Small and practical, the location has been in business since 1970 and it is popular for good reason. Give their menu a scan. Very complete with traditional Mexican dishes and some Americanized versions. Flavor dominates. We both had his favorite, Paco's Special. They have a mini-Paco which we had and it was plenty. I challenge you to take on a full Paco's Special. The mini was huge. Full of slow-cooked chili verde, which are pork chunks simmered in a green sauce. Beans were added along with cheese, tomatoes, onions and guac. OMG...it was so good. Senior citizen discount and on Tuesdays there is a separate menu for seniors. We normally just love eating here! After walking in with our masks on, two ladies followed behind us with no masks on. We were placed on the waiting list with masks on while waiting. The two ladies did not have masks on and when I asked the front counter "are masked required because the front door says that". Yes she replied, I suggested she ask them to put them on. Instead they asked all of us exit and wait outside and they will call us. One of the ladies walked through the restaurant with no mask to the restroom while the other exited with us. I'm extremely frustrated that nothing was done and when it was their turn to be seated, they did the same ....no mask and walked through the restaurant plus a busy courtyard before being seated. If we want Covid to end, please follow protocols. I have reported this to the Environmental Health Board, Management, Vacaville Fire and Vacaville Police Departments that If anyone tests positive at this restaurant....it's their fault. read more

Brought my niece and her boyfriend Cyle, who's wheel chair bound. He really needs to use the bathroom. Luckily he could arm his way in there. In fact he said if he got his wheelchair in there he would never get it out. The food is good as always and the service is good but it's too bad that they don't have any rest rooms for people with a wheelchair or any other issues that might handicap them. Been going to downtown location for years. It was obvious Danny was not there. Rude service from time we walked in at 7:15 pm. "Last one, turn off the sign," as we walked in. The young gal who served us was eating chips at front counter. (Dropped my dinner too so had to remake it.) Felt rushed from moment we sat down. Older serve came later to get our money (cash) "she needs to go home and close out the drawer. She made a point to reconfirm with us "we are already closed." There were 3-4 other tables there when we arrived and another table still occupied after closing time. As we left, the older server was busy on her phone. "Have a nice evening." Made the mistake of ordering two carne asada super burritos and mild sauce on the side; total out the door was $48 and some change! We've been going to Murillo's on Merchant Street since the 70's; when family and friends are coming through town for a visit, this has been our GOTO place...sadly, not anymore. While I'll take the blame for not realizing a carne asada super burrito is now $22, we each had to spit out bites that were full of gristle. As everyone who has been a regular of Murillo's forever, their mild sauce is served warm and has a smooth consistency sometimes containing a slice of onion; instead our four sauces were spicy, contained seeds, etc. Sorry Murillo's but our 50+ year relationship has just ended. read more

We've been looking for a good Tex-Mex place similar to what we had in the South and East Coast. I had high hopes but this was just so so. The chimichanga was huge! The salsa was heated and tasted like warm marinara. I liked that it was thin but it needs to be cold and have some cilantro and maybe some garlic and cumin added, not like spaghetti sauce. The rice and beans were good. The entrees lacked flavor. I'm giving three stars because it was all tasted fresh and the service was good. I also liked that it's a sit down place and not one where you have to order at a counter. Therr is a nice outdoor patio in the back. There is also additional parking in the back that made it easy to get in and out of. It has potential if they up the flavor some. read more

Husband got the beef burrito with rice and beans. It was full of beef but had none of the pepper onion, so don't know if that changed, but he was happy. My only slight complaint, we were charged 14.99 each for one item plate at lunch time. We didn't get menus since we have been going here for 40 years we knew what we wanted. Got super hungry after an appointment and didn't want to go home to cook because it was already late. I'm glad this place was recommended by my husband! Shout out to Luisa (she only works on Saturday/Sunday) for an impeccable customer service! She's was very sweet and she handle that whole entire room by herself. She didn't miss a thing at all and she made sure that her customers would leave that place with a smile on their faces and a happy full tummy. The appetizers (chips and salsa) were always full and drinks were filled. Our food didn't take long to prep and served, along with a huge smile on her face! IMO she needs a raise! Stopped on a whim - glad we did! The traffic was horrendous on 80 on a Sunday nite, and my husband and I saw Murillo's and decided to stop. Ashley, our waitress, was wonderful, going over the menu, making suggestions. I got the shrimp fajitas al la carte,my husband got the pozole. We were both really happy - there were at least 10 big, beautifully grilled shrimp in my dish, loads of onions and peppers, a full salad with avocado and four flour tortilllas. My husband's soup was wonderful - came with a plate of extras like cabbage, radishes and lime - very nice pork. The margaritas were nice - not too sweet. Spicy salsa was good. Ordered appetizers a few weeks in advance of my backyard wedding. Called a week before the wedding to confirm pickup time, etc., and they could not find my order. Made the order again and Anna assured me it would be ready. She even left me a voicemail confirming the info and pricing. On the day of my wedding one of my bridesmaids stopped in to pick up the order and they did not have it!!!! I forwarded my bridesmaid the voicemail from Anna and she played it for the staff and they had zero response. My bridesmaid had no clue what I had ordered since her job was just to pick it up. Yelp has a list of "where not to go" collections and Murillo's came up and I checked to see what other negative reviews had been written about this place. I noticed that mine was no longer there. An unauthorized use of my Visa was used in another state after eating at Murillo's. My debit/credit card number was used as a manual point of sale transaction (back three numbers entered after all the front numbers manually entered), after eating at this restaurant the next day. This place was the only place I'd been to that took my card away to swipe it. I gave more details in my initial review. Besides the food being over-priced and bland (just like the other reviewers state), I'm always surprised when friends tell me they eat at Murillo's. Maybe they just don't know any better flavor-wise? It's a long standing establishment in the area, so I believe people are mostly loyal or nostalgic being some Vacaville staple alongside the freeway. So I really got to express you must know what you like to eat and how you like it served. easy lettuce ,easy sauce etc etc. My wife is a picky eater she asked for easy lettuce and everything on the side she knows what she likes and likes to build it herself, normally it comes stacked with lettuce no meat .I personally don't like cheese on my beans cause it winds up on my chin. And I don't like my enchilada drowning in sauce .so if you have eaten Mexican food and you know what you like don't be afraid to tell waiter. Lunch was really good try not to go outside the your box of your likings . This is just my opinion. I had beef enchilada a la cart with a side of beans no cheese ,easy sauce on enchilada. Should've stayed away with the reviews, but not much was open on the Sunday of memorial day weekend. I'd give it a -3 stars if I could. I have NEVER had fajitas served on a cold dinner plate with most likely restaurant frozen pre cut meat chicken & beef COLD!!! The whole plate was Luke warm at best. Went to the wrong restaurant by accident! What a mistake that was. My granny wanted a burrito and she said one street, as I misheard as another street. I order a super burrito w/shrimp as the meat option, which the lady taking my order told me it was an extra charge of $4. I assumed it would be about $9 + the extra $4. Okay sure, I know that sometimes that is a factor i.e Panda Express charges an add fee for shrimp, cool. When she rang up the order she said the total was $20! To be clear, I HATE, when reviewers complain about prices when eating but anyone with common sense would say $20 is a little bit pricey for a super burrito? I mean not even chipotle is charging that. I live in San Francisco and NEVER have paid that much. Any-who I bought it. My grandmother said it was SUPER bland and flavorless. Not to mention I asked for the gauc and sour cream to be placed inside the burrito, for it to be cut in half and the don't fully wrap their burritos. They serve it like a crepe which I also found odd. The mild "salsa" was literally tomato juice almost water with no flavor what so ever. The only reason this is a two and not a one is that the Food was pretty good. We had the chicken enchilada, chicken tacos and pinto beans. The chips were good and one salsa was good-the other was marinara like/not my favorite. Unfortunately good food didn't offset the mediocre/poor service. The young people behind the counter were much more interested in each other than the customers. We weren't greeted when we arrived or when we left, but they seemed to have plenty to say to each other. I even overheard the the girl handling to go orders and cashiering, be rude to a customer on the phone and after hanging up a second later, brag to the boy about it. He was practically dancing with her behind the counter at one point. It was actually very sweet but it's not sweet when it's at the detriment of good service. There's lots of good Mexican restaurants around here, with good food and GOOD service. We'll choose another one next time. read more
