My 5 Angels is a food truck normally parked in the same spot on the west side of upper Grand Avenue, just south of the crosswalk (close to Blue Cow) between Cal Plaza and the Wells Fargo Center. It's there like clockwork weekday mornings til a little past the lunch rush. The items I have tried have been pretty good, cheap, simple, fast, satisfying and convenient (if you are already in the area). CASH ONLY. When I'm craving a quick, hearty and tasty made-to-order breakfast burrito, I normally get their pastrami, egg and potato breakfast burrito $5. I keep coming back since I have yet to find a better tasting breakfast burrito in the area. The items have a lot of flavor, but are neither greasy nor heavy. The portion is decent and will keep me satiated for a couple of hours past the next meal. I've also had the pastrami sandwich many times since. The portion is just right for days that I just want a lot of flavor without a lot of bulk. They also have many other breakfast, Mexican food, burgers and grill options. You might say this is the OG of food trucks on Bunker Hill. It's been here -- serving the same delicious comfort food -- since before food trucks became au courant. By lunchtime a crowd of fusion food trucks will have encroached on Grand Ave. But all morning, this truck is the only game in town, and that's quite fine by me. I rated this place 4 stars because the prices really can't be beat. I get a breakfast burrito at least once a week with three to five toppings for less than $5. The food is always tasty but the service leaves something to be desired and they have gotten my order wrong on more than one occasion. However, the overall value is still really high so It is worth coming back since i work so close. I used to be a frequent customer of My 5 Angels before Covid. I heard a few coworkers saying they didn't like coming to this truck because they didn't like the lady that worked in there. I tried it today and I must say I immediately knew what they were talking about. Apparently the original woman that worked in the truck has retired. I'm assuming these are family members since they kept the name of the truck. First, there are no prices listed. The prices have doubled, but that's understandable, especially since the prices were so low and the food is good. I ordered the chicken taquito plate. It's still delicious and the salsa is great. I will say, mama should teach you ladies a little bit about customer service. A smile goes a long way. You are losing customers because of the attitude. You have good food, don't blow it. read more

I find it very funny that the same people who make fun of this place and call it a "roach coach" or a "yuck truck" will happily line up to pay $12 for fancy sliders or grilled cheese sandwiches from a slightly more hipsteriffic truck. This place serves mainly diner-type things (tuna melt, cheeseburger) and Mexican items (burritos, tacos). It's approximately the quality you'd expect from any mom and pop burger spot in SoCal. The food is not healthy or organic, but they have their A from the Health Department posted in the window and you can see the whole kitchen set-up from the order window. So, if you're craving a simple cheeseburger on Bunker Hill, don't live in fear! Actually, if you need to be converted, have one of their breakfast burritos. They're delicious and they make their own salsa (two kinds). At lunchtime, they have about a dozen burger options and I probably should have gotten something more exciting than the standard one. Because it was just so-so. Sort of on par with a diner burger, except for the surprisingly-good bacon they put on it, which was very crispy and a nice surprise. Food truck in DTLA parks on Grand between Wells Fargo Bldg and the Water Court plaza. I have only ever gone in the morning and gotten a fully customizable breakfast sandwich, sans meat (carne), so I cannot speak on the traditional Mexican food they prepare. My total is always $3.50 which is super cheap.. well unless you hit McDonalds, but at least I know they have real eggs here and not something created in lab! Also anytime we have a potluck breakfast some of coworkers go and get breakfast burritos for the entire group; they are very reliable vendors, out there every weekday I believe. The two ladies who run the truck every time I go are really sweet, and sometimes I practice my Spanish with them! Like a few others mentioned I too had no idea what their business was named, until I took a closer look at the front. Named for their children/grandchildren I'd imagine (as there is a picture of 5 children that accompanies the name on the front). It's a food truck so obviously no need to travel to DTLA just to eat here, and most people just walk from their nearby work buildings. If need be, there's street parking I suppose. Also, not sure if they take credit cards or not; I always use cash to be safe. If you're lucky, on Fridays sometimes they randomly have donuts and they'll let you get one for free if your really nice. :) read more

They never make as ordered. I don't want potato and cheese. Only egg and bacon or churrizo. They always have wrong items. Today, I was only person on the truck, no line they still handed me food with wrong items. This was really bitchy on the lady who collects cash. Incredibly ashamed of this place. I ordered something for me and while waiting a homeless man who really seemed just down on his luck asked if I could get him something. Sure, what would you like? He was surprised, so he asked for a donut. I offered breakfast and ordered him a breakfast sandwich on sour dough with bacon. Got a dirty look from the lady, but figure I can order what I want, right? To my surprise when I got to my office I had a burrito half filled with egg, a few bacon strips and what looked like a McDonald's half piece of hash browns. I'm a little surprised this food truck doesn't have more reviews. Then again, it's taken me over three years to figure out what their official name was, so that probably has something to do with it. I've always referred to this place as the "Yuck Truck", because it looks like a dirty food truck with a 90% chance of diarrhea. If that's what you're looking for, I can direct you to some other places because you (probably) won't get the runs here... What I like most about this place is their flexibility with the menu. As long as they have the ingredients, they will make whatever you want and charge you accordingly. Are you in the mood for a breakfast burrito with pastrami, eggs, potatoes, and cheese? Or maybe you just want a plate of ham? Boom, done. I tend to switch off between the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito and the ham and egg plate (not on the menu). Their salsa is pretty good and it goes great with breakfast... get the spicy! I'm not fond of their lunch menu (you can order lunch for breakfast and breakfast for lunch, if you like doing that kind of stuff), but they make a MEAN pastrami melt. It's like the Requiem for a Dream of sandwiches - you'll enjoy it even though it's heavy, then you'll regret it and you won't want to think about it again for at least a year. I LOVE this place. The lady is very nice and gives you a lot of food, really fast, and its cheap, not to mention delicious. What more could you ask for?
