I have heard a lot of positive reviews about Morrow's so I had to try it this visit. There was only one reservation left and we were sat promptly. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the hostess was very polite. Our server was Katrina and she was nice also. We had just eaten so we just had drinks and oysters and ordered a entree to go. The punch out drink was very strong so keep that in mind when ordering. I asked for extra juice and it was still strong. The charbroiled oysters were delicious. We ordered the fried chicken entree with yams and Mac to go. The fried chicken was seasoned and cooked well. The yams were bomb. The Mac n cheese was just okay. Not southern but it was cool. Morrows is another new kid on the block. They come bringing R&B/Hip Hop Brunch vibes. On a Sunday they do limit their menu to only brunch so keep that in mind. Our server may not have come across as approachable but she definitely made up for it in attentiveness and anticipating my needs. The Gumbo Ramen was very flavorful and Spicy! For those of you who think bbq sauce is hot, this is not the meal for you lol. But that redfish and Grits though? The fish was so buttery and flaky and the grill on it added a welcomed smokey flavor. We were looking forward to the place SO MUCH. The waitress was unwelcoming, and made a remark to my fiancé that definitely caught us off guard. We had waited about 15 mins before getting water or any service at the table . The food was okay. The BBQ shrimp was a bit salty, and didn't come out that warm..especially the bread it's served with. My boss treated me to dinner, and since he's visited NOLA a few times, I guess this is one of his favorite spots to hit up when in town. He went with the grilled salmon, sticky rice, and salad. He also got us a side of corn bread. The ramen gumbo is what caught my eye on Yelp when I was looking this place up, but I didn't realize it was a Thursday special only (and I think during brunch too). No sweat though, because the Wednesday special was lamb chops with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus with this orange-colored, sweet glaze! My lamb chops were ordered medium rare and cooked to perfection... some of the better lamb I've had in a while, too. We sat at the bar and parking was super easy for a Wednesday afternoon/evening. I'm writing this as I am sitting outside (1 hour and 45 minutes) . We were told that we had a 40 minute wait. So we sat and and watched roughly 25 ppl go in. We understood that maybe they were busy, until we saw someone come in 50 minutes after us (party of 3) get seated. I could see the waitlist through the window and I saw their names beneath ours with less time. They were seated at a table that seated 4 because they told had a supposed party of 3. The problem was that their third person hasn't arrived yet. So they were seated without their full party and we sat in the cold. I asked what happened and she did say it was her "bad" There was no accommodation or acknowledgement or anything else. So I am now getting in an Uber and will patronize someone else. Would not go back. Rude hostess, poor organization, cheap utensils. Overall very disappointing. We got there 45mins after they opened and the hostess said it was a 2& 1/2 hour wait. We decided to stick it out because the menu looked good. We walk around and come back after 2hrs and then the hostess says it's actually 3hrs. We continue waiting and she still doesn't have a table available for us (even though they allegedly had time limits on seating). We eventually see some seats at the bar open so we just grab those. The food took another hour to come out. Details go a long way, and this place just did not have it.. they gave us cheap plastic utensils and paper napkins.. and never once apologized for the long wait. The only redeeming quality was that our bartender was really friendly and attentive. The food tasted good but they used instant noodles for the gumbo ramen and it was absolutely not worth waiting over 3 hours for. Don't waste your time. read more

Came here for brunch after Mardi Gras on Ash Wednesday. They don't take reservations, but they told us that if we waited outside would be served within an hour. We ended up waiting two hours as other group, somehow kept getting in front of us. When we were finally seeded, we were put at the back of the restaurant right near the kitchen, where it felt like we were not attend to at all. Our table was slightly dirty, to which we had to asked to clean before we were seated. Once our order was taken, we were served relatively quickly which didn't help us understand why it took so long for a third party of five to be seated. The food was good. They need to update their practices and allow online reservations that can hold your place in line. Also the waitlist needs a text option where you're told where you are in line. I had to order my food to go so the quality was not what I've experienced in the past at all. Let me begin by stating that I enjoy dining at Morrows. The food is always good and the service is always good. That said upon my most recent visit I was very disappointed to learn that Morrows charges a fee each time they refill your beverage. I usually have cocktails when I'm dining here but this time I chose to drink a soda since this was more of a kid friendly dining experience. our server promptly refilled all of our glasses each time they were low and yes she did ask each time if a refill was desired, however she did not mention there was a charge. I don't blame her nor did I make a fuss about paying over $90 for sodas for 6 people. my disappointment is with the policy itself. When dining at any other comparable restaurants, I am offered free refills. Why is a black owned restaurant who caters to predominantly patrons, charging each time they refill a carbonated beverage? Just seems like they are taking advantage of the people who support them the most. read more

I have been wanting to try Morrows and I finally had the chance on a work trip. We were immediately seated, only a party of 3. We ordered drinks and the honey sesame wings to start. The drinks were good and the wings were fresh, crispy and flavorful. For entrees we ordered the gumbo, salmon and a pasta dish, I can't remember the name. We all made happy plates, lol! The Staff is EXCELLENT. The space is very close and tight and they do a lot of business so it will be a tight squeeze. The food is really good and the signature cocktails are good. I had "Morrow oysters" and they are excellent charbroiled with crab so delicious.!!! Most everything you eat and drink here will be good. I do not prefer side street parking so I like to Uber a Lyft, but you could risk it if you want. I definitely recommend locals or tourists everybody will be happy. read more

If you're here for Essence Festival, don't come. I assume they do not want to serve anyone but locals. I was told it's $120 to get seated in a reasonable time (less than 3 hours). Plenty of open space and the bar is NOT first come first serve, it's on the 3 hour waitlist. I really wanted to try a local favorite but the host staff is far from friendly.
