I wanted to love this so bad. Its such a cute spot and has everything it needs to be a local gem. However, we just didn't love the gyro. It was really tough to eat (falling all over the place). The chunks of tomato were so big that I had to just eat them on their own. The food was pretty soggy too when we ate it. I'd say that maybe it'd be better if we didn't do takeout, but that is the only option right now so that is on them not me! (I woulda just eaten there if I could!). read more

061 / 100 - 2018 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. FINALLY!!! A place I can get my Mediterranean fix! Ever since I moved from California, I've been dying to find a place that has good Mediterranean food. Boston has great places, but there's a lot of hit/miss when it comes to ethnic food (aka mostly Asian places). My co-worker recommended My Other Kitchen, however, and we decided to go on a whim for lunch. I am so, so, SO happy she took me. The restaurant itself is very small, so please keep this in mind. There's barely any seating and sitting outside (especially during the winter) isn't always the best idea. We were elbow to elbow with other customers, but because we had gone a little earlier, we were able to snag a spot with no problem. I got the marinated chicken with pita, along with a side of mashed potato. The food arrived in a timely manner and it was SO. EFFING. GOOD. Oh my god. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and the wrap was perfect. The portions of the food were also fantastic, I was stuffed and full by the end of the meal. The mashed potatoes were creamy and light. I liked the fact that the ingredients tasted fresh and weren't oily or too greasy. When food is too oily or greasy, I tend to get really exhausted and tired and feel sick after a few hours. I didn't get those feelings at all with My Other Kitchen, which is great. Service was fantastic. Everyone we spoke with was very friendly and polite, along with being very prompt with anything we needed. Despite being small, the shop was clean. Parking can be a bit of a pain, so please be aware of that! Overall a great little spot to check out. read more

Hands down, one of the best Greek Salads I've ever had. One of my favorite parts of the salad was the buttery lettuce which was extremely fresh and probably from a local farm. And the chicken was grilled to absolute perfection and paired with an amazing dressing. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars not 5 is because the salad is a whopping 14 dollars and seating is limited. With that being said, the salad is massive and of great quality. If you can afford to spend this much on salad and want to get takeout, I highly recommend My Other Kitchen. read more

Came here for brunch and we ordered the Veggie omelette, Egg avocado melt, and Blueberry pancakes. Definitely didn't regret our decision! Pancake was fluffy and you can tell that it was "home-made" with fresh blueberries. Bread was grilled to perfection, making the avocado and egg literally "melt" in your mouth when you eat it. Veggie omelette came with some homemade fries, and wow, they were scrumptious! Finished the meal off with a cup of coffee or a cup of fresh, homemade orange juice... and you just had a nice brunch. This is, hands down, one of the best restaurants in the Boston area. Wonderful flavors, everything is beautifully presented, and the quality is consistently excellent. My favorite is the chicken gyro over greek salad. The chicken gyro is a beautifully spiced patty made of very high quality, coarsely ground chicken. It bears almost no relationship to the gyro you eat after a night out. The salad is dressed with a tomato-feta dressing that I can only describe as the food of the Gods. Just out of this world. Everything is fresh, bright, and clean. I love this place and the people who work there. The only problem is that they are a bit out of the way and don't have enough seating. We ordered from this gem tonight and, as always, the food was amazing, so I was inspired to leave a review (yes, I also write 5 star reviews). My Other Kitchen is currently doing curbside pickup for orders and it was quick and easy to do through Toast Tab. Finding parking can be tricky as their lot is small, but there are also spots along the sidewalk that are open. I've been visiting here with my children and friends for the last 4 years and am never disappointed. The staff are always so friendly, helpful, thoughtful, accommodating (they always initiate offering to help or get something they see we might need) and are so great with my children. They remember us every time we come in and they are always so gracious about granting my older child's wish to see their juicer make freshly squeezed orange juice. It's very entertaining for little ones. The food is incredible - half of my family is Greek and Armenian, and incredible cooks to boot, and My Other Kitchen satisfies my craving for Greek dishes and lamb when I'm not with my family. My favorite is the marinated chicken salad with tomato vinaigrette on a Greek salad. The feta in this salad is amazing and the dressing, which I wish I could recreate, is magic. Add "George's" pita (delicious!!!) and you'll be a very happy camper. My husband loves the lamb gyro and my children love the lamb burger. We LOVED their lemon orzo soup (so similar to my uncle's ) and I've heard they make breakfast, so I will definitely try it when I can. We are looking forward to the day when it's safe for the restaurant to open their indoor dining space again. It's tiny and very clean and we always enjoy our conversations with the staff here. You can expect to wait for upwards of 50 extra minutes (after their estimate for when it should be ready) on a Saturday night. Their food is excellent. Which is why it irks me to give this place a low rating. My advice: if you are ordering online, which they still require, be sure to print out your order before picking up your food. Their online system told me I'd ordered 6 meals. When they brought it out, all in one bag, my husband asked for confirmation there were 6 meals in the bag. I thought it seemed like a lot to fit in one bag, but when we brought it to our friends' place for a gathering, it was down by one meal. Too late to do anything about it. And of course there was no receipt, itemized or otherwise, and the laptop I'd ordered from was on the other side of town. During ordering, items that had been available during the process started showing up suddenly as as not available. But we made adjustments and the online order showed as 6 meals. The is my favorite Greek food spot in the Boston area. We always start with the eggplant dish and spinach pie for apps. (Take a few spinach pies to go, trust!). I always order the greek salad with their moist, flavorful chicken. Or I go with the ohhh so yummy perfectly seasoned grilled vegetable plate. The fresh, soft, warm and lightly seasoned pitas bread is so delicious you could eat it all day. I must not forget their homemade salad dressing that I have eaten for years, once you try it you will never be able to eat bottled again. This casual restaurant is a tucked away quaint spot with outdoor seating. There is plenty of parking in the lot or on street. For a casual, laid back, and inexpensive lunch this is cafe is a must! read more

Okay, let's get down to business. Driving by, you don't really notice this place, unless you're really looking at all the buildings on the side of the road. It's a small "in the middle of nowhere" restaurant with less than 10 seats. Everything about the interior design is modern and clean, especially the bathroom (unisex). They serve breakfast & lunch, and I'm assuming dinner as well, since they are open until 7PM. The service was fantastic, with self-seating, and the waitresses that day were attentive, and they made sure we had everything we needed. I got the Classic Fried Egg + Cheese Sandwich Plus on an English Muffin, and my boyfriend got the Chicken Gyro Breakfast Sandwich. Between the two, I honestly liked the Gryo breakfast sandwich a lot better. It was just so satisfying and filling, that the classic breakfast sandwich was just too basic. Unbelievable Greek salad! Best I've ever had and I've had a lot of Greek salads!!! The tomatoes were even good! They tasted like they were fresh from someone's garden, delicious. I usually throw out the fuzzy tomatoes in Greek salads lol. The feta isn't dry it's moist and fresh! The dressing is definitely homemade. They give you quality pita on the side. I can't recommend this enough it's soooooo goooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok update, they consistently give me salads with clean fresh veggies. The tomatoes tho. Good every single time!!! My sink is broken, and until the plumber comes over, I have to cook using the neighbor's sink... so why not use this as an excuse to eat out (in addition to the fact that I liked eating out) This place wasn't far from my university, is highly rated, and photos of food look wicked good, so I stopped in here for lunch. Location is wicked small, I mean, even smaller than most diners. While considering their size they do of course offer take out, but if you choose to eat inside, you get real plates and silverware, not disposable paper/plastic stuff. Ordered a lamb burger, and grilled potatoes, or should I say griddled potatoes. Potatoes were awesome! They were thick round slices of potato fried (on the griddle, like pan frying) and seasoned to perfection! They didn't even need salt or pepper or ketchup! Lamb burger was very good, but there is a little room for improvement. The bread was awesome, not white rolls which fall apart but solid, flavorful stuff Vegetables were in appropriate amounts and fresh! Patty was wicked flavorful with seasonings and other mix ins inside it. Tzatziki sauce was most likely homemade, and also very good. My criticism, is that while I ordered the burger cooked medium, I think it was cooked somewhere between medium-well and well done... additionally, because of this, it ran a little on the dry side. Service was really nice, and while the food didn't come out wicked quick, there was not a significantly long wait, especially since everything is cooked to order. Location is clean! This cafe is absolutely adorable! I shared a lovely meal with a good friend and we had only wonderful things to say about the food and staff! Despite its location on busy Pleasant Street, they have managed to create a comfortable and intimate haven perfect for breakfast or lunch. The outdoor seating, while occasionally noisy, is great on a nice day. I ordered a delicious marinated grilled chicken sandwich, one of the most amazing sandwiches I've ever tasted, while my table mate had a veggie omelette. I've heard about this place since I've come back, took me a bit of effort to place the location in my head since I thought that street was just all industrial, but glad I found it. Stopped in for a quick breakfast the other day, Only one other customer there, which I thought may have been a warning sign... but I guess it was just a timing thing. Ordered a breakfast sandwich... you know the typical bacon egg and cheese dealie on toast.... Lots of bacon, the egg was just cooked short of being runny and the cheese was melted perfectly. It was pleasantly greasy the way a breakfast sandwich should have been... Certainly not like those fake sandwiches that DD or Sbucks sells.. This was real food made to order... Yummo! I may have to try a lunch sometime... although I usually look for something more Asian or Armenian... This place definitely hits the spot for breakfast! read more

The only reason to take one off is because, the food selection is not very wide, and I often have difficulties to find one for various reasons. However, food is always great. I've been here many many times, and I've had omelets, burger, sandwich, etc. The best one I had so far was the sandwich on special of the day, egg, avocado, tomato with robust bread from Iggy's. It was one of best sandwich I've had in long time. It was spectacular. (I had one even better @ Strip T's, but it was long time ago.) A new restaurant in town. I stopped by on the way home to see what was on their menu. Food is similar to home cooked and the owner and son were very nice. We ordered the chick pea soup, spinach pie, rice (lightly seasoned with garlic), squash and veg grape leaves. The kids took one taste of the soup and were sold. We left with a quart. They ate all of their soup and my son ate all of his spinach pie. I have not seen both of them so excited about dinner in a long time. I enjoyed the butternut squash. The veg grape leaves were good but a bit too sweet for my taste. My kids liked them though. I will be back to try more of their dishes. read more

Our challenge: Dinner; Family of four; Visiting in the Boston suburbs; Fulfilling the varied palate expectations of all (ranging from unsophisticated blue-box macaroni and cheese, to the adventurous gastronome); In an area smothered by pseudo-ethnic formula chain restaurants. We found a winner at "My Other Kitchen." While the menu is not expansive, it was clear that items were selected and prepared by a chef and staff to highlight their mastery, style, flavor, quality and service. The kitchen's passion for Food shines through. The menu, I believe, is limited by the size of the kitchen, and the chef's commitment to high quality food, serving a fast-moving patron market. We selected items from the counter menu because our visit was not pre-planned. Our meals were prepared promptly, tasted great, and were served professionally in an appropriately casual outdoor cafe seating area. I noticed several things that would help the prospective diner: 1) A lot of take-out traffic by patrons that appeared to be regular customers. 2) When we asked for an item that was not on the menu, we learned that the chef would prepare items that were ordered in advance for eat-in or take-out/take home. I am envious of the people who live or work near this restaurant. Having an expert chef who will make your meal, wow. --the weight I would gain. Run down: Me, roast beef sandwich with cheddar and grilled onions (beef roasted perfectly, stacked one full inch high), Wife: Greek salad (her favorite, fresh ingredients, tasty components, she almost licked the plate, remarked, "tomatoes with flavor..."), Son: Cheeseburger, (Temperature perfect, happy with flavor) (I noticed the expert bun preparation, and baking marks), Daughter: Chicken Souvuloki, (very choice about her foods and flavors, this dish had expert marinade and grilling, also was a risk for dish licking). Sides were roasted potatoes and mashed potatoes, both nicely flavored with traditional spices. Our server checked in with us at 1 min., and the chef came by after three minutes. This is professional service. Great meal. I did not partake, but, the deserts looked delicious and prepared in-house. read more

Stopped for dinner while passing through Watertown and I know we made the right choice. I had been looking on Yelp for a place to eat, and saw a few places but nothing really caught my eye. And then I came across this place on Yelp and everything looked really good, so I thought it was worth a try. We came during busy dinner hours and the small restaurant and it's workers were all moving as quickly as possible. Although there weren't a ton of people ordering to dine-in, I could tell they had a lot of take-out orders based on all the brown paper bags being loaded. We ordered our food and sat down, waited about 10-15 minutes and then my food came out. My husbands however took much longer, this would have to be my only complaint about this restaurant. I felt awful eating my whole meal before my husband's even came out, but if I hadn't it would have been cold. He ordered the lamb with a side a veggies, and from what I overheard, the lamb was done but there was a miscommunication about the veggies. This does really suck when only part of your food is ready, but it also shows that this restaurant only serves food that is fresh and probably makes most dishes to order, meaning they don't keep old food and make everything as soon as an order is placed. So although my husbands food took another 10-15 minutes after mine, I would definitely still come back because the food was very delicious. And all of the staff was very friendly. One of the staff should have apologized for the wait and explained what was going on to assure him the food was coming, but they were very busy so I understand. read more

This is my first time here. I dropped my car at the Subaru dealership and knowing I had to kill some time and had googled a place to grab a muffin or some similar small bite while I waited. What I found was this lovely little place! Friendly staff, delicious looking baked items on the counter, nice and bright with all the windows. I opted for the blueberry pancakes, something I don't usually get. Holy WOW, Batman. These were Amazing. Just the right amount of toasty browning on the outside, a perfectly cooked fluffy inside with big, fat blueberries scattered throughout. And more than reasonably priced. This place gets it right! Went there for breakfast - tasted 3 different items and each was as tasty as the next, although they were quite different from one another. Special omelette (leek, spinach and feta) was cooked perfectly and was generous in the veggie department. Straightforward egg, avocado and tomato sandwich was served in the tastiest grilled sourdough ever. I need to underline EVER!The chicken gyro wrap was bulging at the seams; could have made a good-sized side salad with all the veggies they put in it! Pita was super fresh.
