This was my 1st time at this location. I use to go to the Bixby Knolls location all the time until it closed. I ordered 2 Windy City Dogs (chili cheese dogs) along with an order of onion rings, an ice tea, and a maple bacon bar. The food was on point and did not disappoint. The buns were toasted just right and the chili had the right amount of spice. The snap of the hot dog was perfect. The staff was professional and were very nice. We've been meaning to stop by this little spot for months and popped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon, after I mentioned to my wife that I was craving a dog... and wow! We've stumbled on a gem. We both ordered the Classic Chicago Dog, which is the centerpiece of a deep menu including dogs, sandwiches, bagels, donuts, and other breakfast fare. Don't let the donut case, which is front and center when you walk in, throw you off which I could see happening if you're there for a hotdog. Our Chicago Dogs were - dare I say - perfect - grilled dogs (we had a choice, grilled or boiled), fresh toppings, and a fresh poppy seed bun. I'll go again and get another for sure. But this review wouldn't be complete without a mention of the decor (sorry no pictures). The place is an ode to 1980's Chicago sports, with plenty of football (Da Bears!), Cubs, White Sox, Blackhawks, plus Notre Dame thrown in for good measure. The walls are adorned with posters, pictures, all kinds of fun Chicago sports memorabilia from that era plus the cover from a Chicago paper from 11/22/63 (Kennedy), a 'signed' picture of Al Capone, and I'm sure there's more although I didn't have time to peruse it all. I have to leave a review for this place - not strictly on the food quality but the longevity of this place. I used to eat at Mustards in the late 80s! When I worked around the corner at Trend Offset. It was always a good Chicago-style dog, and if I was off work, a beer to go with it. Every time I come back to Cali I hit up this spot and it's still there, like time hasn't happened! It's simply amazing and I had to just let someone know how much this place means to me. The hot dogs are fantastic and I can always count on Mustards for a fresh dog and fries and a cold beer. And there's always some type of sports on the TVs. I love Mustards with my whole !! Edit: Thirty-plus years later and it's still here. And the food is as great as ever! read more

A great local family spot. Every sandwich and hot dog we've had over the last 4 visits have been really good. The only item I was a little disappointed with the fried zucchini. It was pretty mushy inside and I couldn't really tell there used to be a zucchini inside of it. Otherwise, everything has been really tasty including the donuts! Can't come here without getting one now. The only reason for the 4 starts is because there's nothing organic or natural on the menu. Probably won't stop coming here regardless. But the menu does have a pretty good variety. Lastly, the have the Dodgers on tv! Glad we found a new Sunday lunch spot. read more

There is nothing wrong with these dogs. Even the pricing is reasonably fair. That said, if Costco had a drive through and I didn't have to deal with the parking lot, the kiosk, the line, and back through the lot, this place would not even exist. I got the Mayor Daley Big Cheese dog and they did NOT disappoint!!! It had the perfect amount of dog and toppings for the bun. This place is a long time favorite of my parents. There are a few Chicago dog places here in the OC area- Mustard's and Portillos. Portillos is a big chain. To my knowledge there are only two Mustard's- here and Long Beach. My family personally likes Mustard's because they charbroil their hot dogs rather than steaming. Brought the bf here for his first taste of Chicago dogs. I had the fire dog which is a spicy hot dog with the Chicago style toppings. This hot dog isn't very spicy but it has a pretty good flavor. The fries are pretty standard...sometimes they need a little salt. The bf had the Chicago dog which he enjoyed a lot. He also had the Italian beef which is also pretty good. This place also has a variety of other random foods like tri tip, ribs, soup, burgers...if I were you, I'd stick with the classic hot dogs because that is what they are known for. If you're looking for a little more variety in the veg department i.e. salads, try Portillos. But if you are in the area, stop by Mustards- its got really great sports atmosphere and pretty good dogs. read more

Came here right after getting back from Chicago and the Chicago dogs tasted just as good as the real deal if not better! The buns were a little better here and had some seeds on the outside compared to the ones in Chicago that we had. Also tried the pastrami sandwich which was delicious! Highly recommend here for their hotdogs though which they're known for. Side note, they had donuts too but we were too full to try but definitely next time! read more

But I understand this is a business model to enhance income. But the question I had, do they know what a Chicago dog is? And can they produce, or reproduce one? So today they answered my question.
