One of my favorite vegan go to spots! It's a hidden gem that located in a small plaza in Pasadena. The interior decor is very simple but nice. Staffs are very friendly, nice, and attentive. Price is certainly very reasonable with the portion of food they serve. I personally love "yellow curry noodles." I yelped it and found most people recommended this dish. You can't go wrong with the highly recommended dish. I came here with family and friends for my graduation dinner. Everyone loved it! Another must-have is "soy chicken satay." It's SO yum that you can't even tell you're not eating chicken! Oh by the way, this one is "off menu" appetizer. You gotta ask staffs. I'm a water drinker. But when I come here, I always can't help but order Thai ice tea. I mean, it's hardly find a place that provides "vegan Thai ice tea!" I been here twice being a Asian local to Pasadena for over 40 years this is overpriced hipster vegan hype. For the 6 of us ordering one dish each and only water for drinks our bill came out to $108. The food was ok at best the portions are ok but not that special. I can't justify spending 14 dollars on pat thai! All all you people that give this spot 5 stars really??? All you white privilege people have no damn taste buds so many good thai food places for cheaper and other restaurants even look better then this place. My sister(vegan) just moved to Pasadena and on the last day of my visit I wanted to take her to the best vegan spot around since she always compromises and suffers through(i mean picks) places were we can both eat at (I am a hardcore carnivore). We tried 4 dishes: -[GET THIS!!] Soy Beef Crispy Tacos: 11/10. The cheese sauce was creamy, soy beef was well seasoned and delicious, crispy shell was perfect and fresh lettuce was surprisingly complementary -Orange Chicken: 9/10. Comes with yummy brown rice! Has quite the unique orangy tangy taste. Took me a couple bites before I was addicted. -Pad See You w/ Tofu: 10/10. Really dense flavor but it was good. -[GET THIS!!] Carbonara Soy Chicken Pasta: 11/10. Creamy and tastes like a fettuccine alfredo!! Fake bacon also tasted good. You know, what gets four stars isn't necessarily the food itself, but the entire experience. I've been to this restaurant about six times now and these are my conclusions: They have a large, eclectic menu, with an emphasis on Thai cuisine. But they also have french fries (order them!) and pastas and burgers and all of that. The food is always pretty good. It's solid. It's never bad. But it doesn't always rise to the sophistication of Bulan in Silverlake. But it's good food served in ample portions and if you're hungry, that's saying something. The service is always pretty good. The servers are very warm and friendly and personable. The parking situation is good. We've never had a problem. Their desserts ... well, they have some ice cream that has corn in it! Corn!!! It's really sorta strange, but you know what? It has never stopped me from harfing down those little balls of ice cream. Not even once. Take your friends to My Vegan if they aren't veggies or vegans. They'll find something to enjoy. The food is worth what they charge and it's a nice, laid back, fun experience. But if you have some veggie or vegan friends who really appreciate high end food - or you really want to make an impression on someone and you desire Thai food - go to Bulan for that. Food was great! I am sure this is a great spot for vegan foods. But the service I have experienced on my first time coming was horrible. I ordered my food Togo and about 15 min later a group comes in of 4. They get drinks and place order, shortly after they get served food. I was thinking this can't be right, go up to the front to wait another 15 min for my food to come. This review is really about the service and how my ticket was lost in the process and waited about 30 min for orange chicken w/ steamed vegetables. The only place that I ever knew of that offered chicken tom yum noodle soup was Noodle Planet so I was really excited that they offered it BUT i was sooo disappointed. Tom yum is supposed to be hot and spicy and even the menu says so itself "classic Thai hot and sour soup with rice noodle, bean sprout, chili paste, spinach, crushed peanuts, and sprinkled with a touch of scallion" but it was not hot or spicy...it was sweet! Failed attempt by their cook... My brother in law got the pepper steak burger and that was okay. The bread and meat proportion was off. The buns were too big for the amount of meat they give. The only winner for the night was my sister's garlic and pepper chicken and the dessert, fried banana with coconut and drizzled with chocolate. The sauce for the garlic and pepper was pretty good and how can you go wrong with fried banana? The up side about this place - they give you 8% off the bill if you pay in cash. read more

This is our go to place on weeknights that we didn't meal prep for/don't feel like cooking. Parking: although the lot is small, we always find a spot. Probably don't park right in front of the restaurant if you have a lower car; those spaces have a really deep dip. I used to eat here regularly. Key phrase used to. There are two regular week day waitresses who have been increasingly dismissive of me. Today I walked in and I was the only person in the restaurant, and no one came to get my order or bring me water for several minutes. Then another couple walked in they were greeted sat down right away and their order was taken immediately. Meanwhile I'm still sitting there. As far as the food is concerned, My Vegan is a 5. And I'm a big meat lover! I give it a 4 because the seating here is minimal, and bland. It's suitable, because the real reason you're here is the food, but I wish it had a better atmosphere. Maybe some paintings or pictures on the walls? SOMEthing. So far I've come twice with my beautiful girlfriend, and both times we had the red curry and yellow curry. I'm curious to try the chicken satay appetizer. But that being said, they are both so good! Order some rice, pour the curry on top in your bowl, and enjoy. It's hard not to eat it all, its so delicious. Plus, the tofu is surprisingly good. I came here this past Friday on a rainy and had the spicy ramen which was okay flavor wise. I was introduced to this place through a friend who's a regular and just so happened to invite me to try 'em! The service ruined my experience. As my group left the restaurant and we're standing outside, the woman working the register comes out quickly to tell us to leave a tip. We didn't initially leave a tip for the reason that the service was OKAY and after that incident I don't plan on coming back. I am a regular at My Vegan. I am not vegetarian, or vegan. Actually I just came back from Texas last week, where I overdosed on BBQ brisket and pork ribs, and I needed My Vegan to help me detox . I came to My Vegan, and continue to frequent My Vegan because the food is good. And its filling. And I don't mind that the meat isn't really meat, because it still tastes good. The Yellow Curry Noodle dish is great....I can eat that whole bowl of goodness in one sitting. You should take your friend who is scared of vegetarian/vegan food here and have them order the yellow curry noodle dish. They will thank you after. Actually a lot of the dishes are great. Ordered the orange chicken during a previous visit and enjoyed it. Came in today, took two bites and realized it was not as good as I'd remembered. In fact, the texture was mushy and not at all what I wanted. I asked my server to return it and requested the menu to order something else. He told me he would ask. Yellow Curry - You can order it with veggies only, "chicken" only, or both.. I've tried all ways and the taste of the broth doesn't change, which is good. The Yellow Curry here is delicious. Perfect on a cold day or when you're sick because the hint of spice opens up your sinuses (non-spicy available but that takes away from the dish). Coconut Water - Comes in a real coconut. The juice is sweet and milky as expected. They give you a spoon in case you want to scrape at the meat. The coconut meat was not too sweet and soft enough to scrape without strain. Highly recommend the two above. Pad Thai and Pad Sew Ew - These were too sweet for me, and didn't seem like their specialty. I'd rather order this from a real Thai Restaurant if you're craving this (and not vegan). read more

We ordered our food and about halfway through our meal, the server interrupts us and we were asked to pay already. The server just popped in and said "can you pay already", rushing us pay, finish our food and get out, still with half hr left till closing. So I had to stop eating my meal and get the money ready and honestly didn't feel like eating anymore. I wasn't even done with my plate and she asked if she could take it. Anyways, if you're gonna be rushing customers to pay and get out don't allow them to dine in, because it's uncomfortable getting rushed and it looks bad on your end. The only downside to this place is that it's in the middle of a strip mall, so if you're not looking very carefully, you'll drive right past it. My partner and I try not to ever eat out, on account of I don't want to get fat, and she doesn't want to be broke. However, once in a while we splurge and get My Vegan! We like to get the orange chicken and the thai yellow curry with chicken. Both are delicious, and money well spent! We also enjoy getting the chicken skewers with peanut sauce as an appetizer. We ordered the P.E.T (Pumpkin or kabocha squash, Eggplant, and Tofu). It was the BOMB.....very good! We also ordered the Waterfall salad with tofu. The salad dressing was so good, made of lime, roasted rice powder, chillies, and soy sauce, I think. We ordered the Spicy Fish and it was just ok. We like the brown rice, too. We didn't have a room for dessert but will definitely come back if we are in Pasadena area. The restaurant is clean and bright. It can be our favorite if we live closer. Make sure to try it with the Soy Shrimp, but be willing to cough up a few extra dollars for some extra shrimp ($1 for 2 shrimp if I am remembering right). Tom Kah Kai is worth a shot, just a bit on the expensive side now that Trader Joes carries something that tastes just like it for $2. Last time we were there we got the Tom Yum Noodle Soup. Probably the best thing I've had here. Worth every penny. Staff is friendly enough, but not great when it's on the busy side. I will admit I was a little puzzled by the cuisines offered at this restaurant: Thai, breakfast, burgers, and wraps. I was sure that the Thai food was going to be terrible at a place like this, but when I tried the Pad Thai, I was actually quite impressed. It's not authentic by any means - I asked if the Pad Thai was gluten-free and our server said it could be made gluten-free by using wheat-free soy sauce. (Authentic Pad Thai is not supposed to be made with soy sauce at all if I'm not mistaken. But I assume this vegan Pad Thai was made without the fish sauce, so I guess the soy sauce was for additional flavor.) As a gluten-free eater, I had to steer clear of all the fake "meats" as they all very likely contained gluten. I was safe with the steamed tofu they used for my dish, and thankfully I felt fine afterward. I'd be curious to try some of the other menu items offered if I get to come back here. read more

Went to My Vegan this afternoon and ordered the Green Curry. A little spicy, the way I like it but ... It was just ok. I think I'm comparing to other curries I've had in the past. The service is alright too. While I was there though, a toddler wearing a batman cape kept running back and forth behind me while I ate on the connected seating they have against the wall. Literally, behind my back and he didn't say excuse me. Baby Batman was all up in my personal space while I was trying to have a counseling session with my friend. He was cute but I wish the staff and/or his daddy would have calmed him down. At the end I just had to laugh. It was amusing. We ordered the buffalo wings, which had a great little kick, the pad Thai noodles with soy chicken, the pad see ew with steamed tofu, and the tofu scramble which included hash browns and two pancakes. My favorite was the pad see ew, really flavorful with broccoli which was tender crisp. The pad Thai was very good, more than enough to eat. The tofu scramble was tasty as well as were the hash browns. The pancakes were a bit dense and too sweet for my taste. I much prefer my pancakes to be light and fluffy. Parking is easy, as restaurant is in an outdoor strip mall. Outside tables are also available if you'd like to bring your dog. Would I return? You betcha! read more
