I am giving this place 3 stars because the person working there had good intentions but unfortunately they did not understand English & I asked for lemons and they gave me a bowl of lemons w no tongs or a fork I just had to grab it with my hands over all the man was very nice but as far the food it was very hot out the fryer and I could not eat it with out Burning my mouth how ever it was very fresh with no seasonings just tarter sauce . Me and lunch buddy were going through our old reviews, wondering where to grace with our presence for lunch. This place came up. It's right by work, and we both seemed to remember liking it. So, after a quick trip to an ATM to grab cash, we left for this destination. We walked in and there was a tiny Asian man behind the counter. My buddy asked for the #2 lunch special (Fried fish, fried onion ring & fried shrimp [or] egg roll) He opted for the egg roll. I ordered the same thing, and went with the shrimp. We paid with our cash (Total was a mere six and change) and sat down at a table. A few moments later little old Asian dude placed bottles of water in front of us. Apparently that's included in the lunch deals. We did not know that, and were pleasantly surprised. Not too long after little Asian dude brought us our food. It looked tasty...and fried. I dumped vinegar over the whole plate. The fried fish, the fried shrimp, and the onion rings got some vinegar also. As for the onion rings, the onion rings were more fried onions rather than fried onion rings. The shrimp was almost larger than the fish, and the fish was a good sized square. I watched my buddy toss a bit of fish in his mouth and then he did that reaction when you eat something really really hot, you hold your hand over your mouth and chew slowly with an open mouth to avoid further burns in your mouth. I decided to try the water at that point. It was cold and refreshing. My plastic fork easily cut up the fried fish, and I let it sit for a while before eating it. The vinegar and fried fish were quite good. Although it was still hot, I managed to get a few pieces down without too much damage. The Shrimp was also good with the vinegar. After I finished the meal, I noticed parts of the plate had been melted due to the extreme heat of the items that were placed upon it. I wondered how much of the styrofoam I had ingested. But, to be honest I'd do it again. Because that was some dang tasty fish and onion rings. Tasty Food, Cheap, Quick, Cash only. I miss this place! I used to come at least once a week during high school. DO NOT SLEEP on the lunch specials, they are amazing! For around $6, you can get a fried fish filet, a fried zucchini, a small order of fries and small drink. This establishment is more Asian-style than a traditional pub style fish and chip place. The fish filets are not tiny by any means (this is important to know when you look at the prices!), and are battered tempura style. It is a light coating that is crispy, airy and not too greasy. They also offer fried shrimp and veggies, broasted chicken that is flavorful and very juicy, fried wontons and dumplings (see what I mean about "Asian-style?") and other various goods. I like that if you want to order any thing to-go, you can call ahead (saves a lot of time) and that they take the time to score vent holes in the Styrofoam boxes to prevent a lot of steam and moisture buildup. This means less soggy food! Take note, it is cash only. I'd recommend calling ahead because they have your food ready to go for pick up. I've only dined in maybe 4 or 5 times, but over the years I have noticed that their service has steadily improved and been more efficient. You used to have to wait forever, but now they are quick, friendly and very accommodating. Mmm, writing this made me want Mr. Fish and Chips now! I would 5 star, but prices are a bit high. read more

Tartar sauce was a little watered down. The portion of the fish is really generous. The place is well maintained. The table and condiments dispenser were cleaned well, as in not sticky. The owner is also very friendly and generous when I asked for a few extra sauce (I love to drench my fish with sauce). I was also very surprised that their boba tasted ok (3 star). Brought my family here last week, it was a great success! Both of my parents and my sister LOVE IT!! We ordered fried beans, fried sweet potatoes, fried mushrooms and onion rings, they were very well fried and was a good portion. We also had the fish & chips, pan fried Cod, and a side order of fried shrimp. The fish is HUGE, and it was not greasy AT ALL (my mom was very happy about that) The Broasted chicken was very crispy outside and the meat is still very juicy inside. My personal favorites are definitely the fish and chips, the Broasted chicken and the Pan fried Cod!! We also decided to try some of their drinks, my sister got the thai boba, my mom got the Japanese mocha with boba (notice, its the japanese green tea) and i got the regular white milk tea with boba. Being an Asian, im pretty picky with the Boba and the flavor of the tea.The boba they had was actually chewy and WARM! (Which means its freshly made) and the tea was not too sweet yet still has good flavor, which is exactly the way i like it! $2.99 for a cup of boba milk tea is DEFINITELY a good deal around this area. Mr. Fish & Chips seemed to be the consensus when I asked locals where I should go. The little hole in the wall store wasn't exactly what I expected. Their lunch specials seem to be fair in price the food tastes unseasoned to me. I'm not sure if they were having some sort of plumbing issues, but it smelled like the trash needed to be taken out. They seem to specialize in asian dishes. It's not a strictly "fish n chips" joint. The service was good though. They don't speak the best of english, but do well enough and always smiled. Tried this place for the 1st time The other night. I am not a fish eater, so never wanted to go, but I learned they have other items. My husband got the fish and chips and he really liked it. The fish wasn't overly breaded and greasy. I got the chicken and broasted potatoes. The chicken was very moist and not greasy. The potatoes were delicious as was the small side of coleslaw. Wish there was more of the coleslaw. The best surprise about this little place was the egg rolls. They are like what the Cantonese restaurants would have, not the tiny spring rolls that all the Chinese places have these days. They were the best eggs rolls I have had in over 15+ years!!! The fish and chips here are good. Not your traditional English style but the fish is fresh and the batter resembles tempura. Each piece of fish is quite large so a two piece fish and chips meal should fill you up. It isn't overly greasy either. We usually also get the fried zucchini which also is tempura battered. The tempura battered mushrooms are good too. The tarter sauce is great, has a hint of garlic to it. So order an extra tub. read more

We tried Mr. Fish and chips this last weekend phoned in our order... we tried them based on comments from our community forum...we ordered fish and chips and some coleslaw and the fried shrimp. First thing we noticed when we got our food with the fish was so greasy on our fingers we're not used to that the shrimp were like pounded out they were so huge everything was over battered .. and when you took a bite the batter fell off the fish I've never experienced that before? least we can say we tried it ... The coleslaw was so sweet I couldn't even eat it.. we won't be going back sorry Mr. fish and chips... . Have been living in Simi for a few years and surprised I haven't seen this place! The portions are pretty big, I would recommend just doing one fish with the fish and chips, then again, for 2 people, we ordered 2 of those, pot stickers, fried green beans, fried mushroom, andddd clam chowder! We went for it! And I gotta say everything was absolutely delicious! The fish and the fried veggies take the cake but the fries were perfectly cooked and the dumplings were as well! The only thing I would say is that the clam chowder isn't as thick as most usually are, but the flavor was still pretty good. Thank you chefs! A great fried fish experience. The batter was light and crisp, the fish was fresh and extremely juicy, melted in my mouth, and the two piece portion was huge. The tartar sauce was the perfect consistency for the fish and crispy portions of the batter to not break off into. And it tasted like it had some ranch ancestry, which is great because the chips got to participate in the dipping. And I feel good about supporting a local small business.
