This place is a hidden gem. Tho I've only had their al pastor meat, that's all I really need lol and they have this orange sauce that's FIIRREE but not spicy fire, well just a lil spicy, but fire as in DELICIOUS and I've NEVER tasted an orange sauce like this. The orange sauce with their al pastor is the PUURRFECT combination. I've had their super pastor quesadilla and their pastor burrito with the orange sauce instead of their salsa in this inside and those are the two main things I order from here. The owner and the fam and workers are soo friendly and ALWAYS have the best customer service. But just FYI, on taco Tuesday, this place gets a little crazy but worth it. read more

I've been going to this place since it was called Iguanas back in the day. Not that far back in the day, honestly. And I have continued going here since it has changed to the Mr. Taco name a few years back. What makes me want to go to this place is the carne asada fries. I love the Mexican fusion or pretty much anything with french fries. What they kept, which I am really glad they did was the orange sauce. I like it better than La Vic's, personal opinion. This place is pretty much always a to-go spot. That being said, some people do dine in, but the majority go in and pick up and go home. The resturant itself isn't very big. Thinking of seats themselves, I think there are less than 10 tables total. Depending on the night I would call and place the order before going in. Of course on weekends they are busier, so that's when I would call. Otherwise, on weeknights its not horrible to hangout for a few minutes after you order. Onto the food. Like I said, we ALWAYS order the carne asada fries. I have been ordering the flautas and my wife orders the quesadilla. Meat varies on what we feel like eating that night but that is our usual order. It is plenty for two people. Lastly, we ask for extra orange sauce, just because it is that good, and take it home. I don't really know anything else regarding their menu, but I would assume it is pretty good. Solid choice for a quick meal if you don't feel like cooking at night. read more

I love the food here! I have been here many times. I usually get the super/regular tacos with chorizo or Al pastor. The meat is very flavorful and pretty fresh. I have also had the - super quesadilla with chorizo - regular nachos - monster dip with chips And all were very good. The shrimp tacos and the wet burritos are not my favorite here. They have a fresh salsa bar which is always well stocked. This is a great casual Mexican restaurant. The service is always super friendly. The place seems to be run by a family and they seem like very nice people. This has quickly become my go to for a quick meal. read more

The food is really good! I've had the Mr. Nacho Fries twice and both times I was so good. The tacos are also good, but I just don't like the tortilla it come on, but that's okay. The burrito is also very filling and delicious. They also have a salsa bar where you can get your own salsa. I've only tried the mild one and it's super good. I think I've finally found my go-to taco place! Very happy to have stumbled upon this, at the suggestion of my hubby, and in accordance with our recent quest to find delicious, affordable street tacos. I only had the chicken tacos, but my husband swore by the el pastor, he claimed definitely worth the project of admission. They have a salsa bar sans pico de gallo, but if you'd like some, you can pay an extra quarter and they have it prepped fresh in the back. Looking forward to coming back on $1 Taco Tuesday and getting some yumminess for even less. I just hope the lines are incredibly terrible. read more

I want to start off by saying the food here is pretty good. I've been frequenting this place monthly for almost a year now and have had good experiences until now. This negative review is to educate both visitors and the owner(s) about some inconsistent policies in place. As mentioned earlier, I've been coming here for about a year and always order the exact same thing and ask for the exact same number of sauces (I'm weird like that). However, this week, upon receipt of my food, I was informed there would be an additional charge of ~$1 (4 sauces). This was a surprise to me since I've ordered and requested the same thing 2-3x per month over the last 11 months and this had never come up. I was surprised but accepted the policy and agreed to pay for the sauces. However, when being rung up, I was informed there was a minimum for a credit card transaction. Unfortunately, given the process of ordering, I had already paid for my food when placing the order so I didn't have anything else I wanted to purchase to meet this minimum. Shame on me, I also didn't carry cash. I asked if this could be waived and was directed to the manager who happened to be standing next to the cashier. The response I got was that this was a long standing policy and there was no room to budge. The manager pointed to a paper that stated the details of this policy ~3 feet to the right of the register, which I unfortunately had never noticed. I did my best to explain that I would have happily paid for the sauces had I known of this policy when I was being rung up but the response I received was that this policy was firm. I'm not one to make a scene after making my case so I asked for the number of sauces I was allowed to receive with my order based upon their policy and left. I am very aware I'm not a whale of a customer and the amount I spend at this establishment is probably insignificant to them (I visit Mr. Taco 2-3x a month and spend ~$50+ a month). Maybe I'm being unreasonable but I believe the situation could have been handled in a way that would make me impressed by Mr. Taco versus feeling slighted by them. If you made it to this part of the review, I'd love to know if you disagree. Shoot me a message if you think I'm being unreasonable. Came here specifically for the carne asada fries. I literally just hopped off the plane to visit my family, and my boyfriend takes me to Mr. Taco. Shoot, I'm not complaining for my first meal back in California! Mr. Taco's fries are similar in texture and shape to McDonald's fries... Crispy and soft, small and cute, these fries are bangin' and perfect to eat with the goopy deliciousness. Their carne asada fries come with the meats, sour cream, melted cheese, and guac. Do yourself a huge favor and ask for the special orange sauce. It's comparable to La Vic's but with an added spicy kick! This is definitely a "treat yoself" meal to enjoy with ALL of the toppings. I usually don't like sour cream and I asked for it on the side, but for whatever reason this dish definitely needed it. I piled it on, as well as the orange sauce, and it was like a party in my mouth. I would say to try it if you haven't, simply because I like their quality of fries since it's not too starchy or crispy. Just perfect. read more

Food was disgusting and cold and tasted like it was left out. All the staff that are women are extremely rude and have attitude problems not welcoming at all. David the owner wasn't bad, but wasn't necessarily professional or pleasant to deal with either. Got my refund back but they insisted I bring the left over food that I didn't eat and my receipt which was no problem on my end. I got my refund but it felt like I had to pull teeth to get my money back . If you're looking for great Mexican food with great service, and a clean environment this is definitely not the place for you. read more

This is a small taqueria tucked into the corner at Decoto and Fremont. This was my third time here. First time I ordered food for the fam; Super burrito, enchilada plate (special), and tacos, They have a daily $10 special. At least I think it's $10 since that's what the sign said all 3 times I went. I posted a photo of the chicken super burrito I most recently ordered. It comes with your choice of meat/beans, and sour cream, cheese, guac, and pico. The meat was fresh and perfectly cooked. Tender and crispy. Only reason for the 4 stars is because I like my burritos with a lot salsa. In fact, I base a good burrito on how the salsa tastes. They have a lil salsa bar with 4 different types at the counter. Each time I've been in they have 2-3 small cups out. I felt bad asking for more cups and when I filled them up, I couldn't help but feel judged. If they were generous with they salsa, and orange salsa would be a bonus, they'd get a solid 5 stars and be my go to taqueria. read more

Hello, ok the food here is amazing and the service is wonderful. Janette the cashier always has a welcoming smile . I love the tamales (pollo). What I do is I order my enchiladas meal for tonight and two tamales with a 16oz rice for lunch tomorrow. It is Devine. I highly recommend this place. It was one of those days that I didn't feel like cooking and all I wanted something simple to fill up my stomach. It's been a while since I had a fish burrito so I sent my husband here to get me one. He also came home with an order of nachos with carnitas on top. I thought the fish burrito was good. The fish was perfectly cooked and it tasted fresh. However, the nachos was just okay. The chips were extremely soggy and the carnitas was bland. I normally don't have cravings for Mexican food so it'll be a while before I order something from here again. read more

Came here for National Taco Day and they were quite busy. Don't worry though cuz the line moves fast. They have an orange sauce here that's kinda smokey. Super yummy with their burritos. We tried quesadillas, 5 $1 tacos (for taco Tuesday), and some amazing bacon nacho chips (we substituted chips for their fries). Hubby loved the last order. Their carnitas is very moist and yummy. The al pastor and carne asade a tad bit dry for my taste.....i'm not sure due to the volume if it sat too long on the grill.... but we will stick to carnitas the next time we come around. Came here to try to satisfy my mexican food craving, ordered the carne asada fries and overall it was pretty decent. the price was fair and portion was on par with the price, only complaint is that my fries were drenched in some sort of ... wet..watery.. substance.. couldn't really tell what it was, some sort of mixture of melted sour cream maybe with water? i literally had to use a spoon to scoop out all the liquid to get to the fries... not sure if that's normal.. mexican food is a bit limited around these areas so I can't really complain to much I guess, looking forward to trying some of their other stuff in the future, hopefully it doesn't come so watery though read more

Mr. Taco is just an average Mexican restaurant with decent food and serves up morning breakfast, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, flautas, nachos (including French Fry style), quesadillas, traditional sides, etc. Nothing too special about this place, but I have to admit that their burritos are enormous and I can't imagine how large their super and double varieties are (you can get your burritos chimichanga style or covered with sauce for an extra charge, $1 and $1.50, respectively). I ended up ordering a regular carne asada burrito (no sauce and not fried) with pico de gallo, rice, and black beans inside (you can get a choice of black, refried or pinto beans, all lard-less so the sign claimed on the giant menu). The burrito was flavorful, but it had so much tomato from the salsa and overabundance of beans with very little meat (very skimpy). Where's the beef?! I also ordered a couple of small tacos (pollo asado and carnitas). Again, not very generous with the amount of meat (the chicken was well seasoned, but the pork was dry and fried a little too much) and I was definitely eating more tortilla than protein. Also, it looks like they no longer offer free in-store made tortilla chips with your food order which is a bummer. In the end, it was their famous creamy orange sauce (I think it has a Habanero base) which saved the day for my ordered items by adding some really good spice to the food. I think I would have been more satisfied if they sold Choco Tacos for dessert (that was a joke and Choco Tacos are disgusting, LOL). Perhaps today was just an off day since I did order food pretty close to closing time (6:00 PM on Sundays), but I'm willing to give Mr. Taco another try and order their enchiladas and especially the nacho fries which I hear is pretty good. We came here purposely for the Carne Asada Fries and had it for take out. The service was a bit slow as our take out took a while to come out. We ordered a mexican drink while we waited in the car for our order. The pineapple flavored drink was okay. Nothing special. When we got home we looked at our take out order and it was just not presentable and quite messy. Just take a look at the picture. The fries were so soggy and the meat was not tasty at all. The sour cream and guacamole overpowered the fries. It was only a 10 minute drive from the place to the house so it couldn't have been because it was sitting out. I probably wouldn't try this place again. We couldn't even finish this plate amongst the 3 of us because it was that bad. The portion to price and quality of food was not worth it in my opinion. New business that took over the well-known "Iguanas" (Home of the Burritozilla) featured on Man VS. Food. (for their 5lb burrito). Anyway this place is named differently, but apparently just different management, and same cooks?(someone correct me if im wrong) But that's what I was told. Ordered their version of the burritozilla. But actually its pretty much bigger than the original. The burritozilla (from Iguanas) was basically 3 super burritos. This place features an on-menu burrito which is double the size of a super burrito called the "Ginormous". OR you can have a feast and order a "Double-Ginormous" which was off menu, and being we like trying the off menu stuff; this is what we ordered. And it was worth every penny. Good for social media and taking pictures of it for the hype. But Taste wise: Its definitely good. & definitely going to come back and enjoy some normal sized burritos if im going by myself. read more

Got some good size burritos but did feel that they put WAYY to much black beans. It was overpowering. I like balance and it wasn't that balanced. The flavor was there but I think they might have been running out of rice or something and so they filled it with the black beans. I had the super burrito - shredded beef and ordered some chicken quesadilla. Chicken was pretty large and good. The sauces were good but I wish it was hotter! I love hot sauce! First time coming to this establishment since it was Iguanas.. we called around looking for a decent "taco tuesday" spot and Mr Taco was the only one near our place in Union City that had "specials".. so glad we came in.. choose from 8 different meats for the $1 taco special (lengua is still $2).. I went with one Carne asada, one carnitas, one barbacoa, and one lengua.. really flavorful meats, but carnitas takes the crown this round.. we initially had ordered for eat-in, but changed it for to-go when we realized that beer wasnt served.. went to the liquor store 3 doors down and got a 12pk of pacifico to go with the tacos.. plus a star for them packing our tacos in plates including our respective individual orders.. other places would have wrapped them according to meats, making us divide them ourselves.. my sister went a bit nuts with the salsa bar.. the medium salsa was the most empty, so we assumed it was the most popular.. asked the cook if she had more, but it was the end of the night, so I guess they didn't want to put more out.. no worries, cause the hot was really tasty, and not overly spicy.. got some orange sauce to go and based on my recent la vic's orange sauce experience, I'd have to give the orange sauce nod to Mr Taco this time..
