probably the most overpriced place I've ever been to. for starters the service was terrible, the waitress continuously kept walking away whilst we were speaking and didn't return for long periods of time, she brought out our food at random and didn't clean our table once with dirty dishes just sitting at the end even when she came back with drinks. Sunday early dinner and this place is packed; it's always packed and they don't take reservations! We didn't have to wait long and had a 9 person party but they offered us two booths so we could be close to everyone but seated faster and we took it. The food here is always good.. This time I went vegetarian, PANKO EGGPLANT PANINI Panko Crusted Eggplant layered in Ciabatta Bread with Roasted Red Pepper, Fresh Mozzarella, Spinach, and Balsamic Glaze, served with French Fries or House Green Salad (menu description). So I love truffle and chose to sub the fries/salad for truffle fries and would not recommend as the fries were actually garlic fries with a slight hint of truffle. The kids all got the massive and they tell me delicious Oreo milkshake, they tell me it tasted like Oreo cookies as it should, yum!! The Mt. Kisco Diner is my all-time favorite diner. The huge menu, excellent food, attentive but non-intrusive service and reasonable prices leave nothing to criticize. A very good diner. Wouldn't say the best, but good. The portions here are big, and the meals were fresh. Started with the Mac and Cheese balls, which were amazing. It was different then I've had before, as it came on top of marinara sauce. I got the Tuna Melt, and thought it tasted very fresh. What surprised me most was how fresh the side of produce was- the tomato and lettuce. My boyfriend got the Superman Sub, which had... a lot. Mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, bacon, and vodka sauce. He devoured it! We both had enough for leftovers. We ended the meal with a Cap'n Crunch milkshake which in one word was amazing. Had to update my review because we checked in at 7:20 to see if they were open on Christmas Eve, and they said they were open and told us they close at 8:59. We got there 1 hour before closing and they had the front staff tell us that because they were "slow" - they were not, they were absolutely packed with tons of wait staff working - that they were closing early. We reminded them that we called to check if they were open just a little while before and they said they were open, and I could tell that they felt embarrassed. I was frustrated obviously because I'm disabled and even getting in and out of the car was tough, so to make my way over there an hour before closing to be shown the door was a major waste of time and a literal pain. read more

They still offer very good food, even if they are overpriced. My issue with the diner, besides the fact that they haven't figured out how to do takeout orders, which are almost always wrong, cold or not nearly ready when you go to pick them up, is their treatment of others. I've learned a lot in recent years about how businesses should treat their employees and their customers. Yes, it was the Mount. Kisco diner that just two years ago made headlines for failing to pay their employees $900,000. Yes, $900,000! The employees sued and the diner had to pay up. That situation rubbed many folks in the area the wrong way. Nonetheless in time, the overpriced diner returned to glory with crowds on the weekends. Recently, I dared ordering takeout again. I was told to pick up the food in 15 to 20 minutes, I arrived in 20 minutes, then after sitting for another 20 minutes, noticing that the diner was not at all busy, I asked the lady manager that evening (daughter or niece of the folks that built the place) about the delay, to which she snapped: Don't blame me, I don't work in the kitchen! I didn't take the order, what can I do about it!?" Lots of "attitude," but no professionalism. I'm positive the current owner Harry Georgeiu (who's always been nothing but polite) would have said: "sorry about that, let me go check on it again." I realized that she, like many folks are totally unsuited to be in a managerial position. When I told her that after being a regular customer for years, I would not be coming back, she made it clear that she didn't give a damn. While the food tases good, there's something very sour about some of the business practices of the Mount Kisco Diner. As I mentioned earlier - it all comes down to how employees and customers are treated or mistreated. The flavors of everything we had were equally as amazing from the entrees to the mega shakes and desserts. The cherry on top was the friendliness of the staff. Stopped on our drive back from Connecticut, as it was not too far from the highway. We were very happy we stopped. Despite the restaurant being very busy on a Monday morning we were seated right away. I actually got a lunch and breakfast dish, the grilled cheese was amazing and my omelette was even better. I've been DYING to come to this diner after seeing the crazy (but beautiful) milkshakes and rainbow cookies and comfort food concoctions all over Instagram! The buffalo sauce flavor was a little too mild and underwhelming. The grilled cheese was very boring and didn't have much cheese on it to make it "instagrammable". There were only like 2/3 little wings on the sandwich was disappointing and made the whole thing just "ok". -The rainbow cookie milkshake on the other hand was out of this world. There was at least 5-7 inches of thick whipped cream piled up on top of the glass. The whipped cream itself filled me up!! It was absolutely delicious and the rainbow cookies that came with it were amazing. That was definitely the best part of my experience. Ok, I heard about the di er on FB, tried once and couldn't get in. Now we have managed ot. Order drench onion soup, and I had to send it back to be heated up, cold cheese, and barely warm soup. Husband order one of the specialties:fried roast beef wrap, and i the protein plate of lemon pepper grilled chicken with broccoli and brown rice with black beans, as i can't have anything fried due to a shrimp allergy and they fry everything in the same vat. Ok, so taste wise, lemon pepper chicken good taste and not dry, broccoli cold, rice and beans was mush. The fried wrap, he jad to put ketchup on it to add some tatse. He said onion rings were ok. I agree with another write-up that owners are very smart, make a couple of different things, and name them and them on Instagram. It is just a diner and no great shakes on food. Updated review. My teenage sons went in while we looked for parking. They would not seat them until we came in. We all sat and waited. My son and i had to run up the street to put money in the meter since there were no spots there. We left our order written for when the waiter would come, so someone else at our table could tell them. We were gone about 10/15 minutes. When we got back they still hadn't taken our tables order... we waited 5 more minutes, and they took the order (20 minutes from when we walked in)... Both of my sons ordered chicken noodle soup to start. One of them was still eating his soup ($4.99/cup) and they took it away... didn't even ask!! More than half was left!! Our food came, it was good, but to be honest at $10 for the Aruba Wrap, the mango should at least be fresh and have more chicken in it!! We like this place, but they are definitely giving you less for your money than in the past. I ordered the waffle fries with my wrap because it doesn't come with any and at $3.99, it should be more than 8 fries!! No joke!! Chicken Caesar wrap is $9.99. We are not talking huge wraps. I came here with a friend who was visiting from out of state because we've been following their Instagram and HAD to try one of their milkshakes. So, we drove an hour from Upstate happily knowing it'd be worth the effort. When we arrived, our first impression was how much the environment just doesn't match the kind of food they sell. It feels like a very stereotypical, bland, middle class restaurant, but definitely not a diner that sells Mac and cheese on tacos and monster milkshakes with entire pieces of cake on top. Well, whatever, it felt clean otherwise so we just brushed it off. The menu is massive! We had a hard time deciding which items we had to try. We appreciated the "Instagram favorites" page and ordered some milkshakes, buffalo Mac and cheese tacos, buffalo French fries, and a crunchy ranch quesadilla. The milkshakes, while quite amazing to look at, when tasted and dissected, are really not all that special. The birthday cake milkshake is basically just sweetened thin milk with a tiny, plain vanilla cake slapped on top. It was frankly not good. The Oreo milkshake was alright, but certainly nothing special. Similarly, the food looked quite splurge-worthy, but when it came to flavor, just turned up really lacking. My quesadilla basically tasted like plain chicken tenders wrapped into a tortilla. I tried to doctor it up with some hot sauce but it at $15 per entree, I expect some real flavor. Then the check came and it was $90 for 3 people. 3 entrees, 2 milkshakes, and a side of fries. $90. Was the food bad? No, but it certainly wasn't good or even above average. The milkshakes were definitely not worth $15 whatsoever and tasted about on par with a fast food milkshake. The service was pretty good, which doesn't seem to be most people's experience judging from other reviews. The parking situation is a mess, had to basically stalk another customer who was leaving at 2pm on a Friday to find a spot. I'd rate this a pretty solid 2.5 stars for a creative menu, decent service, and an obviously amazing social media manager- what they don't seem to get is that if the quality doesn't match the hype, you won't be getting return customers (I know I won't be coming back). read more
