Since MRK changed its hours to dinner only and gave their menu a remake, it hasn't been the same. The limited menu does not appear to offer "dinner" options, it's mostly sandwich/salads that resemble a lunch menu. Not to mention their best sandwich- the short rib was taken off the menu. :-( I hope the owners come up with a new strategy whether it be happy hour or a real dinner menu, as the service is still great and it's one of the few options in the southern part of town. read more

I saw that they serve marrow bones, so I had to go try it. The bone marrow was great as was the rest of the food. The amount of marrow in the bone serving was a bit too low. The short rib sandwich and the fries are great. They serve unique sodas and have a great selection of beers. The servers are great. read more

I was a big fan before COVID hit but have still enjoyed takeout in the past year because their food is so spectacular and I want them to thrive! Something that has been offered in ordering over the phone is their soup of the day. I hadn't ever noticed that they had soup. I'm telling you, I was sold after trying their cauliflower soup! I've tried several others, and each one is absolutely delicious. They do these unusual combinations that are absolutely mouthwatering, truly the best soup I've had in my life. I live down the street and this is my second fav local restaurant. The eclectic menu has something for Vegans, Meat eaters, just about everybody. The Brussels Sprouts are amazing, seasoned to perfection. The local vibe is spot on and you can sense each of the owner/chefs has his signature part in the menu. Cori was very attentive & accommodating, she offered me three craft beer tasting (complimentary). I started with the Cream Ale that was crisp with a full body. It was a GREAT pair for my AHI POKE appetizer. The AHI POKE was amazing!! Later, I learned it was voted #1 in So Cal. One of the owners, asked mean out the AHI POKE -- how often does that happen? I shared it tasted like AHI POKE from Hawaii - delicious!! The restaurant has a very quaint & relaxing feel. It breathes San Clemente without the touristy surfboards. What a great addition to San Clemente. MRK is a locals run/owned restaurant with food that will surely not disappoint even the snobbiest of foodies. Since they opened end of last year, Ive been there probably a half dozen times and tried something different every time. My favorites thus far include the Braised Short Rib Sandwich, Tuscan toast and Vietnamese Sticky Wings. They've got a great list of constantly changing beers and IPA's and the best part is that they're ALL $5! And my gf is IN LOVE with the Beignet's! The décor is urban but the vibe is still that of the old San Clemente beach town that everyone knows and loves. Every time I've been there it's been busy... but not so busy that it takes 20 minutes to get your food. And finally, parking! One of the few restaurants in town with a decent parking lot. Sounds silly - but I will avoid a lot of restaurants in town just because parking is a pain. Maybe that means I need to stop eating so much. Haha Great restaurant. 5 stars read more

Stopped in on our way to LA, the last day of our road trip from VA. It was Valentines Day, so we were glad to get a booth. The server was great, really friendly, super helpful, and efficiently fast without rushing us. The food was great, tasty burger and fries for my fella, and my Thai salad with ahi poke added was more than I could eat, and delicious. We shared a bowl of lobster bisque to start.
