I went to Moshi Moshi for a Thursday night dinner, and I loved it for a sushi place that's fun without being too over the top. Their garden is small but cute with a good casual vibe. The rose sake was amazing and cute, not too strong and fun to drink. For sushi, I got the 3 rolls pictured, and they all were not expensive with high quality fish and toppings. My favorite was the spicy salmon and I recommend the plain rolls over the fancier ones. Overall for a cute casual sushi that's not too expensive and has a fun vibe, Moshi Moshi is the right choice and I would go back for sure. read more

Moshi Moshi is a very excellent restaurant. The setting is quite nice. I love sitting at the bar, but they also have a wonderful patio and a well let dining area as well. Sage makes the best cocktails. My girlfriend loves the skill he demonstrates in his craft. She always orders the blackberry yuzu soda with whiskey, and it is quite a delectable treat. The food keeps me coming back, and as a Bayview/Dogpatch local this is an extremely convenient place to get a great Japanese meal. I always order gyoza to start, cooked to perfection with a delicious sauce. We also love the Tokyo Kara-age salad, which is an amazing friend chicken salad with a fantastic dressing, and one of the vegetable sushi rolls. No complaints about the food! The beer and sake list is also respectable. The owner is super nice, he is frequently at the restaurant, so make sure to say hello if you see him. Service is usually amazing depending on your server for the night. Sage, Kaden, Julian and Phil are the best! I'm here every week! read more

Visited with a friend last week and had a terrific meal at Moshi Moshi. The fried sweet corn was on the menu - great appetizer! We tried a couple rolls and the tempura dinner (shrimp and Veggies) came with a salad and steamed rice. We ordered too much however everything was fantastic. I'll be back soon for sure! I want to like Moshi Moshi. It's sushi, near UCSF, and has a nice ambiance. The waiters are hipster and overall nice. I usually just order pick up but have occasionally dined in. The sushi is good, but just so small for the price. I've always left here hungry, which says a lot for my tiny appetite. There was some type of miscommunication and we didn't realize how much we were being charged for certain drinks, so our bill turned out to be way more than expected. I'm glad they honored what we had thought our original price was, but I wish we could've avoided the whole thing if they warned us while we were ordering. Pleasantly surprised! We live right down the road so access is just a short walk to and from home. We ordered spicy poke, chicken katsu don buri, and the two item special that consisted of chicken karagae and California roll. The poke was good but it was such a small portion for $9. It was served over a bed of seaweed salad and it didn't take us long to devour it. My donburi was very good. I think the first time I've ever had it. It was like an omelette chicken katsu served over a bed of rice and onions and all kinds of good stuff mixed in the bowl. My bf got the two item special and I thought it was just ok. Tasted kind of bland and not much flavor. But I'm reviewing my dish not his! The California roll was also good. Both dishes came with miso soup but our waiter forgot the spoons but no big deal. Overall better than what I expected and that's always a plus. Will be coming back here again! read more

Great spot in Dogpatch for some Japanese food. Food was decent BUT... best part is their Japanese Whiskey selection. I have yet to find a place with a better assortment at prices that are extremeley fair. Moshi Moshi is a great little neighborhood sushi spot. Came here with a friend and sat our on their patio which was super cute and had heat lamps, so it didn't get too cold. The servers were friendly and checked in with us throughout the whole time. My friend and I ordered gyoza, shishito peppers, and four different rolls and we enjoyed everything. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. It's a bit far from me, but if I lived locally I would definitely frequent this place. Parking can be a bit difficult. There is street parking, but some spots limit you to an hour. There's a lot about a block and a half away that's free after 6:00pm. You can make a reservation on resy. I came here on a Monday night and there was definitely a good flow of people but never got too busy. Highly recommend the patio area if you're a little nervous to eat indoors still (like me). Definitely could be a great spot for a date night or out with some friends. read more

Ordered lots of dishes for carry-out and everything was delicious! Tempura was perfectly crispy and all of the fish was super fresh and flavorful. I recommend the Nishiki gyoza! Note the bacon wrapped mocha is spicy and one order =one bite. Really cool that you can choose your edamame topping - I got the yuzu which was subtle so I was able to taste the flavor of the soy beans. Ordering through Toast is really easy - the service will text you when your good is ready for pick up. read more

The food was ok. Not the best sushi ever. The real problem was the service. There were 3 of us. They brought one noodle dish out that one of us ordered. And she was done eating it before one of the sushi dishes arrived about 15 minutes later. And finally about 10 minutes later the third sushi dish arrived. I ate lunch with a group of friends, and our experience was mixed. Good: fast service, cozy lunch atmosphere, 'most' of the food was very good. Bad: There was mold/dust on the tomato in one of our salads. The waiter took the tomato, looked at it, and walked away. Then a manager came up and said "we just got the tomatoes in today...it could be from the avocados," which made things worse considering we're eating raw fish at this place. They reluctantly asked if we wanted another dish. We had to leave, so we said "no, but please make sure this doesn't happen to another customer." They still charged us for he salad and didn't really apologize or anything. Unprofessional for a restaurant that could otherwise be a great spot. After long day at the children ER, I thought coming would be a good choice, because I used to love coming here with my friend 8years ago. I loved their atmosphere; the lighting and relaxing music with excellent service. However the service I got this evening completely ruined my experience here. Our waitress gave me the impression that she was racist or hostile toward me which I have done nothing to deserve that attitude and unfriendly face. (Even with her unfriendly face, I was still being polite like I always am with all service staffs.) My two toddlers and I were the only Asian here and as soon as she came to our table, she face expression said it all, she did not want to look at me or gave me hard time ordering my food. After our food and drinks came, not once could I got her attention to get forks and water. She walked passed us and pretent to be busy, there were only 3 other tables, while I tried to get her attention. It was always the other waiters came to our table. She came by the next table and asked how was everything, but not ours. After long day at the ER with my kids, I did not want to deal with this ugly attitude and could not eat my food to give rating on it. But my bill came out to be $118 on 3rolls, a chicken teriyaki, and a Tokyo Kara. This is much overpriced than good Japanese owned restaurants I have been to. So yes one star and I definitely not coming back. read more

Timing couldn't have been any less perfect. My friend happened to crave sushi at Moshi Moshi mid-way of our ride. We were heading to dog-patch and the driver happened to stop at the stop sign next to the restaurant so we politely asked to get off there. The owner is this cute happy old man who makes his rounds saying hi to everyone. I got the Ahi Tuna Bento. It was fresh and delicious. No complaints. This is my go to lunch spot around Dogpatch when I'm craving something other than sandwiches and pizza. Food 3/5 I have to be honest but the sushi here is honestly just alright. The fish is fresh enough but ( especially for how much they're charging you) it's not exactly nice SF sushi quality. The other Japanese dishes are done pretty well, but it feels like they're lacking just a bit. For example we got the chicken teriyaki and it was good except for the fact that it was drenched in sauce. Our zaru soba was refreshing but the sauce was lacking in flavor. Service 3/5 I usually don't mark down for service but this place is sloooowww. I definitely feel like the staff is new and still working on the kinks but I hope that it gets better as time goes on. Drinks 5/5 This is the redeeming star for this spot. If you're a Japanese whiskey fan ( or any type of whiskey fan really ) you have to make a trip to this place for really reasonably priced whiskey flights. At the end of the day, I'll still stop by here for my lunches but if you're coming out of your way for the food, I would say it's not worth it. I feel so happy to have discovered this place recently! During SIP / quarantine, they take carryout orders via the Toast app, which is super easy to set up and use. The menu is said to be limited but it's still expansive - lots of apps, rolls, nigiri / sashimi, and alcoholic beverages to choose from. They give you a call when your order is ready and you pick up at the door - super efficient and quick! This is the best sushi I've had in the Bay Area, and might be the best sushi I've had EVER (though I've never been to Japan nor have I tried the $$$$ sushi places). it's the first time I've felt the experience of sashimi "melting" in my mouth, as I've heard others describe often in the past. Overall, everything I've tried has been super good quality - my favorites so far are: ahi tuna katsu, grilled asparagus, spicy salmon roll, and saba sashimi / nigiri. This place has good food but the reason why I nocked it down to 3 stars is because, it look them 10 minutes to greet us at the front. We had multiple staff members give us eye contact yet they walked passed us multiple times. We finally were seated and the waiter was teasing us for only ordering water and kept egging us to order drinks... This is not cool. We ordered Garlic Edamame (recommend, was great) Wings (don't recommend, no flavor and smelled burnt), Osaka Sunset (really good) and Haleakala Maki (it was good). The sushi rolls were a bit on the pricy end in my opinion. The two roles we got were $17 and $18. I probably won't stop by again since there's so many great sushi options in the Bay Area but if you're in the area, worth checking out. read more

I had no expectations walking in to this sushi restaurant smack in the middle of Dogpatch, which does not have any other sushi restaurant. Love the name, but the food is just meh, not bad but not the best sushi I've had. I think the owners care more about the vibe - the well-kept bar was noticeable from the moment we walked in. We ordered karaage, beef teriyaki and a few rolls. The karaage was by far the best out of the dishes we ordered - FRIED CHICKEN ftw! The rolls tasted fresh but just seemed to be filled with a lot of sauce; i could barely taste the fish. The sushi rice also seemed a little moist than normal. Glad I tried this restaurant but not sure I would come here again unless I'm craving sushi and just happen to be in the area - a few other places in Portrero HIll may be better alternatives. I have nothing to complain about the service though, just wish I were wow-ed by the food. Other yelpers seem to enjoy the lunches here/bento box, so I'm down to come again to try that. read more

Such a great find! It looks very unassuming and small from the outside and then you walk in and see that there is so much more space inside plus there is a little patio area! I was very impressed before I sat down. I went for lunch so I mainly stayed on the lunch specials portion of the menu. Those prices were very reasonable for the portion size you get. It was all around $10-12 for a rice bowl and we got miso soup to start of the meal too. I got the ahi bowl. The ahi tuna was seared perfectly and I liked the subtle flavors of the dipping sauce. I loved the salad dressing. A little tangy and very bright and refreshing. We also tried the trumpet mushroom tempura. I've recently been loving trumpet mushrooms and was very excited to see them on the menu. They were great. I would have toned down the amount of salt season after cooking but it was still great. I'm definitely planning on coming back. My family wants to try doing an omakase here which they said they can do definitely on who is running the bar and how busy they are. read more
