Let me start by saying the food was not bad. But it wasn't great either. We had the Chilean Sea Bass -- delicious but a small portion -- and the 12 oz fillet. Fillet was medium-rare, but came out medium-well, so it was dry and just not delicious or juicy. I have been to Morton's and other corporate steakhouses before, so I was not too disappointed by this, it's pretty much what to expect. It's just OK. For the price, it really should be twice or three times as delicious. I was most disappointed in the server, who seemed like he didn't want to be there, and did nothing to make our night (last night out before the baby!) special. My pregnant wife asked if there was anything "fun a pregnant lady could have" from the bar, like a mocktail, or really anything just to have some sense of celebration. "No, not really... we have soft drinks?" replied the waiter. Wow. Didn't even go ask the bartender. And I have to hope the bartender would have been more creative. We had gone out several places in the last months that were more than happy to craft something 'special'. Bottom line, I would never really pay my own money to go here again. read more

My husband and I came here for our 10 year anniversary. The food was good but service was a bit slow. We would come again just for the food.

It's an okay steakhouse, but there are some major problems I have with this place. One, whenever I get steak it doesn't have any flavor and it is always burnt. Not charred, but burnt. Also, the last time I went there I got lobster tail and it was ice cold. But I do like the crab cakes and a side I got last time were bacon and blue cheese mashed potatoes which were delicious. I don't like the salad at all and the service is never good. There are better steakhouses that I know of and I will never be back. read more

I have been a Mortons customer for as long as I can remember. I made a point of going to the local Motons when ever I was out of town and there was a Mortons there. Always reliable great food. So I find myself conflicted, last night went here for dinner and drinks, of coarse the food was as good as I expected. However, the level of customer service has slipped a bit. I will for sure go back, buy maybe not as soon as I would have, had the service been as good as the food. Unfortunately it was just ok. The service was great and our server was very knowledgeable. The decor was great and it was nice and quiet in there. Great place to have a conversation. In fact, all the staff was very attentive. The food unfortunately just seemed a little off. We had potatoes Lyonnaise and they were really over cooked chopped potatoes. Very crunchy, like something you might get at a breakfast place on the side of eggs. The lobster bisque had some kind of heavy pepper in it. We were told it was Tabasco. In our opinion, lobster bisque shouldn't be spicy. It really had a punch, like Mexican food. We like Mexican food, but we don't expect to find that kind of heat in our Steakhouse lobster bisque. We ordered two filets. One was cooked properly but one was really overdone. We sent it back and they sent out a second one which was cooked properly. That stated, they did miss on the first try. I've been here too many times to count and finally am just getting around to reviewing here! As you could tell by my opening statement, I've been here a lot... And for obvious reasons! This is one of those places that simply just has it down! From the food, to the service, and all in between, Morton's is a classic. The seafood has always been top notch, as well as the steaks! Some of the most flavorful cuts of beef outside of the city, and it's always consistent. The reason I don't give this a full 5 stars stems from the fact that it charges city prices despite being 20 miles out of the city. Fortunately not every item is overpriced, in the specific case of their happy hour special. They offer a limited menu between 5-7 in the bar only but at a fraction of the price regularly. For the happy hour special prices I would give it a 5 star with out a doubt in my mind, but unfortunately it's not always happy hour and the other remaining hours open tend charge slightly to high for comparable steaks in the area. But like I said, they happy hour is a must! I highly recommend the Crab Blt and Mini Filet sliders, and for under $20 how can you beat that! Happy hour WILL make you and your wallet happy! read more

This is some high class dining! We sat in the bar and ordered off of the bar menu and it was an amazing deal for excellent food! The smoked salmon pizza and crab cake sliders are to die for! It's hard to believe that they offer such gourmet food for such a good price (most of the appetizers are 5 to 6 dollars). We also had about three different people come to our table and make sure we were enjoying our meal and to see if we needed anything else! Excellent customer service! And yes, as Luke S. warned, beware of the cougars sipping on wine and lurking in the corners! Or, if cougars are your bag, baby, I suggest you come here because they are quite plentiful! read more

cant say i was overly impressed with this place. i knew we would have good food but the service left something to be desired. We made reservations through open table a few weeks before going. Didnt seem like anyone could find our reservation when we arrived with our party of 6. We were shown to our seats after a few minutes. It took at least 15 minutes to get our drinks. The restaurant was about half full and the bar was hopping but that's a long time to wait for a few standard drinks. Comedy of errors ensued. We were there for my 50th birthday party. Since we wanted to feel free to order what we wanted, we asked the waitress if we could get separate checks for our party. 3 couples so 3 checks. I understand restaurants don't care for this but it was a simple question. The waitress explained that she'd be happy to give us separate checks but we'd have to go by a numbering system. We were each assigned a number and then we had to tell her which numbers went together so she could figure out the check When we ordered a second drink, she asked us what our number was. It was ridiculous. Then, an appetizer showed up out of nowhere so my husband began eating it only to learn it was for a different table. We hadn't been to this restaurant before so we thought they may bring this dish to everyone. . The wait staff actually took the appetizer from our table and gave it to the correct table after we had sampled. It was so concerning to see. A great place like this should have left the appetizer and ordered fresh for the table next to us. My bone in ribeye was very well done on the outside but perfectly done on the inside. We also shared two sides, brussel sprouts and augratin potatoes which were delicious. Very slow water/drink refills. At one point, our waitress was gone for about 30 minutes. Never came back to ask us how everything was. The restaurant was only half full so I'm not sure where she went. Our bill for the two of us was $270. The food was good but for that kind of money, I expected to be treated like a queen. That did not happen. read more

Arrived before the rest of my party and decided to have a beer at the bar. The bartender did not acknowledge me for about 5 minutes. There were only 4 other people at the bar. When he did come over, I asked about the beer selection and he slapped the beer menu on the bar. He was also rude to the elderly couple who were eating at the bar. Unbelievable. I found out about $1 filet slider night just in the nick of time and headed over. The sliders were very tasty and obviously a good deal (though on a regular night at the bar they're only $8 for 4, so a pretty good deal all the time). We also tried the chips that came with a yummy blue cheese dipping sauce. They were very yummy and also on the bar menu, but at some other similar restaurants would often be complimentary. I wasn't too impressed with the drink I chose (some sort of Beach something or other?), which was incredibly strong and could have used a little squirt of some fruit juice to sweeten it up. okay, now i must admit. i'm logging this review one month after i actually ate there. let me start with the positives... the ambience is excellent. the service was excellent. on with the review. 1) it was my birthday and they had a printed menu for the "special occasion", but it was on regular typing paper. i think it may have been an 8x14 piece, but still... i mean, if you're going to go through the trouble, use card stock at least. 2) the lobster bisque was bland and not that creamy. there were two pieces 0.5inch lobster that were actually pretty tasty, but there was something wrong with the base. it didn't really taste like anything. sort of like... lobster water. 3) i had the porterhouse. i like it rare, but i think i may have ordered it medium rare. it was cooked to my specification, but the meat had this really odd texture. it was shredding in my mouth. i would liken it to a braised short rib texture where even as i would cut it with my knife it would shred apart. i was thoroughly not impressed. my husband had the bone in rib eye and he said it was defintely average if not subpar. 4) i think we had the creme brulee for dessert which was probably the highlight, sad to say at a steak house. oooh... one more positive. the maitre d took a digital photo of us and put it in this morton steakhouse card stock frame. i thought it was cheesy and cute. i would not recommend this place unfortunately as great as the service was. up north, you're probably better off going to ruth's chris. read more

We stopped by Morton's for a quick drink and a couple appetizers last night. I wish we hadn't. I'll NEVER go there again. EVER. It's not worth the lousy experience. The older male bartender barely acknowledged our presence. When I asked for a clean wine glass, he walked away without acknowledging my request. He actually did bring a new glass, and thoughtlessly dumped my wine from the dirty glass to the clean glass. He never said a word to us. Not even a simple apology for the gross glass he originally served. Yuck. We decided to order the jumbo shrimp cocktail: $4.25 per shrimp. Imagine my surprise when the shrimp were the SMALLEST jumbo shrimp I've seen. Also, they were over cooked and rubbery. Skip this place. Don't waste your time. It's not worth it!! read more

Last night went to dinner at Mortons for their Lobster Night. The lobster was tough and over cooked. The worst we ever had. I sent mine back for Sea Bass for $45.00. The serving size was about three ounces. Its really horrific to be ripped off. And the sides at $13 for asparagus. The serving had 5 pieces We requested it to be grilled, it came sitting in butter. five pieces, one piece per person. .Our waiter said the Caesar salad is for three. The serving portion was so small. It looked lost on the plate. There are better places than this. It certainly isn't the Mortons from years ago. read more

I went here with a friend on last Saturday evening at 7 pm without a reservation, and we were offered seats on the bar (otherwise a 1 hour wait). Opening the menu, my mouth began drooling uncontrollably when I saw "prime rib" on the menu with a "Friday & Saturday only" asterisk. Score! Unfortunately, they did not have any left! No score! How can a high-end steakhouse run out of prime rib on a Saturday evening by 7 pm? I settled for the rib eye, which I found to be quite a bit too salty for my taste. Also, it was brought to our table as we were barely halfway through our salads. Granted, you aren't going to get the same service in the bar area as in the dining room, and our bar waitress was doing the best she could, but there should be a bit more communication between all parties involved (bread, salad, steak were all brought by different people), especially when you are dropping $47 on an entree alone. All in all, a decent steak, but not the quality or experience I'd expect from an $80 dinner. read more

We took our son here several years ago for his birthday with 3 of his closest friends. Unfortunately, the service, food quality, and the presentation of raw beef before dinner was poorly done. I did phone corporate afterwards complaining the $450.00 I spent for 6 people was disappointing. They responded with a $150.00 voucher as a consolation. Just celebrated a birthday at Morton's. It was a really frustrating experience because many of the items on the menu don't have a description. For example, there were several salad options - The Mortons Salad, The Chopped Salad, The Bibb Lettuce Salad - and we were trying to find out what was in each so we could order one. We couldn't get a good answer on this from the waiter because he didn't know the ingredients, his English was not understandable, and it was really hard to hear because of bad acoustics in the dining room. If you are going to charge over $14 for a salad, I think the descriptions of these salads should be written in the menu! The service was pretty good (they gave us a picture of our group and a complimentary dessert because we were celebrating the birthday), but overall, the prices were really high! read more

We went to Morton's last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were a party of 10, including our son and daughter and their spouses as well as our 4 grandchildren. Upon being seated we noticed that the menus awaiting us on the table had been personalized with my wife's name. Very nice touch. We had the most competent service there, spearheaded by our two waitresses (whose names I cannot recollect with any certainty except I believe that the one serving our end of the table may have been named Cici). Both were outstanding. We were aware that Morton's is an expensive restaurant so the prices did not surprise us. My beautiful wife had done some research beforehand and found us a relative bargain. For example, their 6 ounce Filet Mignon is regularly priced at $45 ala carte (everything at Morton's is ala carte). HOWEVER, there was a special that offered a choice of four appetizers, a choice of four main courses (including a 6 ounce filet mignon) a choice of four side dishes and a choice of four deserts, all for $40, or $5 LESS than a 6 ounce filet mignon off of the regular menu! Still expensive, but a bargain, relatively speaking. I had the filet mignon and nearly everyone availed themselves of the special menu, even most of the grandchildren. We all agreed that the meals were exceptional, especially the Lobster Bisque which my wife and I shared. Would we return? Absolutely! Hats off to Morton's and thank you for making our celebratory dinner a memorable experience. read more

Went for a birthday dinner, should have gone to Ruth Chris, or Wildfire. The bill was over $235 for two with a complementary dessert. I find that high for a less than fabulous dinner. The old Morton's had more panache with the bring out the steak trays. I had my 6 ounce steak medium, it was soft, but I thought lacked the usual juice contained within the steak. To me wasn't worthy of $42. The shrimp Alex.... Is terrific, the service was a bite rushed at the start, but we slowed it down, nothing like going out to enjoy a meal and feel like your going thru that drive thru. Sep 9, 2012 - Dinner Excellent meal. I would return in a heartbeat. Dinner consisted of French Onion soup, tomato and blue cheese salad, loaf of bread and their prime double cut pork chop. I don't normally eat bread, but this was outstanding and I couldn't stop eating the bread, followed by wonderfully seasoned French onion soup. The beefsteak salad was excellent too, perfectly seasoned. The prime chop was grilled to perfection, juicy, tender and good to the bone. Dinner was supplemented a beefeater martini and 2 glasses of pinot noir wine. Excellent. I ate in the bar area. There are a few TV's to watch. Full menu or a lighter bar menu is available. I have to admit, it is an expensive meal, but well worth it. Enjoy! read more

Occasion: Saturday night dinner date away from the kids. Summary: My favorite food in the world is steak and I had not been to a Mortons so we decided to cross this one off the list. Overall it was a very good dinner, but also very pricey, so this is definitely a splurge spot. If it weren't for the fantastic bone-in fillet, I probably would not go back, but that alone makes it worth a return visit. Food: Tuna Tar tare appetizer, wedge salad, bone-in fillet, bone-in rib eye, asparagus, grand marnier souffle, one cocktail, one glass of wine. 200$ for 2 people. The tuna was fantastic, I am not a seafood lover, but I really enjoyed this. The salad was fine, nothing remarkable, but a classic wedge is hard to improve or mess up. The steaks were both excellent, but the bone-in fillet was out-of-this-world good, by far the best steak I have ever had. It had a more intense flavor than the rib eye but with the butter-smooth texture of a fillet, it practically melted in my mouth. This one is not to be missed. The asparagus was fine. The souffle had a decent grand marnier flavor, but the texture was slightly off and the egg flavor was very prominent, almost like fluffy sweet scrambled eggs. I definitely would not order it again. Service: Service was fine, nothing outstanding. Our waiter was ok....there were long periods where we had to wait for him to order drinks, he didn't tell us about their dining special (I think because he wanted a bigger bill), didn't have all the menus with him and forgot to bring us another one until 15 minutes later when we reminded him, took my dirty knife off of my salad plate and placed it on the table with the intention that that is what I would use for my steak (I asked for a new one), and got our table mixed up with another when bringing out food but he had a pleasant attitude and was apologetic rest of the staff was great (water was always full, plates were cleared promptly, etc.) which helped to balance out the not so remarkable waiter. There was nothing major to make the service bad, but for a 200$ dinner I definitely expect better. Ambiance: Nice surroundings, but a little sterile. It is not as warm and "rich" feeling as the downtown steakhouses. The dining room was way too brightly lit, I felt like I was eating in my kitchen. read more

This location is much worse than the others. We decided to give this location another chance after not visiting for years due to a prior negative experience. This time was worse and I was reminded, more so than the last time, why I avoid it. The customer service is awful. I called a full week in advance to place a Mother's Day order. The employee told me that I should place the order on Mother's Day, which sounded incorrect, so I asked if he could verify. I was put on hold for approximately 10 minutes, until I decided to call back again. I spoke with the manager this time, who told me that I should place the order on Mother's Day. Come Mother's Day, the location was no longer accepting take-out orders when I called prior to lunch time, and the manager claimed to not remember our conversation the prior week. He was unapologetic, said there was nothing he could do, and made no effort to find a solution. He could not have cared less. I ended up driving to the downtown Chicago location, which had phenomenal customer service from the moment I entered, and my mom was able to have the enjoyable Mother's Day meal that she was hoping for. The Northbrook location is disorganized, cost me time and gas driving to another location, and created a ton of NEEDLESS stress on Mother's Day. Avoid the Northbrook location at all costs. read more

I was here as part of a meeting I was a part of. First, the service is stellar and our water glasses stayed full, as did our wine glasses. The food is fantastic. The onion rolls are melt in your mouth delicious pillows of yeasty goodness, but I would caution against eating your fill of these as the actual food is awesome and the portions are large. I had the tuna tower which was huge and full of tuna and wontons. MMM... I also had the 8 ounce Wagyu beef sirloin and sampled an array of the sides. I loved the fact that they cooked it to a perfect medium rare and the meat was not oversalted which I find rare at most steakhouses. The Brussels sprouts and asparagus really complemented the meat well. As for the dessert, I loved the chocolate cake and the key lime pie. I have been to several Morton's and this is ok. Great service as I have experienced in the past and come to expect. We went for a double celebration, my daughter graduated Navy boot camp and I turned 1 year younger (my birthday) the manager took our photo and gave us 2 copies and my daughter and I a dessert on the house. They have a great military special and give you the same portions as the regular menu. We were seated immediately and enjoyed our dinner. I was there about two weeks ago on a weeknight, and I finally have time to give a review. I wanted to start with a very warm welcoming by the manager I believe his name was Michael . We went to the bar and quickly were ask if we wanted a cocktail, we proceeded to order a couple of state street manhattans and they were perfectly prepared , that night Michael also was working the bar . He proceeded and gave us menus and made some recommendations.we started with a couple appetizers and both of them were excellent! Then we split the new York strip and a baked potato. The meat was lean tender and cooked perfectly. The potato was hot and fluffy served with quality butter and chives. It was such a great evening ! I've been in the business for years and I can be very critical at times . But I only can say food was excellent, but the service we received was impeccable. It's the quintessential steakhouse experience, with all of the trimmings. Great cuts. Perfectly cooked. Great sides. And a Grand Marnier Soufflé for dessert, and what more could you ask for? A cigar?
