If you are looking for a place that has museum quality artwork, this is not your place. If you are looking for a place that serves one of a kind dishes and drinks, you will be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a no frills place (aka diner style) that serves good basic food at a reasonable price, this is a place for you. The portions are not huge but they are filling. Most of the patrons seem to be from Leisure World and the surrounding area and they are known and welcomed by the staff - think Cheers. The staff are attentive to your needs. The Mrs. and I went in for breakfast. She had the custom omelet (ham, cheddar cheese, onions and peppers), while I had the Western Omelet. Both came with home-fries and toast (wheat or white). Both were properly cooked and tasty. We also had coffee, which was a bit pricey ($4) but you could drink as much as your wanted. We paid by cash, as to avoid the 3% card fee. I was randomly in the area and decided to meet a friend for a quick bite. I happened to stumble upon Nancy's. It's pretty small inside and I was told to sit anywhere. It's a no frills type of place. I was greeted immediately and ordered a coffee while I waited for my friend to arrive. To eat, I got the Reuben melt and my friend got the patty melt. We both really enjoyed our meals. The melts came with fries and a pickle. It was exactly what you'd want from a diner type place. They advertise many pies so we decided to share one for dessert. We got the lemon meringue. WOW, talk about snooty. Nicks is way better and so is IHOP!! Went in with a friend for breakfast and asked if they had chipped beef and the waiter looked at me like I was speaking Chinese and said "Not any more, no one orders that!" Just as good because last time I was here 4 or 5 years ago it was so salty I could not eat it and when I asked if it was Stouffers, had their look and taste they got really huffy and said we made that. I wouldn't get the French toast again (a bit bland), but my dining companion enjoyed their waffle. Love that it opens at 7AM. Our waiter John was on the ball. Fast, efficient and friendly. The food was mediocre. My grits were the worst I've ever had. Watery and not tasty. The omelette was okay but not memorable. The wheat toast was perfectly done and an ample amount of jelly packs and butter were provided. The music was barely audible over one customer who spoke at his loudest voice the entire time. He was yelling about finding religion. It was neither the place nor the time and he was obviously not aware of his surroundings. It became louder and louder until I asked John if wouldn't mind nicely asking the loud customer to be quieter. There is ample parking, however there are two doors to open, one after the other, to enter Nancy's place so it would be practically impossible for a wheelchair bound person to enter without multiple people holding doors open and helping them. The coffee was hot and delicious and the creamers are real half and half versus non-dairy coffee whitener. The omelet was made with fresh ingredients and was hot and delicious. The home fries were extra crispy just like I ordered and yummy. My friend had the Eggs Dillon which was scrumptious. The wait staff was prompt, friendly, and delivered our order quickly!! No frills breakfast place. My wife loves this place because they make chocolate chip pancakes but I think their food is fair. I got the breakfast sandwich (egg bacon on english muffin) and a side of potato pancakes that cake wayyyy too overdone. The food comes out very plain. A mostly unpleasant experience. We ordered on UberEats for pickup, arrived at the time on the order, and the staff seemed to have no idea what we were talking about. They looked around and found our order and started making it. The decor is what you'd expect from a small, old timey diner: ugly and weirdly laid out with an entire wall of mirrors. A $4.50 side order of bacon was three strips. We pulled the little foil package out of the bag thinking it was a random extra pickle. That alone killed it for me. My mom refused to finish her chicken cheesesteak and said it "tastes the way a Harbor Freight smells." The fries were undercooked and flavorless. The grilled tomato ham and cheese had a single slice of deli ham but was otherwise inoffensive. Chocolate chip pancakes and blueberry pancakes were both pretty good. A little dense and not very fluffy, and definitely not better than you'd be able to make yourself at home, but I wasn't unhappy with them. We will absolutely not be going again. The pancakes were good but not good enough that it would be worth more money to not just make some Bisquick yourself. Lesson learned - I thought maybe the other reviews just went in expecting something that this place isn't, but even managing your expectations for a dumpy little diner will probably leave you disappointed. read more

When we asked to substitute cole slaw for French fries, the answer was a hard no, even though on their non-specialty sandwiches, that was an option. Weird and rude. Bummer because the French fries were gross, tasted as if the oil had not been changed for a week, unfortunately the ketchup compounded the misery as it was clearly of the lowest quality and tasted as it if had long passed its prime. The sandwiches were both 5's out of 10. Definitely would not go back for them again. The restaurant was passably clean and the staff were mostly courteous. But the underlying sensation was more of being an inconvenience to them rather than a valued customer, and getting us out the door was the ultimate objective. I read the reviews, it was right down the street from me, and I do like to support the local businesses. That's where it begins and that's where it ends! Although the surroundings were clean and friendly looking, the meal was totally unacceptable! To charge $11.99 for an omelette that was not even made with three eggs, tasted like rubber, put on a small salad plate, with 2 Tablespoons of home fries, and cold wheat toast, is not a place where I will go back. I sent the toast back because it was ice cold and not crispy, and it came back warm and still not crispy. This is very disappointing as I thought I found my new breakfast space. Made the mistake of ordering an omelette with lox and onions! Couldn't taste the lox only the onions and the omelette was a little dry! Ordered tea, which was a Lipton tea bag and that was ok! We headed to a late breakfast/early lunch here on a whim. We walked in and we were easily the youngest people by about 20 years, but somehow that made the ambiance for me. All of the older people were friendly and seemed happy- one stood up on her way out and wished everyone a happy and healthy 2018 and the whole diner cheered- and the waiters appeared to know (and hug) many of the customers. We ordered two breakfast specials on the chalkboard- the sausage skillet and the new year's omelet- and we both thought the food was decent if a bit overprice.
