This restaurant was such s pleasant surprise for us. We loved the creative menu and asked for a special sauce on our pasta. The chef, James, actually came out to discuss what we wanted. We are 3 women anglers up in Redding to fish and have eaten 5 meals at Mosaic and each one has been delicious. First let me say the atmosphere here was amazing, the decor, lighting and everything reminded me of the restaurants I used to go to in LA. I highly recommend making a reservation for dinner otherwise the chances you will get a table in a decent time are pretty low. Having the reservation we got free Valet parking which was so great and got our table in about 10/15 mins. We had a wonderful server named Matt (man-bun on point) he was excellent was there when we needed something but never too much. We ordered the Polenta Board as a starter and wow was it delicious! Great flavors and great presentation. Mosaic Restaurant is arguably the most modern and attractive ambience setting in Redding and a great place to meet friends for a cocktail and small plates. Although the wine list, craft beer and spirits options are nothing to write home about, there is something to be said about the cocktail and bar area. It's so appealing and inviting. Accompanied by another, we had the opportunity to start in the cocktail area with a bottle of Pinot Noir and a plate of charcuterie followed by a effortless transition to the formal dining room. Throughout our time, we dined for nearly 3 hours and having directed the server to take their time with our entrees, led to a great progression between appetizer, another bottle of wine and our main course. We ordered the Marys Farm Chicken (sweet potato mash, roasted cauliflower Poblano Jus) and Orzo (Pomodoro Style, Grilled Chicken, Oyster Mushrooms, Picorino) and found our dishes to be rather bland and slightly overcooked. Is it possible the food was held too long under the food warmers? Overall, the experience was nice however the value is not there yet. Looking forward to trying Mosaic again soon. Kind of different, a little bit expensive, but overall good food, good experience, cool location! The one down side is every time I've been in there there has been long awkward periods of time waiting for a hostess to seat myself and others in line. We went on a date tonight for the first time in A LONG TIME! Our bar tender was incredible! Her whiskey sours were straight out of a Vegas night scene. Latte art on top and all ! She also was attentive and personable. I'm pretty sure her name was Alyssa. ALSO, Micheal, our busser was sooo sweet. He checked in on us several times. Made great menu suggestions and even upsold us on our drinks! I have been a long time fan of Mosaic but this last experience was extremely bad and uncalled for. It was Mother's Day and when I arrived I saw that they were doing a four course meal with no price on the menu. I speculated it was a lot and I also knew that I wasn't able to eat a four course meal so I asked the waiter that seated me if I could just order the French toast- he told me I could order it all a cart like that and I didn't have to do the four course meal. When my waitress came over I told her I only wanted the French toast, she then told me it was the same price whether I got the French toast by itself or the full course with it. I then asked her how much is the full course? She said "not that much". That's a very vague sentence and I should have pushed further but I guess I took her word for it... I guess you could say that was my mistake but I feel that no waiter should say that to somebody they should give them the dollar amount. Anyways needless to say the meals were good, however when I got my bill it was $90. I was astounded. I went back up to the man who seated me and said was it the same price for my French toast as it would've been for the entire full course? He said I'm not sure let me go ask your waitress...? Which I thought was strange since he's the one that told me that the French toast can be ordered alone. When my waitress came back I explain to her the situation and she said that she misunderstood me- she apologized and walked away. I got up and asked for a manager. Manager came over and was nice and offered 25% off my bill.. that still is a $67 tab. I was still pretty upset- it ruined my Mother's Day for sure.. I'd like to return there but I feel like it was a little sketchy being I was getting mixed answers and excuses. read more

One of my favorite places in the Redding area - From the first time I ate lunch there and enjoyed the shishito pepper appetizer to the most recent time still enjoying the shishito pepper appetizer. The food and drinks are consistent and good. The staff are very friendly yet sometimes there is noticeable lag between visits to the table - and not at busy times. I really like this place and am always excited to go so it's definitely a 4 star highly recommended location for a nice time and good dining. read more

We were here during the covet time. We ordered three dishes for dinner time and they are the ham and pineapple pizza, Korean short rib and kids meal chicken tenders and fries. I ordered BlackBerry mojito which was very refreshing and unique. The pizza was a bit disappointing as they are undercook. They make the dough and sauce in house and they were a lot of good reviews so I was sad and we sent it back for it to be cooked longer. The Korean short rib was tender but unfortunately the fingerling potatoes were not crispy enough nor does it have any sauce. The ribs even though it was tender it's pretty bland as the sauce was forgotten. they did give us the sauce on the side but it wasn't spicy as written on the menu with the Korean gochujang sauce. It's three stars for food but five stars for service and our general manager Melissa was very kind and receptive to our comment and suggestion. I would like to give them another chance next time and try the burgers. The location at Sheraton hotel was very nice. I wish they also open for lunch and breakfast. Stopped in for a bite to eat about 8:30PM ON 8/24/21 after a long drive. The restaurant is very clean and trendy, Our waiter Scott was great and when he found out we were tired he offered to pack our food up to go. Very thoughtful. I will say though it's very pricey, but I must say worth it. I really don't mind paying a premium for great food. The croutons on my Ceasar salad were the best I've ever had, the chicken added to salad was perfect. The scallops were the best we've ever had, and the coconut sauce so tasty, but you'll pay $24.00 for three of them. We would definitely come back. Not a bad place to have dinner if you're staying at the hotel next door or meet up for happy hour. I thought it was pretty cool how the staffs wore black and white checked button shirts which made it seem like they blended in with the crowd. Both nights that I was there the waitress were both attentive and outgoing. I ordered the scallops and a meat and cheese plate. The scallops were a bit cold but it tasted pretty good. I ordered a bloody mary in hopes that it would look like other pictures on Yelp but it didn't. It came with just an olive and celery. Beware the Chocolate pot de creme is quite warm so you might want to let it cool a few seconds before eating but it's extremely delicious so you might not be able to put your spoon down. My only complaint is the folks at the front desk, if they could greet customers and also smile that would be great. read more

We did a girls night on one of my recent visits to redding and ordered one pizza to split and had cocktails. It took over an hour to get the pizza. The server felt bad and came and offered complimentary toast sized pours of champagne which was super kind. Update: My saga with Mosaic continues even today. Please see my previous review for the background. About 1:30am the Sunday morning after eating here, I woke up with a terrible stomachache. I got up and projectile vomited up my dinner. I felt better and returned to bed. That Sunday evening around 6pm, I started to feel sick again. I ended up projectile vomiting again. This time I only felt better for about 20 minutes before getting sick again. I also got horrible diarrhea to accompany the vomiting. By 10pm, I had evacuated everything in my intestines and showed no signs of slowing. My husband took me to the emergency room, because I couldn't stop being sick, and none of our OTC medications were helping at all. I was released around 5:30am Monday morning after 2 IV bags of fluids, a CT scan of my abdomen, and a ton of anti-nausea medication. Turns out I had gastroentercolitis, from undercooked or dirty food. I asked if the timeline added up for it possibly being from Mosaic and was told yes, this typically happens within 24 hours. Undercooked meatballs would be an obvious choice. I'm still recovering from it - I just started eating solid foods again, 7 days later. So thank you, Kirk, for the offer to give me a second first impression, but I must decline. I don't see myself eating there ever again. And I know who is backing the Sheraton/Mosaic. They have more money than God and could keep that place open for ages after a similar restaurant without that financial patronage would go under. So I cede that point to you - it's probably "too big to fail." read more

I have been here a few times now for brunch, and this may be my new favorite brunch spot in Redding. It's obvious they buy quality eggs and know how to prepare them very well. Their breakfast burrito is a favorite of mine, and the hollandaise is the best I've had in the area. The Mosaic Mary (Bloody Mary) is spicy and complex, with delicious and unique pickled veggies for garnish. I am a lover of patios, and I am so excited that there's finally a place in Redding where I can have brunch and sit outside, let alone in a beautiful setting. I appreciate the landscaping care they have taken. I look forward to seeing how the trees lining the patio age and provide natural shade. Quality avocado as well. Mosaic Restaurant at the new Sheraton Grand Hotel at Turtle Bay. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. I hear if you come for dinner, you should make reservations. Since it was a beautiful day we asked to be seated outside, the seats out back were popular...guessing it had a beautiful view...and the wait time out there was about 30min wait since we were hungry we asked to be seated in front of the restaurant, which was still very nice and cozy. Inside was very impressive, I liked that you can go in shorts or jeans or go dressed up, and you will still fit in. Full bar...very nice!!! We had Bloody Marys...nice and spicy...bartender did a great job. Brunch menu looked ok and the prices were very reasonable. Service by Benjamin was right on. Very friendly, knowledgeable and well spoken. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito which was well made and didn't skimp on anything. It was fresh,moist and seasoned very well. If you are looking for a nice, fresh new place I highly recommend Mosaic's Restaurant. There's so much to do there: walk the Sun Dial Bridge or visit the Museum. I can only imagine as the year progresses...this will be a destination spot for sure. We'll be back..I can't wait to try out their dinner. read more

This place deserves more stars for the atmosphere and location but the restaurant has small portions, no consistency and is outrageously over priced. There were plenty of open tables on a Saturday before 6pm but it took over an hour for six of us to get our main dish from the time we ordered till served. The Brussels sprouts were very tasty and a better size serving than the main salad. We had two beat salads served on oversized plates. One was about a 3" serving with a tiny dry over cooked piece of salmon. The other salad was a a bit larger with a nice fresh salmon special on the side. Together the two salads could not have been a whole beat. The beef salad was a joke as the beef was incredibly small and overcooked to the point of hard and lost on a full plate of lettuce. One pasta dish was good and a fair portion but the duck and other dishes were simply mediocre, small and/or over cooked. Once the plates started to come out, two people were left without their plates for some time. We finally started and shared till the entire order came out and we were finishing the meals. The waiter was very quite and didn't seem to notice the delays but he was friendly. We all agreed that it's a beautiful restaurant and nice people but would never go back due to quality and $$$$. The menu including the wine list is overpriced for the quality. If you go for the atmosphere, stick to pizza and beer only as in recent past we're good. read more

Mosaic was very busy and we waited twenty minutes to be seated on a Monday evening. The host and bar staff were friendly and professional despite the unexpected crowd. The location was beautiful and atmosphere welcoming. My three star rating is based on service and my food selection. My specific gripes about the service include; not being offered bread, not being offered a second glass of wine, not having our salad plates cleared (we were seated at a small bar top making it unpleasant to converse between courses and for an awkward juggling act when our entree arrived), having to ask for utensils for our entree, fresh water refills were not provided. Overall poor service. Also, prior to ordering, I asked a question about the menu which stated under the pesto description (VEGETABLE), which I assumed meant the pesto came with a side of vegetables. Our server explained that this meant that it was a vegetarian dish. When I pointed out the all of the other vegetarian dishes were labeled such with a (veg) next to the item, our server abruptly stated, "It doesn't come with vegetables!" and walked away. I ordered the pesto anyway and found it to be dry and overly garlicky (as a garlic lover, this really says something). My husband ordered the swordfish with a side of farro. The first two times we went you could tell they were still working out the kinks (we went opening night) but since then we have always had great service, amazing food and yummy cocktails! Their new cocktail menu and wine list is definitely one of the best in town! We loved the food! It was delicious. We come here probably twice a month and this was our best meal yet. Dylan was our server again, and we really appreciated the time he spent listening to us and making suggestions. I wasn't sure if I should get my ribeye medium or medium rare, and Dylan recommended medium because it was cooked sous vide. It came out perfectly. The shishito peppers and the carpaccio were also excellent. Dylan was also very knowledgeable and suggested a Cabernet for us that we really enjoyed. We also observed Dylan taking the time to listen to the tables next to us and really creating a great dining atmosphere for all of us. The food was good. Had a vegan cauliflower steak. My son paid $460 for a dinner for 12 people. He wasn't asked for his drink order and had to ask the waitress for a drink after she brought everybody else's. I asked for extra toast so my grand daughter could soak up my olive oil and balsamic and was charged another $2.16. While I love the Wagu burger, I may have fallen in love with their breakfast burrito. We actually dined at mosaic from breakfast a few months ago, and tris was RIGHT after it opened. We had a little wait but not long, that could probably have been improved upon. As mentioned in other reviews the aesthetic of the place is really cool, very hip. All the servers were clean and friendly, the whole place was very clean. There is a list of a few things that probably could have used improvement (the wait being one) however, like I said, they had literally JUST opened and so I'm sure hey had lots of bugs to work out. As for the food- what we had was great- we had the French toast sticks which would have been real good but actually came out cold (probably an opening glitch) they were still good but would have been even better. Then we had an egg/sausage scramble thing which was REALLY good. I'd definitely go back and we will! Go and try it for yourself, if you're not sure whether to try it, it's definitely a safe/satisfying try but I'm sure you'll want to go back again! read more
