I ordered The Monster full sandwich my first time here (Before I realized how big thr portion sizes were) and was super full with just the half so I kept the other half for lunch the next day. Nowadays, I stick with the half unless I need multiple meals out of it. They have so many options and you can customize your sandwiches too. Soups, chips, drinks, and fruit are also available as sides. Basically, it's the perfect lunch spot if you're working on a budget and need to get back to work in a timely manner. The real issue would be finding parking, as it's a relatively small lot for the number of businesses in the plaza. I'd suggest ordering over the phone or via Yelp to pick up so you don't struggle to find parking and then still have to wait to order. Within 15 minutes, and during the busy lunch rush, they successfully completed the big order I made in-person to pick up for everyone at my office; 5 sandwiches, 3 salads, and more! Typical looking Irvine strip mall sandwich shop. What's NOT typical; The people working here. Thee nicest, quickest sandwich whipper upperers evah. Thee freshest everything...bread...meats...veggies. Owner is great as well. He had 2 other shops in the Redhill/Skypark/Redhill/MacArthur corp maze area for many years before moving to this location a few years ago. I ordered a turkey, avocado and swiss on squaw bread priced at $6.99. There was a good amount of turkey but the quality of the turkey was so so. The avocado was not fresh avocado. It was a thin avocado spread that was not very good. The squaw bread did not taste that fresh as well. The sandwich size was fairly large compared to other sandwich places priced similarly. I normally just read the reviews on yelp. But, after my experience at Mr Sandwich I was compelled to write my own. But, it got deleted. Very suspect.... So, this is my 2nd run at it. I came here to have a quick lunch. That was mistake #1. I walked in and was instantly greeted by the owner. I tried to look over their menu and that's where this horrific nightmare began. It hurt my head trying to understand the concept. I might as well been reading hieroglyphics. They have like 5 variations of the same thing. Hi, welcome to Mr Sandwich. We have ham and cheese or you can try the cheese and ham.... WTH? Why do you want to confuse and alienate the customer? I had a difficult time making a decision. It didn't help that the owner kept yelling NEXT! There was nobody else in line. He was obviously talking to me. After the 4th time. I asked him what he suggested. That was mistake #2. He said the turkey avocado. I asked him is that your best sandwich? He replied with "We sell a lot of them." That's not what I asked... I was expecting at least real avocado slices for the amount they charged me.. Subway even gives you that and for way less. The thick slices of cheese also appeared to be the kind you could find at Costco. Mistake # 3. I reluctantly took a few bites and ended up throwing the rest away. The bread was so thin and cheap it stuck to the roof of my mouth. I couldn't even scream for help.. I can make a better tasting sandwich at home. Now I know why the owner recommended this to me. Because, it's clearly obvious they make the highest profit margin off anyone dumb enough to order it. I know my sandwiches. I glanced in the kitchen and noticed he had the whole family working there. First time I've tried this little gem, and I am a fan. The owner was very friendly. I asked what he recommended, the Turkey, Avocado, and Swiss on Squaw Bread. The chicken salad was also ordered with avocado. It took less than 5 minutes and we had our order presented on cute little styrofoam plates. I eat here at least twice a week. It's walking distance from work. I think I have put off Yelping this place though, because it's just a pricey sandwich. Nothing to write home about, really. That said, Mr. Sandwich makes a good sandwich. It's just not groundbreaking. It's basically what you could make at home if you had super fresh ingredients at your disposal. My standard is the turkey and avocado on squaw, extra pickles and add lettuce, please. For some reason, lettuce is not a 'standard' sandwich ingredient. (WTF, Mister.) The chicken salad sandwich is also good, they even add apples to the mix. It's pricey though...a sandwich, chips and drink will get you to ten bucks. "Taiko" is the other one that's been in my top 3 without fail. There are two things about this place that always brings me back: 1. They definitely don't hold back here, stuffing the sandwiches with a heap of meat and generously spreading avocado all over the bread. I paid $5 for half of a turkey, swiss and avocado sandwich and it reminded me very much of something I would have made at home. They use sliced bread from the loaf, not baguettes. The service is really quick and there is plenty of parking outside. My only complaint that is that my sandwich was completely soggy. I love Mr. Sandwich! I work right next to this place in 8 Corporate Park, so it`s a nice 1 minute drive to get a great sandwich. My go-to: Chicken Salad and Sprouts on whole wheat. The pastrami was just meat and mustard with pickles. The Meatball sandwich was just meatball, tomato sauce, and cheese.. which is expected of a meatball sandwich.
