This restaurant has been at the mall for 50yrs. The original owner sold it and the new owners moved it to Beach street. It is closer to their offices and it allows the bar to stay open later than the mall. Beach street is being revitalized as a great night spot for Daytona. This puts the restaurant and bar in the heart of it. The staff is the same so it is great to see the crew and be greeted when we walk in. The menu looks different but has most of the old favorites. Today is the first week of opening and they are packed. So glad to see the support for this icon of Daytona Beach. The beer garden vibe is still here and the beer selection they are famous for is still on tap. They brought over the bar stools and several of the old tables but also have some bigger ones as well. The grocery store area is very small. I hope they bring it all back as it always had some unique items to buy. The deli service for cold cuts is still available upfront. They are still dealing with several changes so give them some time. The food was just as good as always so well worth it.

And the "other" wine bar in Ormond Beach doesn't even have bread in the restaurant. The crostini were freshly made, with a touch of garlic. The crab dip was delicious and had lumps of crab in it. Very filling. This wine bar has a lot of European and South American wines, not just CA. And the woman working there was pretty knowledgeable. She also encourage us to taste the wines before committing to a glass, which was appreciated since most glasses are $15+. We both got red blends and they were both good. The atmosphere is very laid back, not pretentious. There are clear signs that everyone is welcome here, straight, gay or otherwise. the couches are beckoning, and the conversation pits are well set up. We were here right after opening, around 5pm. And at first it was empty but that didn't make us feel awkward because the staff were attentive without being intimidating. They were very welcoming. We left saying we willl go back when we have more time and appetite and try sitting at a couch instead of the bar.

There was almost no one in the place, yet we had to go to the bar after about 5 minutes to get seated. The bartender was also the server, and I got the idea also the owner. She never slowed down, to the point that you could not ask questions or get additional items. The atmosphere was very rushed. My wife ordered the shrimp and scallops and I ordered the bolonese. When our food arrived, the scallops were the tiny bay scallops that are not even a full bite. She was pretty dissapointed in this but it didn't say sea scallops so she didn't say anything. The bolonese was TERRIBLE. It was advertised as having meat sauce, there was no meat, it was not creamy at all.It taste just like hunts canned spaghetti sauce with nothing added. When I told the server it was not good, she snatched it off the table and took it to the back. No apology, didn't ask if I wanted anything else, just took it away. The cook did come out to ask what was wrong, when I said it taste like a can, he had no response, only asked if I wanted something else. I had to eat so I ordered the burger with fries. This came out fine, a little undercooked, but that is sometimes what you get when you order a medium burger. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. This is supposed to be a French place, there are very little French dishes, a lot of Italian dishes, and a decent burger. THis is not a place I would return to.

Let me start with this: I do not like wine…read more I've tried for years. I've ordered it at dinners, events, girls' nights... and I've rarely even been able to finish a glass. That's how much I typically dislike the taste. My preference? Sweet and fruity. Think Jolly Rancher candy. The only exception I've ever found was Ice Wine, which is rarely carried in restaurants or wine bars. So when we attended a work event here, I was honestly looking forward to the company more than the drinks. But I decided to be honest with our waitress. I told her I don't like dry wine, I prefer sweet, and asked if she had any recommendations. She introduced me to Sangue Di Giuda (Italy -- fruity, light, medium sweet, low alcohol)... and for the first time ever, I found a wine I genuinely enjoyed. I could actually sip it without making a face. At around $8 a glass, it felt very reasonable. They also offer full bottles for purchase, which I love as an option if you find something you enjoy. Beyond the wine, the atmosphere makes this place special. It's warm, relaxed, and perfect for conversation. It feels elevated without being stuffy -- the kind of place where you can linger and talk without feeling rushed. So this review is for two groups: * Wine lovers looking for a great experience * And the "I don't like wine but I'm here anyway" crowd Be honest about what you like. Let the staff guide you. You might surprise yourself like I did. We'll absolutely be back -- and yes, I'll be ordering the same glass again. Bonus: It's located in a plaza with great dinner options, so you can easily turn it into a full night out. We grabbed Greek food next door afterwards, and there's also Bronx House pizza at the end of the plaza if that's more your vibe (both are delicious!). Makes planning easy.

The wine tastings are Thursday 5-7 and do not disappoint it's a great way to try new wines and they give you a discount on bottles of the wines sampled that night. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the music is just the right genre/volume so you are still able to chat and catch up while sipping. This is a great one stop shop for premier wines - we have come in a few times and told them our favorite notes/food it's going with and they help you find the perfect bottle. Highly recommend!

This place has a nice vibe and the owners are really dedicated from what I could see. They are opening a patio with a larger menu and getting a liquor license, hopefully by summer. Tucked away on the first floor of the Fountain Square plaza, we enjoyed the friendly clientele and the reasonably priced wine and beer. House wines for only $6 per glass, but we noticed a few couples purchasing bottles to save a few bucks. They are off to a good start! Just the Sampler was all fried (which we knew) and was served with no plastic cutlery and only one napkin for 2 people, no salt and pepper until requested. The cold cheese dip was good but could have been warmed and more plentiful. Maybe a salsa side would have worked too. Ranch, anyone? Everything was nicely cooked and served hot. The beef empanada was seasoned really nicely and the filling seemed to have peppers and onions. The chicken one seemed to be all breast meat as the filling. Better than all fillers, but some more seasoning would have been good. The yucca fries were nicely done and there were 3 types. One was a cheese bite that could have been crispier but had a nice flavor. We will come back, probably when the patio opens and the menu expands. After all, what is a speakeasy without a highball?
