Horrible place ! I was here with my husband at around 2 PM today . This is definitely a "Bar Rescue" location for John Toffer ! We walked up to the bar on the left beer side where the taps are and saw both bartenders with beards and scraggly hair both chugging full beers behind the bar at the taps! We were very taken aback. We asked the bartender supposedly named Jay for a suggestion. He told us to try the red velvet beer so we ordered a red velvet , drank it very quickly and went back to the bar to order another beer. He told us to try a sample of the watermelon beer. Got the sample , we tried it and didn't like it and told him we'd pass on that one. He then started throwing a tantrum telling us that we were rude and wasted his time ordering the sample and then not ordering a beer! He started throwing a fit and asked us if we did that in every bar, ordered samples and didn't buy and I told him we just bought $7.00 beers and tipped him handsomely. About five minutes prior to that happening we had taken the first beer we bought and stood at the bar on the right to finish our beer and somebody slammed a empty beer glass down on the bar and broke a glass and cut my arm. The bartenders on the right saw what happened and asked if I was OK . I Said not really . We walked back to the tap bar and hence the episode with Jay which I'm not really even sure that was his name because I asked three other people that worked there and none of them would tell me his name. I finally talked to the fourth person who is a security guy with very short , white blond hair Who the biggest guy Was Behind the bar with the longest beard and supposedly that bartender saw me talking to the security guard and came around the bar to see what I was asking the security guy and was trying to give me a hard time again. Let me add that we are 60 years old and have never given anybody trouble at a bar or restaurant . We are always more than nice and always good tippers . I asked him his name and he said it was Jay and I asked who the owner was and he said it was none of my fucking business and that he was in charge and that we needed to leave ! Jay then told the security guy to ask me to leave and the security guy said he had to do what Jay said and I just walked outside and called a friend of mine that used to be the manager there and she told me that the place has gone way downhill and no one likes to go there anymore because they treat people like shit. Should've filed a report with my injury but I didn't because I'm not that type of person but I never thought I would get treated like that by some douche bag bartender behind the bar that was drunk. A word to the wise, don't go to this shit hole. I need to know who the manager is so I can file my report with their insurance company, which I would've never done but they don't deserve to get away with it after the way they treated me. It was pathetic and the worst customer service and treatment I've ever had to deal with in any establishment and I've traveled all over the world. Divey spot at the beginning (or end) of the pier. I actually first heard of this place when I met their beer sommelier last year at a restaurant trade show. Figured if a bar can have a sommelier, it must be interesting. It is, but not in the way I expected. If you're expecting a classy place, forget it. Hell, if you're even thinking something like Blue Palms or Yard House, forget it. If you're looking for a loud place with a few plasma TV's and 88(!) taps and far more bottles, this is for you. I came in on a Saturday early evening around 6:30 and there was already live music going. Amazing for that hour. You can sample anything on tap from little tiny plastic shot cups. There's food too although I didn't see anyone eating. With all the fresh seafood nearby, I can understand why. Get the food there and bring it here! Pool table hidden in the back. Didn't even realize it until I was leaving the establishment. Naja's does do various beer tasting and events so I'm hoping to come back down again sometime to try them out. read more

It's really hard to rate this place. The selection is obviously incredible and the best around hands down. But the crowd/atmosphere is not so great and seemingly not there for the ridiculous beer selection. I prefer going when it's less crowded so I can just chill out and really enjoy what I'm tasting. read more

I live nearby and have been there several times. They have a great beer selection but I did have a terrible experience with customer service. I know it's Pliny season and simply called to ask if it had been tapped, the woman on the phone told me very harshly "we don't tell anyone when we're tapping it" To get some clarification I asked if she meant they don't tell people ahead of time when they are tapping it or if she can't tell me if its been tapped. She then snapped and said "we don't tell anyone!" And hung up on me. Granted this place will continue to succeed due to their beer selection but I really don't appreciate how I was spoken to. It's completely fine if they don't want to disclose whether or not they are serving something over the phone but the entire conversation should have been handled differently. It was extremely rude and really unnecessary to hang up on a repeat customer for asking a simple question. We will not be going back. read more

We have always been willing to over pay for beer there just based on tap choices, but I'm sorry your terrible security staff on a power trip is poor form. I'm not one to criticize their business model if they are profitable but I have rarely had a good experience at Naja's. It's a pity too because I love exotic beers and this place is stumbling distance from my home. The only time I've had a fair experience is when they are not crowded but the staff is almost always consistently rude. Once a few customers show up it is a complete clusterf*** trying to get a beer or order food. BEWARE!!!!!!!! Bartenders are adding tips to bills!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Husband grabbed a beer on Wednesday (10/08/14) that was on a special for $5. When the bartender gave him his beer she said "$5." That must have been if he were to pay in cash??? He gave her his credit card and when she came back with the slip the total was $5.45. He signed it but stupidly left the tip spot blank. He was with a few other guys and one of the guys threw down a big enough tip in cash to cover all of their drinks. Few days later credit card statement shows that Naja's Place charged $7.45!!!!! THIS MEANS THAT THE BARTENDER ADDED A NICE LITTLE $2 TIP TO HERSELF AND DIDN'T THINK ANYONE WOULD NOTICE SINCE THE AMOUNT IS SO SMALL! Lady, you are caught! We noticed! What's even more shocking is that when I called Naja's Place to speak with a manager the lady on the phone claimed to be a manager and instead of apologizing was a bit rude. I explained the entire situation and her response was "We don't have $5 beers, we don't add tips, that was the tax." Again, the $5 dark beer was a special on a Wednesday evening. Tax was $.45. TIP WAS CLEARLY ADDED IN by someone after the fact!!!!! I hope the owner is aware of what is happening in this place and others PLEASE CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!!!!! read more

Live music and a ton of beers! This local Redondo Beach spot gets amazing sunlight all day and usually has a band playing. If you're on the pier you must check it out. So many beers on tap and an open house style venue so it never feels too claustrophobic. Cool spot! read more

I love this bar! Probably the most generic compliment that can be given to a bar but when it comes to Naja's the compliment couldn't be more appropriate. I'm only going to comment on the actual establishment and drinks as I've never ordered food here nor do I intend to. I'm more interested in getting my fill of delicious beers fresh from the tap.The atmosphere is very industrial with sheet metal walls on some parts of the bar and plain cement on the ground. The tables are a bit tiny and seem to only be meant for 3 people sitting down, 5 standing up. The restrooms are nice and clean although I do recommend bringing your own hand sanitizer as they can run out of soap. Saturday nights features live music. The crowd seems to be a more mature crowd of 30 and up which means more laid back and mature than your typical "I just turned 21 and I want to get drunk and pick a fight with someone I perceive to be looking at me incorrectly" type of immature beer drinkers. Now, for the beers. 88 beers on tap on any given day with an additional selection of bottled beers, Pabst Blue Ribbon tall boys and sodas. For $12 I can get myself a pitcher of my favorite beers: Guinness and Newcastle. After delighting my taste buds with some Spaten at Oktoberfest in Alpine Village I now have another beer to try. For hard liquor enthusiasts they only serve about 4 different types of mixed drinks. However, beer enthusiasts in the Los Angeles area should always consider Naja's one of the options for going out. There's no way anyone can leave this place thirsty and completely sober. read more

Naja's rules. The very best time to go is on a Sunday afternoon during summer, maybe around 3pm. Their house band, the Land Sharks, plays great covers. The people watching is great. Today I took a few friends for a boat ride to Najas. Soon after we got our beers, some dude and his wife started smoking in Najas "smoking" area. About a few inches from the open window the carries a breeze through the bar. After 40 minutes of this cigar smoke and numerous patrons complaining about the smoke, i asked management to do something. The management did nothing. They practically encouraged the smokers to continue to expose the rest of us to 2nd hand smoke. Yummy. The food was crap too. Not that I was expecting much since it is bat food. I wish I could take stars away from this place. Najas chose 2 people ove 11.. Smart business practice? I will never visit this place again. I will let all my harbor neighbors know just boat to Marina Del Rey instead. read more

I have been going to Naja for years. Tonight after having a couple of rounds of beer and ordering food I then asked a surly bartender to try a draft that I was considering. I was told that since this was a "premium" beer that I couldn't try the thimble full of beer that they give for a sample. What a crock. I won't be back. read more

If you're looking for on tap beer selection, this place is right up your alley. They literally have close to a hundred beers on tap every night. I went on a pretty warm summer night and the atmosphere was nice although it's definitely a dive bar. There's a pool table in the back and they also serve food but I only went for a drink. Overall, the scene was really casual and relaxed. If you're a beer fan and are looking for a laid back place to grab a drink, you should definitely check this place out. read more

Best spot for a beer drinker in all of LA. You'll find great uncommon beers on tap like Pliny, Blind Pig etc. 80+ taps I think. Foods good and greasy and staff is cool as hell, don't let those bad reviews about staff from crybabys fool you. It's right on the water and draws a cool crowd. I was only going to this bar for the beer, not really know the excat location and vibe. I thought it was kinda of a loungy place dim lights and all that, but it was way different especially from the downtown l.a/silverlake/echo. The beer selection was incredible...way better selection than the Yard house. Overall, I enjoyed myself and won't be my last visit. read more

Be careful when you go here. Don't have a good time, because if you do the bouncer will refuse to let you stay. I was there last weekend, August 6, 2012 in the late afternoon, and they had the best Blues Band I've heard in a long time. I was alone, but danced with others to the music, and made the mistake of passing the tip jar between the customers during a break. The bouncer told me I was not allowed to do that; I apologized and promptly put it back. During the next set he asked me to leave. I asked to talk with the manager because I wasn't doing anything wrong. She falsely accused me of "touching a woman's butt" (her words). I assured her I did not do that and would not do that because I was gay. She seemed to have her list of accusations, none of which described my behavior, would not accept my denial of them. She just moved on to another false accusation. I told her that all I was doing was enjoying the band, dancing, and made the error of trying to support them by encouraging tips. I told her that the Security person seemed to single me out because I was on of the few men dancing and having a good time. I must add that I only had two beers, so I was not inebriated. Yet, she still asked me to leave, and blacklisted me from the place. I went back later in the evening to see what would happen, and was told by another bar tender that I was not welcome. The female manager was not in sight. This is one of the few places on the Redondo Beach Boardwalk where you can hear live music, but I again warn you, just listen!!!!! This is the place to go to in Redondo, Great service, great beer, great live music. The Land Sharks are here every Sat night and sun during the day. People are friendly and you don't have to worry about getting attacked like you might down the street at on the rocks( the owner of on the rocks Mike Ghilardi will attack you there only if his friend started the fight and is losing). So if your looking for a fun friendly safe hang out in Redondo this is the place. Walk right past on the rocks and go here you wont go wrong. I will never come to this place again. I wanted to like this place because they have a great selection of beers. However, the staff was extremely rude. First, the bouncer kicked me (a female) out of my seat after some drunk man went to the bouncer and claimed it was his seat. Never mind that I had been sitting at the table for at least 15 minutes and the people sitting next to me stated that no one had been sitting at that table prior to me for a considerable period of time. The bouncer looked at me like I was a troublemaker. Furthermore, the service is poor, the food has a weird taste, and the place needs a good cleaning. The staff was extremely slow and rude. My brother waited more than 30 minutes to get our beers. Although there was a long line of customers waiting to order, one of the bartenders just sat behind the bar talking to some patron who I assume was his friend. To make matters worse, my credit card was either lost or stolen while at the bar and instead of helping my brother and I look for the credit card, the same lazy staff bartender yelled at him and treated my brother as if he was an inconvenience. None of the staff members even bothered to help look for the card. You would think that they would at least get my information so that if the card reappeared, they could contact me but this was not the case. I called the bar about an hour later to speak with the manager about the lost card and maltreatment. Interestingly, the guy who answered the phone stated that not only was there no manager "in-house" at the bar currently, but the manager was on vacation for the next few weeks in Florida. Really!! I have never heard of a restaurant being "manager-less" for several weeks. Methinks this is a lie. . . . . After this experience, I will never re-patron this bar. I refuse to pay money at a establishment that does not welcome and appreciate their customers and employs staff members who lie, lack integrity, and who are disrespectful. read more
