Good place to get fast food, with a strong bent towards preparing food the 'Chicago' way. We've tried different places for Chicago style food since we've moved to California, so was a little disappointed in myself that I hadn't found this place sooner. We had an errand in the Seal Beach area, so decided to stop by for the first time a bit before lunch (10:50 or so). They share a decent size strip mall parking lot, and we had no problem with parking. The first impression walking in: 'that's a lot of Chicago memorabilia on the walls'. Tons of Bears, White Sox, and Blackhawks (mostly from the 80's and early 90's)...which happen to be our teams...so good vibes right off the bat. You order and pay up front, and only one person was working the front at that time of day, so gave us a chance to check out the large menu. It's a classic local grill menu that makes heavy use of a flat top and deep fryers: burgers, fries, hot/cold sandwiches. They also have a large display case of donuts, and a full set of scratch-off lottery tickets. I came for the Hot Dog (Chicago Style), and my wife loves Italian Beef ($9) so we ordered that, and it came about 10 minute later. The Chicago Style dog was ordered as a combo ($10), which came with a small fries and small self-serve soda (pepsi products). The hot dog had all the requisite ingredients (Vienna Beef frankfurter, yellow mustard, neon green relish, diced onions, tomato slices, pickle spear, hot sport peppers, sprinkly of celery salt...all on a poppy seed bun. It would take a lot of effort to recreate this at home, and I really appreciated being able to get it here. It was good, and satisfied. The Italian Beef would satisfy in a pinch: used very thinly sliced beef on a toasted Italian roll topped with stewed onions and green (sweet) peppers, with the gravy and hot giardiniera...fine for SoCal...wouldn't be on the menu in Chicago. None of the ingredients were or tasted particularly fresh, but I don't think you can expect any better from such a big menu that doesn't have the customer throughput to keep the ingredients constantly rotating. The shoe string style fries were great: freshly deep fried expertly with the right amount of salt. I like how they hand out the classic ketchup bottles with your fries (the name might be mustards..but ketchup is OK here on certain things). Prices are very reasonable, the food is prepared quickly, and they have their entire menu from open (breakfast time) to close (dinner time). You can pay digitally first, and pick your seating. Once done, you self-bus. Can definitely come here for lunch and be in/out in 30 minutes. read more

I'm badly remiss in not leaving a review for this excellent hot dog spot. While I can't comment on the other items (sorry, I couldn't get past the great dogs), I'm impressed that they've continued to serve Vienna Beef brand franks. For those not in the know, these have a Chicago-specific flavor that to my palate tastes more beefy, and have a little spice-laden kick at the end. Highly recommended for their correct interpretation of a Chicago dog, right down to the poppy-seed bun! This is a little neighborhood place under new management and we ( a large group of 18) came in sans reservations- this is not the kind of place that takes reservations, to beat the heat and eat. The menu is vast and much re-vamped so there's something for everyone including pastries, donuts and boba in addition to dogs, burgers salads and more. And yes folks it was all looking good! Both I and another friend had the tuna salad which was generous in portion and nicely plated, very fresh and praise the Lord there was more tuna than mayo in the salad. These folks know their tuna salad. Another friend had the grilled chicken salad which looked grand and it disappeared quickly from her plate with barely a whisper. I tried one of the Thai Tea boba drinks and it was good but the medium size is small so if you're going to get one you might want to get the extra size. I gave it a 4* as this has a place in my heart like no other. That said, it was delivery, so not as good as usual. I miss the Long Beach place like crazy. Just a few block from where I live. So I don't do the Los Al but once a year or so and then it's delivery. Which makes me miss LB more .... Wrigley Field Fire Dog. Loaded. That's what I get. With fries. YUM. This place is a little fascinating. It's a Chicago centric burger, dog and sandwich place as well as a donut shop and a lotto scratcher emporium. My first trip here was to fulfill a Chicago dog craving. While there I also fulfilled a chili cheese do craving I didn't know I had. I accompanied the meal with fries (hot & fresh shoestring) and fried zucchini sticks. While I regret my decision to fulfill several unhealthy cravings at once, I did enjoy everything I had. I do kind of wish they used a bigger dog for their hot dogs. I wish all hot dog places served Costco-sized dogs. The Chicago dog had all the right parts including the sport peppers and neon relish. A true classic. If you are missing Chicago, this place will make you feel right at home with all of the memorabilia hanging on the walls. The food will take you back as well. Mary is such a sweetheart and might be the number two reason you'll be coming back. Reason number one is the food. So far, I've only had the Chicago style hot dog with a side of fries and it was delish. Fresh crunchy textures and a nice snap on the dog. Food was satisfactory. I ordered Tri Tip and French Fries. Garlic Bread also came with it, a nice plus. Meat was OK, fries were quite good, garlic bread was OK. My mother ordered a hot dog. They only had plastic utensils. There was some difficulty cutting the Tri Tip with the plastic knife which was aggravating. Deduct one point. Men's washroom had paper towels, good on them. I noticed that at least some of the employees wore their shirts untucked which I consider to be unprofessional. Deduct one point. Overall, if I was to assign a letter grade like is done in school, this establishment would be in there solid with a C or maybe even a C+. read more

They have so much more than just hot dogs. Breakfast and lunch is served, and they always have great Donuts as well. You can also buy lottery tickets here. This has become one of my favorite spots for a cheeseburger. It's made to order and so tasty! My other personal favorites are the charbroiled chicken sandwiches and pastrami sandwich. Came here to try some hot dogs and shared the Chicago Dog with the works and a Windy City chili dog with my wife. Pretty decent hot dogs for a reasonable price. Only real complaint was with the fries and their soda fountain. Fries were thin and too crispy and the soda was a bit off and syrupy. I also feel like they are priced very reasonably compared to most hotdog places and they give really fresh quality ingredients. Super excited that this place exists! If you've been to Chicago and have had the pleasure of having a Vienna beef, than you know. The menu options are plentiful. You can order hot dogs, sandwiches, bagels, donuts, smoothies, boba, omelettes, fries, pastrami... pretty much anything! We had the Vienna beef with relish and mustard, like a true Chicagoan. We also had the maxwell Polish with grilled onions and mustard, like a true Chicagoan. They were both delish, but there was more bun than dog, so maybe smaller buns, would be better, so 4 stars. Today was my first visit to Mustard's and it did not disappoint. I ordered a hot dog with brown mustard and kraut. While I waited for my order, I noticed they had chicken noodle soup on the menu. I had to have a bowl to go. The dog was delicious. They use Vienna Beef which are some of the best dogs out there. Perfectly cooked. I asked for light kraut but it came heavily loaded. That was only complaint. The kraut was good, I just don't like a lot on a hot dog. The soup was very good too. The noodles were a different type then normally used but good. It's clean and they have a lot of options to choose from. Multiple burgers, hot dogs, both hot and cold sandwiches, and different chicken meal choices. The salads are very limited and they have house specials like fish and different types of meat. I highly wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians, vegans, keto, and if you are on a gluten-free diet. They probably would alter your meal, but it wouldn't be the same. There are sugar items and some fried food sides so you can still have options if you go, but it wouldn't help any certain diets unless you like five salad choices including chef, avocado, tuna, tri tip, or chicken. AVOID! Do NOT eat here. We planned a special family event and needed 1 quart of Chicago-style relish. We had bought it before from the previous owners for $10. When we called the current manager, she offered to sell it to us for $20. The price was outrageous, but we agreed. In a another call a week later, she confirmed that we could come any time to pick it up. Two days before our event, we called to let her know we were on the way. That is when she changed her mind and reneged on the arrangement for no reason. We are always respectful, courteous, and polite.
