Service is top notch! Food is great for a deli. The service is fast and staff is helpful. Only thing is it is pricy for breakfast

I have been a loyal customer of Nate and Al's for literally 50 years. It was our family "go to" Deli and I have followed that tradition. Tonight I went there with my 93 old mother. She ordered the sautéed chicken livers and I ordered the 1/4 roast chicken (dark meat knowing it could still be juicy). We were both looking forward to having latkes (potato pancakes). My mother's livers were bitter with a vinegar aftertaste. I got the bbq chicken. The thigh was about 3 inches round and the attached leg was dry and chewy. The latkes were obviously made much earlier and refried and so were very dense, tasteless and gummy. I am so disappointed and can't believe my favorite deli could serve up such dreck. I'll try breakfast again and stick with sandwiches but one more total failure like tonight's meal would finish off 50 faithful years. read more

My family & I have been coming too Nate N' Al's Delicatessen since I was a little boy. This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants to eat at for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have many fond memories with family and the friends I have been blessed to share good-times with. The deli Is often frequented by celebrities, local residents & business people and is a great tourist attraction not just for the amazing food or who you'll see, but the great service and the friendly family atmosphere it provides. Al Mendelssohn is no longer with us, however, they have left the restaurant in the capable hands of grandsons Mark and David, their sons. From Jewish homestyle entree's, to gigantic sandwiches... Some of my favorites include the New Yorker with coleslaw on rye toast with russian dressing, matzo ball soup & potato latkes with applesauce. My boyfriend and I found ourselves walking around Beverly Hills on Easter Sunday for dinner. Most places were closed and just so happened to stumble upon this place. From the moment we walked in, the Jewish family/diner vibe instantly made us not homesick anymore. We're not even Jewish but the friendliness and cozy atmosphere were just what we needed. This place is awesome! Excellent food (I had the patty melt) and it was so delicious. They gave my daughter a "bagel on a string" which she loved. Also had the warm apple pie and loved it. The service was excellent as well and we had a great server. I will definitely be back. read more

Being a native of Los Angeles, I'm ashamed to say that I had never been to Nate & Al's until today....and boy am I glad I came. I was fiending for some matzo ball soup and was in the area so we stopped in and had the best lunch. I had the soup and half a sandwich and my husband had the pastrami and corned beef combo sandwich and they were excellent. The sides are lacking but the other food gives this 5 stars...also our server Angela was wonderful, except being a cowboy fan haha...would recommend to everyone. Parking can be tricky on the streets but it is Beverly Hills. read more

ABSOLUTE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Non-gentleman taking down names for a table I believe his name is Michael, he did make it quite clear that he is the GM for all of the new owners resturants. This NON-gentleman was a complete piece of work in the absolute worse way. He paraded around like he was far superior to anyone else- perhaps even to G*D. How this guy is even allowed to interact with the public is beyond me! Shall I take the time to write a review about the food...? You're talking about one of LA's best delis here! While I consider Langer's to have the best pastrami, corned beef and even rye bread, Nate and Al's has the best everything else. (Also Brent's) Kasha Varniskas and kishka (derma) are the dishes I like to rate a deli by. This place has the best! The kishka has a taste of sweetness but is really good! I've been coming here since the days where they hung a bagel on a string for me. Nothing has changed - the great food, service and waitresses. Then again, maybe one or two of them have moved on. Service could have been better. Waitress could barley make eye contact. Food was bland. Cool location, but will not return. Way better delis in LA. Ordered hot pastrami on Rye. I regret to have to give them a one after giving them a five. The reason I am giving them a one is because later in the evening after dining there I got really sick, I thought I was going to go to the hospital. I am GLUTEN FREE and I am sure they did not give me the Gluten Free bread, only because the waitress said she thought they were out of Gluten Free bread and came back in a few second from the kitchen and said they had some. It is so important to make sure when someone orders Gluten Free that is what they get. If they were out, I would have been happy with the Corned Beef and Cabbage. read more

The service was fast and the food came out quick. I ordered the French dip, which I'm use to having the roast beef cooked and heated through on a hoagie type roll and au jus sauce on the side. Well this far from what I expected. There was ample amount of roast beef, however, it was pretty rare and ice cold on my Kaiser bun. I used my sauce to warm and cook the meat until it wasn't so rare. Nate 'n Al's is a really adorable little old diner located in Beverly Hills. They have everything you'd expect from a diner/deli. I loved the relaxed and unpretentious vibe of the place, and the very mixed crowd. All ages go here, from the hipsters to parents with kids to the elderly. That was refreshing to see, especially in Beverly Hills. Prices are pretty cheap and the food is cooked just right. What a great breakfast spot to come with friends or just go by yourself and read the paper. read more

This place gets crowded quick so off peak hours are the best. The staff is pretty friendly and decently quick and competent. The Pastrami and the Corned beef are equally tasty, as is your selection of breads. The Russian dressing is some of the best I have ever had. The Fries and the potato salad are pretty good. But I don't really like the pickles, there is just some spice in them that they use that I really don't like. The bottom line for me though is its pretty much over priced, but everything these days is right? But seriously a (small) "full hot pastrami" (and yeah the sandwiches are small) with a side of potato salad included and a glass of tap water will run you about 14-15$ with tax, then add tip. Yeah that's a lot of money a small lunch especially if you add a can of Dr. Brown's your pushing $20 for lunch. It is BH though, so you know you pretty much have to pay for this area. The deli area is pretty good, but the bakery is really laking, Canter's has a lot better baked goods. Nate 'n Al's is probably my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. It is an institution. The staff is amazing. The food is divine. I always get the rueben, without bread - they do not even blink. It arrives beautifully prepared each and every time, and the flavors are astounding. I generally leave with lima bean soup to-go with their famous rye bread for my husband. I pray my favorite delicatessen will be around forever. It's my happy place. read more

Bad service. We watched several tables get their elaborate orders who arrived after us. All we ordered was 1 turkey on sour dough bread and a side of cole slaw. Nothing else. When I diplomatically told the waitress, she rudely brushed me off and never checked back the rest of the meal. This was my second try and I REALLY wanted to like it. My office is around the corner and I love deli food. It's a shame. read more
