FABULOUS! Stopped by this Saturday morning after watching an Arsenal FC match across the street at Maggie McGarry's with a party of seven. We were seated immediately in the back both (which can easily accommodate eight) and received quick and friendly service. While the diner's exterior and interior are rather unassuming and simple, the food exhibits a level of sophistication one would expect to pay twice as much for in other restaurants. Our table ordered the eggs benedict, eggs florentine with salmon, breakfast burrito and blue berry pancakes. Everything looked amazing! I had the eggs benedict ($10) and their hollandaise sauce is one of the best I've had in the city so far. What's so unique about their sauce is that it has a smokey quality, that is only slightly spicy, but loaded with rich, warming flavor that permeates the entire dish. I always get the feeling like I'm in a refrigerator. It's so cold in there. And the decor is a little weird, too. We were in the area and felt like a burger. After pulling up yelp we saw Mo's had some stellar reviews and was only a few blocks away, JUST off the main path. A very tiny interior with at most 10 tables and room for 6 at the bar, we arrived for a late lunch without any crowd issues. Service was friendly, fast, and on point. We both ordered burgers (tex-mex and western bbq). I had the tex-mex and it was excellent. The jalapenos were not pickled but instead just grilled which brought a perfect amount of heat. The bun was lightly toasted and did not fall apart. The burger patty was cooked to a PERFECT medium-rare, half way through the burger I noticed the bottom bun was blood soaked and delicious. I'm not a burger patty temperature snob, if you want it rare or well that's fine with me. I am a snob when it comes to actually cooking it to order though and Mo's got it perfect for both our burgers. French fries are of the thin and crunchy variety and tasted great. Why not 5 stars? I'm not quite sure exactly other than it just doesn't *feel* appropriate and I gotta go with my gut. We really wanted to like this place. We ordered a burger with no mayo. They slathered mayo all over it. When we returned it they took it back to the chef who wiped the mayo off the burger, changed the bread and handed it back to us. Disgusting!!! We returned it again and said that wouldn't do. I used to come here for lunch at least once a week, because their food is delicious and generously portioned. The last time I tried to each lunch here, the waitress (who I recognized) would not let me sit at a table and insisted that I sit at the counter. I had already sat down at a table, so this was a little awkward. There were a couple of leering, grinning construction workers sitting at the counter, with one stool in between them that apparently was meant for me. Yeah, that's EXACTLY what I want to do: sit between a couple of sleazy dudes during my precious lunch break. Um, No thanks lady. I should have asked her is *she* would want to sit between them! What really upset me is that there were other, empty tables available. The place wasn't totally packed. I understand needing to keep tables available for groups of 2 or more, but I'm pretty sure that the tourists from France aren't relying on this place as a tried-and-true lunch spot. I was supposed to meet some friends for brunch at Mama's this morning, but upon seeing the line we looked at each other, said 'F that' in unison, then whipped out our trusty smartphones and started looking for the next best thang. Soon enough, we were headed up the street to Mo's. Oh my goodness, SUCH a good choice! First of all, one side of the Mo's sign is currently missing the "O" and the "S", so we spent the first 15 minutes of brunch trying to decide how to pronounce this newly named spot. We decided upon mmm followed by a guttural tongue stopping sound. Yes, we are that awesome. Anyway, we were seated immediately and our server was super on it. She brought us coffee, juice and water seconds after we ordered and refilled constantly as we ate, which is a must during brunch service in my humble opinion. The food rocked. I shared the breakfast burrito and a fruit cup with my friend and we couldn't finish either. The burrito was at least the size of my forearm and the fruit cup had strawberry, kiwi, and blackberries in it. Now THAT'S how you make a fruit cup, son! The total bill for 4 peeps? I went in yesterday for a business meeting with my coworkers: one is a health nut, one can eat anything, and the other is a vegetarian. This is a brunch review. We came to Mo's after seeing the 2-3 hour line at Mama's and were not disappointed. The place was packed pretty full, but we were still seated within 5 minutes. The inside has a fun, diner vibe. We had: French Toast with Fruit - not quite as good as Sweet Maple's french toast, but 5 good sized slices is sure to satisfy you're sweet tooth. Also definitely recommend adding the fruit! Eggs Florentine - excellent bearnaise sauce, and really good home fries with it With coffee (which was also great and came with free refills), the whole thing cost about $30. We liked the meal so much that we came back a week later to try a burger. It''s for places like Mo's that I wish there were half stars on Yelp. I didn't like committing to 4 stars but it's better than 3 stars. So please consider this a 3.5 star review. Why? Mo's serves a really tasty burger. The meat is super juicy and if you order it medium rare (how I always order my burger everywhere, everytime) it comes out super bloody. If you can handle a milkshake, this is a great place to order one. Why? You'll be able to squeeze 3 solid servings out of it. The place is small and cramped but they have a pretty steady turnover so you don't usually have to wait all that long to be seated. Mo's also offers other items and even breakfast but I go to Mo's for what they're known for: burgers. Their bacon is always just the way I like it. Crispy but tasty. And they have their own special mayonaise that has a little kick to it but basically makes the burger. So why the 3.5 stars? The bun is too big. It's really that simple. It might seem like a minor gripe but it's not. You should never take a bite into a burger and get nothing but bun. If I wanted bread, I'd order bread. The meat-to-bun ratio is consistently subpar. The meat is thick but is only in the center of the bun. There is way too much extra bun on the burger. I have friends that also agree and who have stopped patronizing Mo's because of it. I myself had not gone to Mo's in a couple of years because of this. There are other great burger joints in and around SF. However, I went back recently and i was reminded why I once touted Mo's as the best burger in SF. The meat really is that good. So if you're craving a burger, fries, and a shake, check out Mo's. Be prepared for the special Mayo and an oversized bun. But also expect a very tasty burger (once you get around the extra carbs). read more

More than a diner or a neighborhood cafe, Mo's is sweet, innocent, proud and simple, and among the ambitious menu lies a great burger in the eyes and minds of about half the Yelpers sharing their burger experience at this long time North Beach favorite. They've also opened a location in the Yerba Buena Gardens across the street from MOMA and almost on top of Moscone Convention Center. The burger is often outstanding, and almost as often a disappointment hence the 3 stars rather than what I'd love to give them, which would be a solid 5 starts if they would just get their act together and consistently with it. They claim that they have their meat made from premium cuts, maybe they do it themselves, and it is usually pretty good but lacks much flavor. This inconsistency is found also in their fries, salads and fixings along with a wide variation in service. They also do great breakfasts and that maybe is now the bulk of their business, hard to tell, but I do get the feeling that they're no longer focused on the burgers that put them on the map originally. Only the North Beach location offers breakfast but both offer their burger and salad menu for dinner. Let's talk ingredients. They do start with great meat, and when they cook it to order and it's what you want, it's really good, almost great. They used a good bun and toast it, they use a lot of high quality cheeses and most of the fixings are good stuff, well handled. But there is this nasty problem of inconsistency and just looking at the Yelp reviews which are all over the place, one gets the impression there is a widely recognized problem. So we were told the wait at Mama's was over an hour at 8am. We searched and found this spot. Walked over and I'm glad we did. It is truly a hole in the wall. Maybe 8 tables. We ordered breakfast and when it arrived we were pleased. Omelet was perfectly cooked as was the Benny my wife ordered. My friend Juan and I were searching for a place in the city to quell our hangovers, well his more than mine. Afterall, it was the day after his 24th birthday celebration. After about an hour trying to search for a place to eat that didn't have a line around the corner (see: Ma's Restaurant), we settled on this place. We waited about 15 minutes working up our already massive appetites. Just staring at the food being prepped made our stomachs want to jump out of our bodies. Juan ordered the bagel and lox and I ordered the Blue Cheese Burger (medium) with fries. My burger was amazing. It was cooked perfectly over their lava stone grill. I don't know if this contributes to anything, but at least it sounds pretty rad. I also loved the fries. Juan said his bagel and lox were damn good. The french burger is soooo good (stuffed with goat cheese and topped with carmelized onions, it has become a recurring figure in my late afternoon-I'm stuck at this sucky job- food dreams). We ordered three burgers to share because we were doing a taste test comparison - the Alpine burger which was served with goat cheese instead of gruyere or swiss, the Western burger with BBQ sauce, cheddar and bacon and the mushroom burger. I'd give the burger a 3.5 if I could! The first bite of the burger was nice and juicy, but as it cooled it became dry and the meat was a little tough because the patty had been pressed pretty well. The meat also wasn't seasoned enough, and could have been improved with a little more salt & pepper, maybe a little bit of finely minced onion for texture and moisture. The bun was also a little dry for my tastes since I prefer a soft Kaiser roll but everyone has their personal preference. However, the condiments were very good. The goat cheese with caramelized onions in the Alpine burger was my favorite. Sure, there are other burger joints who take the basic burger up a notch by adding brie, but that cheese doesn't have a very high taste profile and tends to just melt into the rest of the condiments. The goat cheese had a nice creamy chalkiness that tasted good with the buttery, sweet caramelized onions. My dining companions also really dug the mushroom burger and the western bbq burger; after all, how could you not like crisply fried, thick cut bacon? Also, the service wasn't stellar. I don't recall the service to be especially warm, or the waitress coming over very often to check on our progress. Just ate at Mo's for lunch. This was probably my fourth visit over the years and it has never disappointed. The burgers are awesome and unlike so many other burger places, I can testify that Mo's actually hand-forms their patties out of fresh ground chuck. The size of the patty is always perfect. Medium-rare (how i order all red meat) is a FOR REAL medium-rare, not a medium like most places end up doing it. Take one bite and the juices start flowing pretty good out of the burger. Awesome! The fries are great, perfectly salted. I've also had the milkshake here, and was very impressed. When I use to lived in North Beach, I would to come here maybe twice a month to get my favorite Bleu Cheese Hamburger as a Friday night treat for a long week at work. Fast forward to 3 years later, I went here with my partner after he got his 2nd tattoo in North Beach and I was craving a burger. He and I ordered the same Bleu Cheese burger, medium rare and some shakes to complete our experience. Our food came quickly and I bit into my burger. I was in burger heaven, the burger is still the same quality after all these years, great moistness, the pugent bleu cheese melting into the burger....so freaking good! Mo's & Big Mouth are in a constant battle for the #1 spot in my red-blooded American heart that's reserved for Best Good-Ol'-Fashioned American burger, at least in SF. True, I get to Big Mouth more often because it's walkable, but Mo's is the traditional pre-SF fireworks burger spot, and yesterday I was reminded anew why I love it so much. HUGE patties of high-quality beef cooked precisely to order, and tons of different toppings options. Now, I will say that the fries are rather ordinary (and cost extra), but as I don't much care for fries in general, I don't hold that against them. (You can also get seafood chowder or cole slaw as a side if you want.) I'm a big a fan of the California burger (Jack with avocado), but you can also order creations like the Tex Mex burger, the BBQ burger, a grilled chicken burger, or a veggie burger. Finally, the milkshakes. LOVE the milkshakes. What can you really say about homemade milkshakes, except that if you love good ones, you'll love these. (A quarter extra will get you malt.) I've had a lot of burgers in the city, and most of them supposedly on 'must try lists', but the this meat is always cooked perfectly, the sauteed onions and mushrooms could be eaten alone, and the bun holds up under all the wonderful juices. If you're sick of the typical North Beach Italian food (it all tastes the same at the end of the day) then I definitely recommend this place! Their breakfast is super yummy and the portions are HUGE! The French toast with fruit is our favorite and the veggie omelet is delish. The other night we flew in from the east coast and were contemplating where we would go eat at 9:30pm. Instead of being piggies and going to Golden Boy's, we walked down the street to Mo's. I had the tuna melt and he had his favorite chicken pesto. Oh, we HAD to have the fries, which are freshly cut and not greasy at all. The service here is amazing!! The ladies are super nice and get this... I completely left my purse on the chair the night we flew in (I'm blaming this on the fact that we traveled all day...). We were already up the block and the girl ran and gave it to me. BURGERLICIOUS! I've been a regular customer at Mo's burger for quite a while. The restaurant is a classic local burger and breakfast joint. They also serve specials on certain days for roast beef/turkey. FOOD: I would have rated each burger, but I have to say you can't really go wrong with any burger you get. The meat is flavorful and cooked over a fired grill. The burger melts from the juiciness of the meat. I usually go for the california burger because it comes with avocados, but the restaurant has plenty of other options. You can also add a fried egg as well! Blueberry Pancakes: These are also amazing! Just as everyone describes the pancake is moist and the batter they use to make the pancake is delicious and flavorful. When I'm hungover, I often get it in my mind that if I just eat __ I will be better. Sometimes it's a smoothie or sometimes a burrito, but a lot of the time it's a BLT from Mo's. It's a few blocks from my apartment and my roomie and I will walk down and place an order to go. I love watching the line cooks make it and about a million other things at the same time. The bacon they use is not too thick and not too thin and perfectly crispy. The bread is a really toasty, so toasted that it usually cuts up the roof of my mouth, but I don't mind, it's worth the pain. And when you add in beefsteak tomatoes sliced thick, with a big leaf of romaine and smother it in mayo mmmmm. So delicous! I recently stumbled onto Mo's Grill while wandering the streets of North Beach in search of good eats. Mo's is a cute little dinner with a 3 Stooges theme; once I saw that, how could this place disappoint?? We were seated fairly quick and the joint was packed. I ordered the Smoked Salmon on Toasted Bagel with came with cream cheese, garlic, cucumber and avocado. My main problem with the dish was that the smoked salmon was served in big hunks and a bit difficult to eat and chew in conjunction with the bagel. The avocado was a bit unripe (which could happen at any restaurant). I ended up eating each part of the dish separately. I have to say, I didn't really enjoy it but I ate it since I was starving! M had the Denver Omelette and said it was alright. It was a little oily but you expect that at a diner-type restaurant. Other diners were already onto burgers which looked pretty good from my vantage point. Would I go back and try a burger? Maybe, if I was in the area again and didn't already have a particular place in mind. My food was just okay. Getting ravenous after the 4th of July night time fireworks display, Mo's Grill offered the perfect All-American closure for Independence Day. Unpretentious, friendly and down to earth service combined with a charred from the flames gourmet patty with French fries washed down with a couple of super-cold Sprites did the trick. Slaughtered the Cheeseburger with Swiss cheese medium rare and bloody (both, literally and figuratively) good. Loved it every bite!!! Tasty and succulent, what a feast!!! Mo's is still having that allure of the All American diners of the 50s too, Marty McFly not included though... Mo's is the best!!! The burgers are huge and juicy, made over a crazy-looking rotating grill, which apparently makes burgers tase better. A Mo's burger will take both hands to eat, and be prepared, it will be messy. But trust me, you will love it. It will hit the spot like no other burger will. You will be addicted and no other burger will be good enough. Be prepared. And if you're not a burger lover, that's OK. There is plenty of other delicious stuff on the menu, including an awesome breakfast selection. Nothing fancy, just run-of-the-mill omelettes, coffee, eggs and bacon. But my eggs are never runny and the bacon is always fresh and perfectly crispy. The omelettes are great too, there is a whole half of an avocado in the California omelette! Plus, it is ready in minutes and is always hot when it gets to the table. All for less than $20 for two people! You can't beat that with a stick. All in all, Mo's ROCKS!!! Went there this past Sunday with the BF because the line for mama's was too long. Greatly enjoyed my meal! Loads of potatoes, perfectly done eggs and thick crispy bacon. My only complaint was that we had been sitting about 10 minutes before someone came to take our order. It happens. Will be back to try the burgers. read more

Mo's Grill, you didn't disappoint! I've only been here another time when I was in high school and that was a good 5-6 years ago. Every other time in between, I only pass by this place on my way to the gym, mesmerized by the beef patties and melting cheese on their rotating grill by the window. First things first, I came with my bf on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was packed! But still we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. I never realized they had breakfast too, mostly everyone got some sort of french toast fruit combo or eggs, bacon and potatoes. I got the California Burger (medium rare), it came with the regular burger fixings: tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, and onions. What made it a "California Burger" was the addition of avocado and Monterey Jack Cheese. For the side, I opted for a salad instead of fries. The portions alone at Mo's is HUGE. My side salad wasn't a side at all, it could have been an entire entree. The burger was also massive and hard to navigate. Ya know, you try to bite down on one side and the patty slides to the opposite side leaving you disappointed with a mouthful of just bread, veggies and mayo but no meat =[. I got it down in the end though. It was cooked to perfection and smothered with mayonnaise. The avocado came on the side so you can choose how much avo you want. I am usually weary of 'burger' restaurants because I always end up being disappointed, but not this time. The burger patties are made from freshly ground beef! Yes, they grind them right in from of you! I had the French hamburger, a burger patty stuffed with blue cheese, and topped with caramelized onions cooked over a charcoal grill - it was delicious. The fries? The fries were freshly cut, light and crispy - tasty. On top of the good food, the staff was friendly. I can't wait to try their breakfast. I will definitely return with my army of foodies! read more
