Is it expensive? Duh! You're in a ski resort town. Is it worth it? Definitely! We ordered two special roles, some sashimi, and some nigiri. Their special dragon roll of the day was amazing, and the rainbow roll was one of the best I've ever had. Very fresh fish! I highly recommend mountain flying fish. Waiting staffs awesome, very accommodating and very attentive; however 4 stars for the service because when we went it was a full house, I have to drink my friends water because they are so busy to fill it up. 4 stars for the rolls because it was loosely packed at the slightest pressure of the chopstick the rolls came undone, and the rolls are not that impressive in my opinion, taking into account of taste (3.5 stars, rolls only) and presentation ( 4 stars). 5 stars for the atmosphere and the food ( carpaccio and sashimi). We LOVED this place. Some of the freshest fish we have ever had. We did the special Dragon, spicy scallop hand rolls, yellow tail (best I've ever had), salmon, and the Sashimi platter. It was all delicious and the service was wonderful. Yes the prices might scare some but we spent $75 for 3 terrible tasting meals on the hill, so I guess that put it into perspective for us. This Japanese restaurant is an amazing find in Breckenridge. I wouldn't be disappointed with the quality of the food in New York. The Sashimi was perfect, it was nice to find Kanpachi (Hamachi) and Uni up in the mountains. The Monk fish liver pate was another pleasant surprise. The nabayeki udon had copious amounts of chicken in it, superb tempura but lacked the traditional egg and fish cakes. All in all this was a really great find. read more

Living in Breckenridge we don't go out to dinner very often, but when we do 9 times out of 10 it's at Mountain Flying Fish. If you take any time to taste your food you'll notice the fish that they get in is fresh and held to the highest standards. This is not your average Japanese Restaurant and neither is the sushi. Tetsuo, his staff and the food are all exceptional. When we have friends in town we bring them here and even the ones that have eaten sushi all over the world (including Japan) are blown away with the quality of the fish and the presentation. So lucky to have this hidden gem in our mountain town. Can't wait to go back again soon! read more

Probably one of the best sushi I've ever had and I'm from Northern Virginia. The salmon was so soft and fresh that it melted as soon as I took a bite. This is one of our favorite spots in Breckenridge. Sushi is consistently fresh and tasty here. The prices aren't bad for Colorado either.

The taste was pretty good (but not spectacular) and the sushi that someone else ordered was reputedly good. The curry entree though was mostly a bowl of sauce and rice with little bits of meat I had to dig around to find. A teriyaki entree another person ordered was just strips of meat and some teriyaki sauce. Again it all tasted good, but felt the prices were about double what they should have been for what you got. And I'm from DC, so it's not that I have a phobia of high prices, I just expect more for them. read more

After seeing the reviews my husband and I were excited to try this place. We were visiting from a huge culinary city so we know sushi and aren't afraid to try new things. We're giving two stars because the food was good but everything else was subpar. I had specifically asked on all the rolls to have soy paper (you write your order down so it was clearly communicated I felt) and the rolls came out as listed anyway. The service was AWEFUL! Our waiter was non existent and I had to flag down others to help us, and then the owner ended up running our tab at the end. For almost $100 bill, we won't be returning. read more

Every time I visit Breck, I am sure to visit this sushi bar and restaurant. I'm a sushi lover, and sitting at the sushi bar lets you talk to the sushi chef, see whats special, etc. The sushi is as fresh as can be. They usually get their fish delivery from Denver on Saturday, so a recent Sunday night visit was fantastic, including some chesapeak crabs over greens. YUMMY. read more
