, Morrison is the place to be for a lot of good reasons. First, the decor still blows me away. They start in September and keep going until January. Every night, Morrison elves are hard at work creating magic. I am adding new pix here, as it changes all the time. Second, for a bruh spot, they serve a lot of vegetarian items that are delicious and satisfying. There is something for everyone on the menu. This time we tried their spiced cider and ale -- cinnamon, nutmeg, peppers, and pumpkin, utterly divine. And, they have legendary desserts, award winners, actually. It is no wonder that Morrison keeps winning national prizes for all of this. Add in the superb service that people like Manuel provide, the generous portions, the reasonable prices, the party atmosphere, games on every screen and even crystal fresh water outside for the pups (who are welcome on the patio, btw), and you have the perfect place for every meal. To start off we had really great experience with our waiter Teddy who explained the menu thoroughly for us and how everything worked. I got one of their seasonal cocktails (Pumpkin Tower) and it was delicious! We then got the happy hour mac and cheese to share (happy hour is from 12-6 which is awesome btw!) and it was some of the creamiest mac and cheese I've had. They advertise that they're the most dog friendly restaurant in America, but the only difference between them and other dog friendly restaurants is a 3-item dog menu. Dogs still can't eat inside the restaurant due to health code, even service animals, so the dog menu is only available outside. So I guess it's the most dog friendly patio in America? Doesn't sound as sexy as they want you to think. Good marketing though I guess? I've had a different burger here every time I've come here and they're just ok. This place calls claims to have some of the best burgers in the area, and that is also just good marketing on their part. There is nothing special about them at all. Service is meh, I've never come here and thought the service was spectacular. If you come here not expecting good service or amazing food, but just want to watch a game and have some beers - it's stellar. But I really don't get why this place is so revered, there's so many other places that are similar to The Morrison, but do a better job overall. read more

Morrison was my wife and I's first stop in Los Angeles. In honor of Mother's Day, the staff was generously handing out flutes of champagne to all of the women. We began our meal with a mai tai and the Morrison mule. Both were made well, but I preferred the mai tai. My wife got mozzarella sticks, which were better than average, and I got the bread pudding. It was voted "LA'S BEST" on Yelp, and definitely lived up to the hype. If you come here, the bread pudding is a must order. Dani was a great server, and we were really happy with our experience. So much so, we ended up going back the next day. On Day 2, we started off with the pretzel. It came with 4 dips: caramel whiskey, a cheese sauce, dijon mustard, and ranch. Of those, the caramel whiskey was my favorite, with the cheese sauce as the runner up. My wife got the sliders, and I got a cheeseburger with a fried egg. The burger and sliders were enjoyable, but nothing to write home about. The fries were typical bar fries. To say the least, the second day wasn't as impressive as the first. It was my first time visiting and I love it! Right now they're super decked out in Halloween decor and it looks so cool! The space is big with plenty of bar tops and table seating as well as some outdoor seating. Beside the amazing decorations, they have great cocktails and delicious food! I tried their spooky cocktails, "Trick or Treat", Herschel, Pumpkin tower, Zombie splat, and Midnight Falls espresso martini. As well as local favorites, the Black Smoke and Mai Tai. They have an excellent happy hour and we tried some of their starters: Mac n cheese, Jalapeño poppers, and Red hot wings. That Mac n cheese is some of the best I've had! It's so creamy and I love that it also has jalapeños mixed in. Honestly some of the best I've had. They all included great side options: french fries, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, and brussel sprouts. They're known for their burgers (they actually have many options to choose from with varying toppings) and the ribs were fall off the bone. We paired the espresso martini with their bread pudding. The bread pudding is cooked perfectly and topped with ice cream of your choice (I chose Jameson whiskey ice cream) and you pour of shot of warm butterscotch all over it.
