I've been here once before and it was pretty good. Went on a Friday this time during the day and surprisingly there was a good amount of people here. They had a Friday fish fry that seemed popular and a private room with some kind of lunch going on. Inside is dim and has a bunch of tables and booths along with a bar. They were out of ginger ale and sprite though which was wierd. The food can be a little pricey depending on what you get, I got 7 fingers and that was almost $20 alone with NO Fries, they were good but to me that's a lot to not include fries. I guess it's expensive at restaurants these days. We also got pizza and a chicken sandwich. Personal build your own pizza with steak was ok, I'd get something different next time though. My first visit ever to My Tomato Pie! I went there for an early lunch and went for a ham focaccia. Sahlen's ham, provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, tomato, lettuce, topped with pesto mayo on focaccia bread. It comes with a side, you can choose from 4 options: pasta salad, chips, apple or fries. I picked the fries. The sandwich was a nice size and together with the fries more than enough for lunch. It tasted good but it missed a bit umph. Don't know what would have improved it though. The fries were just fine, could have been a bit crunchier. All in all a nice lunch. read more

Came for the Restaurant Week Special and had a great experience! For $20.19 total we got a large Philly cheese steak pizza and 2 side salads. This was a really good deal since the pizza on its own would've been slightly over $20. The pizza was very good and was cut into 8 large slices. We each had 2 slices there and took the remaining 4 home. They have a full bar here, a page of wine options in their menu, and a few beers on tap as well. One of my favorite places to go for a pie or a calzone. Staff is always nice and the new location is very nice inside. I only order two things there because they are perfection. The Lucca specialty pizza: think deconstructed stuff banana pepper pizza. Meatball, red sauce, ricotta, mozzarella and hot banana pepper. The ricotta makes each bite so creamy with the perfect amount of spice from the peppers. The meatballs are homemade and delicious. The chicken finger calzone is amazing also. GLUTEN FREE/ CELIAC POST I was so excited when I saw their gluten free menu items! I called yesterday to inquire about options since myself and my two kiddos have celiac. The girl who answered the phone really couldn't answer any questions as to preparation space or cross contamination space, but offered to get a manager. I waited about 5 minutes on hold (no big deal) and a very brash man answered the phone. I again asked about the gluten free pizza and their protocols. He replied, "Well, it's Gluten Free because I use a gluten free crust." I said I understood that, but what precautions did they take against cross contamination. Being a pizza place, did they use separate pans, change gloves, have a separate workspace. He laughed and said "No. I've been doing this for 20 years." Awesome. I stated that unfortunately I wasn't gluten free to be trendy, and I don't want to be difficult, but I had to ensure my kiddos were going to have safe food and that we wouldn't get sick. He really didn't like that. Unfortunately, I will not be enjoying this restaurant since I don't feel it's safe. If the manager is unable to answer a few quick questions over the phone about food/allergy safety then we can't take the chance. We have driven past this place plenty of times and have always said one day we were going to try it. Well this low visibility snow squall evening was the night lol. We were quickly seated and given menus and our drink orders were taken right away. Our server was a little slow to coming back after our drinks but it was ok because ol' girl was holding down 5 tables! Anywho I has the cheesesteak pizza, husband had a custom tomato and cheese, and son had chicken fingers and fries. Everything was absolutely delicious. They really make food pies here. Such a cute place with a great extensive menu! Our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious as always. We got the minestrone soup, chicken wings, fries, a lemon chicken wrap (that was great!), and some burgers. They even let me get some breadsticks a la carte that weren't listed as a separate side on the menu. The patio is a nice set-up with umbrellas to block out most of the sun. My Tomato Pie has become a great part of our restaurant goto. They have a super inviting atmosphere as well as a menu that can cover all aspects of someone's interests. The staff is always very friendly, attentive and very helpful/make sure you are well taken care of. They are fantastic for dinner as well as special occasions in their banquet room. One of the awesome features is they have a point program that you can use to take money off your bill. Make sure to ask about hosting an even there! The menu, well here is where it gets fun. They have pizza, wings, chicken fingers, burgers, calzones, pastas, appetizers, and more! Everything is homemade and you can tell! The portion doze at this restaurant for their pastas are huge. I ordered the chicken piccata which tasted pretty bland to me but the tomato basil soup and their spaghetti tasted good so maybe it was just the chicken piccata dish. Dan and I went here a few weeks ago for dinner and it hit the spot!! My Tomato Pie is in a plaza off of Niagara Falls Blvd and once you walk inside its a surprise because it's so nicely remodeled!! Gorgeous and spacious! We decided to sit at a high table by the bar and it was very comfortable. Looking at the menu there were many options like sandwiches, salads, pizza, etc. The specialty pizzas caught our attention and we decided to go with the pepper steak white pizza. I asked if they could add portobello mushrooms which wasn't a problem! This pizza was delish and you could tell the dough was homemade, fresh toppings, and just high quality. We went with the large and had left overs! We fried an egg and had a slice for breakfast. The beers on tap were tasty and we both went with a local brew. So we've been here twice and we like the food, it's hearty, tasty, exactly what you'd expect I think for a pizza and more place. This time we did the meatlovers Calzone, it was very tasty, even better than the Cajun chicken pasta. They also have great salads, the prices are Bout $18-20 a plate, slightly high, but most prices are higher lately so I felt it was fair for what we got. Very good food, HUGE portions of pasta that can feed 3 .. Most of the pasta dishes ive had are dry & need more sauce added to the Huge pile of pasta to make it taste like something more than bland pasta .. Id prefer the pasta be tossed in sauce first & then topped with the ingredients .. Prices are way up, So is my expectation. Portions way too big, I cant always keep left overs , dont have room to store the food or a way to re heat the food.. when this happens the food gets launched. The service is the only thing that saved this place, and even that wasn't anything to write home about. Seated, waited 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and take our drink order. DJ Trivia was going on, but I didn't see anything about that anywhere (I created a tip). The dining area is open to the bar and it was pretty loud. Ordered nachos for an appetizer, then burger without a bun (no low carb options for a side, and they "can't do a side salad," so just a burger patty), and a calzone. A couple of minutes before our food came out, the waitress let us know that the nachos came out burned and she refused to serve it (Many thanks to her). So, we got everything at pretty much the same time. The nachos were still a little toasty in places, but otherwise soggy and pretty gross. I'm fairly certain, given the uneven cooking of the cheese, that the burned bits had been taken off and the reminder was reheated. Boo. I was glad I ordered the bacon bleu burger, because outside of those flavors it had none. Evidently my husband has been spoiled by Michael's in the Falls, because he was not thrilled with the calzone, though he did say it was crispy and tasted good. Very solid Zaza right here. We ordered a small buffalo chicken finger za and a cheese and pep. The finger za was very tasty and done perfectly. (We did not get it with the tomatoes or onions). The pep was a standard area pep pie. It is comparable to others in the area. My one knock its the price. For two small pizzas delivered we payed around $50!! I could have got the same quality elsewhere for cheaper in my opinion. For example; recently ordered two similar pizzas both as larges and cheesy bread from JOHN'S for the same cost. I've been going to my tomato pie for years now and while the food is a bit above average the execution of getting the orders right have a lot to be desired. When I pick my food up the people are typically very nice so I'll excuse the occasional screwup which seems to be pretty consistent in one area, cutting a pie into squares (of my last four fat pies they screwed up three of them). This last order broke the camels back, I ordered 30 wings (pretty simple order also, nothing fancy) When I get my order the guy tells me "we're sorry, we ran out of chicken wings so we substituted your order for chicken fingers" I asked the guy, "why didn't you at least call to ask me if that's OK? And he replies very snuggly, "I don't know, we're really busy". The guy apologized but at that point I was livid, I was entertaining guests who I hadn't seen in a while and they wanted wings, and this guy effectively says it's tough we don't have wings, you'll take what I give you. I've put up with screwup's for a few years now (One order was so bad the manager gave me a $10 discount on my next order in the form of a poker chip) but eventually you have to cut your losses. It's really hard to support local businesses during this pandemic when the business takes you for granted with arrogant, condescending, incompetent attitudes. read more

Supporting our local restaurants during this pandemic we picked My Tomato Pie for tonight's dinner. We have had them plenty of times so it was no surprise that the food is outstanding as always. We went with an order of pizza bread, stuffed hot peppers and a cheese pizza. We've never had the pizza bread or the stuffed peppers before so we thought we'd try them. Just like everything we've ever had from here they were delicious. Pizza bread comes with a side of pesto and marinara sauce to dip in, personally I preferred the pesto, my wife and kids preferred the marinara. Both were very good. The stuffed hot peppers were also very good. Mine wasn't very hot (which is hot or kiss with peppers) but my wife's was ! The stuffing was very good and each had an ample amount in it. You get three to an order. Pizza was still great as always, perfect amount of sauce and cheese, very tasty. We took advantage of the curbside pick up which was simple and quick. One of the best, if not the BEST restaurant and service in the area. Food was excellent - we ordered the pizza bread (kids loved it) the sausage calzone, chicken piccata pasta (highly recommend) and the sausage pasta. Sad to write this review without any photos but it was TOO GOOD and we couldn't stop eating! It has a few small specks of meat, no visible meatballs, and she said it was flavorless and just all cheese. Service was mediocre. Won't be back. We initially came here about a year ago I think for a Yelp elite event which was awesome. The owner was kind enough to give us each a token for a free personal pizza so we finally redeemed those last night. We started with the Mediterranean platter which I think will be my go to every time I come here. Homemade hummus, fresh tomatoes, garlicky (imo) roasted reds, onion and feta with warm white or wheat pitas. The personal pizzas were pretty good too but I'm interested in trying some other things on the menu such as the spaghetti parm and calzones. They also have plenty of gluten free options as we learned from the Yelp elite event. The newer location they are in now also has a nice, classy vibe compared to the old location. They need to change the name " calzone" on the menu. Thier " Calzone " has NO RICOTTA ???? So it is really just an epie roll . Also the steak " Calzone " was torn up roast beef. We had 4 Calzone...tjey had the item description and mozzarella cheese and not much of it ...the meat lovers DID have a lot of meat in it . When the restaurant was located on Sheridan I went often in the late 90's into the Millennium. When they moved I stopped going. This is my first visit back. The interior is nice and spacious, and set up well for pandemic eating. The menu has changed a lot, has more protein options and in general less limited to just pizza / pasta like before. I had an albacore tuna melt on focaccia with macaroni salad on the side. The tuna was nicely seasoned, and the bread was soft and delicious. It needed additional mayo on the sandwich for my taste, and the bead could have been a little crisper - but all in all I enjoyed it. The macaroni salad was somewhat disappointing - very plain; I should have ordered the potato salad. My guest ordered some kind of burger and it looked appetizing - he enjoyed it along with the pasta salad (Italian style) it came with. I'd definitely return. read more
