Moulin is a really nice cafe and patisserie in Newport, near John Wayne airport. The desserts look stunning and they're tasty. They have a tempting assortment of fresh breads, baguettes, sandwiches, and cheeses. I also like that they have a boulangerie (bread bakery) and bistro in the same plaza. The bistro a few spaces down has some excellent dinner options, but that's technically a different restaurant. I like to come here when I want to select from a broad assortment of French pastries; however it's not my top choice for any specific thing. But it's really nice to come in on a morning for jambon and cheese on a fresh baguette. On this morning, I was able to drink a coffee and eat a salted caramel macaron, while watching a World Cup soccer match. They do everything really nicely, and Moulin is a great place to get a really beautiful dessert that can be a centerpiece on any table

The ham and cheese sandwich was good but very salty and greasy. I don't think I will try it again but that's because I have recently been more sensitive to salt. The coffee in the cup was delicious and great because I love enjoying coffee in a real cup not in paper cups. Their croissant is delicious and my friend said they make things the way real French do. He travels a lot so I believe him. The place was very clean and crowded when I got there. Recommended

Another wonderful day at Moulin. The closest thing to Europe in Newport Beach. Grab a pastry and a coffee and sit in the sun and listen to the fountain. Have a nice talk with a friend. I just love the place. Time to slow down and relax. This is the place. I recommend it with five stars.

I had been craving a croque madame and I was blown away by this spot! Their prepared food looked amazing and the whole room was filled with wonderful aromas. We decided on eating breakfast there and taking some pastries to go! The outdoor seating was nice and we were able to get our food within 10 minutes of ordering which was amazing. Their staff were very friendly to use since it was our first time and even gave us some recommendations on what to try. I'm looking forward to going back again very soon!

Everytime I am near by I always try and stop for some viennoiserie and pâtisserie. Love their almond croissants and other breakfast pastries. Their desserts are also decadent and worth trying. The Paris-Brest and Opera are yummy. Friendly staff and helpful. Located in a strip mall on Bristol, the space is on the bland side, though not sure there is much you can do to enhance it.

Moulin provided it all ~ a spectacular French brunch, strong and smooth lattes, phenomenal service, and the cutest, most inviting atmosphere. I'm looking forward to returning (to this location or one of their others) to check out more of the menu, and take home some French cheese and pate!

Usually go here for lunch 1-2 times a week and grab something from the hot bar selections. Their chicken is solid if you're looking for something healthy. Veggies are also good as well as some of the hot sides. Panini sandwiches are pretty good also. Vibes are amazing and get's pretty busy during peak lunch time. Staff are friendly and service is pretty quick. I'm not personally into pastries so much but have tried bits and pieces here and there, all great as well as their coffees. Plenty of French stuff including imported butter that they sell in the store as well. Recommended and will keep coming back!

I've tried multiple pastries from here and decided to pick up a birthday cake here for my husband! SO GLAD I DID On their website, they have a lovely little guide that gives you all the details along with illustrations of the cakes as there are a ton of layers. There were so many great options, but I opted for the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake (chocolate sponge, hazelnut praline crunchy, chocolate cremeux, candied hazelnuts, milk chocolate mousse, milk chocolate glaze). THIS CAKE WAS PERFECTION I called two days ahead to order and ended up speaking with the manager (I believe her name is Katia) and she was so friendly and kind! I picked a cake, added a chocolate plaque, and paid by phone. Nice and easy! The day of, the cake was ready to go. I was in and out of there in a minute and the workers were so kind. It was also Halloween and they even complimented my costume haha The cake was GORGEOUS! OMG When I pulled it out of the box, everyone said wooooow THE CAKE WAS AMAZING!! The layers! I ate it layer by layer just to try and understand how all the flavors came together. It was truly a beautifully created cake. Not only did they think of how the flavors complimented one another, but they also considered textures. Loved the crunchy elements along with the silky mousse. One of the best cakes I've ever had!

Remember my first MOULIN review when I said I'd be back? Yeah... I've been back at least ten times, (yes 10X in less than 3 weeks) and dragged half my girlfriends with me because I'm fully obsessed. The food? Unreal. Delicioso! The service? Richard deserves a medal for being consistently kind, efficient, and on it. When a restaurant's staff call you by your first name, and can accurately guess your favorite foods, I'd say KUDOS to the Owner for training them well. The ambience? I love the energy here. It's addicting. And don't start with me gawking at their desserts and pastries. I told myself I'd lose all the holiday weight I've gained but for some reason 'logic' flies out the window the moment I step in there. DUH. And listen... I almost don't want to admit how OBSESSED I am with their Smoked Salmon Sandwich, because every time I show up it's either close to being gone or there's one sad little survivor left. My heart dropped so hard the other day (when I saw the one last Salmon sandwich) you'd think I'd just locked eyes with a starving French bulldog.

Food was excellent as always and service is stellar for a non-full service restaurant. The only wonky thing is that the food items in the case are served cold. May not sound that odd but when it's Cod and Potatoes au Gratin, it's unexpected. We also went with the La Galette Complète this time. Unique to us and it did not disappoint. Coming back tomorrow just to pick up pastries for a party.

Overall great experience - I suppose it's hard to be unhappy in this cool of a place. I went in for the parties but they've got a whole experience built out in there with full service, cases for pre prepared foods, and cases for French products. Staff was great and will be returning to try more.

The setup feels like an authentic French place - to-order restaurant items, a bakery, a deli section, and small market items. The meal food was good, but I'd say on the lighter/blander side. Their pastries are the star of the show for me. Would definitely come back specifically for the saint honore, and fruit mousse cake which had passionfruit notes. Really enjoyed the extensive patio seating.

    Rachel N.

Delicious pastries and the coziest ambience! Their almond croissants and pain au chocolat are perfectly flaky and I love how the bakery section gives you the option of purchasing full size or mini size pastries. Their takeout sandwiches are also great (especially enjoyed the jambon fromage, chicken pesto, and bayonnais!) and the crepes look amazing as well. Will definitely revisit to try more of their coffee and entree items!

I actually tried another nearby place first, only to discover it was closed for renovations--and I am SO glad it was, because otherwise I might never have found Long Black. I ended up coming here three times. No regrets. My first visit, I ordered the Biscoff cookie coffee and a spam, egg & cheese croissant. The coffee was delicious and, surprisingly, not overly sweet at all. You could still really taste the quality of the coffee underneath the flavor. And the spam, egg & cheese croissant? LIFE-CHANGING. Seriously. The next day I came back and tried their popular hazelnut Einspänner. I was not prepared for how thick the cream layer on top would be at first, but I let it sit for a bit while I drove to the office and allowed the cream to melt into the coffee a little. AMAZING. I love hazelnut, and this was so good. Naturally, I had to come back one more time before leaving and tried the banana cloud coffee. Again: fantastic. What impressed me most across all three drinks was the balance. Their flavored coffees aren't "sugar with some coffee." You taste the COFFEE first, then the rich cream and flavor, and then just enough sweetness. That's really hard to do well, and they absolutely nail it. I also tried an almond croissant, which was very good--and I say that as an almond-croissant heat-seeking missile who will find every great almond croissant within striking distance. They told me they bake their pastries in-house that morning, and you can tell. I eventually brought my sister with me, and she loved it too, including her regular croissant. Beyond the food and drinks, I loved watching the staff work. Everyone seemed genuinely dedicated to what they were doing and to the craft of making really good coffee. I came here because another coffee shop was closed. I came back twice because Long Black was THAT good. This will absolutely be my coffee stop anytime I'm on this side of town again.

There's plenty of parking next door, and while there is no seating outside, there's plenty indoors. It's a really minimal shop, but they have some cool furniture if you want to hang out and play some board games. Service was friendly and fast, especially since the line never let up the entire time I was there. On the food & drinks front, I ordered a ham/cheese/jalapeño croissant, an almond croissant, the Pistachio Cream Latte (w/ almond milk), the Maple Pumpkin Pie Latte (w/ oat milk), and the Orange Bourbon Cardamom latte (w/ oat milk). Everything was great, I especially enjoyed the ham/cheese croissant m, OBC latte (the orange and cardamom really stand out in this and compliment each other well), and the Pistachio Cream latte (if you like pistachio ice cream you'll love this). Their seasonal MPP latte was good, but I didn't get as much pumpkin in it as I would've liked (still a good drink). This is a great coffee shop that makes unique drinks that I really enjoyed. I definitely plan to come back to try some of their other drinks, and would recommend paying them a visit if you're in the area.

For the drinks, we got an iced toffee latte and the kepania, which is their version of a spanish latte. I liked the toffee latte more cause it had bits of toffee in it but I also liked the spanish latte as it tasted lighter than the toffee latte. It gave the drinks more of a balance when I started taking sips from both of them. I do really like how the top layer of the lattes were blue, which gives off a great aesthetic. The only downside for me was that the toffee latte lost a good amount of its flavor after some of the ice melted-- some cafes still have a strong coffee taste even after the ice melts & that's usually what I like as far as preference. As for the sunbliss blend smoothie, it definitely had that taste of the 100% real fruit in it and was a refreshing drink to sip on when I walked at the beach. Despite being relatively close to two major colleges - OCC and UCI - this place wasn't as crowded as you'd imagine it would be. They serve coffee, matcha, breakfast foods like breakfast burritos, protein bowls, avocado toasts - but I didn't pick anything to eat since I already had lunch. I shared with the barista that it was my first time here, and he asked what type of drink I was looking for. I told him something iced and caffeinated - and he mentioned his favorite was the Honey Cinnamon Latte - which I opted for - iced, with oat milk. Total was $8.50 including tip. My iced Honey Cinnamon Latte was yummy, creamy, and fantastic! With the oat milk substitute, it sorta tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in liquid coffee form. It wasn't overly sweet, definitely had a nice kick to it - love this recommendation by the barista! I checked out the rest of the space and used their restroom to wash my hands - it's really a neat space here. Lots of seating. Lots of space. There's an adjacent room that's connected to the cafe called "Flow Space" - which is utilized for small popups and arts & crafts. Neat spot for smaller community members to showcase their wares. Some of the other reviews mentioned no a/c - which had me worried considering we were having a bit of a heatwave lately - but to my pleasant surprise, A/C was on and cold! It was a great escape from the heat. Free wifi - fast enough for a zoom call if you need to hop into one - my speedtest reported download speeds of 17.5MB/s Restroom is clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking - of course, I stopped by a little after 2pm, so already avoiding the tail end of the lunch rush. Only downside is they close kinda early - 4pm - but open up at 7am. Great spot! Will probably be my go-to considering there's ample workspace, plenty of parking, less crowded than other coffee spots in the immediate area. I'm curious to try their matcha the next time I'm here, as well as possibly their breakfast burritos, since photos for that looks delicious.
