Nice local coffee shop and had the avocado toast to accompany my caffe latte. Close to the hotels and busy during the weekdays with business crowd and local hoteliers but worth the wait. I am back in cali after my weekend trip to Seattle. I stayed right across the street from Mr.West at one of the Hyatts. I wish I could walk over to Mr. West every other morning and try one of the menu items. The foods we had on my visit were OUTSTANDING. I had the Turkish Eggs while my friend had the Summer Yogurt. Sounds simple enough but each component of the dishes were thoughtfully created and simply DELISH! The next day I ordered a blueberry cream cheese hand pie, something I would never order but i had trust in Westie that he'd deliver.. and he did! ^_^ I am knocking off a star for their lack of efficiency. There is one cashier and between every customer, the cashier would leave to make drinks, clean glasses, put glasses away, etc for about 4 minutes. Mind you there are about 20 guests in line waiting while she does this! I can understand trying to slow down the line so the kitchen catch up or because there is limited seating or something.. but neither of which seemed like the case. There was also not a shortage of staff ... Anyway, maybe i am missing something here. All that aside, workers were friendly, vibes were on point and I would DEF come back again! read more

Wow was this place amazing. I joined work friends for breakfast here the last day of our conference in Seattle. We were staying across the street at the Hyatt downtown. They ate breakfast here all 3 days, and I completely understand why. The avocado toast was amazing. The scone was so good that I bought another one to carry around with me all day to take as a snack on the plane on the way home. (I'm a chocolate person, but this scone is one of the best pastries I've ever had). Really outstanding place! read more

On my last day in Seattle we came here on a rainy day to catch breakfast before heading to the airport. What a cute little cafe. This nice brunch/lunch spot has a beautiful indoor space with tons of seating and is order-at-the-counter. It can get a bit crowded and the line moves slow sometimes. They have a large menu with a variety of options, from food to coffee to wine. It is a bit on the pricey side for being a casual spot, but everything looks very aesthetic and is high quality. I tried the orange iced latte, which is a seasonal item and was delicious-- you could taste a light orange flavor. The grilled cheese was pretty good but quite heavy and greasy. The roasted potatoes are tasty and well seasoned with lots of herbs and dip. They have a lot of toasts and sandwiches, which are great for a casual lunch. Gorgeous little spot. I swear every place in Seattle truly brings the outdoors in. What do I mean? Plants and wooden accents, and huge windows to enjoy watching (people/climate/etc.) I came in for a quick breakfast on the way to a conference and the service was efficient and polite! Though I'm not a maple lover the salted maple coffee (I forgot the name) was quite pleasant for me. The coffee art is culture! My companion enjoyed a salmon toast that she wouldn't stop raving about. On this street soaked morning, I sipped my favorite yet least ordered Cortado: equal amount of warm milk and espresso, usually two shots. It's also called Gilbraltar for the glassware used to serve this drink. Why least ordered? Simple, few cafés offer. To my delight, it's prominently on the menu. Of course, I couldn't resist the Almond croissant. It felt quite Seattle having the warm croissant, enjoyed the perfectly balanced coffee, and watch rivulets on asphalts outside the window. I wish they had 2 lines: one for food/dining in and the other only for coffee takeout. I ordered the Root Beer Cream Coffee, and it was definitely an interesting taste. The food looks beautiful but sadly fell short of flavor. The avocado toast came on a nice thick cut of multi-grain bread and a generous amount of creamy avocado, but it was tasteless- no hint of the promised curry or lime. I paid extra for a soft-boiled egg, but the one that arrived was very hard boiled. We also split the strawberry ricotta toast that had nice flavor, but barely any ricotta. Maybe just an off morning? Their seattle fog is delicious, it's cinnamony, and has hints of lavender. I wished there was more lavender and more tea-y. The grilled cheese was super good comes with a small side salad with small pickles. I loved the lemon poppy scone, comes with sugary icing. I wouldn't get the apple pie again, it was good but reminded me a little of a McDonald's apple pie. And the pita and hummus was also yummy, the pita came out hot and soft. The hummus was also delicious made with cranberry and pomegranate quite a combo. Overall my food experience was delicious 4.5 star. In terms of atmosphere this is a great place to catch-up with a friend. But not ideal for work date, it gets a little loud and Wi-Fi can be slow throughout the day. read more

When staying nearby in Downtown Seattle, Mr. West Cafe Bar became my go-to coffee place for my trip. Their coffee was absolutely wonderful, and during the winter holiday season, I could not get enough of the delicious eggnog latte. For coffee and ambiance, this place is a 5/5! The servers were lovely too. Okay, so why a 3/5? The food was not great. I really wanted to love it like the coffee, but everything I tried was very average. The chia pudding had no flavor. I love chia pudding, but it just tasted so bland. I also tried one of the toasts, which was brought on the wrong bread, and although it sounded like an autumn delight, it also just had no taste. My friend did give me a bit of her scone (I think it was pear flavored), which was divine. Thus, I would recommend Mr. West for great ambiance, a delicious cup of coffee or speciality coffee drink, and/or wine/beer and a snack rather than for a meal. read more

It was fairly busy all weekend and into the beginning of the week, without many seats available Sunday afternoon. The Seattle fog was very tasty, the matcha was more unremarkable. The smoked salmon toast was fabulous and I ended up getting it twice while I was here. Perfectly satisfying and piled high with ample salmon and fresh bright greens on a delicious sourdough with a nice chive cream cheese base. A very nice option for a quick bite and you can order online to skip the line and do takeout. The wait for online orders for pickup was 30-40 minutes around midday, so best for those who plan a little ahead. read more

The oatchata is a seasonal drink so if you go in December, give it a try! The avocado toast #2 seemed to lack depth. It consisted of the basics (avocado, arugula, sourdough bread, etc.) and I would love to see balsamic vinegar and/or olive oil with it. That could just be my preference though.
