If I could I would give 10 stars, 1st time wanting to try indian fry bread coming back from New Mexico. Staff so helpful so sweet.Lots to look at with all the antiques . Had the navajo taco, Wow it was so big I couldnt finish it. The friends I was with said they have passed the place a million times and not stopped no more will always stop now.

Mr. Maesta's Cafe is definitely worth a stop along historic Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona! We visited Mr. Maesta's Cafe for dinner while we were on the road, and it was a charming spot with southwestern cuisine and gifts. We visited on a Thursday evening and the place had a good amount of people dining inside. There's a lot of charm with this cafe, as it really is a roadside attraction in an older building. Then you walk inside and there were a ton of nick nacks and items to purchase for gifts, including petrified wood and rocks. Further in the cafe is the dining area where we sat. The menu had a lot to choose from, with southwestern cuisine, such as green chile stews, enchiladas, and navajo taco. We were provided with complimentary chips and salsa. My partner ordered the green chile burger while I tried the navajo taco. It was my first time having a navajo taco, and I can see why it's a local favorite. The navajo bread is filled with a hefty amount of chili, lettuce, tomato, cheese and onions. It was very filling - and tasty. You have to try a navajo taco while in these parts! My boyfriend enjoyed his green chile burger, which also came with fries smothered with the chile and cheese. We were stuffed, but after seeing the table next to us order a banana cream pie, we decided to share a slice. All of the pies are made in house, and it was soooo delicious! They had a handful of other flavors, but the banana cream was one I highly recommend ordering. Mr. Maesta's Cafe was a great stop while trekking through Holbrook. We enjoyed the charming, historic setting, the delicious food and friendly staff. Now I'll always remember my first time eating a navajo taco!

Green Chili Crisp with meat (ground beef) and a Sopapilla on the side. Free salsa and chips.

Definite Old School Feel with all the retro antiques hanging on and from the ceiling. Our waitress was Great. She was very friendly and attentive. Free table salsa and chips. I had the Green Chili Crisp w/meat, with a Sopapilla on the side to fill with honey. My buddies had the stuffed Sopapilla and a large Buritto. It's nice that both could have green & red sauces. Prices have gone up, but I'm sure everyone is still recovering from the pandemic days.

Combination dinner-one of everything. Extremely tasty. I highly recommend it but you will be full when you're finished.

It is very easy to miss this restaurant but don't. The food is fantastic. I had perhaps the best refried beans I have ever, ever had. Whenever I drive up through Holbrook, I make a point to stop here and you should, too. The service was fine and it's such an interesting ambience. There are all kinds of pictures and old western relics than almost anyone would enjoy.

    Navajo Taco

After leaving the Petrified Forest, needed to refuel. Had a Navajo Taco. Portion was adequate (I shared w/wife). Flavoring was good. Service was pleasant. It isn't quite a 4, but close. I would come back if ever in the neighborhood.

Came here because of the reviews and interior decor. The only downfall is that the menu photos weren't updated. Prices were about $3-4 more than the previous posted menu pics. I've posted updated pics of the menu for everyone. I have been craving a Navajo taco since I first had one a little over a year ago. Sooo good. Got some complimentary chips and salsa. I loved the thin fresh chips and the salsa had a nice kick to it. Got the Navajo taco without tomatoes. It was so good. I opted for the green chili vs red. I love green chili. The fry bread was so fluffy and perfect. It's like a taco cloud of goodness. Also got a tamale and the ham and cheese with fries. The ham and cheese you can't go wrong with making. It was made with thick cut ham and nicely grilled bread. The fries were nice and potatoey. I recommend stopping here for a great Navajo taco for sure. The interior of the place along with the IQ test games on the table are pretty cool.

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by everything from the gorgeous hotel and welcoming staff to the delicious food. I mean seriously... everything was so good! Our service was excellent. We ordered quite a bit of food and our server timed everything perfectly so no meals overlapped, giving us time to digest and enjoy our drinks between courses. A majority of their menu includes nuts, and I have a tree nut allergy. I was able to alter my orders a bit to accommodate my allergy but the level of care the staff provided to put my mind at ease, without me asking mind you, was truly what I would consider above and beyond service. My server made sure what I ordered was safe for me to eat by personally checking food labels as well as speaking with the head chef and then the manager came out to confirm that my orders were nut free AND the staff would be changing gloves to avoid any cross contamination. I mean, wow! After we finished eating, we went to the gift shop (which is a must visit!) and explored the hotel and got to see some truly unique and deeply thoughtful pieces of art by the incredibly talented, Tina Mion. Highly recommended for anyone interested in a unique dining experience and in a small town not too far from Flagstaff, if you're willing to make the drive!

A very sweet older woman was our server. She made sure we were well-tended to and we had everything we needed. I ordered huevos rancheros with red sauce. It was very good. It came with flour tortillas on the side. The tortillas had nice flavor and were very soft. They were different than tortillas I normally eat, but I'm used to Baja-style Mexican food. I thought the beans were flavorful, but a little on the dry side. I think they were on the plate too long before getting to me. Husband got the daily special with tacos. I had previously looked up hotels and saw that Mandarin Beauty was recommended by someone. I love Asian food, so I decided to give it a try. Pulling up, I wasn't sure it was the right place. For some reason, the front reminded me of a Mexican place. Walking in, there was an adorable older woman seated at a table. I asked for a table for one and she just smiled. A pretty younger lady came out of the kitchen and indicated I could sit wherever. I was the only customer in the restaurant, late afternoon, on a Sunday. The menu was larger than I had anticipated. Many of the dishes were likely popular with American tastes. I didn't want anything too heavy, so I opted for a chicken rice noodle dish and some hot tea. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. The bathroom, like the rest of the restaurant, needs some help. It was clean, but a refresh would go far. Near the bathrooms and kitchen, there is a buffet station. It was larger than I expected. (Buffet is not available at dinner.) When I got back to my table, the tea and food were waiting for me. The portion size was bigger than I expected. The rice noodles were cooked just right, not overcooked. There were far more vegetables than I expected, which was a welcomed surprise. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and plentiful. I enjoyed every bite. I went to the pay and the total was a little less than $20. I only had two 20s, so I gave the pretty lady a $20 and asked for change, wanting to pay the bill with my other 20. She gave me the difference from the price of the bill and the 20. I giggled and gave her the other 20 and asked for change. Then, she realized what I was asking. Unfortunately, it seems that business had been slow, because I got a $5 and a bunch of dollar bills. I left the change from the bill and a nice tip. As I was leaving a truck pulled up. I hope they got some more customers that evening. I plan on returning on my next trip through!
