I've been wanting to try this coffee/pastry spot out for a while now. Luckily for me, a new location opened closer to me. It did not disappoint! I went about 1:30 on a Monday and there were a few patrons there. I was quickly served with a smile. I ordered a hot brown sugar chai latte and pistachio tres leches. Both were AMAZING! The tres leches was one of my favorite flavors - pistachio. If you don't like "soggy" then I wouldn't opt for this pastry. But if you know and love tres leches, then you MUST try this one! My latte was so delicious! Perfect for a Fall afternoon - spicey and just the right amount of sweet. The shop is beautiful - minimal decor and very clean.

Strawberry Matcha waiting for their owners

Grand opening day and the line was out the door even at 1:00. The last time be did nit surprise me since they are offering any small drink for $1 The one moved quickly and in no time it was my turn to order. The cashier was personable and when I asked if I could have a reward card willingly gave me one although he didn't have a hole punch yet. He put a pen through the card to mark it for me which was very nice. I got the Strawberry Matcha which when mine was ready I realized was quite popular for the day as there were five others awaiting to be picked up besides mine! I didn't get a pastry, but they have a variety of different types to try in the future. The Matcha was delicious! Not too sweet. Very busy inside today, but not loud. I liked the various sorts of lighting!

vanilla matcha - 5/10 pistachio latte - 10/10 green tea blue raspberry refresher - 10/10 review yayy another motw location!! my tried and trusted order is their pistachio latte so this time i got one iced. their coffee is very aromatic and delicious and the pistachio cream adds such a rich velvety texture to the beverage. truly a delicious treat i WILL be back for i also tried their matcha today but it was unfortunately a miss for me but definitely one of the better ones in the indy area! it (just barely) passed the color test but i just wish their matcha powder was a little higher in quality. the water to matcha ratio was a little off for my liking so i will be sticking to their coffees and refreshers my brother got the refresher and true to its name it was very refreshing :D it almost tasted like jolly ranchers! i went to their grand opening and had a really great time! shoutout to Omar for taking the time to greet us and give us a little backstory of the cafe franchise. i can definitely see this spot becoming a staple in the community so i'm glad to see it be so successful on their first official day. you might catch me working remotely here in the near future!

My kids and I came to the grand opening and enjoyed every bit of our visit. Staff were friendly, helpful, and we learned about the philanthropic contributions of the MOTW company. The rich flavors of everything from a simple traditional chai, cinnamon vanilla kid's steamed milk, to a mango pastry and lemon glazed muffins, we loved it all! We recommend making this cafe a part of your regular stops in Avon. We noticed they had empanadas, so we'll be back to try those soon. Hope to see you all there!

Fruit patrries and hibiscus coconut refresher

I went on my first spring break trip with my sister, and it was such an unforgettable experience. Everything about it felt so special. From the atmosphere to the time we got to spend together. I tried the coconut hibiscus drinks, which were absolutely amazing, and the viral fruit pastries were just as delicious. It's such a perfect spot for both family and friends, and the service was incredibly kind and welcoming. I'd definitely go back in a heartbeat.

It was the perfect way to kick off some warm weather and I highly recommend stopping in and trying one of their MANY delicious flavors of ice cream, sundaes, esquites, or mangonadas.

Danny's has a great selection of flavors to choose from as far as ice cream. I sampled the Honeycomb and OMG!!!! It melted in my mouth. I tried the Cheeto Equite and to my surprise, it wasn't as spicy as I was thinking it would be. It's served warm. Personally, not my favorite because hot Cheetos is not my thing, but I can say that I've tried it. Now, the Churro Sundae is more of my thing. The churros are not made in-house. I opted for vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I would have like a few more pieces of churros, layered throughout, but it didn't take away from my liking. I'd get it again on another visit. Danny's is a clean, well kept ice cream shop with good service. He's tucked away in a plaza; sitting off Rockville Road. But once you step inside, you'll be in a little bit of ice cream heaven.

I've joked about the donut wars going on in Avon, Indiana as my life has taken me through Hendricks…read moreand Putnam counties quite a bit lately. Avon has at least four donut shops within 1-2 miles of each other - Parlor, Dunkin, Pana, and Carl's. Of these, Carl's is clearly the "local" shop. It has the look and feel of a gathering place. While the others do offer sit-down dining, especially Parlor, Carl's feels like a smalltown donut joint with its simple but pleasant decor, lower pricing, and comfortable but pleasing service. Carl's Donuts & Bakery is a locally owned donut shop (Pana is also locally owned, though a growing chain). Carl's also doubles as a cafe and also serves other breakfast items alongside its donuts. The major plus to this approach for a guy like me is that fountain drinks are available including iced tea. I'm constantly dismayed how hard it is to get iced tea in donut shops. I was dismayed to read Jen F's review noting poor customer service as my experience was quite the opposite with customer service being a key strength. The basics: Carl's is located in what looks like a small office complex with a mix of retail and personal service type businesses. It's toward the back. There's some accessible parking and appropriate curb cuts. There's a double entry with glass doors that were pretty easy to manage. As you enter, a dining area is directly to the front of you and to the right side. To the left is the ordering area - I think I goofed up at entry - you begin toward the back and then exit out the front path. I went in through the front, though there wasn't a line and no one said anything. The employees asked if I was ordering breakfast or donuts. I typically get 2-3 donuts and a drink. I stuck with this plan, however, given the comfy atmosphere opted to dine in. I haven't had much time to rest recently and it was nice to sit down. I felt a little out of place (everyone else was clearly local), though everyone was friendly. I ordered chocolate covered yeast donuts and a fountain unsweetened iced tea. They offer discounts, it seems to military, teachers, and first responders. The donuts had a slightly thicker yeast than some that lean toward fluffy. These were more substantial. The chocolate reminded me of Titus Bakery. The iced tea was great - no clue on brand. I could have stuck with two donuts instead of three and been satisfied. The service was a top feature here for me. They were friendly, helpful, and patient as I figured things out. I watched them easily serve a group of senior males gathering in one corner (pouring coffee, etc.). Carl's does not have a drive-thru. Their Facebook indicates they offer curbside pick-up. In future visits, I'd likely experiment with donuts. This particular chocolate is not a favorite for me. I enjoyed it, but I'd easily experiment. There's no doubt I'd return for the service. At a time when I've recently lost my last family member, it was nice to be in a comfortable, welcoming, and warm environment. It did my spirit good. I would also love to return to enjoy a meal here. Carl's wasn't packed, but it was steady throughout my visit and it's clear that Avon loves its donuts and it loves its smalltown gathering spaces.

There was a line of people waiting patiently to select their donuts when we walked in. There were many cases filled with fresh donuts, fritters, danish, turnovers and more. Two clerk were assisting customers, most of whom were buying several dozen donuts. I got a glazed donut and my husband got an apple fritter. The fritter was bigger than his head. My glazed donut was a cake donut. It was light with a perfect glaze. The apple fritter was like a coffee cake with lots of apples and a glazed topping. He shared the fritter with our granddaughters. There was plenty to go around. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have daily meal specials. The lady in line ahead of us said the pork tenderloin is the best in town. Pork tenderloin is only served Monday-Thursday. We'll have to come back. They have about 20 tables for eat-in dining. There is a unisex restroom. Stop #4 of the donut trail will require a return visit.

Rise n' Roll was founded in Middlebury, Indiana by an Amish family as an offshoot of the family's selling of donuts from the porch of their Shipshewana home. Established a Rise n' Roll in 2004, it stayed relatively small for years. The original bakery didn't use electricity, refrigeration, or modern tech. Everything was by hand. In 2009, the Amish owner sold the company to a non-Amish family. It was moved to a larger facility - the original owner stayed employed by the company and the small bakery began to expand including franchising. In recent years, the Central Indiana presence has grown. Rise n' Roll offers donuts, pastries, Amish goods, deli, and other items. While I was sad to see Rise n' Roll leave their Broad Ripple spot, truthfully I tend to resonate more with its simpler locations (there's now a smaller shop in Nora). This spot in Avon reminds me of Nora. I believe the Indiana-based chain has 16 locations statewide. I'm a definite fan of the chain and have never had a bad experience at any location in terms of product or people. I primarily stick to donuts when coming here, however, I'll occasionally deviate. While I'd say that Rise n' Roll is decked out a bit nicer than Carl's, I felt a similar vibe here. In a town that has multiple options, it's really important to distinguish yourself and Rise n' Roll does that nicely. The cinnamon caramel donut is perhaps its most widely known and beloved option, however, I'm a fan of chocolate frosted (yeast or cake). Donut offerings can vary between locations. Employees here are friendly. The strip center has accessible parking with appropriate curb cuts. The single glass door was pretty manageable. I get the sense they'd easily help if help was needed, though it's obvious that most folks with disabilities prefer independence. Overall, I'd easily claim Rise n' Roll as one of my Avon favorites. I won't dare rank the five, though a quick read of my reviews would likely make it obvious. For a more natural option in a pleasing, welcoming setting it doesn't get much better than Rise n' Roll.

However, I was feeling a bit nostalgic during this past weekend's trip to Putnam County and decided to stop and really check this retail strip out. I spied The Fudge kettle and knew I had to stop. The Fudge Kettle was started in 2020 - what a time to start a new business, eh? Despite the challenges, it thrived in a different location before locating to this spot in 2023. This is a former Jack's Donuts and it reportedly offered The Fudge Kettle about twice the size of its previous spot along with a variety of other perks. In case the name isn't obvious, The Fudge Kettle specializes in candy, fudge, local crafts, and a variety of other products. Despite being an older strip center, accessibility is pretty strong here with ample parking and curb cuts. The double-sided glass doors are pretty manageable. I found the interior to be nicely designed. I'm a fan of fudge and definitely had to try the fudge while here. Absolutely a delight. You can also get chocolates, freeze-dried candies, and some national brands like Pez, Necco Wafers, Buns, Boston Baked Beans, Rock Candy, Candy Cigarettes (Yes, I'm old enough to also remember when candy cigarettes were considered cool), and more. Local crafts include candles, keychains, t-shirts, wreaths and more. I'm a huge candle fan and I definitely prefer supporting local. So, this is a great find. I will note that new owners took over - I believe in 2023. It seems like there's some shifting going on and the website indicates that new products are coming soon. However, I liked what I saw here and the employee I dealt with was friendly and helpful. I found the prices to be fair, the quality to be amazing, and this just feels like a really welcoming spot. This shopping strip is a little more off the road than most. You really have to look to see The Fudge Kettle, however, it's definitely worth looking for and making a quick stop. Will I return? Absolutely.
