My son picked this restaurant for his birthday. This is my first time at this restaurant. It is all you can eat Korean BBQ. It costs $29.95 each person. The menu has 22 items. There was a line when we arrived. After 20 minutes, we got a table. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. It gave me a feeling of being home and cozy. We had gotten a little table in the back and we happily enjoyed our food. Our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable. Whenever we asked her anything she would give us a straight answer and just be down for it. The water comes in container that you wouldn't expect but you pour it into your little cup and drink as much water as you'd like and the water would keep coming back. Honestly for AYCE KBBQ, it's a fantastic deal. You won't get the best quality of meat, given it's an AYCE place, but compared to others, I like it. They offer plenty of other cooked dishes with a great AYCE price per person. I've recommended mr kimchi to a bunch of friends and also taken others here to try KBBQ. It's always hit but my only complaint is the lack of side dishes, ban chan. other places have lots of options and won't charge for rice. The lack of little ban chan and paying for rice is a bummer. Also, the quality of the meat is a little more frozen than other AYCE, but still yummy. Those two reasons are why it docked this place from a 5 star to a 4. Still love it though and will continue to go here. The fried chicken and their jigae's (soups) they offer with the AYCE are perfect individual portions and are so good. read more

This place definitely beats any other KBBQ place for variety on their AYCE menu. So many different meats including Korean Fried Chicken! How cool is that? I don't like their lettuce mix thing though, it's too sour and honestly hurts my teeth from being so tart. I'm also a fan that the menu includes soup and you can get naengmyun for an additional charge. Service is okay. A waiter named Dylan is FANTASTIC. So upbeat and kind. He was amazing and I would come back constantly if he were always going to be my waiter. Other servers are good too but some have a bit of attitude, not sure why. If you're looking for a laid back, authentic and just absolutely delicious Korean BBQ, you must try Mr. Kimchi. Weve been to Iron Age and this place has a more authentic feel to them. Their meats are well seasoned, the side dishes are simple and hits the right spot. I love the cheese corn. The egg soufflé is also a good addition. The ambiance is relaxed, brings you close to feeling like you are indeed in Korea enjoying a great dinner. Service is polite, efficient and friendly. Tl;dr - Great service, disappointing kbbq experience The staff was attentive and provided us with very good service. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing barbeque-ing experience. For a Korean barbecue restaurant, the least I could expect is for the meat to cook well with a char. However, their grills have black mats that prevent that from happening. Not a good experience, especially when you have to wait a while for a piece of meat to cook, not to mention it alters the taste. Price would be fair if the grilling experience was better! read more

We got the korean fried chicken, pork neck bone hotpot stew, and seafood pancake. Initially we thought we had too little food for our party of 5 adults/1 kid/1 baby, but we came out of there full and with leftovers, which was a pleasant surprise! The fried chicken were pretty much Popeyes-size (much bigger than the picture that looked like buffalo wild wings size), and it's well-breaded and crispy with a nice sweet chili sauce. The pork neck bone stew was tasty and had a well-balanced spice to it, though I wish there was more meat, as the number of large bones made it look deceptively meaty. The seafood pancake was pretty good in my opinion since I don't usually like it at other restaurants, but my friends felt it was just ok, so this is definitely a personal preference thing The place is very clean, smells great, and has friendly service, though sometimes it can take a little bit of time to get your waiter's attention since it's so busy. I'm going straight to the point at this place, I was not a fan. It lacked flavor & quality of the food items, nearly each bite I took. The good thing about it is that it is AYCE, but it was not worth it. I was truly disappointed. To the hangoversoup, it was very bland & the pork blood had a slightly different texture I could not consume from what I am used to, the service could've been better, I felt like we were more of a nuisance, the sides didn't have much going on & the meats was not something I'd crave again. They didn't offer many sauces, so it lacked flavor in my opinion. There were things we wanted to try, but the servers weren't able to really explain to us what it was. This was only my second/third time eating Korean BBQ and I was not disappointed. First off, based on the storefront, you wouldn't think that the restaurant is very large. But then you go in and become floored at how spacious it is and how many tables you pass. I thought the decor was charming and beautiful. I think my favorite part of it all was that parties were fairly separated which is great for privacy. It felt very intimate. The food was good! We ordered the $34.95 all you can eat and I can tell you that my favorite was the bulgogi and brisket. The marinade was so good and you can taste the well developed flavor! We also tried the wine pork belly, garlic pork belly, baby octopus, garlic chicken, and a whole bunch that I can't recall. I was stuffed after. I definitely needed some veggies to break up all the meat but there weren't any at all on the AYCE menu. We did try the fried dumplings which were also good. A downside was that rice was an extra $1 per cup... which is a bit confusing since it's something that is normally included and well, most definitely should be as it is just a bit strange to only eat meat with nothing else to balance. Overall the food was solid, but I think not the best for paying almost $40 per person. But then again, it's all about the choices and that just means that I have to try more! Service was great, quick, and easy. Our party appreciated that there were bells on the tables to notify when you needed a waitress to order more or any dishes you needed out of your way. They changed our mat on the grill often to keep the freshness. The whole cooking process was fairly easy and the meats didn't take too long to cook but I wouldn't necessarily recommend eating here when you're starving and need quick and easy. I will most definitely come back and look forward to my next meal. I think this is a perfect choice if you're looking to relax a bit. The fact that you have to wait for it to cook in front of you gives good bonding time for you and your party. It's very intimate and always good conversation! Socially distanced private sectioned seating in restaurant. It's open until late and a great spot even without reservation. The portions are huge and worth the price. We've done individual entrees, appetizers; as well as the all you can eat bbq. If you're going to order any bbq, it's cheaper to get all you can eat. The meat was tender and flavorful. It is SO rare to find all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ places in the suburbs, so Mr. Kimchi was such an unexpected gem! My family and I came here for Friday lunch, and it was already starting to get filled up around noon. Most KBBQ seats are in separate alcoves, and you can press a button to request food service. The main rule is that you can only order 3 meat platters at a time. The waiters are very conscientious of the amount of meat left when you order refills, so be sure to empty your current plates! Most available meat are either beef or pork. You can also order non-barbecue Korean foods such as dumplings, steamed egg, kimchip tofu stew, etc. Lunch AYCE prices are $19.95 (Mon-Fri 11 am - 3 pm) while dinner AYCE prices are $29.95. The main difference is that you can only order seafood and beef short ribs for dinner. There seemed to be only 2 waiters serving at least 7-8 groups at a time, but they were extremely efficient and prompt so you couldn't even label the restaurant as understaffed. In fact, like most AYCE places, service is great. They regularly replace the grill with clean silicon mats, and they remember your list of food requests no matter how long they are. My friends and I went to Mr Kimchi for the AYCE last night for dinner. We decided that this was not a place that we would go back to for the following reasons: 1) They only gave 5 banchan (sides) and the sides were really mediocre. A really good Korean restaurant would offer more banchan than just 5 sides 2) the meats (especially the galbi) needed more seasoning 3) the seafood (squid and octopus) also did not have any flavor and it seemed like there was just gochujang sauce slapped on top of it. The only thing I would note was the customer service was good and our waiter was always replacing the grill tops often. But other than that, I would not come back here again. read more

Wow, just tried this with family for the first time and had a great experience. It was a bit awkward at first as a newbie at this restaurant but in no time we were ordering plate after plate of raw flesh to place on our table grill...... sizzling to our delight. We tried nearly all meat selections and loved them all. I agree with others, it did seem a bit odd after paying for an all you can eat meat experience and then pay $1 for a bowl of rice. We went to this restaurant back in December and I still catch myself daydreaming about it... The AYCE here is AMAZING. And I kid you not, Mr. Kimchi's had some of the best dak bulgogi that I've ever had in my life. It had just the perfect amount of spice to balance out the flavor and was just *chef's kiss* The service here was wonderful, too. The server we had was nice enough to show us how to cook the food properly (we weren't first-timers but we were rusty) and they checked on us often enough that we never had to worry about drink refills. Came here with my pals on a Thursday evening for dinner. We did not have a wait before getting seated. which is great because we were all starved and ready to eat. We all chose the ayce menu which is $30/person. There is a large selection of meats and other items such as : korean fried chicken, cheese corn, tofu soup, etc. Aside from included meats and sides, we had a seafood pancake, individual rice bowls, a bottle of soju, and a pitcher of Saporro. Our server, Dylan, was very attentive, honest, and nice! He changed our grill mat after each meat change. THANK YOU! The ban chan sides were okay. They had: bean sprouts, potato, pasta salad, radish, kimchi. After eating way too much food, our bill came out to $250 amongst 5. (18% gratuity was included in bill) But you can give more, by choice. They offer vanilla soft serve for $1. The ventilation could've been a little better because I definitely smelled like I was at a kbbq place but I've been through worst.
