So tragically I must've lost Internet connection and the app didn't save my review, which was pretty lengthy when the food was fresh on my mind. I may need another visit to write a good one, but I will say that everything I ate that day was absolutely fantastic and everytime I think of Indian food, Musaafer comes to mind.
Beautiful decor and excellent service. A great place for a celebration or to catch up with friends. The food was good overall, though I wasn't particularly wowed, especially for the price. I also wish some of the dishes had more spice, but that is more of a personal preference! - Mithu's coriander shrimp: Good flavor with hearty sizes of shrimp. - Chaanp: Chargrilled lamb chops that were very tender. - Dum ki ribs: Beef short ribs that were also extremely tender and flavorful. - Malwani fish curry: I had never had sea bass in an Indian curry before, but it paired surprisingly well. The fish was very soft and delicate! - Garlic naan and Bullet naan: Both were good. Get the bullet naan if you want spice/pepper flakes. Overall, I think it's worth checking out if you are looking for an elevated dining experience!
Wow! This restaurant is simply breathtaking with gorgeous decor and the ambiance is next level. The staff is attentive but not super friendly. The vegetable seekh kebab was super flavorful and the texture was great. The laal maas was tender and the sauce was very robust. The butter chicken flight was slightly disappointing due to the chicken being slightly overcooked. The garlic naan was pretty standard and didn't stand out in any way. The mishti doi was beautiful to look at, but the overall taste was nothing special. My diagnosis: go for the fancy decor and the food is pretty good but not amazing.
We had Justin as our server during our second visit to Musaafer, which was just as fantastic as the first (minus the parking situation which was way worse for Mother's Day weekend). Our first dish, the Paani Puri, came out in 10 minutes. My favorite paani was the tamarind, followed by the passion fruit, yogurt, and then guava and mango. I thought the guava was a bit bland at first but it really worked well in the Puri. It took about ~30 minutes for appetizers to come out. Mithu's Coriander Shrimp (4/5): It reminds me a lot of Vietnamese / Thai curry. It's a bit pricey, but would recommend trying it. The sauce went really well with naan. Tandoori Chicken Kulcha (4/5): Delicious filling. The Kashmiri butter and fenugreek butter were very unique to melt on and add flavors. We actually had the most fun dipping the Kulcha in the shrimp sauce (4.5/5 combo haha) Entrees came out at ~50 minutes. Malwani Fish Curry (4.5/5) Inspired by West india and an incredibly tender piece of cod. The curry was very citrus forward and went excellently with naan and biryani rice. Dal Musaafer (5/5) Still fantastic, smoky, and complex. I'll get this every time we come. Jackfruit Biryani (3/5): A surprisingly good replacement texture for chicken, but I felt that it was missing the complexity of the lamb chop biryani. Nimbu Naan (4/5): Comes with three pieces and has a nice lemony flavor. I think I prefer the spice of the bullet naan. We also tried the "Pour me a Slice" cocktail, which was really a unique experience of drinking a pizza. Seriously, you can barely taste alcohol here. It's a truffle award winner but the truffle really comes out as a lingering flavor. It's really like a margarita pizza. Paid with inKind with no issues again. Another really fun experience here!
Updated review here. Tribeni, who is a manager at Musaafer, reached out same day and apologized on behalf of the restaurant and staff for what happened with our cancelled reservation. She was able to get us a table the same night for our original reservation time and it was a great experience, exactly what i expected from a Michelin star restaurant. The staff were super kind and brought over some bubbly for celebrating my husband's promotion. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and gave us great reccs for dinner. Drinks were awesome, my old fashioned was great and my husband's drink came in a tea cup! For dishes, we ordered way too much and had leftovers but that's ok. We got the scallop ceviche, lamb chops, saag paneer, butter chicken experience, onion and cardamom rice, and garlic naan. Everything was honestly so good, i can't pick a favorite! The dessert we got had a stunning presentation as well. I can't wait to try Musaafer in NYC!
Musaafer Houston. What a beautiful and unique experience. We came last year for our anniversary and it was a dinner to remember. We opted for the 12 course tasting menu which was 175$ per person. The ambiance and service were amazing, but I just can't justify spending that much on the food we had. Some honorable mentions were- - Achapam 8/10 pretty good! - Ceviche- 10/10 - Jhol Momo 9/10 - Nihari Birria tacos 10/10 4 of the 12 items were great. The others were just ok. I think next time I come I would just order à la carte and not do the tasting menu. It hurt my wallet
Interior was authentic and awesome. Service was very slow overally and server is not available whenever we need something. Appetizer we ordered was over priced - especially disappointed with Tonka. Knife was so dull and really hard to slice the octopus. Curries were good. Naan was served really really slow but fresh and tastes good. Chicken in curries were so tender and nice. Mushroom shape dessert was the only dish with this high price which was very impressive and want to order one more time.
Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night and had reservations. We were seated after a few minute, but a few minutes later we were told we were in the wrong section and had to move. Our first table was calm and quiet, but the new one was in a corner where servers kept walking by and next to a large private event, so it became very loud. I ordered a lychee martini, which was more on the dry side. We started with the lychee ceviche, and I was disappointed. The menu does not say that it comes with chopped onions and peppers underneath, which really threw me off. I did not enjoy it at all. This should be mentioned on the menu since many people do not eat onions. Also, there are two different menus and it listed the paneer rizala with two different prices, one for $29 and one for $59 which was confusing. For our main dishes, we ordered the paneer rizala and the butter chicken experience. The paneer was fresh and homemade, very soft and crumbly but still good. The sauce had nice flavor. The butter chicken experience was nothing special, and the green sauce was just okay. Dessert was the best part of the night. We had the gulab. The gulab jamun pieces were small but good and averag, but the way the dish was served looked beautiful. The service was good and attentive. Overall, it feels like a one-time visit, and I am not sure I would come back.
April 2026; the Indian food was very good! Flavorful and fresh. Came out fast too! Service was good but not spectacular. Waiter talked too fast explaining all the details of every meal; asked him to repeat a few times. Just felt a little rushed...like they wanted us in and out quickly. Ambiance was excellent; I felt like I was truly in India! Great vibes for a "friends dinner" or romantic date night!
The restaurant is beautiful with so many tiny details such as built in hidden cabinets behind the decor. They are very friendly and offer to provide tours or pictures around the restaurant. We tried the lamb chops, butter chicken experience, lentils, and garlic naan. The butter chicken experience was fun as it had a traditional take plus a Texas version. We haven't had a table-side dal before and it was a fun take with a little pizzazz and crunch.
Musaafer is one STELLAR restaurant. Wow. Such beautiful and incredible food here!!! I wanted to try as much as possible so we just ordered for the table and split everything! First was the Nalli Nihari which was a lamb shank with saffron risotto and paratha. AMAZING. Lamb was perfect and that risotto was sooooo freaking good y'all. And the fact we get risotto AND paratha yes I love carbs thank you. Presented so beautifully too! Next is the Meen Mango Curry which was a sea bass in a mango and pineapple sauce and let me tell you this sauce was magical like the fruit flavors were just exploding I loved it so much. Then we got two more entrees but I forgot to take photos because everything just smelled too good. These are pretty standard Indian dishes but we wanted to see how they fared at an upscale establishment. First, the Palak Paneer, which was pretty good but nothing spectacular. Second, the Butter Chicken Experience which came with an orange and green butter chicken. YES you heard that right, GREEN BUTTER CHICKEN made from green tomatillos. Like thats the work of a genius right there, such a simple concept but soooo so good. For dessert first we tried the Gulab 2.0 which was gulab jamun with a chocolate rose and a fun table-side performance of them pouring hot vanilla vanilla creme on it. The gulab jamun were soft and not overly sweet. The second dessert was the Mishti Doi which was literally unbelievable. It featured these meringue mushrooms on a bed of pistachio and creme "dirt" and that dirt was so insanely soft and delicate but packed such flavor. Ive never had a dessert like it, so so good! Also ended with a Spiced Pumpkin Chai which was delish. Loved it here and need to come back since the menu rotates seasonally!!!
Finally made it to Musaafer after hearing rave reviews from friends, and wow--it lived up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, the place felt special. The ambiance is upscale and beautifully designed, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. We sampled a few dishes and honestly loved every single one. The standout was definitely the butter chicken--actually two different versions on one plate, both rich, flavorful, and totally unique. The kebabs were a hit too (pro tip: you can order half portions, which is great if you want to try more things). The eggplant dish was surprisingly addictive, and the dal makhani was one of the best I've had--creamy, comforting, and packed with flavor. Portions are generous and meant for sharing, so plan accordingly. We wrapped up with the gulab jamun for dessert--perfectly warm, soft, and beautifully presented. Every dish came out looking like a work of art, which really added to the whole experience. Huge shoutout to Arina for the fantastic service--attentive without being overbearing--and to Tribeni Kalita, the manager, who took the time to chat with us at the end. You can tell they care deeply about what they do. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to for special occasions.
Decided to try this Michelin star resturant. Ambience was great. Loved it. Although the place was super busy yet the service was reasonably fast. We ordered pani puri, musaafer daal, jackfruit kofta curry, bread and mishti dhoi. Curries were okay and a bit on the colder side. Mishti dhoi was the best part of the meal. Elegant. Cultural. Divine. I love this restaurant. Upon my first visit, I dined with friends on the patio. The attention to detail given to the outdoor decor is as beautiful as the inner restaurant. My second visit was for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Our server was kind enough to seat us in a semi private room - The Mirror Room. We ordered an array of dishes - lentils, chicken; a lot of flavorful, impressive items. My skeptical dad was pleased. The server offered to make my four year old daughter a child friendly meal, which was so sweet. The overall experience makes me think of this restaurant fondly. My brother and I intend to return for a business meeting and to try more dishes. read more

Wonderful service. Very accommodating when necessary. Beautiful restaurant. My only complaint is the Pani Puri appetizer. that appetizer was so bad OK it was cold potatoes with cold water the way that the server explained it sounded a lot better than what it actually tasted like. I was very disappointed . however I'm glad the main dishes made up for that foul dish. 16$ btw cold potatoes. Please make a note to the workers and staff to remind people before ordering this dish that it is in fact, not a hot dish. 0/10 Everything else was amazing . The fish curry was a mature taste. Very bold flavors. a unique curry for sure. My girlfriend enjoyed the lamb chops however she mentioned that it was a bit spicier than expected still very good. 7/10 She Rated The Lamb Chops. She was not able to taste the meat nor enjoy the taste of a lamb because it was overpowered by the rub of the tadoori seasoning. Still good, heck i enjoyed it. we're definitely gonna have to come back and try this place again give it a second shot and order a different appetizer for crying out loud. My family and I came here for my sister's birthday, and it was quite the experience. Being labeled as a restaurant with a Michelin Star, expectations were high and unfortunately weren't met entirely. Some of the dishes were absolutely outstanding while others were quite the opposite. However, the restaurant is stunning and our server, JP, was super attentive, friendly, and informative about all the dishes. The best dishes of the night were Mithu's Coriander Shrimp and the Dum Ki Ribs. Even though the shrimp was cooked perfectly, the coconut curry stole the show. If I wasn't in a public restaurant, I would've licked the curry straight from the bowl. The curry that came with the short ribs was also delicious. I was so distracted by how addicting the sauce was, I almost forgot about the ribs! (Almost...) The Octopus is also an honorable mention, with the octopus being super tender and macarons and purple potato puree being such a uniquely delicious combination with it. All the colors on the plate were so pretty to look at! On the other hand, the worst dishes of the night were the Chaanp and the Butter Chicken Experience. The Chaanp (lamb chops) were flavorful, but overcooked and super dry. In addition, the butter chicken wasn't special at all, and I've had better from other restaurants. Because of these unfortunate dishes, combined with the reputation of this restaurant and the price people pay for these dishes, I do not believe it is worth it to pay a visit to this place. Incredible food & gorgeous interior, but mixed feelings on the service and price value. My SO and I were really looking forward to trying the tasting menu here after having a phenomenal experience at a different Michelin-starred restaurant here in Houston. Here, the food blew me away with the complexity of flavors, textures, and plating, but the service experience felt drastically subpar. Our main server did a fine job of explaining the courses, but lacked friendliness and approachability when we had questions regarding the menu. At times, other servers would bring us plates but be unsure of which item they were bringing us. Despite the delicious food, this left a bad aftertaste to my experience, especially when considering that a 20% gratuity is already included in the bill. Based on some other reviews I saw, it looks like we weren't alone in this. While I understand that the criteria for earning a Michelin star varies, I hoped that service would be a higher priority for a starred restaurant associated with a fine dining atmosphere. Unfortunately, we also had some gripes with the amount of courses that were included on the tasting menu for an extra price. I understand offering extra items for an additional cost if the restaurant only offers a tasting menu, but Musaafer also offers a regular a la carte menu 7 days a week. It just felt like they were looking for any way to further upcharge their tasting menu when the base price is already steep. Furthermore, they also make it seem like their water options are only either bottled still or sparkling water, which comes at an additional cost that is not disclosed until the bill arrives at the end of the meal. The bottle is brought to the table already open. Since we were charged $8 for a bottle of still water, I would have felt better seeing the bottle opened fresh at the table. I'm sure this wasn't the case, but it would have helped to prevent us worrying that the open bottles were just being refilled with tap water in the back (which should otherwise be free). I understand the value of quality food, and I also understand a business trying to maximize a profit, but these practices just made it feel like non-classy methods of nickel-and-diming us at every level. That said, each item on the tasting menu was very complex, but well balanced and delicious. Our favorites were the Achapam, Coconut & Curry Leaf Oysters, Ahi Tuna Masala Papad, and Shammi Kebab. The food was so beautifully plated; each item was a piece of artwork. I hope they can find ways to elevate the other aspects of their restaurant to match the excellence of their food. read more

Amazing seasonal tasting menu! 12 courses, plus we added on the additional lamb chop, for a delicious tasting of foods from around India in a new and innovative way! Never had Indian food in this way. We also got two bottles of wine, which went really well with the tastings. However, for being a Monday, the dishes took a long time to come in between courses. One or two of our courses took 30 minutes in between, and they weren't too difficult for a table of four in my opinion. The whole tasting menu took around three hours, which was a little excessive in our opinion for a Monday when the restaurant was half empty. Otherwise, I would definitely come back and try some more items. read more

The mood of the restaurant was romantic and intimate, with various 'rooms' or sections throughout, that each provided a slightly different ambiance. Delicious food and great service. From the moment you walk in, the decor transports you to a whole new world. Take the plunge and let the waiter choose for you, they know what they are doing. Surprised by how delicious the cocktails were, extremely well balanced, clearly a master mixologist behind the bar. Can't wait to return to sit in the lovely patio cabanas and enjoy the dessert I didn't have room for today. Enjoyed the butter chicken and appetizer shrimp dish the best. Everything was an experience and the meal is entirely with the price point. read more

Ambience was artfully designed. Each area of the restaurant is decorated extensively. Service was great. The waiter gave very good recommendations. Drinks are beautifully made. Elaborate menu of gin drinks. The menu was thoughtfully crafted with cuisine from all around India. We loved the lamb and octopus from the appetizer menu. The main dishes were great too. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were shown great hospitality and service was impeccable. Our server, Ms. Melisa S., recommended great dishes and drinks based on our own personal preferences. She was not only knowledgeable of the menu and able to answer any of our questions, but was very personable and kept things fun in between meals as we wait for the next course. The restaurant's atmosphere is quite relaxing and intimate. Decor is beautiful; great spot to go on a romantic date. Definitely plan on coming back :) read more

We stopped by at 6:30 PM on a Thursday night as a group of four. We made reservations ahead of time so we were seated right away as soon as we stepped up to the front and gave them our name. As we were lead to our seats in the back of the restaurant, I could see how beautifully intricate the restaurant was decorated. The seats were very comfy; however, they were quite low to the ground. Our server and assistant server came over pretty quickly and really took care of us throughout the meal. Service was great and they constantly changed our plates and utensils throughout the meal to make sure none of the flavors of each dish mixed together. My only complaint would be that food did take a bit to get to us between each item. I started out with a mocktail. The N-A PASSION FRUIT BELLINI was delicious and refreshing. For our starters we shared: PAANI PRUI: Such a yummy dish with great presentation. I just wish there was more potatoes and chickpeas in each paani puri. The flight of liquid fillings it came with were also great. Tons of different flavor to choose from. My favorite was definitely the yogurt based one. ONION RINGS PAKODA: This was my favorite appetizer. The flavor of the onion rings were scrumptious and they even came with a delicious mint chutney to add on top of it. The actual onion ring itself was pretty filling as well which was a plus. Finally, presentation was absolutely beautiful for this dish. PANEER: I love paneer so I was very excited to try this dish. The paneer come prepared in two different ways but my favorite way was the paneer tikka and it was also nice and warm which was a plus. GOAT AKHATI: The presentation once again was beautiful. The dumplings were good; but the best part was the stewed meat under the dumplings. The flavor was wonderful. They did add a random Swiss chard onto the dish which really didn't add much though except some color but the rest of the dish really worked well together. For our mains we shared: GOAN FISH CURRY: Nice, creamy curry - I was hoping there would be a bit more sweetness undertone to the curry though. The best part of the whole dish was the fish. It was so so tender and perfectly cooked. The natural fish oils in the filet were such a perfect accompaniment. BEEF VINDALOO: I'm a big fan of vindaloos so I really wanted to try this dish. The items of the curry aren't really stewed in so they didn't bring along the flavor of the vindaloo. Additionally, the flavor was not what I was used to and not really my favorite. However, the large piece of filet was very flavorful and so tender. It was perfectly cooked. For dessert I got the MANGO DOLLY. The dolly was shaped like a popsicle and it's flavor was yummy and created a great end to the meal. It also came with a carmelized fig leaf but it just tasted like leaf. All in all, a superficially beautifully crafted meal though there were some hiccups here and there with the actual composition of the dishes but still an enjoyable time. read more
This is a place to remember. Despite the photos I saw on Yelp before coming here last night, I was not prepared for how immersive and beautiful this restaurant is. It transports you to a different world. It is very luxe, and the service mirrors that. We had incredibly attentive wait staff check on us and offer lots of recommendations and accommodations. They were all very kind! The food was a rich array of spices and flavors and textures that just shined. Our standout dishes were the paneer, shammi kebab, and short ribs. The goan fish curry and baigan bharta were also delicious, both spicy and unique. I loved my Zafraan cocktail; and you will too, if you love that gorgeous aromatic blend of gin, cardamom, saffron, and lemon... I wish I could have another as I type this! We celebrated my acceptance to grad school by having a meal here, and wanted to really treat ourselves. We couldn't quite justify getting two of the winter tasting menus, although it looks absolutely incredible, and hope to some time in the future. We left stuffed, happy, and with leftovers. read more
I don't have the words to write this review because this was truly an experience. As I tasted each dish I closed my eyes as my mind tried to dissect each spice. I was visiting from Florida and my friend and I came to Houston just to dine at this fine establishment. It was not her first time. You should make a reservation because this place was packed and the wait time would be around 2 hours. We made ours for 8:15 and were seated by 8:30. The service was excellent! I couldn't keep my eyes from wandering at the decor. It reminded me of being in India at Rambajh Palace in Jaipur. The presentation was immaculate! Maybe too beautiful to eat. I hope to be back one day with my parents as I would love for them to enjoy this luxurious experience. read more

Returned for my birthday/HRW and had a great experience! Funnily, I was seated at the same table as last year! We came at a later time so the room was darker and the ambiance much moodier. For appetizers, we tried the lychee ceviche which was unique and sweet (kind of small) and the coriander prawn which was the familiar coconut/turmeric curry that reminds me of Vietnamese curry (sizable amount especially with the bread that soaked up all the curry). For entree, I got the fish curry - it wasn't too remarkable but I still enjoyed it. Very appropriate amount of fish. Naan / rice is not complimentary for any dish ($4 each) but I definitely enjoyed the naan - soft and thin! Again, not the best I've ever had but one of the better ones. For dessert, our table went big and got mango dolly (HRW $8), the Tales of Kheer ($25), and Gulab ($25) with the latter two supposedly shareable. I loved Tales of Kheer - very unique flavors and I wish there was more sherbet! The Gulab's presentation was very fun but the flavors were very familiar and safe. These desserts were a bit hard to share because some things were too small, but overall, I really appreciate the efforts they put into each dish. What stood out this visit was our waitress. She gave the backstory to each dish so well and caught that we were celebrating a birthday & job promotion! Ambiance and decor was amazing as usual. Wow, first off the michelin star is well deserved. The food is amazing, every bite was so flavorful and unique. The service is amazing here I love that they knew the inspiration behind certain dishes and were able to answer every question we had about the menu. The ambience was amazing learning the history of the design and how it was built was so intriguing. I want to dine in a different room each time until i have seen them all. We came here for my birthday and had Justin as our server, he was amazing. We have been to Michelin star restaurants in Rome, Paris, and New York and this was by far the best service we have ever received. He accommodated dietary preferences, gave history of each dish, and went out of his way to make sure that we were happy with anything and everything. The food was also absolutely amazing. We did the 12 course tasting menu and the only complaint is that we were getting full already by the time we had the main course! Some highlights were the Berry Tart, and the Chaanp! 10/10 would recommend dining here and especially having Justin as your server! read more

I've been wanting to try this upscale Indian restaurant and took advantage of their HRW special. Let me help you find it. It is in the galleria mall near other restaurants (Nobu, Fig & Olive and Blanco). They have Valet in front or you can park for free in Purple garage (that is closest one). I entered through the mall entrance that is in front of Valet and they have a private stair case or their elevator that takes you right in front of the hostess stand. I was greeted immediately as soon as I got off the elevator. I had already made a reservation in advance and was seated shortly after checking in (no more than 5 minutes). This restaurant has a classy vibe. It was like I stepped into India as soon as I entered into the restaurant. The dim lighting gives you an intimate feel. And I love velvet seating! The waitress was extremely attentive and gave an explanation of what the name Musaafer meant and who the chefs were. Musaafer means traveler and the chefs had travel across 29 regions of India to learn about each regions' food and flavors. She also stopped at the table with each course and explained the course to us. Excellent service. I had a lychee martini cocktail which is one of my favorites. For appetizer I started with the Papad and upgraded to Tuna. It was fresh and I enjoyed the crunch of the papad. The edible beet flower on top was very pretty. As second course I chose the Coriander Prawns. It came with 3 large shrimp on top of bread and soaked in this lovely coconut sauce. I kept in the theme of yummy coconut flavors with my entree and ordered the Goan fish curry. The Cod fish was light and flaky and paired well with the coconut curry. I ordered a side of basmati rice to go with it. Go ahead and dump the rice into that curry bowl and let it soak up all that goodness of the sauce! I have read and heard so many things about Musaafer. I knew that this would be an experience and that it would be on a day that I wanted to treat myself. The ambience of this restaurant is amazing, every detail of the decor was well thought out and everywhere you look there's something to stimulate your eye. The staff is super friendly, I recommend making a reservation. My waitress explained the menu to me and ordered the ceviche and of course had to try the butter chicken. Everything was so good. My mouth is watering writing this review, the whole experience was amazing! I could never afford to come here on a daily basis but a perfect place to celebrate special moments read more
This restaurant is beautiful. I have been wanting to dine here for some time and went for restaurant weeks. So glad I finally stopped in. My favorite dish was the curry prawns. 5 experience at Mustaafer! The menu offered a good variety for vegetarians/ mostly plant-based eaters, like me, and meat/seafood eaters. Everything was really flavorful and beautifully plated. I had: lychee ceviche, garlic naan, and paneer rizala, and the ashwagandha mocktail. I would recommend all of them and get them again. My friend had the Brussel sprouts and chipotle chicken tikka. She enjoyed both dishes as well. The decor was stunning and ambiance was elegant. Service was great from the entire staff and Mark was a very attentive and kind. Would recommend and would return. Great food - especially the nihari birria tacos, Dahi vada. Dal makhni was ok. Pani puri not worth it. PSA it's $10 extra for 5 puris ($2 per puri). Service is super slow. 20% gratuity included already. The service is not the best and the bathrooms were dirty. Kind of confused how this got a Michelin star. This place was such an experience. As soon as you walk in, you can tell that Musaafer takes itself and its craft seriously. The decor is gorgeous (6 unique rooms to take in with authentic decor and artifacts) and the service is top notch. Each dish and drink ordered is presented with flair and explanation showing how much the team cares about what they produce. We had an excellent meal and certainly one that will be remembered - as others note, this is a high-end restaurant, so expect the price tag to match the elevated esteem of this place. To start, we ordered a round of Gin & Tonics - I had the Flower Moon G&T which was smoky and lightly sweet; delicious. For starters, the table shared the Paani Puri and Masala Papad, both were great, but if I had to choose one over the other I preferred the Masala Papad (and sounds like it is one of their more popular appetizers). For the main, I ordered the Butter Chicken Experience, and boy did it not disappoint - two large bowls of different takes on Butter Chicken curries (green was my favorite and something unlike I have ever had before in the best way possible). We added the naan and basmati for completeness as you can't have proper curry without! Finally to end the meal we ordered their insta-famous Mishti Doi, the mushroom-looking dessert that is even more fun to eat than it looks (no mushroom flavoring here, just not-to-sweet dessert yogurt merengues playfully constructed). All in all, this place is a must-eat in my book. Come here on a special occasion or treat yourself! Valet parking is available in front of the restaurant ($12) or you can self-park in one of the many Galleria garages (purple is closest; either enter via Saks or take the exterior stairway). read more

The butter chicken experience... best experience ever. Absolutely blew me away with how tasty the sauce was, the chicken was perfectly cooked. Just absolutely amazing. With the garlic naan and some white rice it was my perfect meal. If you're looking for an instagramable place then just head on over because they have so many different rooms with beautiful decorations. I took some time after the meal to walk around and see them and oh wow it was truly spectacular how much detail all the decor has here. The service is absolutely fantastic as expected of a luxury restaurant like this one but they were honestly so kind and proud of this place. I would absolutely go back. If you need a new date location you gotta try this out! read more
Food: Indian food with a twist and big time presentation. Favorite was the chicken tikka. Even though the nihari is the most popular we weren't that big of a fan of it. Michelin star? I wouldn't say so. The food is good but I don't see how it's any more unique or creative than any other Indian restaurant. The service was subpar and the wait to get our food was long. Because it's a Michelin star rated restaurant I expected the food to be something unforgettable. We've been to other Michelin stars around the world and they were always extraordinary and this restaurant lacked the character of the others. The waiter told us the spiel about how the chef/owner went to all 29 states of India for inspiration of the cuisine. But I was just a little confused when I saw ceviche and birria taco on the menu...the chef must have went to all 29 Indian states and a few weeks in Mexico. The plating needed some work..the butter chicken was placed into a bowl that was dirty and had unknown stains. The decor inside is beautiful and very picture worthy. Allow yourself extra time to get to the restaurant because it is located IN the galleria. So parking can be a little hectic if you're not valeting and it may take extra time to find the restaurant if you're not familiar with its location in the mall. Tip is included in the bill so no need to worry about that. But don't get me wrong, food is good but I don't think it's worth that Michelin star price. read more
This parking on a weekend was quite miserable and the entrance was tough to find but I had a good experience at musaafer. The ambiance is beautiful and the servers are attentive. I was here for HRW so I tried the lychee ceviche, fish curry, palak paneer, and mango dessert The lychee ceviche was my favorite because there were such good flavors and it tasted like dahi puri! Portions are small and food pricey so just know that beforehand that a meal will cost you roughly $80. Tip is already calculated beforehand at 20% read more

My first ever Michelin star restaurant experience. The decor is a visual spectacle with most everything handmade in India and shipped to the restaurant. The chefs are Indian and most have traveled their country for up to 100 days to bring inspiration to all the dishes. The servers are trained for 6 months in order to master the menu, history of the food and ingredients, the culture and religion of India. Who does that? They do. Our server Melissa was excellent and knew the subtle details of the menu. It took two years before opening to get the decor and theme constructed and assemble the staff. The restaurants have several rooms/areas to dine, each with its own story and theme. I happened to be seated in the Glass Room where Indian artisans took 5 months to design, assemble 200,000 handmade pieces of glass and build the panels that were shipped to Houston. It is simply amazing. Ok. Now for the food. Simply incredible! Every item reflects the deep thought and detail it took to make it. The flavors are complex and well balanced. The presentations of some items especially the dessert were exquisite works or art. Thanks to Umberto, the sommelier and beverage manager who took me on a tour of the entire restaurant. That made it very special to hear the behind the scene stories and reasons behind the design of the restaurant. Also thanks to the service manager, Kadesha for her fabulous presentation of the dessert and very warm conversation. I took a trip to India and never left Houston. read more

They have multiple styles of butter chicken - which is fairly comparable. But no chicken tikka masala.
How do I reserve the tables with curtains, is it dining, patio, or high top patio and are these tables only outdoors?

I guess all ages! We have been with toddler multiple times. Early evenings are the best.
Is this restaurant kid friendly?
I think it depends on your kids ages...If they are older they would really appreciate how lovely the place is...if they are younger maybe for lunch..or the patio as the other person suggested
