There was a bit of a line on a Saturday morning but the wait was overall 10 minutes or less, so not bad. I ordered egg and cream cheese on my bagel. I was charged for an "egg sandwich" and bacon came on my sandwich. Not sure if that was a mistake or they don't allow simply egg on the bagel, but I guess I'm not complaining either way because it was really good. Because I ordered egg on the bagel, my order took longer than most to come out. About 10 orders came out before mine did, while my friend who ordered just cream cheese and an iced coffee got his right away. There are several tables here, and so a lot of people were enjoying their breakfast. A huge, almost overwhelming selection of fillings, and variety of bagels. Although the bagels themselves are very good, I was twice disappointed. First I ordered sausage, onions and cheese. Asking for it be toasted I would have thought it would all be warm. Instead I got a cold slab of cheese and raw red onion, not nice caramelized onions I was expecting to go with the sausage. Want a slice of lettuce to go with your order, that's another $1. Drinks from the fridge are pricey to, even for New York. These sandwiches at HUGE - so prepared to be in a food coma after downing a whole one (but well worth it!) The inside is soft and it perfectly allows the spread to coat it. My review for Murray's is largely due to the variety options of delicious spreads. Some of my favorites are the lox spreads and jalapeño/pepper ones - seriously the jalapeño was so so delicious. Sometimes bagel spots can be a bit nuts in terms of the waiting area, but this one is super organized. You go straight to the back when you walk in (like Liberty Bagels), put in your order and pay (they take cards and Apple/GPay), and then find a spot to wait. There's a bench by the front door which is convenient for waiting if you're trying to grab and go. The variety of spreads and bagels is awesome. I love that they have whole wheat everything and tofu cream cheese. Definitely helps when you're looking for something on the healthier side! The bagels themselves are delicious. Murray Bagel gives me the vibes of a good, classic local bagel joint that is not flashy, but still gets the job done. I've been coming to you since 1994 and in the last couple years the cream cheese gets thinner and thinner. I used to love going there and enjoying a bagel with sun-dried cream cheese, and a slice of Swiss but now I rarely go because of the lack of cream cheese. Today I went to get a half a pound of cream cheese in a container that is a half a pound. The girl actually weighed the container which I've never seen in New York City or anywhere else and stopped when it weighed half a pound. I ordered pickup from Murray's directly on their website. The photo on their site showed a bagel with tuna, sliced lettuce and sliced tomato. However, there was no lettuce or tomato on my bagel. This didn't seem to be a slip up, because the same thing happened to the sandwiches my partner ordered. This felt like false advertisement! A bagel which I already thought was expensive, now feels like a big rip off if it doesn't actually include the toppings. I didn't go to the storefront for pickup myself, so I can't speak to the service. Otherwise, the bagel itself was pretty good! Definitely on par with NY bagels and better than some "ok" ones I've had here. However, there are so many great bagel spots, so I don't think I'd return here. The service can be atrocious when you order ahead for pickup. I've ordered ahead, walked into the shop 10 minutes later, and still have to wait another 10-15 mins for a bagel with shmear while people that just walked in are being served. I don't understand it. The ugly: worst chicken salad I've had before in my life. Just nasty. Large chunks of chicken coated with Mayo with nothing else. Shameful portion for the $8 I paid. I'm bummed out about this place. It had a long line which is normally a good sign. However it was not worth the wait at all. First they had poor COVID precautions. There was a sign for 7 people to go inside at a time but no one was helping enforce or regulate the policy. As a result there were a lot of people inside waiting to order or to receive their food. They also kept the door closed so there was no ventilation and no way to hear whether your order is ready if you want to wait outside. The workers did all have masks on though. After all that, we ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. We walked to Washington Square park to eat it...when we opened up our food we saw they put olive cream cheese instead! We were too far and tired to go back to return the order. I liked the bagels, they were big and they had a nice taste. The people running the place were also very nice and friendly. Yeah it was a bit on the pricey side but you get a lot for what you pay. Most bagelries load up on them to save money in the long run, but this one was so neat that it looked beautiful. I keep trying Murray's, and they keep being a truly mediocre-minus option. I wish there was something better nearby. Today I ordered a classic bagel and lox which was OK/fine, but it really is the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the employees which keeps me away even though I dearly love a lox bagel for lunch. Today, I grabbed a Naked Juice to go along with my lunch. I took a sip while in line and began violently coughing. I have no known food allergies, but something was wrong with this juice. I've literally never had that reaction before. It was scary. I tried again thinking it might have been something in my throat, but the same thing happened. I understand that Murray's might have a "try it, buy it" policy, but it wasn't that I didn't like it - this was making me sick. After a lot of arguing the cashier finally voided the purchase but was rude, condescending, and had to give a snipe of "now you know not to order Naked Juice" as I left, after giving a 15% tip on a takeout order because I felt bad for the situation. I'm pretty generous in my reviews. I'm an easygoing, positive person. Truly only Murray's is consistently this C- of an experience. Why??? There's just no need for every single encounter at this not-cheap bagel joint to be so deeply unpleasant, especially considering the automatic tipping they've got going on now. These guys are making a lot of money on tips, so stop being so aggressively rude, please. I guess I'll try again in another year or two. read more

Excellent bagels. I love NYC bagels and get one every weekend at my favorite Brooklyn bagel place but this weekend I tried Murray's and loved it. I got the multigrain bagel with Scallion Tofu Cream Cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion.
