In Houston to visit friends. We went to Moxies on a Friday night with no reservation but were seated immediately outside. There were 5 in our party. The dress code is a step above casual. We really enjoyed the atmosphere on the patio. The music was great and not too loud. The restaurant has a modern, restaurant/ bar lounge feel. The service was fine. No complaints. Everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. They have a good amount of vegetarian options. The vegetarian power bowl was excellent! My boyfriend loved his pasta. Overall, it was nice night out. read more

Stopped by after a shopping day at the Galleria for a little girls date and really enjoyed myself! The service was excellent and the food was tasty and filling ! Between my guest and myself, we could not decide what we wanted. When in doubt you know what I say? get it all LOL! We had the blackened shrimp tacos, a side of fries, calamari, and the chicken Caesar salad. Together, we split the Caesar salad as an appetizer. It was very good and super big! We both got full off the salad alone. Our food came immediately after and we enjoyed both the tacos and calamari. It was hot and fresh to order. The fries were delicious!! Well seasoned not too salty and just the right crunch! Our server was attentive and overall it was a great experience and I can't wait to come back! read more

Highly Recommend. To start we were given the option of sparkling or still water which I have never experienced in the States. Our server was very professional and was the perfect mix of checking on us just enough but not too much. She gave great recommendations about the food and the drinks. The food was spectacular. The salad was a hearty amount of greens and fresh tuna with some delicious peanut and cucumber sauce. The Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were creamy but not over done. And it all went so well with the pesto drizzle. If you get the mango chicken you better be very hunger or prepared to take some home. There was probably close to 12oz of chicken on top of a bed of delicious quinoa and vegetables. I'm not exactly sure what the yellow sauce was but it was also fantastic. read more

This place has a really trendy vibe! Nice ambiance upstairs. I only had dessert - the mile high mocha pie and a piece of the sticky toffee pudding. Both were delicious. Be aware that the pie is 95% ice cream, so you have to be ok paying that price for mostly ice cream. But it went well with the crumbly cookie middle and crust and the almonds and caramel/chocolate on top. Nice presentation! I would like to come back and try one of their regular menu items. Definitely worth another visit! read more

Back in early February, we did a team dinner here. Figured since we were hard at work, we should unwind and bond over some eats and drinks and this spot kept popping in my head since the team asked me to pick a place. Since I had been here before and fellow Yelpers had reviewed this place with positivity, this was the spot. Reservations were made via OpenTable and the party was seated upstairs. I had arrived late but after arriving on the top floor, the hostess immediately knew my name and led me to the table. Upon arriving, I'm greeted by our server who lets me know it's happy hour (HH) for another 15 minutes and with our crew already having ordered their beverage, I doubled up on the ol fashions and we ordered some apps on HH including the guacamole, poutine, and bruschetta. The guac is quite tasty and one of the better guacs I've had. Poutine has tons of cheese for you cheese fans like myself. Wish it had a bit more gravy though. The bruschetta, it has the toasted baguettes on the side and you scope the tomatoes and ricotta on top. A bit unorthodox as I prefer traditional bruschetta but whatever makes people happy. For the entrees I went with the Salmon avocado cobb salad which was basically a stacked wedge salad with the wedge of lettuce on the bottom, then layers of avocado, tomatoes, hard boiled egg, the salmon, and crispy bacon on top. Presentation looked dope and it tasted delicious although the salmon could've used a little more seasoning. Other co-workers mostly got pastas and sandwiches (typical corporate boring eats) which they enjoyed. Most of them ordered the chicken rigatoni and crispy chicken sandwich, everyone finished them and were stuffed afterwards. I mean, how could you not be stuffed after eating apps, entrees, and washing them down with cocktails and beers!? Service was on the money as our server was attentive and made sure we had what we had. Also appreciate her warning us about happy hour ending allowing us to get a last round of drinks in at the HH price before it shut down. There's a lot to like about this place with the atmosphere, location, drinks, and food. It's gonna be pricy so be prepared to spend. But it's definitely worth it! read more

Saturday night around 10pm, no wait time we asked to be seated first available Our waitress was very helpful with the me and drinks. She was also very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was very chill with sexy vibes Food was amazing! Bruschetta- bread was nice a toasty with a garlic flavor. The cheese was a little over whelming with a either lemon or dill flavor. However all the flavors paired well together Beef vindaloo- they knock the Indian dish out of the park! All the flavor and spices where there. The service is pretty decent. The food is a lil all over the place it's half seafood and half Burgers which feels like the menu can't make up its mind . This is my second time coming here while visiting friends in Houston and it is always a great spot. We stopped by for a late lunch with some friends after shopping at the Galleria and all of the food was amazing and looks pretty as well. The salmon salad came out and I was in awe by how visually appealing it was. We also got the potstickers and chips and guac that were very flavorful. We did sit outside this time because it was a nice day. We got seated very fast but I will say the service was a little slow just to get drinks or anything in. We popped over here after leaving another restaurant that we weren't able to try food at, and I'm sure glad we chose here! It was such a nice day out and they have a great patio space that we wanted to sit in. As we waited to be called for our table, we headed to the bar to grab a drink. We were greeted promptly by a smiling bar tender that happily took our drink orders and had them out swiftly! The ambiance of the bar connected to the outside patio was quite nice, bc you could feel a nice breeze. We were so hungry that we decided to actually order our food from the bar. And of course, a few mins after ordering our food, our patio table was ready. The bartender was so great and understanding, and we paid out our tab and headed out to the table. Our food was brought not too much longer outside to the patio and everyone that we interacted with had such a great smile and great attitude, so it really made for a wonderful experience. You could tell a lot of communication was going on throughout all the staff as everyone was constantly moving and checking on us and other guests. Once we were done, they cleared the table, which I LOVE! I hate sitting at a dirty table, especially if you'd like to relax, enjoy the weather and order more drinks. We will definitely be back to this place when it warms up again. I love the Dallas location so I'm happy that the houston one lives us to it as well! read more

Hello Yelpers!!! I'm in the H-Town meeting friends for lunch so we decided on Moxies. First off I like the fact that there was ample parking and free valet until 4pm. We walked in and the place looked great. We sat outside and placed our order. All I can say is everything was great and the food came in large portions. The drinks were delicious as well. The price of the food was reasonable, the service was fantastic. Our waitress was so sweet and the ambiance I loved. Especially the kool pictures on the wall. First off I will be going back! Food was insane! There are so many options I want to try. The mango chipotle chicken is just ridiculous. I'm never a chicken breast type person but it was juicy and the quinoa was seasoned and cooked well! The pasta is insane as well I should have got it as a main course but next time! The lettuce wraps are definitely a great lunch option as well just healthy option as well! Everything we got was a must get so you will have options! We went for a friend birthday dinner! We went to Moxies for brunch/lunch. It was a great day in houston, so the patio was the better option. Our waitress Stephanie was great, friendly and attentive. Inside is really cute, so i think it can be nice for a dinner date night. For brunch, they have a $30 bottle of bubbles(and not Andre). I actually ended up getting a burger and I was not mad at it *although the hostess started my visit on the wrong foot- i wont fault the whole business because Stephanie made up for it. When I booked reservations, I didn't realize this was mostly a sports bar and restaurant combined. We were seated promptly, but downstairs next to the bar which unfortunately had rowdy group celebrating their Christmas party. This place can get loud, so if you want to hear your date talk, ask to be seated upstairs. There is a dress code. Hint --- wear black. All the waitresses are attractive and wear fairly tight black dresses, so I can see why a lot of guys would come here for HH and to watch games. Regardless of the atmosphere, our waitress was nice, but was definitely trying to up sell us. We started with the calamari appetizer which was fresh. No rubbery calamari here and also mixed with fried shrimp and a sweet chilli and chipotle mayo dipping sauces. It was topped with shishitio peppers, which we were both hesitant to eat at first, but ended up enjoying. I ordered the filet mignon 6 oz along with quinoa and seasonal vegetables ($41). Everything was delicious. The filet was perfect and tender at medium rare. Usually at fine dining places, I find the sides subpar. However, the brocollini was flavorful and I loved the sweet roasted carrots. The quinoa was enjoyable too. The nice part about Moxies is you can go expensive or you can also have a reasonably priced dinner (burgers and tacos). My hubby got the shrimp tacos which were affordable at $18. They had a nice crispiness with the lettuce but weren't anything special. I liked the thick chips they came with which had a little spice sprinkled on top. This is the first time we skipped dessert at a nice place. They had some brownies, mocha and key lime pies, but nothing seemed to stand out and we're trying to be good for the holidays. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but felt the sports bar environment dampened the enjoyment of our date. Next time, I'll ask to be seated upstairs. read more

Just a heads up, whether you're a party of 1 or 10, your bill will be charged an automatic 20% gratuity. Management claims it is on their website but I'd like them to post a screenshot of that because I only see a statement of "gratuity added for a party of 6 or more". But I will add, I was glad to pay the automatic gratuity and I actually added more on top because requiring your waitresses, to adhere to a dress code of heels, tight skirts and dresses and work 8 hours on their feet all day, makes me think they deserve that money. Other than that glitch in the system, I still was happy to give this establishment 5 stars. The location is fabulous, in the heart of Galleria. Great place if you have out of town visitors. There is valet. Indoor and outdoor seating, with great outdoor shaded views of post oak. Great selection food items. Clean bathrooms. Thumbs up to any restaurant that serves mocktails. Everything we ordered was super delicious. Great for birthdays, gatherings, dates, and although I saw a kid or two, I don't think it's kid friendly. I enjoyed everything about our lunch. I'm looking forward to going back many times and already told many friends about this new find. read more

What a great HH spot close to the Galleria Mall. Came here with my co worker's and Bosses and we had such a great time. We opt to sit outside and the weather was perfect. We ordered a lot of appetizer dishes which were all delicious however, the Ramen I ordered was wack. My fault for thinking it would be good. Well, the appetizers and some of my friends dishes I tasted were yummy. Overall, a great spot and hope to stop by again soon. read more

Moxies is in the heart of the Galleria area. Heavy in traffic and some of the greatest foodie places nearby. I came for a friend's birthday and decided to buy her a shot of tequila (Don julio).. $15!! Hurt a little but HAPPY EFFING BIRTHDAY! I also ordered some guac and fish tacos. Not too bad but not amazing with price you're paying. . While this wasn't my first time at moxies, I really try to steer clear from the crowed but it's always nice to get dressed up and come by this area from time to time. I would totally come back just for the patio on a gameday. Inside was a small space with a bar in the middle and a DJ booth off to the side. I will say the booths were super tight and was snug for the guys in the group. Our petite ladies fit in but felt it was a little restricting. The younger crowd around the lounge were sitting on top of the seats. I guess that's what the cool kids do. After paying outrageous prices for mediocre drinks at dinner, this place was very refreshing with good drink specials and drinks that were properly made. I took advantage of the gin and tonic special they had that night. The drinks came out in cool, light up glasses. We didn't stay super long but enjoyed the time we were there. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the entire experience felt top-notch from start to finish. What truly made the night exceptional was the service from our waiter, James. He was incredibly attentive, gave excellent recommendations, and genuinely wanted to make sure we had the best experience possible. He was always available whenever we needed something, yet we never once felt rushed. Highly recommend Toca Madera, and if you get the chance, ask for James!

I'll just start off with a quick recommendation from the first visit (because didn't do review that time): the Snapper - immediately yes, if you are not opposed to bony fish and working for your meal in that way lol. Now for this visit I was tempted to get the snapper again but was feeling simple & easy dining, something that didn't require me to use my hands lol. I went with the Peruvian Chicken and it did the job! Great portion, great price, great flavor. Comes with a verde sauce that I was a bit hesitant about, if I'm being honest, but it was so perfect with the chicken and the potatoes. I give it an overall 8.5/10 and it probably would've more if I would've gotten a little more potatoes with my meal. The lobster Mac was okay. The lobster was well cooked but the mac was a standard mac and cheese. Not pictured but I tried from my neighbors and liked: the seafood dip and the wagyu meatball pasta - would likely be my next Bungalow order. They also do a personal s'mores plate for birthday celebrants which I thought was really cute and unique. I must say though, parking cannnn be a hassle. But apart from that, would highly recommend!

Food waited in the private event room for 20 minutes without being served to guests, multiple drinks/glasses broke, and there was visibly no accountability for the several food issues associated with our large party. Gabrielle's attitude towards asking for corrections for your meal was substandard for what you should've received at such as "nice" establishment. The event room was unusually warm. As busy as it appears with the ratings online- I would definitely say it's inflated due to the chef (taste of food) and NOT the service. To have spent $400 for my meal with my spouse- we received a $50 meal with $0 service. Chic-Fil-A has better customer service. GM Kevin, should review the footage of the private party event that happened yesterday for the table of 17 & definitely reprimand, retrain, and reconsider some of this staff. Once he left, the night appeared to go downhill.
