Praline Cream ice cream. Tastes better than it looks!

To all you foodies if you have not visited Napa Cafe you are missing out on Heaven! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and pleasing to all your senses.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even before you walk in the eye recognizes elegance and sets you up for a romantic event.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now usually walking into a place of this character one may expect snooty staff..but not here! I'm hard pressed to remember a recent establishment visited with staff so helpful, so friendly, so knowledgeable and accommodating as each I met. And Oh, the food, without doubt better than any 5 star restaurant I've experienced in the US or Caribbean. Yes! I'm in love with NAPA CAFE!

I went here for my birthday and it was an amazing experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was expansive, and the service was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Very personable, my food was so great and the cocktails were just as amazing. If you go and they offer the short rib, you absolutely must. All in all, it's expensive but worth every penny!

I feel like the name and the atmosphere are mismatched, cafe doesn't seem big enough for what they offer. Fresh baked focaccia bread, room temp butter (as it should be!), gorgeous specials and a fun drink menu. My friend and I went for: Caesar salad - good, but I can't fathom why they aren't using their focaccia as the croutons Sea bass - delicious and melts in the mouth with forbidden rice Crab cakes - mostly lump crab (again, as it should), perfectly cooked. They don't look hand formed, so they are a little thinner than I expected, but I think it's the secret to their perfect cook Great for date nights or special occasions. Festive atmosphere. Attentive service.

We had a wonderful time at Napa Cafe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is super intimate and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service was great. The staff was super helpful and organized. You can tell that they are a team that communicates and loves to provide a great experience for guest. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have several areas. We had a large group, so we were in the room that had the perfect amount of space for us to comfortably enjoy ourselves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food! Amazing! I had the Sea Bass. I've never really eaten it and now I am fully converted, lol! It is topped with soy ginger butter, soy ginger vinaigrette. It's laid on a bed of black forbidden rice; however, I chose the mashed potatoes, and they were delicious. The sautéed spinach also added more flavor to this dish. Nex time, I am going to get the smoked gouda risotto. I tried a friend's that got it that way, and it was amazing. Great dining experience. I am so glad that they are on the Memphis food scene.

"Jan's Room". We liked the wine list!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat in a cute, private room that was lit up with lights! We enjoyed that room's ambience[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Regarding our service: excellent! Regarding our meal: my husband loved the meatloaf and said it was "different" but very good. My starter was the mushroom soup (delish!) and for my entree I chose the crab-cakes. Our waitress assured me they were LUMP crab; however, I beg to differ. The consistency was more of a shredded crab. They were good, but not great. I loved the sauce under the cakes. The aspargus was hard; the spinach should have had the stems removed. I ordered the coconut cake for dessert, and I loved it! Jan was our waitress and has been there for 27 years. Bravo, Jan!

We loved Napa Café! The food is inventive, and tasty. The cocktails are solid. The service is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their outdoor patio is pretty and I'd like to eat out there when the weather is fairer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is warm, dim, and cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I found the sauce on the shrimp dumplings to be too salty, but my lady loved it. The beet salad is tasty and included flavor combinations I haven't tried before. Their complimentary rosemary bread is delicious. The sauces on the main courses were fantastic. The service was generally great. There were a couple times where I felt like I was waiting too long, but that pacing was good overall. The staff also did a great job calming some belligerent guests at another table. Our total was $235 for two people. I think some other local competitors offer better value at this price point, but my girlfriend has informed me we will be going back. Hi! This is the girlfriendThe drinks we got were amazing! I had the pecan old fashioned & he had the last word. I am very much a caesar salad girl but I had the spinach salad & it was delicious. Thank you

Was there for a just drink with wife. 2 drinks came to 40.00 - tax was 9.90 so that came out to be 25% of bill. ??? Asked and they said the extra tax was an ABC rule... anyone else seen this?

We were seated on the left side, where half the seating was like a booth and the other side having chairs. The menu, physically, is large but short and simple. They also had a wine and cocktail list. The only thing that did bother me a little was that our table was already small, and we had 4 menus (two main, wine list, cocktail menu) across a small table. Our server greeted us, and listed the night's specials. He was very friendly, and had a very good attitude start to finish despite how busy it was getting. He was honest about the things he liked on the menu, and didn't give the wearing a wire answer. We decided to get the Thai steak as an appetizer. I didn't expect it to be so small. It was a little chewy, but it had a nice flavor. My babe got some soup, and then I got a wedge salad. The soup was fine and the salad was really good. We browsed the menu and we both decided on the Halibut. It was delicious! The top had a nice crust, the Halibut was tender, the asparagus cooked perfectly, and the beurre blanc was a great touch. I like that Napa Café seems to have a great team dynamic. They did well helping each other rotate and tend to tables. There was never a moment where you were left waiting or wondering about anything you needed. We also got dessert. Babe got the Belgian chocolate paté, and I got the sweet buttermilk pie. The pie was...ok. The texture reminded me more of cheesecake than pie. I liked his dessert better. Napa Café is pricey, but I consider pricing to portion size decent. The only one I had a hangup with was the Thai steak. Although it was tasty, I was disappointed at how small the portion was. Prepare to spend about $20-35+, but a lot depends on what your want. I'll give this one a rating: warm and cozy. The staff was friendly, and overall the food was fine. It makes for a nice dinner and movie date, as the Paradiso is one parking lot away.

Always on point with quality and consistency! The wine selection is always great and the staff is very knowledgeable on food pairings.

I'm 17 years old, and I assumed that simply meant you needed to be appropriately covered. My boyfriend and I were seated without any issue, so I didn't realize our clothing would be a problem. Looking back, I would have much preferred to have been told at the door if we didn't meet the dress code rather than being seated. Throughout our meal, we felt judged by both the staff and some of the people around us. It made for a very uncomfortable experience, and we left feeling like we weren't treated the same as other guests. I completely respect that restaurants have dress codes, but I wish it had been communicated more clearly and handled before we were seated.

On the buffet there was a variety of foods to create a taco with small flour tortillas or a taco salad with chips. There were seasoned chicken, beef, fajitas vegetables, queso, sour cream, guacamole, and chips. Also available was taco soup. The server brought you salad dressing for your salad. Strawberry Shortcake was the dessert on the salad bar. Service was awesome. Cassandra was very friendly and helped us tremendously. She was attentive and so nice. The restaurant was super clean and decorated with a golf cart and very pretty metal decor. The lunch buffet foods change each day. Call before you check it out to see what the daily special will be. You can also order items from a small lunch menu if you do not want the daily all you can eat buffet. At the end of lunch, the special treat was the infamous Doubletree Chocolate Chip cookie! Yum. Very informative, with different wines from different regions for each course. I learned so much, and it really gave me a newfound respect for people that really care about wine. I have a lot to learn, but the vibe was so cool and educational (not stuck up as i had feared!) The wine dinner inspired me to go for lunch during the week, as I work pretty close by. I was elated to learn they just introduced a lunch buffet for those of us who need to grab a quick bite and get back to it. For $15 (an amount I could easily drop in a drive thru these days), I was able to enjoy a full fledged meal, complete with soup, salad, and dessert! On the day I visited, they had smothered pork chops, a cajun andouille sausage medley, wild rice, steamed vegetables, and broccoli cheese soup. I may or may not have needed a nap later, but i can promise i was having sweet dreams about my next visit! :)

Great food! Everything was quite tasty. The service was great!…read more A large group left the restaurant and it took more than 45 minutes for someone to clean it up. There weren't that many customers in during this time and I saw quite a few waiters that could have cleaned it up. Maybe I'm a bit of a prude - when I eat out, I'd prefer not to see dirty dishes on empty tables when I'm walking to/from the laboratory. Regardless, I will be returning next time I'm in Memphis. One more comment - when I used to live in Memphis (maybe 5 years ago?) this restaurant had a piano player some nights. This was AWESOME !!! Any chance of bringing that back??? That piano player made the place SO SPECIAL compared to other restaurants. It was the perfect blend of a good meal in a nice environment with a magnificent musician demonstrating their talents. He was then subsequently also tasked with an entire conference room full of people to serve. - When our food did finally come out, it was lukewarm and the appetizer arrived when the rest of our meal arrived, 47 minutes after we arrived. --- Total miss management of staffing!!! - Also, they are cutting back on the size of the meatballs now, which used to be a favorite.
