I agree with the previous review, Mosher's has terrible customer service. I have been there twice and the cashier (who also appears to be the owner as far as I can tell) should not be interfacing with humans. He personally, gets negative stars in the customer service department. Extremely unfriendly, like you are inconveniencing him to be giving him your business. Not cool. But they do get 3 stars for their delicious pastrami sandwich and coleslaw. The pastrami is thinly sliced and not too fatty. I order mine on a french roll because I don't like rye bread. My friend turned me on to topping the sandwich with the coleslaw they serve with it. It's superb! The coleslaw is a little sweet, just how I like it. With the pastrami and pickles and mustard it's de-lish! Moshers seems very disorganized. Though they have signs saying where you should order, everything seems very disorderly. They also have their cups sitting right next to the self serve soda machine so anyone could help themselves. Would it be that difficult to keep them behind the counter and hand them out with each order like every other fast food restaurant in America. I decided to try this spot again after visiting the other location these guys have on 7th. The first time around i wasn't too happy. Everyone who mentioned customer service is right. This place is horrible for that. The owner is...how can i put this nicely...a fuckin putz. He's never friendly, never remembers you, never does any one of the things that a smart owner would do. It's hard for me to believe that a guy in the restaurant business is that clueless as to how to sustain your place but this guy is. the setup sucks inside. the patio in the back is ok. the only thing that keeps me coming back is the pastrami. it's thinly sliced and tasty and the potato salad is pretty consistent too. if it wasn't for this i would have never come back but i'm telling you...it's pretty damn tasty. so i continue to cringe when i give this place my money about once every week and a half, but i gotta have my pastrami. read more

Umm ... no. Mosher's opened this spring in downtown Long Beach just outside of The Loop. It boasted a menu of burger joint and sandwich deli food. Yet nothing seems to work. Even Mosher's signature corned beef lacks the savory zing of the meat. The "fire dog", and the quote marks are appropriate, had no fire. The dog had no flavor, period, and at the least it should be salty. Nope. It was as flat as water. And it looked scary. It was a camouflage brown color, then a thin pink ring, then brown again. That's not right. Mosher's is trying new dishes, as it has a lot of paper-printed specials in addition to its painted menu. I'm sure that they are not worth trying, either. This would be the place for transit access, but 1-star establishments do not get them. read more

To throw in the word "Gourmet" in the name of your fast food joint is a huge stretch. I ordered a dbl cheeseburger, fries and a coke. The burger was bland, boring and nothing to write home about. The restaurant was fairly clean but they had Telemundo blasting in the background and I found it to be completely distracting from the conversation I was trying to have with my kids. I have been coming here now for four years. There's very limited street parking. But there's a parking garage right behind. And they do validate parking. They have indoor seating with plenty of TVs. I came in this morning for a juice. I was the only customer. The cashier was very friendly, she took my order and called it back to the kitchen. They seemed to snap to action and began making, what appeared to be, my juice. Instead of putting it in a to go cup, he poured it into a glass, popped a straw in and started drinking. I called back to the kitchen asking, "seriously?!?!" --explaining it was unacceptable that he would receive an order and then leisurely make his own drink instead. Friendly service and a wide variety of subs on the menu are the main reasons I would come back here. For about $12 I got the Italian club sub and a fountain drink. The sub was heated, delicious and served with cole slaw and a pickle. If you need to pick up some fresh food there is a small grocery area with fresh produce at the front of the store. Suitable seating can be found both indoors or on the patio area out front or out back. What stuck out to me the most was the friendly manner in which the guy behind the counter took our orders and checked up on us throughout our meal to make sure we were satisfied with our food. Ohh the rain. It makes me want to have some hearty soup. So I decided to try Mosher's because for one, it was walking distance from my work and second, my coworkers recommended the tomato basil soup. I also heard that their Chicago dog was good but I decided to stick with my original plan. I got the tomato basil soup and half a sandwich (corned beef) as a combo. Boy, they don't skimp on the soup. It could of fed two. Tomato basil soup was creamy and had bits of garlic. Basil was cooked with the soup which I didn't care for. I'm used to having fresh basil on top of the soup. My husband and I just got off of a cruise and had some time to spend before heading to the airport. We were hungry so we decided to find somewhere to eat. We saw Mosher's had some good reviews and it was a close walk from the pier. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and I can't tell you if I've ever had a better breakfast sandwich anywhere else. Had a grilled turkey and Swiss with jalapenos delivered to the office today. Was a little gun shy based on the reviews. Quick delivery. The jalapenos added a nice touch to the turkey. I'll have to remember that come Thanksgiving. I really liked their fries. I'd actually give it three and a half stars, just not quite four. Update: Methinks not! Called in a order for delivery today. They said they would be here in 20 minutes. After 45 minutes I decided to call. They said their credit card machine was not working. They didn't take, nor did they ask for my phone number to let me know. I said I could pay cash. He said the driver was on the road, and he would be here shortly. Once it arrived, come to find out they did run my card and the time on the receipt was 12:45, just after I had called in. So, basically, they lied about the driver being on the road if he came with the receipt. My burger and fries were cold. I could get over that with the fries, but I wasn't taking my chances on the mayo/thousand island on the burger. And the bun was like mush too. Won't be visiting here again. I came here on my lunch between work. Here is my advice: Don't not try their corn beef sandwiches as advertised outside. So I ended up picking the corn beef sandwich because I have never tried it before. Bad choice. I remember taking a bite and the meat tasted rotten/sour. I wasn't sure if it was bad meat or that was how corn beef tasted like. Only able to eat half it, I took the other half to go. About an hour later at work, I felt terrible. Walking from MetroRail to Catalina Express, the day after Thanksgiving, I spotted this deli with outside seating. As I wanted lunch and had a bit of time I gave them a try. I ordered their Ruben Sandwich with potato salad and sat out back on one of their delightful courtyard tables. The Ruben was the best I've ever had! I very generous portion of tender corned beef with great sauerkraut and dressing on perfectly toasted and buttered, light rye bread. I ordered chicken fried steak breakfast, carnitas sandwich with onion rings, and a blended fruit drink from Grub Hub but called the restaurant to see what was included in the chicken fried steak breakfast since it wasn't listed on Grub Hub. Was told they didn't have any gravy so I changed the chicken fried steak to a chorizo omlette with Spinach and avacado. I asked what was included in the omlette breakfast and was told English muffin. Home fries were extra. Really? You're making me pay extra for home fries in a breakfast meal I had to order because they didn't have the chicken fried steak breakfast that I originally ordered. Ok, so I wait about an hour for delivery (usual Grub Hub timeline for delivery) and when it finally comes I discover no jelly or jam for the English muffin, no ketchup for the home fries. My order was neatlly packed, delivery person was friendly, but the food was a major disappointment. I paid about $30 overall for delivery which included the extra charge for the home fries and a 15% tip. The carnitas was sooo salty I couldn't eat it or the thick bun that came with it. The onion rings were salty as well. The chorizo omlette was tasty but I'm not used to big solid chunks of chorizo in an omlette. And to top things off the blended fruit drink wasn't cold but more like slightly cool. Overall, it wasn't worth what I paid. Definitely will not be ordering again from here. read more

I've always liked this place, but it just a lot better! They added a healthy section! Now, they sell their regular menu and coffee, plus they offer all kinds of fruits and vegetables. They have green apples, red apples, bananas, mangos, pineapple, oranges, carrots, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, potatoes, tomatoes, cauliflower, mushrooms and others. They also started selling some dry food items like natural peanut butter, wheat and vegetable crackers, marinades and dressings, sugar and condiments. They added 5 new refrigerators where the large TV used to be and moved it to the window corner and they moved the small TV to the top corner above it. So, they just swapped TVs. I'm on a juice fast, so I stuck to coffee and hot water, but I also ordered some orange juice and it was fresh squeezed! Super yummy. Pretty decently standard food. I used to live in the West LA area and ate a lot of my Matzo Ball soup. Moving to Long Beach, well, it wasn't readily available as it was in the WLA area. So, I was pretty stoked when Mosher's opened up right below us..well, not RIGHT below us...we lived at 250 Ocean. I'd go whenever I needed a fixin of Matzo Ball Soup...which was decent enough to get me through my craving. We've brought some friends with us here, considering they were just downstairs, and their sandwiches are also pretty decent. Service was nice and attentive. This is my go-to lunch spot when I want to eat outside when it's sunny and away from the traffic noise. They have patio seating in the back courtyard next to a soothing water feature. Now to the food. Their menu has a nice variety of Americana food. Is it good? Yes, though it wavers between 3 or 4 stars depending on what you order. I usually get the turkey or fried chicken burger. Both are tasty and filling to me. My husband ordered the Philly-dilly and wasn't impressed. He liked the potato salad more. I like their condiments and toppings bar. There are two types of people in this world. One type that adds salt to their fries, and the other type that attempts to detoxify the overly salted fries by blowing hard on each individual fry and watching the salt granules fall into the purgatory we know as "loose change land" (i.e. somewhere between the driver's side seat and the shifter). That being said, I fall into the camp that favors removal of excess salt from french fries. This is why I like Mosher's and why I give it significantly more stars than the other reviewers. I don't like things that are overly salty. Being able to enjoy the food based on it's natural flavor is key. The warm corned beef sandwich had just the right amount of taste that allows any corned beef aficionado to flavor it appropriately with nothing more than a little mustard. It was warm, of the right moisture, and mmm mmm yummy. Perhaps cooking it with wood chips could add that extra zing to the flavor, but I'm really no BBQ expert. The only problem with this place is that it is a little pricey for the amount of food you get. I'll probably go back this week sometime and try the pastrami. read more

We usually order breakfast on the weekend at work, since they are down the street. It's usually very fresh until today I physically went down myself. I order a juice which is usually really good. I just grabbed a cesar salad from the fridge and muffin. Total $17. The salad was horrible, most of the lettuce was brown I was trying my best to eat around it, which was nearly impossible, all the greens where brown and the chicken had no flavor. The muffin tasted as it was in the fridge for days. I little took a few bites and threw away. I eat at Moshers every now and then, mostly out of my own laziness since it's downstairs from our apartment. I really wanted to love this place because it's part of our community and I love supporting the 'mom and pop' places. The food is OKAY at best mingled in with WTF am I eating. Sadly, yesterday did me in and I'm throwing in the towel. Below are the issues, I've had with Mosher's during the last 13 months. (I know it's a long review and you may not want to read it all but at least read #4) 1). Once I ordered the beef hot dog to go. I got back to my apartment, opened the box and was shocked to find a wrinkled shriveled up hot dog with partly melted cheese. I could have got a better hot dog at a convenience store and it would have looked gourmet in comparison to what was in front me. I tossed it. 2). Several months ago, I ordered breakfast to go. I got eggs, sausage, fruit and asked for a side of hash browns. Instead of hash browns, I got a side of grayish mush! Disgusting! But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again. I spoke with the older lady who worked behind the counter (who I haven't seen for a while) and asked if they make or if I could request hash browns, ones that are slightly crispy like I can get at most places. I explained I ordered this before and the issue I had. I was kind and courteous with my explanation. The woman delivered the food to the table with the side of hash browns and said, "Is this crispy enough for you," with an attitude. What I got again was a grayish side of mush.‍ 3). My husband and I went down there for dinner out of convenience since my foot was in a cast and ordered the slider special. When it was served, we both looked at each other like WTF! We were given three sliders. The meat looked like charred hamburger patty that was previously cooked then fried and cut in three, in between cut up hot dog buns. It was tasteless, dry and crunchy. Disgusting! Couldn't eat it. 4) Ordered the chicken fried steak to go yesterday, got home and took two bites. Something was off. I scraped off the gravy to discover I wasn't eating a breaded cutlet or breaded cubed steak, it was a hamburger patty that was breaded and fried. It was thick and dry! I know I shouldn't be shocked at this point. I went down there later and explained my disappointment to the young lady at the cash register and she gave a sympathetic look and said "Yeah, that's the way the owner makes them and I don't want to say anything to him about his food". WHAT!?! So I told her, no problem, I'll just place my dissatisfaction on Yelp. She said, "That's the best because he reads the reviews". On a positive note, I have not been disappointed by the turkey sandwich and the French Toast is good. To Guy, (The owner) Fooling your customers into thinking what they're eating is what they ordered or listed on the menu is shameful! The quality of the food is seriously lacking! I also think it's absurd to have to pay an additional $3.25 if I want french fries with a burger because the only sides you can choose is macaroni salad, potato salad or coleslaw, seriously! French fries and burgers go together like ketchup and mustard, rice and beans but yet you charge people extra for the things you know people would want together like a sandwich and chips, gotta pay extra for chips. I'm surprised you don't charge for ice! Also, the fruit cart for the juices look gross. I think the concept was nice but it wasn't executed properly. The fruit looks old and nasty. The front door is kept open most days because it's hot but flies are coming in buzzing about the fruit. It's unsanitary and unappetizing. I love a good juice, especially when it's fresh but I won't order it from here. I truly didn't want to write a bad review because despite all the horrible food I've had here and couldn't eat, I've still been hoping you guys could get your act together, hoping maybe it was a bad cook you hired. I wanted this place to be awesome because of it's location and convenience but I'm afraid I've now given up all hope. But at least most of your staff are nice. Although the cashier was nice, I was highly disappointed with the response I received last night. I know my review is harsh but it's what I've experienced and I truly wish you guys can make some substantial improvements.
